Our stay at Aquatio was absolutely wonderful. The hotel has a fantastic central location right in the heart of the Sassi, making it easy to explore, and the views are simply beautiful. The unique cave architecture combined with modern comfort made it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

The location is perfect! The staff is great! The caves are incredible! The spa was really good! The ladies attending the spa were a bit disconnected but the masseuse were both great!

A truly special hotel, perfectly located in the heart of Matera, right in the historic area. The location is excellent for exploring the city, and the concept of the hotel is unique — the rooms are spacious, very clean, and beautifully combine modern elements with the authentic architecture of the place. The overall atmosphere is refined, and the interior design adds a lot to the distinctive experience. You can tell it is a well-thought-out property, carefully maintained. Overall, a very pleasant stay in a memorable place, with a few adjustments that could make the experience perfect. There are a few aspects that could be improved to reach a truly exceptional level: the spa area is quite small compared to the size of the hotel, and the staff there could be more professional and attentive to detail. Additionally, the breakfast is somewhat limited in variety and could benefit from more options. The lack of dedicated parking can also be inconvenient, especially for guests arriving by car. We had to carry, climbing a lot of stairs, heavy several lunggages a long way to the parking outside the area. I think this luxury hotel should provide a solution for their guests.

We loved everything about the hotel: clean, well maintained, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent spa, too! All this in a cave and at a great location! You'd be pleasantly surprised. The only caveat is you can't get there with a car. So, you have to leave it at a parking garage about 5 min walk away. But that's a minor thing compared to what you'd get

The location was perfect, in the heart of the Sassi, close to restaurants, and within walking (climbing) distance from the sites that make Matera famous. We had chosen a superior suite, and the photos on the website did not do it justice! The room far exceeded our expectations. You could easily fit three standard hotel rooms inside and still have room left over to walk comfortably. It was the perfect combination of ancient vibe and modern comfort. Our room included a complimentary hour at the spa, along with the sauna, steam room, pool, and relaxation area. Breakfast was also included. The variety of food offered was so abundant that we usually skipped lunch and had an early dinner. The staff was amazing and always there to help whenever we needed something. Everything was perfect the way it was. We look forward to coming back and staying longer next time.

OMG. The room was out of this world! Amazing to sleep in the caves! Very big room and the decor is just exquisite. Everything about this hotel was just an incredible experience. The SPA also was awesome and the massages incredible!! A must in Matera!

The hotel was fine but nothing exceptional in any way, and we had a premium room. There was nothing architecturally or otherwise special about it, notwithstanding the faux cave interior.

Great location, very nice property, very friendly staff. The spa was great. You get less ventilation in a cave room, but I guess that should be expected…

The location was perfect!!! The staff were so helpful and accommodating!!! Big thanks to Roberta who sooo speedily answered all my questions pertaining to parking as I was in transit towards the property. We loved the spa! The bartender said they were out of bourbon.
