Willa Carlton
About Willa Carlton
Beautifully exemplifying the notion of modernism in 20th century Polish architecture, this homely hotel provides unique accommodations for your stay in Zakopane. Before the Second World War, Willa Carlton was considered one of the most elegant villas in Zakopane. Its interiors captivate the residents with the beauty of years gone by, unique coziness and a family atmosphere. The property is in the vicinity of a picturesque park with a children's playground. Lunch is served between 14.00 and 16.00. Dinner is served between 18.00 and 20.00. The villa is a mere 3-minutes walk from Krupówki, the most popular street in Zakopane, vibrant with life until the late evening hours. A 7-minute walk will take you to the starting point of well-known mountain hiking trails leading to Białego valley, Strążyska valley and the Regle (low, wooded hills characteristic of the Tatra mountains).

The room was very spacious, the overall atmosphere of the place is great -

While my room was tiny it was charming and just what I needed. Breakfast was sumptuous. The living room was charming and both the dining and living room had sun STREAMING in my second morning (after a day of rain). And all the staff were VERY helpful and welcoming. A little space to put my toiletries bag in the bathroom would have been nice but I appreciated having a full bathroom in such a small space.

Rooms were spacious and clean. Bathroom was large as well. Location is close to main shopping street. Bed was super bouncy. Noise was also an issue from both outside the hotel and the rooms next door. Carpeting needs an update and looks old.

Great location close to trails. I didn’t give it a full perfect score because the fold out couch is very uncomfortable and thin. We had to request additional blankets to put over the mattress. Also it was not made when we arrived. Additionally the shower handle is loose and the shower slides down the metal bar while showering. It needs to bee fixed. Otherwise the hotel is quiet and the breakfast buffet is great.

Excellent i like everything from very near the centre to a very good breakfast to very nice staff and a very nice room The only think I don't like is that it's without lift and I was on the 3 floor so it's tiring going up and down.

Location and staff The place needs a bit of TLC. Could easily be made back to it’s former glorious self, as per photos displayed. However, the bed!! Two single beds put together. Standard practice you say. But not when one bed is higher than the other and, almost worse, is lying at an angle. I felt as if I was rolling down a hill!! Each bed had its own mattress topper, where one large super-king topper might have rescued a situation. Furthermore, the ‘bed spread’ was a curtain, which was actually matched the one on the window!!! The bed didn’t have a headboard either. That, unbelievably, was substituted by the cast iron radiator. Very good heating, by the way. I did mention it to the night porter but he couldn’t do anything but said he’d mention it to the bosses.

The art decor interior was charming. We enjoyed the 10 course Christmas lunch and the traditional mountain folk band was a delightful surprise. Sadly I had an uncomfortable five night stay. The single attic room is not fit for purpose. The photo graphic did indeed show the small size but I was not expecting the uneven floor surface which I tripped on all the time stubbing my toes and then knocking my head on the sloping ceilings. I was given an additional mattress when I complained about the rock hard bed but it was a fight to keep it from sliding off the bed during the night! No cupboard or hangers for clothes only shelving at floor level. All in all not good. When I asked for some reduction on my bill, my request was met with a stubborn refusal to acknowledge my complaints.

Location Breakfast Free parking Climbing up to the 3rd floor with luggage. The bed was not the most comfortable. Not enough storage space for clothes.
