Sama's Cottages and Villas

The breakfast was nice, but a few more Balinese choices would have been nice. There wasn't anywhere to put clothes - the wardrobe was very small and there wasn't anywhere to store suitcases.

Central location and good facilities Can be noisy due to the music from the neighbors. It’s quiet at 23.00 so no big deal

Located short walk from the main road with many attractions. The cottage was spacious and clean, and the staff very friendly. Breakfast must be ordered a day in advance. The cottage could use a little maintenance, but nothing that would prevent your enjoyable stay.

We loved every moment at Sama.. it was a wonderful place to come back to after a day of whatever.. The room was so comfortable with gorgeous decor.. the staff were so accomodating and did everything to make our time relaxing and easy.

Sama's cottages is in an excellent location, near the Ubud Market and palace. There are so many places to eat nearby and shopping is also right on your doorstep. Plus there's a little mini-mart right across from the cottages. We liked the style of the room with high ceilings and wood carved furniture. The outdoor sitting area was really nice as well with a table and a bench and some chairs. We also liked the pool, we always had it to ourselves, and the temperature was nice and cool, but not too cold. Our welcome was so disappointing and set the mood for our week's stay at Sama's cottages. We weren't greeted like we were in other hotels (i.e., with lots of smiles and a warm welcome). In both other hotels we were given a small welcome drink, which didn't happen here either. I wouldn't have minded if we had been greeted warmly otherwise, but this just wasn't the case. It was more a serious business transaction of checking in with some forms to sign, and no smile to be seen. The next disappointment came immediately after - we paid for breakfast when booking and incorrectly assumed that getting a gluten free breakfast wouldn't be a problem at all since the owners of Sama's cottages also own the 100% gluten free restaurant next door. I should've checked before staying there, but upon arrival we were told my husband (who is a Celiac and can't eat gluten) would have to pay for his gluten free breakfast (and would just get the normal 10% discount that is offered to all guests). I don't think it's appropriate to charge people extra for their allergies, especially if it's so easy to accommodate his allergy with the facilities next door. The next day the manager said he could give my husband ONE slice of gluten free bread and a gluten free pancake. We said we'd prefer to just get refunded for the breakfast. However, we were told we'd have to do that via booking.com. We then decided to just go with the gf pancake option, at least for the next day while we figured out what to do, and when the pancake was delivered, we were asked to pay for it..?! At no point when coming or going did anyone ever say hello or goodbye. At the two other hotels we stayed, staff made such a fuss of us and our daughter, but here we were just ignored. One time my daughter walked into our room immediately after it was cleaned and because the floor was wet she slipped and fell and cried.

The location is very convenient as all of Ubud is in walking distance. The over friendly staff is very helpful and can arrange most everything. Some facilities could use a refreshing but it is overall very good value for the money.

The villa was very Aesthetically lovely There was no key to the balcony door leaving us feeling unsafe, there was a leak in the ensuite basin as a result of water seeping onto the floor it smelt horrible. The safe is not bolted down making us not want to leave valuables in there

Sam’s cottages is really a hidden gem behind the buzzling streets of Ubud. The arrangement of the cottages and the location was wonderful, our villa very modern, comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful! We can highly recommend this place and would definitely come again! Nothing! It was perfect, we didn’t miss anything!

The location, the scenic environment and the smiling and helpful staffs The bathroom doors were not functioning.Had a tough time with that. Breakfast very few options and not of great quality. Should definitely be improved.

It’s quiet relaxed and private Not much not to like , some small maintenance issues noticed such as cracked tiles around pool and missing light fitting in villa but did not affect overall stay

Quiet & comfortable located right in the middle of central Ubud. Staff, room and setting clam and beautiful. Highly recommended Breakfast was included but very ordinary but lots of cheap options on the street out front
