Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its location and spacious rooms, but there are numerous complaints about ongoing construction, limited amenities, and high parking fees. Many guests also express frustration with poor communication and service from the staff.

The hotel was nice but the staff was exceptional. Be advised that you will need to pay for overnight parking in the parking garage. Also, searching for the ice machine is a decent side quest.
- 2/5
The parking is an absolute joke. Do not show up with an oversized vehicle they are not equipped and you will probably have to park somewhere that is not consistent with the values you would expect from Hilton!! I give it 2 thumbs down!!
- 3/5
Only 1 of the 2 main elevators was operational, for a hotel seeing as much traffic flow in such a bustling downtown area I was very surprised and disappointed in the wait times.
- 3/5
I said it at this property. Many times, and the elevator always seems to be an issue. Also, Steer clear of the parking garage if you can help it.

Hotel was centrally located with a short walk to our evening destination, Moody Amphitheater, about a 15 minute easy walk to and from. Hotel was nice, modern and clean. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Dining staff at breakfast was great and service was great. Breakfast food was great, better than other hotels I've stayed in. Overall great stay and would recommend if you are attending shows at the Moody Amphitheater and for Moody Center which isn't much further. The elevator was very slow, especially coming into the garage. I believe we waited for 15 minutes for the elevator to arrive down to the garage upon arrival. We were told there were other elevators and directed to those; they were located through the staff doors and used by the staff, the whole situation was a bit bizarre and like a rabbit warren maze through the back to get to said elevators. The parking garage is very, very tight, wouldn't recommend it for large vehicles.

The room was spotless and we loved the separate bedroom from the living room area. The kitchen was well stocked. The bed was comfy and we had plenty of towels.
- 3/5
The room was clean and room service came every day that we needed it. The wall paper in the bathroom could use some repairing as well as the mold in the shower could be cleaned better. Only one usb B and C plug in the room which should be both sides of the bed. I’ve stayed a numerous Hiltons and don’t see why that was missing. Also simple amenities like some paper towel or sufficient supplies in the kitchen were not present, not a complimentary dish soap or sponge. The bathrooms in Hiltons were have stayed at before have had other complimentary stuff as well but overall it was a 3 stars for the overall room with amenities.

Doubletree never fails with the cookies at check-in, a hit with our family. We enjoyed a suite for more room. It had a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and stove. This was a great location within walking distance to the Capital and 6th street.

They charge for breakfast. I was not told that initially. Other than that, everything was fine.
- 5/5
Excellent place that meets all expectations.

We loved how large our room was the kitchen and balcony where a blessing and the staff could not have been any nicer

Rooms not that clean. Truly feel cleaning staff presents with lazy cleaning. Stains in toilet, showers with hairs that aren’t mine, and we had 2 separate rooms due to cleaning issues.

Great place staff was nice, rooms clean and great views. Only negative is if you have large suv and get a large vehicle pass smaller cars still park in the spot and they don’t enforce them to move so have to either pay for parking close by or park in the 15 min wait parking

Great property in the perfect location. Corey at the front desk was great. Seamless check-in, attention to detail and greeted us with a smile every time we passed by. Experiences make stays and he made sure the family had a great stay.

Parking. There were no parking spaces available in the parking garage. We had to park in a public parking garage which was across and down the street. The parking spaces in the hotel parking garage are very compact and the turns are extremely tight. The hotel no longer offers valet parking. There was no liquid dish washing soap in the kitchen so no way to truly wash your dishes prior to putting them in the automatic dishwasher - or even to clean a dish prior to using it for the first time.

The location was central to a lot of things. The room was clean. The front desk worker downgraded us from a suite to a regular room, which we paid for IN FULL when we booked. They told us the hotel was overbooked and, like an airline, they could bump us down or even not give us a room. They told us that because we used booking.com, they had no way to give us any kind of money back on the room difference, which was pretty significant. We had booked the suite for the kitchen area because we planned to cook a birthday dinner for my UT freshman, but that got completely thrown out the window. The parking garage cannot accommodate “oversized vehicles” which was nowhere on their information. They attempted to charge us $50 to park out truck in “oversized parking” but they had no spots available. When we attempted to see what the room price difference was online, we realized we had payed a huge amount of money for the day we stayed due to some events going on on campus, and that a regular weekend night was hundreds of dollars less than we paid… for a room we didn’t even get. The other crazy part was the room was fresh as a daisy, but had no furnishings or wall decor. It was like it had been freshly painted and cleaned, but nothing put back. I called and ask for at least a single chair for the room, and front desk said they’d get on it, but it never came. I’m still sick to my stomach knowing how much we spent on this room.

Staff was amazing. But room was not what I expected for the price, phone didn’t work, tv glitchy (also not a smart tv, no casting or apps). Shower was nasty

The toilet paper holder was broken and wouldn't hold the toilet paper. Disappointed this was broken being a simple fix and very noticeable.
- 3/5
Excellent location, seem
- 4/5
The restrooms were not updated no fan in the restroom, the bed was uncomfortable the tv was outdated. The lock on the balcony door was broken.
- 3/5
It was overall decent but here are some downsides: The dryer was broken and the front desk failed to provide me detergent pods so I wasn’t able to do my laundry at all. The pool water was dirty, turbid and warm, there wasn’t enough shade. I wasn’t able to use the pool at all. The bar doesn’t have any snacks to complement their nice cocktails and I was told to order popcorn instead!?!? Like you can keep some trail mix for your guests. The faucet in the bathroom is so small that one can’t wash their hands without touching the sink. Pillows were so soft, I am used to harder pillows and there was no alternative. There was no welcome drink, no water in the fridge but two little lukewarm bottles on the table which would cost 3$ each. These are not compatible with the price level imo.

My stay at DoubleTree by Hilton was very disappointing. Even though I extended my stay by 1 day and paid $350, I couldn’t open my room. When I went down to the front desk, the young staff member couldn’t find my reservation and wasted about an hour of my time. Repeated explanations didn’t help, and I was unnecessarily frustrated. The issue was only resolved after contacting the previous reservation staff. Additionally, there was no drinking water in the room, which is unacceptable for a hotel at this price. Overall, this stay was far below the expected standard and the staff unnecessarily complicated things.
- 2/5

- 5/5
The only negative thing about the hotel I can think of is the sparse area for dogs on the side of the building. It’s the only grass within a block of the hotel.

We enjoyed the location. It was near everything we wanted to do in Austin. The parking situation was not our favorite. First, not knowing where to park had us going in circles. Then finding out we had to check in first in order to get room key made us glad that we hadn't completed the online check-in. Last, finding out parking was $45 a night even though we had to park our own car, was less than desired.

Great, friendly staff! Clean property, yummy complimentary cookies and clean, fantastic room; we loved the balcony and full kitchen! We arrived slightly early, if not right at check in time and the room wasn’t quite ready. We received drink comp coupons for the “inconvenience”at excellent bar! Although having to pay for the breakfast bar rather than it being included, was a bit of a disappointment… overall we had an INCREDIBLE stay and it was the vacation of my dreams seeing a concert at Moody!

The beds are okay, a little too firm for my back but otherwise alright. The windows and balcony were pretty dirty but the room itself was decent. The food options are pretty bad, not a whole lot of selection and the prices were straight up awful for my type of income. Also there is absolutely no parking at this hotel unless you pay for valet parking and that alone is over 50 dollars for them to drive your vehicle about 20 feet and remove a cone to park in a normal parking space in front of the hotel... that kinda chapped my ass a bit.

The property is in bad shape. Handles fell off in the shower and on furniture. The housekeeping was deficient: we found a left over bottle behind a curtain from the previous guest. One of the elevators wasn't working and it took up to 10 minutes to get to the lobby. The beds are terrible: they're so soft that you sink into the mattress and wake up with a back ache. The pull-out was also terrible: you could feel the springs on your back, and we had to order the bedding, when usually pull-outs already have the sheets and blanket installed. No door between sink and the room. Poor lighting in the bathroom. The internet didn't work one day.

My first time staying at this location and though the room was nice and spacious, upon entering to the bathroom there was a dirty towel hanging from the top of the bathroom door. Then upon getting ready for bed and untucking the sheets there were hairs and what appeared to be crumbs and black little dots. I was so tired that I just fell asleep on top of the sheets with my clothes on which I threw away after. Last there was lots of noise from the air conditioner to the noise on the streets. Will NOT be staying here again.

If I had known the tvs didn't work and outside jackhammering started promptly at 7am, I would've stayed somewhere else.

Service was not great, not personal usage of codes for everything, restaurant slow service.
- 5/5
My stay was amazing, loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

I like the room is spacious, concierges is polite. But the humidity and ventilation in bathroom and bed room needs an improvement. The bed sheets are slightly wet/humid and shower curtain slightly smelled. Moreover the humidity after shower won’t goes away after hours.

Staff was excellent. From the valet to the people at the restaurant.

My family and I went for a short trip and much-needed weekend getaway, and the hotel suited our needs. The suite we stayed in was good and exceeded our expectations. Outside of the living area not circulating the A/C as the bedroom, everything else was good. We ESPECIALLY loved the rooftop patio we had!

Great stay! Friendly staff, very clean, centrally located.

Close to everything, super clean and safe

Everything was good but the room was very cold. Turning off the ac did not change anything. Raising the thermostat also did not help. But overall service was very good.
- 3/5
Everything was great, room, bedding, my wife and I enjoyed our stay, but the fact that there was no movies or PPV options on the TV was really disappointing.

Great rooms and great service.

Excellent beds and pillows. I slept like a baby.

Great location for the money. Love having a kitchenette in the room and having 2 rooms. Highly recommend.

Construction going on that wasn't mentioned when booking. I was told parking was sold out but it appeared the garage was closed. Parking was 3 blocks away. Staff was great very helpful!!

It’s very close to state capital

Don’t accept cash. Had to pay on my iPhone to retrieve car. (BTW the valet accepted cash when I checked in and when he retrieved my phone from my car. The restaurant is a joke. Balcony is 20 inches deep and of course no chair. Avoid at all costs.

I was very pleased with Double Tree. This is my 2nd time to stay here, by choice. It is so close to the Capitol, within easy walking distance. It’s also close to restaurants. The staff was wonderful!

Great service

Very spacious suite. Quiet, even being right next to the elevator. The only negative: the heating/cooling fan was very loud.
- 5/5
All good

This Doubletree is an oasis of serenity mere steps from the capitol. Despite the chaos in Austin of the legislature simultaneously being in session with the run of SXSW, this hotel offered sanctuary and comfort. The suites are spacious, immaculate, well-appointed, and serenely comfortable. The corner suite where I lodged had windows on two sides, one of which was a lovely, expansive bowed window. I will definitely stay here again on future Austin visits.

Disappointed i was unable to book a 2nd night, though understandable.

Very nice

The front desk staff was exceptional, as was the morning breakfast server! So polite, professional, and helpful!

Valet parking atrocious. Absolute chaos. Paid $250 plus to valet for 3 nights and had to still park down the block in another garage just to have access to our rental car.

Nice room and spacious.

Nice property and nice rooms

Loved the bartender who invented a drink just for me.

Stay was good. We just weren’t too thrilled with the cigarette butts, empty coke bottle on the patio. Trash can in living room area had a little trash in it and a few hair ties near the bed. Ironing board was broken and had to resort to ironing clothes on the dinning table. Refrigerator had a little bit of residue left inside, we’re unsure of what it was.

I enjoyed the hotel's comfort, friendliness, and cleanliness. I didn't like that you had to pay for everything. Wi-Fi wasn't even free, so I had to use my hotspot from my phone. In addition, you have to pay for breakfast because it isn't complementary, which should be since you're paying for everything else. I would recommend it again, but I wish they would allow free Wi-Fi and breakfast. It would make it a 10/10 instead of an 8/10 in my book.

Close to 6th street

Staff was very helpful and the restaurant provided a very nice breakfast. Loved the location.

PRICEY PARKING BUT EASY... GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICES NICE PEOPLE
- 4/5
Wonderful beds with plenty of pillows. Great room but I felt there were excessive charges for everything. Unable to self park. $75 for “incidentals.” Breakfast additional.
- 5/5
Hotel and location was great. Parking was ridiculously expensive.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly
- 5/5
Our room included a living room area and kitchenette separate from the bedroom. The bathroom was spacious with a shower/tub combo. I would only suggest a longer shower curtain liner because the floor will get wet no matter how many times you tuck the liner in the tub. Access to the elevator was easy and quick. We did not need housekeeping to replenish our room however they were available/visible if needed. I would highly recommend this hotel, however I would call to ask questions if you are needing clarification on anything.

This suite hotel is very comfortable and convenient. The stuffs are friendly. Thank you!
- 5/5
The amenities were top-notch, and the on-site dining was fantastic. The location was also perfect, conveniently close to the State Capital. Overall, my stay exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to visit again. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable experience!

Close proximity to the Capitol.

Very nice hotel and close to the capital building in downtown Austin. Easy walk to the Texas Book Festival. The only negative thing is there is no onsite parking available. You'll either have to use the hotel valet or self park in a nearby parking garage.
- 4/5
Great hotel. Woke smelling some type of odor. But very clean and great people.
- 1/5
We never checked into this hotel and you have charged our AE and are not giving us back the money for credit. I will never use Hilton or hotels.com or Expedia again. Too bad. My husband and I are retiring and planning on traveling a lot
- 1/5
Our room had a leak that required a very loud air fan to try to dry out carpet. There was mold in our shower that we asked to get cleaned and they did not. We also had to ask after being gone for them to clean our room. They wiped down the bathroom but nothing else. Beds werent made and no restock of toilet paper or kleenex. Very dissatisfied this visit especially for the cost of the room for only 2 nights

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we had a fabulous stay at the Double Tree. We even extended our stay by one extra day. Haven’t stayed at a Double Tree in years, and was pleasantly surprised. Will be making them my choice of hotels in the future.

Well managed, spacious room, maybe getting close to needing a refresh, but most convenient if you have business at the capital.

Gian provided excellent service at check in and we were able to enjoy a great night after our wedding.

Had to pay for parking
- 4/5
Enjoyed having an onsite restaurant that served delicious food. Didn’t enjoy not knowing ahead of time it was valet parking. Also, valet was accessible ONLY through phone (which wasn’t explained thoroughly) so when we called using valet button on in room phone we left message only to learn they didn’t have any way of getting our message. Beautiful room layout!
- 4/5
Easy to walk to 6th street area or all the way to the river. Our only complaint was some weird stains on the carpet and deteriorating toilet seat that could have been repaired.
- 1/5
Stayed at what they called the "Presidential Suite". The comforters had dirt stains on them, the hallway apparently had some major leak wherein they had blowers running to dry the mold riddled carpet. Absolutely ridiculous. This is a Hilton!???

The fitness facility is small but was clean and functional. Before you get on the Peloton be sure it's live - despite being connected to the WiFi network it wasn't activated. Every day, I received a text message from the front desk asking if I were enjoying my stay and if there were anything else they could do for me. Every. Day. Parking is NON-EXISTENT unless you pay the ridiculous fee of $57/day for their onsite valet. They work almost only with an app and begin hounding you for full payment immediately after they've taken your car, regardless of how far away your checkout date is. When you want your car, you can only request it immediately, you can't put in a request at 8 am that says you'd like your car at 9:30. AND they text you asking for tips. The daily valet rate is consistent with other hotels in the area but it's excessive.
- 3/5
Expensive. Beds horribly hard. Breakfast bufffet ridiculous expensive and no warning of cost.
- 4/5
Place was nice. Extra parking fees were a surprise. Way to high.
