I have been going to The Big Texan for over 15 years. It is by far my FAVORITE place to vacation. The food is EXCELLENT!!!!!

Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was amazing. I hope to stay here again in the future.

We changed to a downstairs room and they gave us a room that was occupied and we walked in on a family in their bed. There was no reserved parking for people staying at the motel so everyone from the restaurant took up parking. I don’t expect rooms to be spotless, it’s not a pricey hotel but it definitely didn’t feel clean. My husband was hung up on several times while we were standing outside of the room we thought was ours. Thankfully a manager from a separate property called to fix the issue, but I was told to contact Expedia for a possible partial refund and I can’t get ahold of anyone. I hate having a bad review, but I almost wish we would have just stayed at a cheaper place. It would have been the same quality with less drama.

We didn't have to interact with staff. I received a text with the door code and room number so that made it easy when we got there. The room was nice and clean. The only complaint I have is the sheets were kind of scratchy but overall it was very nice.

Dee (the person at the check-in desk) was very helpful and friendly. In fact, everyone that we came in contact with was friendly. Our rooms were not ready when we arrived, but we enjoyed going over to the gift shop at the Big Texan while we waited. The accommodations were very comfortable

This hotel thrives on its kitsch factor. So, doing it once felt necessary. The beds and pillows in the room were pretty bad. Did not have a great night’s sleep. The eco-friendliness of the hotel lacks seriously. Styrofoam coffee cups, many small lotion/soap containers. The vanity is crowded with things where a coffee/beverage station could be made elsewhere. For a one night it was okay, but wouldn’t stay again. The restaurant, historic that it is, is also a one time try. Food was actually pretty good. A fine oiled machine that very popular place is. You decide which part or hotel and/or restaurant you want to enjoy.

OK for a stop over

We had a room on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. If you want to specifiy first floor accommodations, do not use a third-partry booking service. The room was comfortable and clean. The only thing I didn't like are the "saloon doors" to walk into the closet/bathroom area. It is cute to carry out the theme, but they squeak when either my husband or I had to use the facilities during the night. And we're older so we visit it more frequently in the night these days! It was a task carrying our luggage up the stairs too. We don't want to leave anything of value in our vehicles these days. We enjoyed being here and we had two meals next door at the restaurant. You should check it out if you are in Amarillo.

The Big Texan Steakhouse and gift shop are an awesome, nostalgic experience. This is a very "Carnival" type environment, which stems from the owners background. We stayed in the Motel, very rustic, however clean. We stayed 5 days here, at best this is a 2 day stay place.

It was fine, not for the price per night, and there is basically no check in desk. The desk apparently closes at 10 which is odd seeing as their restaurant is open until 10:30 and still seats people so why no one would be at the hotel for late check in is very odd. We left at 9am the day and the front desk was STILL not open which is again odd seeing as their restaurant opens at 8am. They make you do all these forms to check in…and then nothing we didn’t get a confirmation email on how to check in or one for checking out I just got a text each time telling me thank you for checking in or out, but never information on how to actually do that. The number is very hard to get through to check in, you have to basically spam #2 when that guy starts talking during the main menu and you get someone from their neighboring facilities to help(that lady was absolutely wonderful). The whole process was insanity and for almost 200 a night they can have someone helping you to check in and out AND for all other things needed(like the fact there was no coffee or sugar in the room). I would rather have spent the night at any place next door, for the same amount of money, and gotten a way better experience.

Expedia rated the property 8.5-9.0. It was a 5-6 at best. Not sure the comforter was clean. Bathroom floor boards really dirty. Looked recently decorated with new floors, chairs and coffee table. Price was right for what we got. But again, I booked on rating, not price. Adjacent to Big Texan Steak house which is great!

I checked in online and afterwards was sent a room number and a code to unlock the door. I was driving in late from Abilene and I don't like to look at my phone while I'm driving. When I got there, there was a text message on my phone saying enjoy my dinner and that the deadbolt had been locked. Sure enough when I got to the room the dead bolt was locked and I couldn't get in. Nobody was at the front desk so I called their number. I wasn't able to get a hold of anyone from Big Texan but I was able to talk with someone from one of their "sister" hotels. The lady called the Big Texan front desk person at home to try and find out what happened. Big Texan rep said that "I already checked in."??? Turns out she gave my room to someone else and they must of been fully booked because they wouldn't give me another room. I ended up having to stay at the "sister" property (Cactus Cove Inn & Suites) 3 miles down the road. By the time I got checked in there it was after midnight. And while that hotel turned out to be fine the whole experience was something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

I loved the theme, the friendly staff, the ample laundry facilities, and the Big Texas Steak Ranch!

The Big Texan Steakhouse is a top notch restaurant. The hotel, not so much! The only thing good about the hotel is it's location next to the restaurant. If you aren't eating at the restaurant you would be better off staying somewhere else. This hotel is 2 stars at best and that's being nice.

Parking is horrendous! The adjoining steak house customers and employees take up all the parking in front of the motel. We had to walk a long way through the parking lot with our bags, The noise from the highway is terrible. You won't get much rest or sleep here. The steak house was great! The food was delicious.

We enjoyed our stay. The only thing is I wish there was a dog water station in the dog park as pups can overheat on the black pavement quickly

It’s super cute, the beds were comfy, the sink in the bathroom plugged up. The TV wasn’t working and my husband had to reconnect the HDMI cable , the carpet needs to be shampooed, gross.

Facility has character, but is showing it's age. Staff was very accommodating, friendly and professional. They responded promptly to each of our requests/questions.

Everything was very clean and super cute. There were a couple of maintenance issues, but nothing we couldn't get past. After all, it is a old hotel and we were warned. I would highly recommend staying here.

Enjoyed the Steakhouse. Definitely worth the stop if you're hungry! The room we stayed in could of used some updating. Motel was, Meh, & okay, but we will stay elsewhere on our way back through Amarillo.

Close to Palo Duro Canyon for hiking!

So busy with cars off of a very busy freeway and very busy frontage road. I would not recommend bringing your dogs. Room was cute and clean and comfortable the rest was not good. Just kind of a very dirty place outside. Room was clean staff was good. Food was terrible at the restaurant.

Great staff. Quirky but good!

Wasn’t sure of the checkout policy since no one was at the office. I ended up messaging the property when we left. The location is a bit noisy with the interstate and the airport so close. But that can’t be helped. Found the sound machine the next morning. Would have helped. The check in was so easy with them sending a message and I was able to handle everything prior to arrival and the room number was given to me along with door code.

I wanted to stay at a place that had history/nostalgia and along Route 66. I think Big Texan lives up to that. The steak place next door. Several amenities added to keep up with more modern hotels. Sometimes you can’t separate nostalgia and old. The worse thing about old places is that they usually don’t have enough electrical outlets. Didn’t care for the stairs, but I did know of them before reserving. Place lists “balcony”. Only balcony I saw was the common balcony outside the front door. NOT a private balcony.

Its in a good location and right next to the steakhouse. This quaint motel was probably really nice 15 years ago, when I imagine was the last time the rooms were upgraded. Now its just old and tired. Both the TV and Wi-Fi were spotty at best. Due to a weak signal both basically didn't work after 7pm.

It’s a fun motel to stay in. Plus you walk across the parking lot and there’s the Big Texan restaurant for dinner. Best steaks!!!! And a Brewery to boot!

Walls between rooms aren't very private when it comes to sound. Woken up by the tv in adjoining room way way to early.

Nostalgic, old motel feel. Price point is a bit high for old motel. The room was clean, only 2 washclothes, beds were comfortable, parking was convenient, close proximity to The Big Texan Steak House.

The motel is almost non-contact with the office. Everything is done on-line. Check in, getting room combo. They have no free breakfast. Very basic - but they go for the western look and decor. They live and die with the Big Texan Restaurant next door. Huge dining. If you have to have a steak (well done) you better opt for chicken. Ours was sent back 2x, and we gave up after that.

The Big Texan Motel was such a fun and unique stay! The western theme, clean rooms, and convenient location made it a great experience. Loved being close to the restaurant and all the Texas-themed atmosphere. Definitely a memorable stop in Amarillo!

It’s a place to stay. Nothing fancy. I do get an exceptional night of sleep despite the sad mattress and pillows. Would I come back? No. Was it a memorable experience. Yes!

Very cool place to stay. Room was clean. The only negative was that this location is supposedly part of Expedia VIP Access. If you have silver status you receive an extra perk which depending on the location could be a free breakfast or discount on dinner etc. I mentioned to the front desk and she said she didn’t know anything about it that she would call the manager and let me know. She never contacted me back and I never saw the manager therefore I didn’t receive my extra perk. Nothing against the property itself but the staff should have been more communicative.

The location was excellent and the restaurant next door was on point. We were unfortunately right in front of the stairs and we could hear people running up and down the stairs until very late. At one point it sounded like someone was trying to break into our room.

The picture of the room is not what it looked like when we got in there. There were no antlers on the wall. There were no cute bedspreads. It was just plain tan comforters. The walls were just like plywood not nice knotty pine. The restaurant though was excellent. The ambience was very cool. Just disappointed about the room. it was very clean. The shower was warm and had great pressure.

This place was cool. I felt like I was home on the range! Very convenient to the Big Texan restaurant which is a must do if you are a meat eater!

We enjoyed our quick stay overnight! When we checked in, the lady was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and was far enough from the highway that we couldn't hear the traffic. The only downside was the water heater in the room for our showers was cold. We will stay here again.

We stay here annually. Its always clean and affordable. Nothing fancy but has a great shower and a spacious room. Perfect for an overnight stay.

Also…while this has nothing to do with the hotel itself, it’s worth keeping in mind , the hotel is right next to the steakhouse, which is open later and people drink too much . We had to text the hotel and let them know there was some drunk women crying and yelling well beyond 1 am, the hotel was fast to send someone out to deal with it so that was good.

Clean and comfortable rooms, cold AC, right off the highway and just minutes to the airport, plus a 30-second walk to their amazing steakhouse. Highly, highly recommended. And the woman working the front desk could not have been nicer. She was very pleasant and immediately made me feel like an old friend. I’m already booking my next stay here.

The rooms are like you expect nothing fancy. I was disappointed when I heard that they charge different rates depending upon availability.

Very clean.. Only 2 electrical outlets and when you plug your cord into either of them, they were loose.the walls are rough sawn lumber so not a good place to bring kids as they would have splinters in their hands for sure. Staff was nice. Price was high for what you get. No breakfast. No coffee maker.

This was a fun motel. The vibe was so cool and it was right by the restaurant. We made this a pitstop in between a move. And I have to say being able to go to the Bar the night before after a long nights drive walk to the hotel in time to wake up for breakfast was amazing. The room is super cute. Very clean and we were happy with both the hotel and the restaurant.

Location to the steakhouse

We chose to stay at the Big Texan because of the cool vibe. Our room was a good value but needed some spiffing up. There is a lot of road noise from Route 40. Unfortunately the motel can't do anything about that, so we were grateful that we had brought ear plugs. Maybe you could ask for a room in the back to cut down on the road noise. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and it was nice to walk over to the restaurant for dinner.

Clean, comfortable, a little noisy due to the freeway. I had a good dinner over at the steak house, slept great in the comfy beds and the shower was awesome and invigorating! The only thing missing was having my family with me, this is always where we stopped on road trips to Missouri.

Delivered everything it promised! I've wanted to stay here for years and finally for the chance. It is a no-frills, roadside motel, but you can walk over from the steakhouse, it's adorable on the outside and functional on the inside, it has a little dog park - it was everything I hoped for.

the ceiling in the bathroom covered in mold, the bar style door was off/ broken hinges.. unfortunately,even though they said there was a spot for Dogs (a fenced area ) ,, other guests were allowed to stay in it all night drinking, smoking & playing cards , while not having any animals & keeping those of us that needed that area desperately, unable to use..

Hot water was turned off. When I turned it on, the faucet leaked.

The beds were a little hard for my taste and the saloon doors were a pain. The cement walkway on the second floor was cracked and very uneven.

The Texas western decor was great! The colors and designs on the motel front were amazing. If you are looking for the Ritz this is not your place. Down home fun place to stay. The steak house next to the motel is awesome! Some things are a little dated, but it was no big deal. Great western feel to me!

We always have a great experience here, and the staff for check in were super accommodating when we requested a late check out due to a sick kid and us wanting some extra time for some meds to kick in. Highly recommend!

Cute little motel with basically everything you need. Bed was comfy, and the area was not as noisy as you might expect given the location. The exterior of the building is super cute. Only thing we could have used is an elevator, but luckily there’s only 2 levels.

I liked staying in the back part because it was quiet I requested a bottom floor but the hotel was busy so I didn’t make a issue of it. it was hard for me to navigate the upper floor but the room was clean and the staff was friendly. The keypad on my door would not always work. Had to punch in the code 3 or 4 times.

I’ve stayed here three times and enjoy the Route 66 history behind the place. The steak place next door is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (which is super convenient) and the room have comfy beds with lots of pillows. This place is a good option for everyone to include horses (you can board them at their stables). Check it out!

We had a great stay at this motel. Check in was super easy with a provided door code. The room was unique and charming, but nicely updated as well. The Big Texan restaurant/gift shop being within walking distance was a huge bonus after a long day of driving. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

The rooms pictured on the site are not what you get. No upgrades even when paying for the upgraded suite. Door codes didn’t work, pool was closed but listed as an amenity. The room was dirty and run down.

I do wish TVs would have been a tad bigger and the mini fridge seemed to be just cold enough but not fridge cold. Also the wires could be hidden better. We did notice the shower would continue to drip constantly despite being turned off completely.

I would stay here again. It’s clean and comfortable.

The room was very clean. Huge bathroom . Parking was close to the room. Staff pleasant. There was no comfortable chair to sit on. They have put a lot of money into upgrading an old style motel. Overall, it was good, but overpriced.

The motel is right off the interstate and across from the Big Texan restaurant which are pluses bur can be minuses because of the noise but if you have good earplugs you'll be fine. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were hard. The shower had good pressure. Overall we enjoyed our overnight stay

Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. It was a very interesting property. We did not interact with any staff because everything was sent to us via text and email to access the room. My son didn’t like the room because he has a fear of heights, and there were stairs only and not an elevator in the building we stayed in. I did request a first floor room since this was our second time staying in this hotel, but didn’t hear back on this request and we checked in to another second floor room. Overall, this was a nice day, but if my son is with me, I probably wouldn’t pick this hotel again. As mentioned above my son as a fear of heights, so an elevator would have been nice

Super kitsch. I don't know it was really inexpensive and I found the bed to be comfy. I travel with a sound machine so was not bothered by any noises. Front desk was very kind!

Neat stay, the beds were okay, the ac works very well! We enjoyed our room overall, we didn’t try the restaurant cause it was busy but we ordered from Black Bear Diner and all had breakfast for dinner, it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

While everything was clean, and the themed room was cute, it was missing a few things. And these can well be overlooked for the amount paid for the room. We had swinging doors between closet/bathroom area. Yws, they were cute, but they were spring loaded, not the kind you can prop open. You had to go through the squeaky doors every single time. Even in the middle of the night to get to the bathroom. The window had shutters, which helped with the western sun in the late afternoon/evening. There were no hooks...at all. Nowhere in the bathroom. Could have helped to have a luggage rack in the closet, but I just used the desk. There are a handful of hangers in the closet.Great location next to the restaurant. It's definitely worth the price. I would return again if in the area.

Very clean rooms, loved the theme and décor, great price only downside would be the bed could use an upgrade as it was squeaky whenever you moved and the bathtub filled up with water when we showered, not good draining.

The room was fairly clean, and it was quiet. But....we could not get the television/cable system to work at all. If we wanted/needed to see newscasts, entertainment TV shows or movies, we had to use our phones for that. There was no closet in the room, and only 2 drawers available for clothing. There was no luggage rack to set an opened suitcase on for clothing storage. The 2 wooden chairs were uncomfortable. The refrigerator was not level, and it felt as though the door was loose. Other than that, yeah, it was okay. There is no breakfast provided by the inn, but for a walk across the parking lot to the steak house, breakfast is available for a fair price. Parking was great. Would I stay there again? Probably not.

Can’t say enough about our stay. We will definitely be back next year. Dee, Jimbo and Frito hope you had a great time at the Savannah Bananas baseball game!!!

Easy parking and good food

Our room was great and staff we encountered very nice but it was mid-April so pool and hot tub were nut open to try out.

It’s kind of an iconic place to stay, but it’s definitely seemed better days. My bed squeaked, the bathroom was small and the walls had obviously had some damage and been repaired

I only had decaf coffee in my room and it was 4:30 in the morning when I realized that so of course no one was available to amend that for me

The restaurant had the best steak. Room is a little outdated but still very clean. I stayed for one night as we were passing through so the convenience of the restaurant was nice.

The bathroom in our room was horrible! The tub was an old broken down jetted tub with moldy caulking. The old jets were closed up by messy white caulking. The original valve was hanging out of the wall of the tub and if you touched it- it fell off in your hands with 3” of copper pipe attached to it. The ceiling was stained and cracked and peeling paint. The fan did not work in the bathroom. The shutters were not aligned making the room bright and the door had a wide gap underneath it. The cleaning staff should be ashamed of this room by not reporting it to be repaired! I have stayed here many times as I pass through Amarillo and after this stay … I don’t believe I will be coming back!! I tried to get a refund through Hotels.com but they couldn’t help me. We didn’t notice the bathroom until after dinner and we left early. I didn’t have time to contact the desk… very disappointed this time… this room needs to be repaired properly!

Very clean rooms, staff is great. The Big Texan restaurant serves some of the best steaks in Texas. Always cook3d to perfection with reasonable prices. Family friendly and right across the parking lot from the motel. They brew their own beer which is served ice cold. The rooms are on the noisy side, but livable. Pet friendly also..nice little dog area.

We had a great experience at the Texan Hotel. It’s full of character and has that classic Route 66 novelty that makes your stay feel special and memorable. The room was comfortable, and the overall vibe was fun and unique. One of the best parts was being able to walk to a nearby restaurant—super convenient after being on the road all day. A great choice if you’re looking for something a little different from a standard hotel.

Good overnight stay, friendly staff, ample parking, some type of nightlight was built in to television frame and I could not figure out how to turn it off, very difficult to sleep when it seems like a flashlight is shining in your face, walls are very thin, so every noise is very audible, plenty of towels in bathroom, stocked with toilet paper, microwave, refrigerator, vanity area with sink, toilet and bath tub with shower in separate room with door, saloon doors leading into vanity area are very squeaky. We’ve stayed here twice, ate dinner at Steakhouse next door, and this room was more updated than the one prior. It is a viable option for an overnight stay when passing through.

They don't serve breakfast but if you want a great one the on property restaurant is awesome.

Our stay here was memorable. The western decor of our room was such a delight. Room was clean and beds comfy. Location was perfect after a long drive and to go straight to dinner at the steak house. We would highly recommend to anyone.

Very cool pet friendly hotel connected to The Big Texan. Easily accessible and right off the I40. The restaurant is directly across the parking lot and was excellent. I had a great stay and looking forward to staying again.

Really enjoyed our stay. The best part was the water pressure in the shower😊. The motel is themed and decorated in old Taxes style. We got take out from The Big Texan. The food was great and a fun place to walk around. One thing that would make it better would be a better blanket on the beds.

I paid for a deluxe room and got a standard room. The photos of the room did not look like the room I got. There was no nice cow hide rug on the floor. The walls were all plywood with scrawled signatures all over. The bathtub had dirty stains on the bottom. My children’s feet were black after taking off their shoes. The bath faucet was leaking and dripped all day and night.

This is a really nice place to spend the night. Its a little old but its allso unique. Close to get off the road and food at your door you could say. Our room only had a pull down shade so was kinda worried about privacy. My daughter said her room and shatters for the windows.so that would have been nice. We would stay again

They encourage graffiti on the room door, which detracts from the western decor of the room and makes the room feel grungy. The bathroom, while I don’t mind something dated, it was beyond that: water leaking in the tub, water scale on the shower wall, toilet seat worn down to the wood. I chose not to use the shower. Bedspread was stained and old. The whole place needed sprucing up. The Big Texan was a great place back in the day, but feels like it’s riding on its reputation now.

This was a fun stop on our cross country road trip. Unfortunately we did not get in until 3am and we did not get to enjoy it fully, but we hope to stay again.

Had she been attentive and replaced the mac n cheese right away, i wouldnt have said anything about the food. The rest was fantastic. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and i will go back, i will just make it very clear to my waitress that i expect the service to impress me as much as the food. We sampled a flight of beers, which I highly suggest. Each one was really good. Most of us had adult beverages. One of us had Salmon, it was the biggest most beautiful piece of salmon ive seen at a steak house. We had Ribeyes and Prime Rib... very high on the list of best steaks Ive had. The rolls are delicious and they have really good ranch dressing.

Room was very old, not super clean. No bedspreads on the beds, only very used blankets. No washcloths or hand towels. Only bath towels. Steps only. No elevator. Bare floors, not carpeted. Heater ran the entire night and never shut off. Not a good stay at all and will not go back.

We had dirty water coming up through the drain of our tub after we checked in, and when we reached out to staff to ask for help, they didn't even respond until we mentioned it again at checkout. It was gross and we couldn't use our tub/shower because of it. There was also dried food stuck to the quilt. :( It was too bad, because it was kind of a neat place otherwise.

Our stay at the hotel was excellent, thanks to the attentive and helpful staff. We enjoyed skiing at Vail, and the shuttle bus was very convenient. The drivers were always friendly and attentive, and bartender A C provided superb service. The bar offered a great selection. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience.

The room was clean enough and fairly quiet but the bed was rock hard and the bedding was terrible. We booked a suite which was actually just two room next to each other, kind of disappointing and deceptive.

The unattended barking dogs in the room next door helped drown out the loud sound of the highway, which leaves me unable to recommend the Loud Texan!

Freeway noise was unbearable, no phone in the rooms. Office isn't manned at night or early morning. Unwanted wake up text at 7am telling you how to check out for the fifth time. Then a follow up text at 7:05am telling you the same thing. Will tell you they didn't get your special needs message even though all your other reservations through Expedia got them. In 74 years of traveling this was the worst stay ever.

This motel was soo cute! Felt like I time traveled into an old western town. The details for the interior design were so thoughtful. Would totally stay here again.

Spotless room, puppy friendly, great water pressure (I know that’s a weird thing to mention but after a long day on the road I appreciated being able to SCRUB DOWN). Also love the kitsch factor of the little town they have set up and the convenience of the restaurant and brewery! What a great reprieve.

Of all the hotels I've stayed in that cost over $100 a night, this was the one I'd least like to remember. There was no service from the staff, and I just wanted to leave as quickly as possible.

The lady at the desk was very friendly and welcoming. Maybe at one time long ago, the facility was nice. Our room 109 needed some care. The plaster on the walls in the bath was very noticeably damaged in several places. The room was clean. Housekeeping made up only one bed, which was odd. We had an open suitcase on the other one, so maybe that was the reason. We didn’t prepare for housekeeping since so many hotels don’t do it unless you ask, so I guess it was nice. Not enough towels for four. When hotels make you state how many guests, they should prepare for that number. The shower head was much too wide for the small space, so that when you tried to get into the shower, water would spray outside the tub and if you tried to turn it on when you got in, you would get cold water with no corner to stand till it warmed up. The pressure was great and if the head had been sized for the space, it would have been good. We appreciated the hospitality but the facility is just too outdated.

When you pull up you feel like you are on a movie set for a western. Rooms are all individually decorated and clean. The restaurant next door looked great although we had to get our food to go because we had our dog with us.

Loved the easy contactless check-in. The pictures of rooms looks like a newer version. I also picked the cheaper rate, so not complaining. Bed is on firmer side, but we slept fantastic!! Shower has great pressure and hot water! TV was little, but we were there to rest. Plugs were hard to comeby, but was great for what we paid. And the steakhouse next foor was so good!!

The floor was tile, it looked clean but it was very gritty. The toilet was very small in the corner beside the ironing board and under the shelf to for the iron.

After a long day of driving and hiking, the motel is convenient and to be on site of the famous restaurant is a plus. Room is clean and comfortable. The parking lot lights do come through the shades. Did not have breakfast, however the Big Texan Restaurant does have breakfast.

We had no contact with any staff as it is self-checkin/out. The bed was the worst!! There was a leak in the ceiling that was not repaired so it was rotting ceiling/drywall - only good thing is the proximity to the Big Texan Steakhouse

As always very happy! I stay at the Big Texan a lot. Room was clean and well worth the money. Requested a ground floor room and got it.

Check in was smooth, room appeared to be clean, and the bed was super comfortable. However while turning down the bed we found a used face mask between the fitted and flat sheet. The shower curtain could also stand to be changed as it was pretty ripped.

The rooms were very clean and smelled fresh. The decor matched the ambiance of the Big Texan. The staff were great to deal with when we required batyeries for our TV remote.

The shower/tub area sucked bc the shower liner kept attacking me while I was trying to shower so I had to put it outside the tub and water ended up all over the floor. My dad HATED the saloon doors into the bathroom sink area haha. He was not a fan of all the sharpie graffiti all over the wall but I liked it and enjoyed adding some drawings. For a super “texased” out room idk why they had sea shell bedding??? The room was meh but their restaurant next door RULES. It’s a totally ridiculous experience. They have an over the top 72oz free steak challenge on a stage w a timer, TONS of taxidermy animals, a huge rad gift shop, a carnival rifle game, a Zoltar machine, a chill back bar area, a quick bites bbq counter, and my personal favorite…this super dark “Old Sparky” art installation in the corner where you feed it a dollar and this full size man puppet strapped in an electric chair comes to life asking to borrow ur cell phone so he can call the governor and then he gets zapped over and over and is screaming lol. Also loved petting the street cats outside the steakhouse and seeing the horses in the horse hotel out back. 10/10

We arrived late and didn’t check in at the office but I did receive email updates with clear instructions for arrival and departure. We booked a double suite with adjoining rooms and couldn’t be more impressed with the cleanliness. The place is niche with lots of cool decor. One downfall was the actual mattresses in our particular rooms. They were clean and the blankets were cozy but the mattress was not comfortable. All in all, it definitely worked for the night and I would book this.

everything was just fine. not happy there was no hot water Wednesday morning, but we made do. the shower drains very slow and the exhaust fan does not work. room was clean and well taken care of each day. I would stay again and would recommend this place to others........but ditch the saloon doors between the rooms......very ugly and obnoxious trying to get from room to room. thank you....my friends room was ok but there was no closet area to hang her clothes.....

Did not have to go to the front desk to check in. After making the reservation they sent me the room number and door code. We found this to be a very good way to check in. The room was very clean. At first we were a little apprehensive because there was writing all over the interior door and some writing on the walls. In the end, with the swinging doors leading into the bathroom we found our stay at The Texan motel to be very enjoyable. 👍👍

The noise level was so loud, you can literally hear everything. The building would randomly shake, and the air conditioner's noise when turning on was concerning. Our room had no windows, which gave it a creepy feeling of being trapped, and it didn't help that somone randomly knocked on our door at 1 a.m., and there being no peep hole. The only good thing here was the steak we had for dinner, but other than that, we would never do it again. It was so bad we left waaaayyy before check-out at 4 a.m..

We are driving to Arizona from Tennessee and chose Amarillo as our halfway point. We chose this property for its convenience to the interstate and the steakhouse next door. After 12 hrs of driving, it was great to not have to find dinner! Contactless check in and check out was amazing! We loved the decor and would definitely stay here again!

Room was cute. Hotel was cute. Really enjoyed our stay. Only issue was no water pressure in bathtub, i mean it was just a trickle. and fixture was hard to turn off. It was leaking. Not a deal breaker. Was a nice motel for overnight stay.

It was okay. Not unpleasant and not great. Older and certainly in need of some attention to detail. Had an odd smell I couldn't pin point. Not bad, just strange. The shutters for the window had many holes that had clearly been plugged up with paper. I'm not saying this was a bad experience. It was pleasant and a good stop for the night.

Everything was great

The best part about this place is I could go straight to my room without having to check in at a front desk. The keyless entry with a code was so convenient, and much easier without having a key that gets lost or deactivated. The pet relief area was also great for my dogs as mine like to go potty off leash. I didnt have time to try the steak house next door but it was good to know a dinner option was close. The staff were available via text message for questions or requests. Finally the room was very clean and had a unique western style. I would stay again if I'm ever passing through Amarillo.

Breakfast was great

Staff was amazing upon check in. Room was clean and comfortable. The highway traffic was extremely loud as well as thin walls we could hear neighbors swinging bathroom doors all night. Other than that the white noise machine was a great addition to drown out that noise. Comfortable stay for price and location to delicious restaurant The Big Texan!

We checked out at 5am and got out of there. Cockroaches all over the bathroom and tv console. Would never recommend. PLEASE Big Texan motel do something about it.

Fun atmosphere but the beds could use an upgrade

Everything was great with my stay and the room I was in. Walked over to the steakhouse for dinner and it was great as well.

It was very reasonably priced although very basic room.

Absolute tourist trap. I was assigned to room 220. The back of the entry door was covered in graffiti. Comments replying to other comments so no, it wasn’t all from one person. Caked up lint everywhere, hard bed, ceiling Sheetrock had a leak and looked disgusting, shower was leaking when I entered the room including an old old tub and the wall beside the bath regularly gets wet. Absolutely zero care about what the customer walks into. GROSS. DO BETTER.

Doing a route 66 trip. Saw the BIG TEXAN and had to stay! Mary at front desk was extremely helpful with our reservations and very sweet. Walked next door for a Big Texan dinner which was fabulous. Lots of fun souvenirs in the gift shop. Very fun place to spend the night!
