Its location. Good breakfast. No coffeemaker. Few amenities for a 4 star hotel.

Pros: professional staff. Great location right on the edge of the Old Town. Nice, clean room. Breakfast ok. Cons: although my room was ready I was asked to wait until 2.30pm to check in as per the hotel rules - minor point but the staff were quite happy to let me sit in the reception while the clock ticked away. Bar area simply awful. No ambience. A pet hate of mine is where the bar is located in the foyer of the hotel so you are sharing your drinks with people going in and out wheeling squeaky suitcases. Wifi patchy with plenty of buffering.

Location and Staff nothing

Good location and the room was super clean. Decent breakfast. I don’t like posting negative reviews but I really didn’t love this place. One front desk staff person took several phone calls before acknowledging my existence and the other ignored me completely despite my standing right in front of the check in desk. In fairness I was in sweaty bike clothes - but I was also holding passports which is the first thing they ask you for in Italy when you check in. It was pretty off putting. Plus, in no universe is the place a 4 star hotel. It feels like a low end Ibis and it is in need of a face lift. But the room was very clean and ultimately that is what matters most.

Excellent hotel in a superb location. Barbara at the reception is lovely and amazing. To reach the hotel by car put via Roma 10 instead of 15 in the navigation s/w. Your life will be easier.

Breakfast could be better

Location was excellent... breakfast was very good.

Perfect location, clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was very bad. Only cold cuts and sweets. The staff didn’t clean the tables properly. Sometimes there was a lack of folks and knives.
-
Fantastic location just a short block from stazzi and main square and tourist office. Breakfast selection and room excellent with many very good choices... Top notch. Room very nicely done in light wood panels and bathroom very nice. Staff helpful. Parking under building was very convient. Just an excellent place to stay. Nothing.

The staff were very cordial and helpful. The breakfast had many choices and was very good. Our room was very nice as was the bathroom. Good shower! NO AIR CONDITIONING! They told us that by law it could not be turned on until next month. Our room was hot at night ,after 80 degree days, and very uncomfortable.

The location is good, the breakfast good. The room size was perfect, but there was a lot of noise and the air conditioning didn't work well, it was too hot. There is a lot of noise and the air conditioning cannot be controlled from the room and the temperature is very hot.

If I could take home one thing from Italy, it would be our shower at this property. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the Sassi, but has all the modern comforts and more! The breakfast was insane and the service was top notch. My daughter was recovering from a sickness and they lent us a tea kettle so I could boil her some hot water! Parking on site was very easy and we had no issues with the ZTL. We love Matera and will be back!!

Luggage storage did not feel very safe ( not locked, luggage not tagged and checked). Breakfast buffet had several things empty while arriving late. Shower cabin was small.
