The Publisher, Downtown Fredericksburg, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

We didn’t get enough time to really enjoy as we were passing through but rooms were very nice and seemed like a decent area to stay.

Balcony was great, allowed for terrific air flow on a beautiful Spring day. Front desk staff were top notch!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a weekend trip to Fredericksburg. The staff were friendly, and were able to check us in early so we could drop off bags and explore. The hotel is in a fantastic location, surrounded by great restaurants and antique stores. The hotel itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable.

I booked my travel 2 weeks ahead of my stay and selected a king room with a balcony. When I arrived, I was informed that the room I booked was not available. I specifically selected the Publisher because of the balcony option. Had that not been important to me I could have stayed at the Courtyard which was less expensive and actually closer to my meeting location on Thursday. After some shuffling the desk clerk was able to put me in a beautiful corner room with 2 queen beds and a balcony, AND for my trouble, comped my breakfast! She was very pleasant and breakfast was delicious. I thought the hotel photos showed seating on the balcony and there was none on mine. Maybe it was only select rooms?

Slightly understaffed effecting numerous situations where the service was less than optimal.

Classy and comfortable

The sheets did not fit the bed. They need to upgrade to fitted bottom sheets.

1. The fridge had an odor of old food along with stains in it 2. The only mirror is the bathroom sink 3. There was nowhere in the shower to place my own toiletries; also difficult to wash legs without a step of some sort 4. The sink clogs and the water was cloudy, also food was coming out of the drain and there seemed to be an odor there as well 5. Called guest services/housekeeping 3 times and asked for pillows around 9pm, still had not received any by 2am. Called again and could not receive any during the night due to only one person on staff. Fortunately received complimentary breakfast. However, we still did not receive pillows the next day until we went downstairs to inquire. We then received new pillows, but there were no pillow cases on them. The staff assured us there were, but the original pillows we had were covered in an inner and outer pillowcase. The new pillows only had the inner pillowcase, and were crumpled up.

Everything

We had numerous issues - no glasses or coffee mugs - only 1 robe (other was empty hanger) - requested maintenance twice - no show - dusty/dirty areas in room. Additionally, my request for a quiet room was acknowledged - and in the system - but disregarded. We were in a noisy room right off the road which was loud. I asked to be moved and was told it wasn't an option. He stated the request was there and he didn't know why it wasn't honored. Dinner service at Five Chophouse was slow and below standard - Breakfast however was great! When I explained everything to the front desk upon check out, there was no attempt at further resolution. We will not return - very disappointing stay.

The whole experience was nice. Definitely got what I paid for. The breakfast was great and the ambience was amazing. Beautiful property well kept.

The bed was a little too stiff and the parking was a little tricky but all and all it was great.
