Courtyard by Marriott Fredericksburg Historic District

The property is excellent; the facilities are excellent BUT some of the staff need training in hospitality especially for an exceptional property in a historic area. I have been twice in the last 3 weeks due to work, and it was the same both times. Both times, I had multiple experiences at the front desk where staff didn't even look up from what they were doing and said, "Can I help you?" with exasperated facial expressions that appeared as if I was an annoyance or chore. If this were an economy hotel I wouldn't think twice about it, but since this is a premium hotel, in a premium area I would expect just a bit more. In totality this property is wonderful and many of the staff were as well, the bar staff, the housekeeping staff etc...but the folks behind the counter, the face of the Hotel...not so much. This may seem picky, but I have the highest respect for the Marriott brand and travel around the world I pick this brand for the experience, and this was simply a mismatch.

Stayed one night for a girls getaway and it was perfect. Great location, cute little bar where we could sip cocktails and catch up, and quaint area for lunch and shopping.

Good location with good sized rooms. Bagel/sandwich shop opposite (Always Flavoured) is a great option for breakfast. We parked independently at the Sophia St parking garage which is where the hotel parking is offered. For us it saved $10 for one night stay.

The location was great. Everything of interest was a short walking distance. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We were told the housekeeping staff would clean every other day. Our room wasn't visited for our whole stay.

Breakfast was spectacular, but it was not included in the price. Parking on the street was a challenge (heavily restricted). The local parking garage was a pretty good deal ($8 per day), but if you opt for hotel valet parking (to the same garage half a block away) the hotel charges $16 per day).

Our room was clean but had a musty smell and the fridge was the tiniest thing I've ever seen (not ideal when traveling with kids!). The biggest negative was the parking - online it said on-site parking (valet and self-pay) but in fact the lot they send you to is a few blocks away.

There was this awful vibration coming from the floor when I stood in our bedroom. We could feel it in our bed at night. We probably should have asked for a different room. We purposely booked a room with a balcony to watch the Christmas parade only to be told the hotel has no balconies. This needs to be removed from the site. Misleading. $$$. My room was really large. I had a corner room that over looked the historic street. It is all decorated for Christmas. It's like being in a Hallmark movie. Staff are very friendly. The food from the Bistro was delicious.

I loved my stay very historic town with little to no activities to do around the hotel, for the price of location it could be less as far as things to do in the area and not being a modern town. Otherwise great hotel !!

Only downside was the balcony was inside, overlooking the bar. Which isn’t bad, it was fun but little disappointed, was expecting an outdoor balcony. But would book again and plan to next month.

Friendly staff at check in. Room was cool, quiet, and comfortable. We parked for free a few blocks away at the FXBG George Street Lot. Very walkable area. After we were settled we set out on foot to explore the town and hit a few bars and a restaurant for dinner. A great stay and hope to return if in the Fredericksburg area again.

We had a great stay in Fredericksburg. The Courtyard is situated ideally in the downtown historic district allowing us to walk to many desitinations. Parking was close and secure. We will be back for sure.

It's a nice hotel, the room was large. It's in a good location for the historic side of Fredericksburg. The manager was not helpful when the person next to us was beating on the wall and we were scared.

Hotel was nice enough but parking downtown was inconvenient, and prefer places including breakfast and a microwave in the room.

The staff were wonderful, the hotel was clean, rooms were comfortable and location was great as well if you’re planning on shopping/dining in downtown. The parking situation is not ideal. If you don’t pay the additional valet cost, you have to pay for a parking garage across the street which isn’t cheap.

Everything was fantastic about the hotel. There was a restaurant or club across the street that was playing really loud music until 11 or so at night. Could hear the bass right through the wall. It did quiet eventually but was annoying for a while.

Nice hotel, but our toilet didn’t work for the first 24 hours or so. The staff was accommodating and did their best to fix it in a timely manner. A partial refund would have been welcomed since we had to use the downstairs bathroom and it was not an inexpensive room. Most of the staff were wonderful, including the bar tenders and front desk staff at check in. However, the person who made my breakfast and coffee was a little rude and seemed like it was an inconvenience that I wanted to order. I would give it another chance if some type of credit were offered for the broken facilities.

This is a beautiful, clean hotel with some of the most rude staff I have ever encountered. If you expect to meet people that care about your stay or even want to make eye contact with you, you will not find that here. It’s really very puzzling.

This was the worst Marriott we have ever stayed in. The bathroom was not tidy et there was only one tiny bar of soap at the sink, no body lotion, or hand cream, nothing. Then bath had no markings on their dispensers as to what was what. You had to guess what was shampoo et washing soap. Total disappointment, we would never ever recommend this Marriot in Fredericksburg to anyone, Sorry not good at all. We will never be back. Cynthia Galbraith

It was great starting point for our first visit to Fredericksburg. We did a lot of walking and when we needed to drive, The valet parking turned out to be very convenient. The attached coffee shop was great.

I enjoyed sitting in the outdoors private courtyard. All of the Christmas decorations were a feeling of home away from home. There was decorations three floors up, totally beautiful. The rooms are exquisite and comfortable.

Hotel was very noisy. Street noise and from business below. This noise intrusion lasted until about 1:00am. I also thought the price of the room was on the high side for the accommodations. Otherwise the staff service was great and the room clean.

It was currently October 2nd. The month-long neglect might have explained the visible particles floating in the pool. In the pool room, the air return vent in the ceiling was 50% covered by dust (at best), or mold (at worst). Courtyard, don't neglect the pool facility! No safe in room/closet from what I can tell. Not the biggest, especially since that is communicated to you when reviewing amenities. No microwave either, perhaps there is one in the lobby. Everything else was great, and everyone who works here is friendly as usual. It really feels like "home" out of all the hotels we stay at. Breakfast note: Latte and Mocha are not mutually exclusive. I understand kitchen/bar staff aren't really starbucks employees. It really confused them when we wanted mocha flavor/syrup added to a latte. They were certain those were mutually exclusive menu items and you either ordered a latte, or you ordered "The Mocha". lol, no points off here.

It was currently October 2nd. The month-long neglect might have explained the visible particles floating in the pool. In the pool room, the air return vent in the ceiling was 50% covered by dust (at best), or mold (at worst). Courtyard, don't neglect the pool facility! No safe in room/closet from what I can tell. Not the biggest, especially since that is communicated to you when reviewing amenities. No microwave either, perhaps there is one in the lobby. Everything else was great, and everyone who works here is friendly as usual. It really feels like "home" out of all the hotels we stay at. Breakfast note: Latte and Mocha are not mutually exclusive. I understand kitchen/bar staff aren't really starbucks employees. It really confused them when we wanted mocha flavor/syrup added to a latte. They were certain those were mutually exclusive menu items and you either ordered a latte, or you ordered "The Mocha". lol, no points off here.

Staff was pleasant and welcoming. We chose to use the valet parking option at check in. Location is excellent. So much within walking distance so we didn’t need to drive during our one night stay. Amenities were appropriate and met all of our needs. Room was clean. Lightning in the room was minimal which was fine for most things but too dark to dig into luggage and search for items. Shower had little pressure and most of the water sprayed out the spigot for the tub. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

Parking was a problem. No valet came out at all.

Not the fault of the property, but there were obviously multiple loud gatherings among guests that went well into the early morning.

Terrible customer service. The service manager Andrew was extremely rude. The toilet didn’t work and there wasn’t a microwave.

Very clean, and highly recommended.

We stayed here for one night to break up the trip between SC and NJ. We could have stayed closer to I-95 for a lot less money but this choice was definitely worth the extra expense. There is no parking lot, but for $16 per night they will park your car in the public lot across the street which has round-the-clock security. We were able to walk to countless restaurants and historical places. There is no sit-down breakfast but there is a bar that is open until midnight. Our room looked down onto the lobby and had no windows to the outside which I wasn't crazy about, but we were only staying one night. If you are planning a trip to Fredricksburg I highly recommend staying here.

I was aware that there was no parking at hotel. It was several blocks away. Should be mentioned in website

I put a "do not disturb" sign on the door. When we left for the day, the sign was removed, and I asked one of the maids if she could replace the towels and make the bed. She said yes. Upon our return, the room was not serviced. When I informed the front desk about it the next day, I was told that I had to go through the front desk for room service because of the language barrier. It would have been nice if we had been told about this at check-in..

Downtown is pleasant and feels safe. Hotel is busy and clean. Our room was a handicap accessible, had a badly cracked sink. AC unit was loud and distracting while trying to sleep. Bar and dining area downstairs was good and the pastry shop was a delight.

The rooms were so clean, which we value. The staff, from front desk to cleaning, we top notch. The location is perfect! So close to all attractions and restaurants. Best stay besides home.

Beautiful location. We knew we would end up paying a higher rate for our stay because of the location, this also was reflected in higher prices for other amenities. The prices at the the Bistro were high but i do t believe that what we got for our money was worth it. If i pay Higher prices i expect to receive a higher quality experience... i do t believe that we received that.

Parking was kind of a pain. Parked in the garage but stayed in the area till about 1:00 the next day…we did local lunch…when I went to use the hotels ticket, said it was invalid and charged me $8. Also no breakfast of any kind included.

Shower in bathroom was clearly missed in cleaning. Hair everywhere. Staff/service was friendly and accommodations were comfortable.

Place was loud, wall are cery thin, even low talking from the next room could be heard as if they were in your room, bed was uncomfortable, not the cleanest wouldnt stay again not for 200+ a night anyway. 75 a night hotel at best.

The courtesy of the staff was warm and genuine. The room was great!
