Reviews
The hotel staff is generally helpful and friendly, with clean rooms being a common positive mention. However, the hotel's maintenance and repairs seem to be an issue, with multiple reviews mentioning broken or malfunctioning facilities. The hotel's pricing also appears to be a concern for some guests, who feel it is not appropriately priced for the quality of the stay.
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Clean rooms
- Poor maintenance and repairs

Checking in went smoothly and staff was helpful in directing us to area dining options. Even though the hotel was busy, our room was quiet and sleep was refreshing on comfortable beds. While enjoying a well stocked breakfast bar and fresh brewed coffee we were surprised that old time friends were also staying at this hotel so breakfast was a catchup time. The staff was very accommodating and expedited a delayed checkout . This Holiday Inn Express in Baytown was an excellent choice for us!
- 5/5
The location was great, the breakfast was amazing the food was fresh and hot. The room was very clean and comfortable as well as the staff was friendly. N/A
- 3/5
The room itself was decent and worked fine for a short stay, but there were a few issues. My wife noticed the hallway had a strong weed smell, which wasn’t ideal. There was also a beeping noise outside that went on through the night, and at one point it sounded like there was some street racing nearby. To be fair, we travel with a fan that helps drown out noise, so it didn’t completely ruin the stay, but it’s something other guests might struggle with. The breakfast was also pretty underwhelming compared to what we expected. Overall, it’s okay if you just need a place to sleep, but based on the rating, I expected a bit better—especially in terms of cleanliness and overall environment.

You had roaches
- 1/5
Have stayed in numerous Holiday Inn Express hotels and this was by far the worst. Desk clerk was nice. Everything else was terrible.
- 5/5
That the pool was closed on a hot 95 degree day
- 3/5
They gave us the wrong room. We had to stay in a king room instead of 2 queens. With 3 people.
- 5/5
Very good
- 4/5
Lovely breakfast options. Good was fresh and well organized. The lobby is GORGEOUS! Seems to have been renovated recently. Makes the hotel seem "new." However, the rooms are clearly not renovated. Hopefully this is in the works soon.
- 5/5
wonderful time, everyone was friendly and room and breakfast was great...will defiantly come back and recommend
- 1/5
I complained in the office, but nothing was offered. Being Hilton, I expected a better stay.
- 1.5/5
Proximity to restaurants and I-10 No milk or cereal at the breakfast —- “we’ll have to order milk” —- poor planning/anticipation. Mold at the edges of the bathtub grout - needs to be cleaned.
- 5/5
Breakfast was excellent
- 1/5
Woke up next morning everything still the same as day before. Checked into new room after front desk said they didn’t know what the problem was. Same issues with new room. On the way back to front desk a cleaning lady asked if everything was okay. So I told her the issues and she said that they had been experiencing these problems for a week. Terrible communication from the management. They should have notified everyone checking into hotel about the problems, before trying to take people’s money!
- 1/5
Water heater went out and took a day to get it fixed. My truck was stolen out of the parking lot!!!
- 1/5
The room was very run down cracks ,Roach and the tub needs to be touched up
- 1/5
Nice comfy bed and good breakfast Toilet handle broken, shower spit out brown water and then stopped
- 5/5
room was clean. Staff was amazing. Breakfast was basic but free we enjoyed our stay
- 4/5
Smelled a little muggy
- 3/5
The lady at the front was very nice. There were issues with the room not opening and she accommodated the best she could by putting us in another room. The room itself did have a vague smell of mildew though.
- 4/5
We liked the hotel very much but we were put in 1st room that smelled terribly musty and realized the window unit was somehow leaking and carpet was very wet - they changed rooms for us and 2nd was great! The maid knew carpet was wet when we talked next morning and they should never have let people in musty room
- 5/5
Clean and tidy
- 4.5/5
Upkeep is a little sloppy
- 5/5
Bed was comfortable. Hotel was clean. Breakfast was fresh and good.
- 5/5
We were in town for a wedding and the place was conveniently located, clean and quiet. I needed to grab a few items from the store and found that there was Walgreens within a walkable distance which was very convenient. We were able to check in early and all-in-all it was a pleasant stay.
- 2.5/5
Everything was broke (elevator, card didn’t work at first, card readers by the door, elevator went on and off from working, ice machine, pool was dirty)
- 4/5
Stay was nice. Front desk crew was very friendly and helpful. Pool was not well kept. Rooms were super spacious and beds were fine. Pull out couch felt like blankets on metal bars. The pool and pull out couch were my only issues. Nice and clean room, great customer service.
- 4/5
We are from Louisiana and normally stay at this particular hotel whenever we travel to Houston to see the Astros play. We have never had an issue before. We got into town an hour early and asked to check in but room wasn't ready. It was still ready a half hour before check-in, which I was grateful for because we were anxious to get where we were going. I'm not sure what kind of system is in place to notify housekeeping that guests have arrived into a certain room, but a few minutes of getting into our room, we heard a knock on the door and housekeeping came through so quickly we didn't even have a chance to say we were in there. Otherwise, the room was clean and bed was super comfortable. Everything was in proper working order except for the strobe light in the shower when it was turned on. We did not stay for breakfast as we were heading out early to get back home. The area is quiet and parking is convenient.
- 3/5
The lady at the front desk was lovely and helpful.
- 1/5
Our stay was ruined due to severe water damage at the property. We had no running water for the entire stay, which made basic needs impossible to meet. Even worse, the staff's response was completely unacceptable — they were unhelpful, evasive, and offered no real solutions. They promised a refund within 4 days, but we never received a single cent. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Absolutely unacceptable.
- 5/5
We were pleasedand happy with everything. Made our stay feel comfortable. Thank you.
- 5/5
It was great. We had an amazing experience.
- 4/5
Friendly staff , could’ve been more clean
- 4.5/5
USB chargers in room 319 didn't work had to buy a 110 adapter.
- 5/5
Nice and clean
- 5/5
The AC was not working and no other room was available, but the staff was sincere and tried to make it up with a discount
- 3/5
It was ok! Seemed like a little older Holiday Inn express…
- 4/5
Other than a smell as if they had water damage was a good stay
- 5/5
Very nice. Used for a stop over.
- 1/5
Every amenity in the room is broken, HVAC shower, phone, Internet, TV, refused to give me a refund. I would not let my dog sleep at this hotel.
- 4/5
My stay at Holiday Inn Express was nice but the services with Expedia thru hotels.com was awful. They booked my stay for one day and my reservation was for 2nights 3 days. They did not want to make the change of arrival date at all but insisted that I pay $150.
- 5/5
What we needed for our short stay
- 5/5
Well. Nice spacious bathrooms
- 5/5
Awsome beds
- 1/5
Looking for a refund. Room was horrible. They didn't even have a one king bed like I requested. And the first room they gave me had FEMA people in there. I will never go bed and use hotels.com often.
- 4/5
Beds were very comfortable; breakfast had many options; cinnamon rolls and bacon were our favorites. Check in was very quick. Ice machines didn’t work and laundry was out of order
- 4/5
A bit run down , our shower faucet was constantly running. I had asked it to be repaired the 1st day we got there and nothing was ever done
- 2/5
BUT....there were quite a few issues that are not typical of a Holiday Inn Express and it was quite aggravating. The outlets near the bed (they were built into the lamp) did not work. The alarm clock did not work. There was NO ice in the whole hotel (I asked...all of their ice machines were broken!). Breakfast ended at 9:30 on a Saturday, so I was there at 9. There was very little food available. It's not that it was all eaten before I got there...the place was empty. The pancake machine didn't work, only one type of yogurt in the fridge, the fruit area had only whole apples. I was sitting drinking my coffee, and they turned off the lights in the dining area at 9:26! in the bathroom, the paint was coming off the mirror frame and the door. There was a slight odor of paint in the room, but we did adjust, and the AC helped minimize the smell. Although it was safe, comfortable beds, and clean, the lack of amenities (which is why we usually book Holiday Inns) was frustrating and disappointing. With so many other hotels in that area, I will not stay at this one again.
- 3/5
Place needs a serious makeover!
- 5/5
Great experience. Would stay uere again.

Our stay was great! We came to Baytown to visit Pirates Bay and have a little mini staycay away from home in Houston; our check-in was easy and the front desk rep Nicole was amazing from start to finish. When we arrived in our room we noticed our television wasn’t working for some reason (tried all troubleshooting options) and needed more towels for the kids. I called the front desk and Nicole not only brought fresh towels personally, she also brought another television to replace the one that wasn’t working! She could’ve easily apologized for the non-working one and left it at that but she went above and beyond, we were truly grateful for her, she was amazing!
- 1/5
My stay at the Holiday Inn in Baytown was pretty bad food was awful. No one cleaned my room for three days. I did ask the managers were pretty bad talking. The hotel smells like smoked. My key card did not work most of the time.
- 1/5
Their room key was not working most of the time I stay there for today’s and I was not able to get most of the time around the other doors. The breakfast was pretty bad service was pretty bad. My room was pretty dirty. What’s there 2 days I asked for them to clean my room. Nobody came through man years were pretty bad loud talking.
- 1/5
The whole floor of the hotel reeked of smoke. Our hotel room stuck so bad of smoke it gave me a headache. When I open our bag of clothes at our home the clothes REEKED of smoke. It’s very upsetting seeing as how my children stayed with us. I would never suggest this place to anyone.
- 0.5/5
It was for my daughter birthday she wanted to swim We got a room.checked the pool . It was merky so we checked out right away
- 2.5/5
We have stayed at this property before and enjoyed it so much we extended our trip. The last time we stayed it was so clean and nice. This time could not have been more different. The second you walked in smelled moldy. Our room wasn’t ready, we were early so that was understandable. But even when it was check in time, it still wasn’t ready. The front desk staff said the cleaning staff hadn’t even started cleaning the room. She offered a king suite with a pull out sofa. She was very friendly about it. I accepted because we had been at a water park all day and we were tired. Our room however, was dirty and smelled horrendous. I knew they were booked so there wasn’t any other rooms available. So we just dealt with it. Then around 8:30pm the fire alarm in our room went off. I have never in my life heard a sound so extremely loud. It scared all of us and my children started screaming. I went to call the front desk and realized we didn’t have a phone in our room. So I used my cell to call the front desk. She had let me know it was a malfunction and hopefully it wouldn’t happen again. She said she was about to call us but then I let her know we didn’t have a phone in the room. She was shocked by this and said she would bring us one but never did. Our AC wouldn’t go over 72 also. Then around 6am the smell of weed or vape pen woke me up. The smell by our front entrance and door was insane. So strong that it woke me up! I woke up my family and we quickly got dressed and left the room. I also told the front desk staff about the smell. The worst part however was when we went outside to our truck. There was a man that was at the hotel the night before, and I guess he must have slept in his truck. When I went to get my children in the truck, I noticed the man did not have a shirt on and also had his privates exposed!!! I was in complete shock. We got in our truck and left. We will never return to this property.
- 5/5
We love the stay , super clean.
- 4/5
It was good for a two night stay, clean, felt safe.
- 5/5
I had a small issue that was resolved so quickly it blew my mind. Rooms were clean, all the amenities were spot on, and Management was excellent and very friendly. I'll be back soon!!
- 1.5/5
The elevator broke on the first day and we were on the fourth floor. And we are OLD. We weren't the only OLD people.
- 2/5
I was very disappointed with the property. I don't know what is going on with Holiday Inn lately. The room had a bad smell. There was a light missing in the bathroom. Also a leak in the tub. The blinds did not go down so we had the light from outside shining in. I was not pleased at all. Will not return.
- 4/5
The staff was extremely helpful when I had just stopped in for the night
- 4.5/5
I love how if there is a problem it’s taken care of. Love the cleanliness As long as I am not on first floor I am happy. As that floor was very loud. When I asked for another floor they moved me immediately and were so kind.
- 5/5
Halls were a little unkept. Room was clean.
- 5/5
They offered smoking rooms on the site but hotel is smoke free.
- 5/5
NA
- 2/5
The staff was helpful. The temperature in the room was so humid and uncomfortable. The room just felt dingy. The room above us was noisy and there was a lot of street noise.
- 3/5
Staff is great and the room was spacious. Breakfast is good but no plain coffee creamer, it’s hazelnut or vanilla and that’s it. Facility needs repairs. No cold water from faucet, bathroom fan not working, toilet running constantly, not enough lighting in the room. Generally old, worn decor, drawer on cabinet kept rolling out and getting in the way. It’s not a horrible place to stay but is not priced appropriately for what you get.
- 5/5
Good customer service
- 5/5
Comfy bed, yummy breakfast, cold room!! Perfect!
- 5/5
It was clean and safe. The staff was kind.
- 5/5
We had no issues with our stay! Staff was very friendly! Definitely will be back when visiting again
- 4/5
Hotel is old. Old furniture. Old fashioned. But, I imagine people stay jere for the view and the proximity to the main strip. Check in guy wasnt very friendly or welcoming. They were out of coffee at their continental breakfast but the view was pretty and the room was clean.
- 5/5
The warm welcome.
- 5/5
Cleanness Nothing
- 5/5
I loved how accommodating this hotel was. I stay at hotels regularly, and this will be my go to for now on. Nicole at the front desk was amazing!
- 4/5
This is the second time we've stayed at the Holiday Inn in Baytown Texas. We noticed this time they didn't have the same things on their bkfast menu, such as cinnamon rolls, omelets, fruit, and a few other breakfast items. This was kind of depressing cuz that's one of the reasons we like staying there. Even the pancake machine was not working.
- 2/5
Smelly lobby (bleach masking smoke?), ‘skunk’ smell in hallways and morning was terrible, rancid creamer, tile trim in bathroom off.
- 4/5
The morning breakfast was very good & the lady working the kitchen was excellent. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
The hotel staff was very professional and friendly.
- 5/5
Great location, quiet, easy parking. Very clean hotel and room. Our suite was very spacious. Bathroom and shower were huge. I don’t normally sleep well in hotel rooms due to no ceiling fan but I slept like a baby! The breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
When I arrived the front desk host was very polite, helpful and professional. The room was clean and had a fresh scent to it. Good breakfast that morning. Satisfied completely.
- 4/5
I really appreciated the customer service when I arrived, I believe his name was Elijah (could be wrong) but I have had such bad experience everywhere I go with people just not caring or being so unexcited about their jobs it brings you down too! Thank you for the great service & wonderful experience. The only downfall I had was the body wash was empty in the shower, other that that, my stay was GREAT!
- 5/5
The elevator was really slow.
- 4/5
It was overall pretty decent aside from the renovations going on and the elevator broke during my check-in with someone on it.
- 5/5
One of the nicest hotels in the area. Friendly service, clean rooms, great staff, and a peaceful/quiet night's rest.
- 1/5
Carpet was so dirty it carried an odor in the room. AC filter was also very dirty which carried a bad smell. There was a coffee spill in the stairwell for the 2 full days we were there and is probably still there till this day. Only thing that seemed to be clean was the sheets. What broke the camels back was a dog was barking on our floor maybe 4 doors down and it took about an hour of complaining for it to stop. This is around the time of 11:30PM. Hotel did give half off that night but I feel it should’ve compensated the entire night for waking us up 3 times. Couldn’t get back to sleep until 1AM and left early that next morning for a 6 hour drive. The poor compensation is what drove me to write the review.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
Everything was great! Hotel friendly and staffs were very nice and helpful!
- 5/5
Friendly personal, nice breakfast
- 2/5
Construction in the room next door, insects crawling around, guest adding to the room we were in and trying to come in on us while we were sleeping
- 5/5
It needs a fresh coat of paint in the bathrooms and on all of the trim.
- 5/5
Everything was great and close to restaurants. There was nothing I didn't like.
- 3/5
upon arrival for check in later that evening, they did not have the room we reserved; no ,more king sized beds. Took queen.
- 4/5
It was clean, but the sheets had some crumbs on it. The noise from the street cars could be heard quite a bit. The remote control had tape on the back of the remote for the batteries. There was no TV guide and the TV was not working properly.
- 5/5
Large, clean, beautiful rooms. Staff was so very helpful and friendly! Will stay anytime I’m in the area. Really nice accommodations.
- 5/5
Everything was good
- 5/5
Everything was good.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay.
- 5/5
Everything was spectacular!
- 1/5
The room was dirty. There was trash on and around the sofa bed. Nasty.
- 1/5
Should not be operating. The place is red tag for no permits and it is still be worked on without proper permits and it looks like a jobsite in the main entry and hallways exited the elevator
- 5/5
Had a nice mini stay. Basic room but I list say the beds were very comfortable . Enjoyed my stay
- 1/5
they where in a middle of costructions... charging an arm and leg for a dirty ... hole
- 3/5
I think y’all should post if a place is remodeling. It smelled damp. The staff was lovely, though. They were the bright spot.
- 4/5
Check in was nice. The bed was very very comfortable.
- 4/5
For just one night. The receptionist was amazing and super friendly! Not sure I’ll stay here again though.
- 5/5
I was not expecting that the property is being renovated, so no amenities tp speak of, like the fitness room. Its advertised as a non-smoking property, but probably was a smoking property previously as you can still smell the stale smoke in the rooms, also could smell actual smoke in the hallway- so someone WAS smoking there. HOWEVER, the staff I encountered were wonderful & very friendly - kudos to them - they were great!
- 4/5
Hotel was in the middle of a remodel. First floor looked to be recovering/remodeling from a flood? Staff was very nice and helpful. Even with the remodel and limited room, breakfast was good and check in/out was fast and easy.
- 2/5
One of the rooms doors didn’t lock, anyone could just walk in. Room wasn’t very clean, toys were still on the floor from previous customers. Construction in building set off fire alarm, where we discovered one of the rooms alarms weren’t functioning and never went off.
- 5/5
The property is under renovation and could not sit down for breakfast, had to take to my room.
- 4/5
It was nice & clean
- 2/5
I will never stay there again, front desk was great but the room had a bad smell to it, very outdated, looked very run down. You'd think a Holiday Inn would be nicer, not this one! Never again!
- 2/5
They are clearly undergoing much needed renovation. Our carpet was wet under the a/c unit/window, smelled moldy, serious signs of wear and tear.
- 3/5
the staff was outstanding
- 1/5
Will never stay here again. It was deplorable. They didn’t tell us they had a huge leak and water damage to half the hotel. It was draped. The elevator was broke. It smelled horrible and hallways were filthy. Had to use stairs. Carpet in room was sopping wet. It was a bad choice to stay here!
- 5/5
Hotel is under construction but all was quiet until morning. Just surprised.
- 4/5
Rooms were very clean and spacious
- 4/5
Our room was great, clean, spacious and comfy. LOVED IT! Housekeeping service, as they stated, was limited so ask for what you need like fresh towels and amenities. Front desk staff was always friendly.
- 4/5
This Hotel is close to a lot of places to eat and shopping.
- 4/5
The room was very cozy and the bed was very comfortable.
- 2/5
Have stayed here in the past and the hotel has gone down hill. Pool was not open on my last stay and is still down. Toilets don’t flush, poor lighting, shower leaked. Beverages were still frozen for breakfast. Beds and pillows were comfortable and AC was great
- 2/5
phone kept ringing and she was on personal call which i find wrong to do. she could have attended me and put that call on hold. just not happy on this experience.
- 5/5
Nice place to stay
- 5/5
Great stay.
- 2/5
The experience was not a good one. The first room had many problems: the door looked like someone tried to break in, the door stopper on the wall was caved in, the fridge had a strange odor, the remote was missing the back plate, I did not get a complete set of towels. The carpets through out the facility were filthy. The air conditioner was not working in the hallways and many ice machines were not working. And finally the pool was closed.
- 5/5
This a great hotel with great location stay here all the time.
- 2/5
I was told that hotels.com had cancel my room that was my first dissapointment, so someone else cancle there room there room so i was able to get a room, but the bathroom door handle came off when i tried to get in the room and the tv remote control did not have bateries and no bottem to it . This is the first time that i was disappointed in a hotel.
- 1/5
the rooms had a set smell. we inquired about flooding, we were told no. the condensation in the room made the sheets feel wet. i was concerned about bed bugs as o constantly felt like i was being bitten. i would not stay there again, nor would i recommend.
- 3/5
Aside from that, it’s convenient so many restaurants and stores that you will enjoy yourself in Baytown.
