Grand Central Hotel Barcelona is a design hotel offering fantastic views of the Gothic Quarter and Barcelona Cathedral from its rooftop infinity pool. It has stylish rooms and free high-speed WiFi. The elegantly refurbished hotel is housed in an early 20th-century building and it is a clear example of the Catalan Noucentisme. The air-conditioned rooms at the Grand Hotel Barcelona have a modern design. They are equipped with a 4K high-definition TV´s with Chromecast . Each one has a bathroom with a large, rain-effect shower and luxury toiletries. The restaurant offers an authentic Spanish-style dining experience with small "platillos" to be shared, as well as a selection of over 150 local and national wines. An excellent culinary proposal that will make you feel like a local. La Terraza del Central, in the rooftop, is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner, a cocktail or both overlooking the city lights of Barcelona. The hotel has a fitness center and massage services are also offered. Staff at the 24-hour reception can provide information about what to see and do in Barcelona, and you can also hire a car or a bicycle.     Location was nice and close proximity to where we wanted to go and room was clean. Didn't really strike me as 5 star based on others i've stayed in. Breakfast wasn't great and have had better at 3 star hotels.

    Great location, staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel was clean and the food was excellent. Not much storage space for clothes, only one drawer and 5 coat hangers, luckily I was only staying for 4 nights so managed to fit things in.

    This is not a 5* hotel. Excessively expensive for what it offers. 1) Facilities: Underwhelming entrance, lobby area and elevators. Corridors and carpets worn-out and interior design dated. It looks more like a 3-4 star hotel with its glory in the past. 2) Rooms: Small rooms with cheap and unattractive furniture. No fridge in the room. No proper wardrobe. A few hangers on a rail in an open cabinet. No desk. The interior design involves a bare wall with a cheap TV hanged on it. More of a 3* room vibe. The bathroom layout is awkward: the sink is part of the room and the toilet is separated by a glass door from the room. Not sufficient privacy. The windows cannot be opened, so no fresh air for 4 days. On arrival, the room was cold. I asked the reception for help with setting up the heating. They said they would send somebody to the room that evening. Nobody came. Hence, I slept with my jumper on that night. 3) Breakfast: Definitely not 5*. No chef on site and no cooking station. The menu repeated intelf for 4 days. The only fresh vegetables are some cherry tomatoes in a bowl. Very limited choice for vegan people. As I am a vegetarian, I asked for some fresh vegetables cut on a plate. I was told that I needed to pay 10 euros for this. As I paid £400 per day with breakfast included, charging me extra 10 euros for a few vegetables seemed very poor understanding of what a 5* standard should be. 4) Extra charges: I was charged 100 euros per day for a deposit (400 euros in total), in spite of the fact that the Booking.com site mentioned that the total deposit should be 100 euros for the entire stay. In addition with them taking 400 euros deposit at the check-in, they also took £26 euros per day as city tax. Overall a disappointing experience. If you want a 5 stars experience, this is not the place to be.

    The reception and lounge area are beautifully decorated. The Rooftop is stunning. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. The breakfast had plenty of choice all very good.

    Staff were so friendly and helpful with me, an English speaker. My room was cleaned and freshly stocked with coffee every day. Turn down service with chocolate at night was an additional plus. The location turned out to be perfect for the metro and many places I wanted to see. Ate my best dinner in walking distance to the hotel. I was visiting my daughter at the university and that was also convenient. As a solo female traveler, I was so thankful for how generously I was treated. I had a post dinner dessert and wine in the hotel restaurant--same lovely treatment. Would definitely return here.

    This is a first class hotel in a really convenient and interesting part of Barcelona. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and nothing seems too much trouble. The rooms are very well-appointed - a real pleasure to have stayed here. I think the lovely rooftop bar and pool would be better without canned music - there's a magic to hearing the seagulls and the distant noise of the city...
