Reviews
The East Austin Hotel receives mixed reviews, with guests appreciating its prime location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, several guests express dissatisfaction with the shared bathroom situation, noise levels, and hidden fees, such as parking charges.
- Prime location in East Austin, close to restaurants, bars, and downtown
- Clean and modern rooms
- Shared bathrooms for some rooms, which was not always clear during booking
- Noise levels from surrounding bars, clubs, and pool parties
- Hidden fees, such as parking charges
- Inconsistent experiences with room quality and amenities

Great value and ideal location if you want to stay in a hip part of town with tons of nearby bars and restaurants. Not ideal for families but an awesome option if you’re looking for excitement.
- 5/5
We stayed one night before catching an early flight out of Austin. Our friends met us for supper at Poeta and it was outstanding! Best lasagna ever! The hotel is close to bars, so there is some music noise, which is to be expected—not terrible though! Will def stay again when we have an early flight!
- 5/5
Nice staff, clean and modern rooms, plus you get a $10 coupon to use at their restaurant
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and we had a great stay I’ll definitely be coming back
- 3/5
For the most part, the place was adequate. However, the place had a musty smell. Relatives who had stayed there also remarked about the smell so it wasn't just us. It gave us an incentive to not stay in the hotel unless to sleep.
- 4.5/5
Great location. Very nice and updated room.
- 5/5
Second stay at East Austin Hôtel and won’t be my last. Great expérience from top to bottom
- 5/5
I wish parking was included, and not handled by a “third party”
- 5/5
Amazing hotel. Room super clean room. Huge bathroom. The shower was great. Lots of water pressure. The staff was courteous and professional. Will absolutely stay again
- 4/5
However, they had three areas for food and drinks all of which close early in the evening. The pool bar does not have food nor does the Roof rooftop bar which I think is a little surprising. The actual restaurant closes early on weeknights so there is nowhere to get a snack or drink after 8 PM. Other than that it is a nice place!

If you’re looking for a comfy bed, this is the place!!
- 5/5
It’s on great location for night life, delicious food with great staff
- 5/5
Wish check in staff would have explained on the amenities on site. I would have likely spent money at the on site cafe, restaurant or bar.
- 5/5
The room was great, I got a suite. Though my ONE complaint was that the lobby staff didn't explain all the amenities to me. They explained the parking situation, which I greatly appreciated considering that Austin has some obscene parking costs but they failed to mention the on site bars, the on site restaurants and cafe as well as their hours, also failed to mention that you get some credit to use at the restaurant. This was small but it would have been nice to know. Hell, I would have likely spent more money on the property.
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay here. My friend and I stayed here for a girls night and I would absolutely stay here again. I normally travel with my kids, and this probably wouldn't be my top choice for that, but without kids this is a wonderful place to stay.

I had a floor room facing the pool and it was immaculate and felt super private which I appreciated. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Austin.
- 4/5
The breakfast is not included in the rates, however the food and the service at hotel’s bar and restaurant Poeata was exceptional. Also Abigail at the reception was of great help during our stay. It was indeed a comfortable stay at the nice part of town. It would have been better if we had a room with a balcony.

I would’ve given this a 5 star review but during my stay I had encountered WAY too many bugs. Super frustrating for the price I paid I shush they would do something about that.

Always love staying here. The new restaurant and bar were great but definitely working out kinks. The bar upstairs and by the pool are a great bonus when they are actually open

The room was lovely and very conveniently located to the Scoot Inn and several eateries on E 6th. The roof top bar was closed when we visited, but the pool was open and super cute. The cafe onsite was super cute! Food looked good. We had our coffee there. So good! Love that I didn’t have to walk far for espresso after drinking the coffee provided in the room. Would stay again!

Great hotel in a (now) good area of Austin, lovely staff and large rooms all good
- 5/5
The East Austin Hotel was in a very convenient location for downtown, SoCo, and more. A quick Uber ride took us anywhere we wanted to go. The hotel room was very nice, and we had a poolside room with a balcony, and we enjoyed sitting there. The restaurant Poeta at the hotel served us some of the most delicious food we have ever had. You must try the beet salad. We were given a $10.00 off coupon to use at the restaurant each day of our stay. The pool was well maintained, and the pool bar was a nice place to hang out. The staff provide us bottled water upon request and were very helpful with any questions we had. There were food trucks and lots of entertainment locations right around the hotel. If we come back to Austin, this is where we will stay.
- 4/5
Location is good but very busy street. Lots of loud music into the late hours. Was required to put down an additional $150 “damage advance”, that would be refunded. Not sure why they need this but felt it was excessive. Nice that they offer a $10 restaurant credit, except we were there for an event and never had time to use it.
- 3/5
I wouldn’t stay again! Lighting was low. Bar was closed on a Friday night. Restaurant didn’t look good. Bathroom wasn’t clean. There was someone else’s trash in our trash can

Great restaurant. Good location. Adorable property. Would stay again.
- 4/5
The room and hotel stay itself were excellent. My only complaint would be that if you are checking in later towards the evening, there was no way to actually get into the hotel. The main entrance was closed and we had to knock on a side door that required a key card to enter until we were let in.
- 4/5
Staff was very attentive and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was amazing! There is a Keurig machine with little packets and mini fridge in the room. There is a microwave in the lobby of you need! This hotel is near EVERYTHING you need. Please be warned you are in a party area so your neighbors and the sounds below will travel. Just use a white noise machine and you should be good. Would stay again!!

Cute hotel in an awesome location. There are a ton of cool bars and restaurants nearby. Walking distance to downtown as well. The place was very clean and well maintained. Staff was also very friendly. 10/10 would definitely recommend staying here!
- 5/5
Everything was fine, but the most remarkable feature of my stay was the superb dinner for our party of 17, family and old friends. The food was delicious, carefully selected for all kinds of dietary choices, and served family style at a leisurely pace … a perfect event!
- 4/5
Everything was very good!
- 5/5
Cool hotel, poolside double queen was a good size. Small closet. Nice balcony overlooking pool. Poeta restaurant was nice for dinner, and there is a 2nd story bar as well, with no food option.
- 5/5
What a fun, eclectic place. Our room had a turtle foot stool! Great bathrobes, easy temp control, great deck, and loved the bed, too. Location was easy walkable - and great food nearby and in the attached restaurant, too.

- 5/5
The suite was perfect! We enjoyed the pool and breakfast was delicious. Most impressive of all was the wonderful staff. Everyone went out of their way to ensure that we had a great experience at the East Austin Hotel. We look forward to our next visit!!
- 4/5
The hotel was very convenient for our work trip. The front desk staff was very nice and the room comfortable. We were disappointed with housekeeping. There were hairs all over the bathroom when we checked in. Our coffee/tea station was restocked with only decaf coffee and of the two water bottles we're given each day, one had already been opened and partially drank. Lastly the hotel restaurant had changed hands since our last stay and there was no breakfast (or coffee) until 10am.
- 5/5
This hotel is such a gem and in a perfect location to explore the surroundings.
- 5/5
Cutest hotel! Room was quiet and clean. Walking distance to restaurants and nightlife. We will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Loved the funky little neighborhood.
- 5/5
The hotel is amazing, it’s located in such a great location, the rooms were spotless and stocked with great amenities, the beds were extremely comfortable which is a dream, the staff were super friendly and took the time to offer suggestions for places to eat and places to see, I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again if I return to Austin

The room we had (king suite) was amazing. Pool is nice and secluded. Great location on 6th street with lots of fun bars and food around. Staff was amazing and accommodating. Overall would stay here any time in in Austin and was a good mix of relaxing and being in a central location.

Staff were amazing through our stay and very helpful. Restaurant and bars were closed the first day we were there due to a sprinkler malfunction. Restaurant wasn’t much to choose from so we ate off property for meals. All in all not a bad place to stay.
- 5/5
Breakfast sandwiches were good. Bars weren't open when we were there.

Staff and design. Cosy rooms. Good neighborhood with bars and near downtown. Nice bedlinnen and the soap was super nice I wanted to eat it it smelled so nice. A lot of doors but the system does work.

Worst water pressure in the shower I have ever experienced. Stained rugs and poor lighting in the room. I had high hopes.

- 3/5
The hotel is very pretty, staff is super friendly but noise from nearby bars was insane until 3 am and the logistics of barhrooms outside the rooms was interesting.
- 4/5
We really liked East Austin as a home base for our trip. We are active and can walk 15k steps a day on vacation and it was super easy to get to all the key areas of downtown, south congress, and franklins on foot but you didn’t have noise or a lot of traffic. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. Entrance to your room will be through an exterior door. I’m only docking them because we had a cockroach in our room.
- 4/5
Great facilities, but they weren't always open
- 4.5/5
It’s a cool boutique hotel with a seventies inspired vibe, great location and always spotlessly clean Sometimes it can be noisy at the weekend
- 5/5
Hotel was wonderful and in great location. Rooftop bar was nice nightcap. Staff was very nice and friendly.

- 4.5/5
Fun boutique hotel in the middle of a fun community. Lots of shops and eateries/bars/breweries to walk to. Close to downtown which was an easy and cheap uber ride. Loved all the personal touches (real plant in the room). Felt like home.
- 5/5
Nice room with a modern vibe. Good location for hitting 6th street bars and clubs.
- 5/5
Loved this area, so many different things to do within walking or scooter distance. I didn’t have enough time to make it to the pool but it was all so beautiful and cozy.
- 4/5
The water in the shower had inconsistent heat but it wasn’t too bad.
- 3/5
Overnight stay. Walkable to shops and restaurants, which was convenient.
- 5/5
It was walkable to many food vendors and nightlife.
- 3.5/5
The shower power wasn’t great compared to other places we have stayed
- 5/5
Staff was helpful and stored my bag when I showed up way early for check-in. Even handled the local power outage with professionalism and patience. Room and bed were nice. Water pressure could have been better, but it was functional.
- 5/5
Location is amazing, sourrounded by nice restaurants
- 5/5
Great atmosphere, cool bar on the roof. Great views of downtown
- 5/5
This is a great place to stay - full of charm, great location (Whole Foods and Target down the street for any forgotten items), friendly staff and nice little touches like the robes and lotion. Would most definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
Our room was very dark however, even during the day we needed lights on and the lights were not sufficient at night.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 2/5
It was dirty and felt unsafe
- 5/5
Clean, safe, and close to everything! Would stay again for sure.
- 2/5
No hot water in my room. Was forced to switch rooms late at night. Bedspread is extremely thin, bed is very very hard. The "robes" provided are the thinnest fabric I have ever seen and don't feel like luxury at all. The location was great, and the room was clean, but I did not walk away thinking positive things.
- 5/5
The lotion was out they didnt fill the shampoo and conditioner bottles. Also the balcony could have been on the second floor but they gave us the bottom floor. Also deposit was kind of high 150 for incidental.
- 4.5/5
The breakfast was amazing. The restaurant connected to hotel is called Poeta food was amazing. It was a lot fancier than I was expecting and felt a little under dressed showing up in sweatpants and a bun with no makeup. But so glad I went I had the brunch menu. Poached eggs with hash brown and arugula and prosciutto and hollandaise sauce. Delish! The restaurant is actually a Michelin guide recognized restaurant- I had no idea. The front desk was very nice and accommodating. The upstairs bar was cool pool looked nice wish it was warmer and the downstairs pool bar was open but it is February. My room smelt a little mildewy but either smell faded or I just adjusted and didn't smell it after a few hours. Parking Garage - parking is 34.00 a day extra and you kind of have to do it because there isn't much option around there. Bathroom sink was dirty upon arrival but no biggie.
- 4/5
Cool spot in the middle of the action. Clean rooms. Decent pool.
- 5/5
Very clean room, easy check in and parking.
- 5/5
Room was amazing…the decor was cool and the staff was great. We will definitely be back
- 4/5
Such a cute hotel. My only complaint, the complimentary vouchers for the restaurant. It wasn’t open any time we went. Also I know it was probably off season, but the second floor bar and pool bar were both closed the entire time, although they were mentioned
- 4.5/5
This hotel location is perfect to explore East Austin. The supermarket and lots of restaurants are in walking distance. Great value for money, the room was large and very comfortable. It was pretty quiet and being on the top floor meant I had great views which I particularly enjoyed. The staff were great as well, very accommodating. I would stay here again.
- 4/5
This hotel is super cute and convenient. We were disappointed that the rooftop bar was not open.
- 3/5
The hotel was fine - not as nice as the photos and could’ve used a deeper clean, but for what we paid and the convenience of the location, we were fine with the tradeoffs. We actually slept very well on the mattress. I could see this being a good place in your 20s for SXSW. Not as nice if you’re in your 30s/40s on a romantic getaway, but it worked.
- 4.5/5
Affordable and nice-looking. The location is excellent. It was a bit noisy at night because there was a party in the hotel.
- 3.5/5
Facilities more worn down than expected from the photos, felt quite "budget". The king room we had didn't have full separation between the shower and the bedroom (wall doesn't go all the way up). The hot water in the shower was on and off. Had to ask for hand soap for the room. Quite dark in the room with all lights on.
- 5/5
Good price!
- 2/5
Walls are way too thin. Was up all hours of the night and morning due to noise coming from next door and outside.
- 5/5
Everything was great besides alot of the stuff was closed like the place for breakfast and pool. There was a very loud alarm going off the entire time outside but you couldn’t hear it in the room.
- 3.5/5
Everything was neat and tidy. Pool was clean. Everything was alright. Very acceptable. Nothing luxurious or mind blowing but definitely not bottom of the barrel. We enjoyed our stay. The security with all the locked doors made me happy since there is A LOT of transient traffic around. I didn’t like that it wasn’t clear the bathrooms were communal but we upgraded for $20. I also didn’t like that parking was extra/separate. I think more hotels should offer a bundle package. Room with bathroom and parking for one price. It seems like I’m being nickel and dimed for an experience I already want to pay for. If I got an upfront price and knew I didn’t have to worry about anything it would make traveling so much better.
- 4.5/5
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, especially considering our flights were delayed and our arrival was quite late at night. The rooms had beautiful decor and were very functional for a family of four. Beds were some of the most comfortable we've ever experienced in a hotel.
- 5/5
Perfect location
- 5/5
Definitely a different hotel from standard downtown. Fits Austin well! Oriented to outside living (bar, pool, restaurant, etc.) so not so great in January when we visited, but likely good other times of the year. Right in the middle of restaurant and other activities which have now spread to the east of IH35. (They were only to the west of IH35 when we knew Austin back when!)

- 4/5
Great and accommodating staff. Cute ambiance and very photogenic atmosphere. Pool was too cold and needed cleaning. Did not see any maintenance done with it during our entire stay. Sun only reaches a small portion of the pool area for less than 3 hours in the afternoon. Not sure if there was clear communication between the restaurant and the hotel but we were unaware of the transition from the old restaurant to the new and weren’t told about the limited menu and hours by the front desk when checking in. We saved an entire meal to try out the restaurant only to find out that it was nothing like what we saw online. We had to pivot our plans quickly last minute.
- 4.5/5
Location was great. Dorm style bathrooms were interesting. The robes are legit. Taking my bags up a flight of stairs absolutely sucked. We were absolutely punished for arriving early, since those were the first rooms cleaned. I would’ve given this stay a perfect rating, except that section is not disability friendly — and I have a disability that’s not even necessarily visible. I know I should advocate for myself in these situations, but it was hot and walking back dow to ask for a different room after shuffling all of our bags that far was already draining.
- 5/5
Very clean Parking
- 5/5
This hotel is a well-kept secret, a true delight and well-priced. The staff was helpful and friendly and the room was decorated very much like in Dwell Magazine. Nice thick towels, modern bathroom and comfy bed. Each Christmas when I visit my brother's family in Austin I try different hotels. This was the best in the past 7 years!I'm on a budget and was surprised by how nice East Austin Hotel was for the money. It's unassuming from the street but once inside the view down from the rooms to the pool is lovely. They're working on bringing their rooftop bar back into service. Once they do, it looks like an amazing place to hang out with a grand view of Austin.
- 3/5
The room was fine. My only issue was that the walls are not fully insulated for whenever there was music playing at the pool outside, it boomed through the walls of my room.
- 3.5/5
I like the location, staff and restaurant. The shower water pressure was very low.
- 3/5
We liked all the hotel except the bedroom. Neither the bedroom’s floor nor the bathtub was too clean, and the smell was too strong.

The location is great if you like the Austin night vibes. Super helpful and nice staff. The room I stayed in was super clean and comfortable. The bathroom and showers are outside of the bedroom (for the setup I booked; they offer rooms w/ bathrooms inside) but they're very clean and private. N/A
- 5/5
I had a great stay here the room was perfect
- 5/5
To start the staff at the front desk were both exceptional. Knowledgeable and kind. Great start to our trip. The facility was clean and in order. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Clean, spacious room. Quiet property.
- 5/5
We absolutely love this budget friendly option for our travels! The room was so cute, bed so comfortable! We didn’t mind the shared bathroom aspect as this setup was similar to a dorm and we loved the $$ savings. The housekeeping staff cleaned the bathrooms several times a day. For future visits I would not want a room on the street side of the building as Friday and Saturday night was so loud I couldn’t sleep during the hours of 9pm - 2am. Other than that, we would gladly stay here again!
- 3/5
The room as acceptable, and staff were courteous. The biggest issue was a noisy guest who was on her phone in the corridor at 3am.
- 4/5
Room has a strong smell of deodorant disinfectant. Probably spraying the mattress. I’ve stayed here multiple times due to the location and cost. I really wish they would dial back whatever the smell is !
- 5/5
Staff members were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean, hotel was quiet and there’s a restaurant and bar on site for convenience. Location was close to a lot of restaurants and shopping so very convenient.
- 5/5
This place was incredible! The staff were extra friendly and helpful. We ate at the Second Kitchen restaurant our first night and loved the food so much we ended up canceling our breakfast reservation at another favorite brunch spot the next day so we could eat there another time. If you’re into quaint bohemian style boutique hotels, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!

Staff and hotel were great. We were able to walk to lots of places close by and enjoy our visit. The drinks at the bar were excellent and the lemon bars were fabulous.

The hotel restaurant was really nice. I loved the view also.
- 4/5
The staff was nice and helpful. The room was cute and quaint. It was such a vibe
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff, convenient to our event
- 1/5
Expensive paid parking thats shared in the fine print and then youre told, "its in the details you just overlooked it" also, an extra $150 chqtge on your card for incidentals, and just in case you didnt read everything, this is the smallest of small rooms and doesnt have a private toilet or shower or even a sink. Upside, its clean, 2nd floor bar is nice and unique, staff is friendly and a good atmosphere. Just pissed about the surprise conditions and parking fee
- 4/5
Yes
- 4/5
Great little place really. Didn’t know I had to share bathrooms but for one night after a show this was perfect
- 5/5
It was a really delightful discovery - the restaurants were lovely ,and was the staff- truly a really nice experience
- 5/5
Beautiful modern hotel. Walking distance to a bunch of places. Nice parking garage, kinda spendy for a night, but maybe that’s typical for the area. I stayed in the wing with shared bathrooms and it was $100 cheaper than a regular room. And I didn’t see one other person the whole time. The bathrooms were clean, nice sinks, shower and toilets. Locking doors of course. I did not miss having a personal bathroom at all. Highly recommend!
- 1/5
The room was dirty, didn’t come with hand soap, no one answers the phones at the front desk, it’s super noisy when their day party is going on during weekends and you can’t move rooms. I also received a $20 voucher credit to use at 2nd kitchen only to be told once I went there that I actually couldn’t use it. Spent $40 on a kale Cesar salad with chicken and a coffee and it was inedible with raw chicken. I will never stay here again
- 5/5
Fun vibe
- 5/5
Great across the board. The room, the staff etc. definitely will be back
- 5/5
A/c was cold
- 5/5
Great location
- 1/5
This property feels more like a hostel than a hotel. The rooms are extremely small, and the bathrooms are shared. The overall atmosphere and cleanliness also resemble that of a hostel. I’m giving it two stars primarily for its convenient location on 6th Street, within walking distance of several bars and nightlife options.
- 5/5
Nice people
- 4/5
Nice location, but rooms need an update/facelift. They feel very used, and can use some TLC.

We had a great stay! Great location, the room is a great size and very clean. We will stay her again.
- 5/5
Love it everything about it here I will be staying here again

I've got to say the hotel was a little bit more hipsterish, ultra young and cool than I was expecting. I accidentally walked down the wrong hallway, and I saw several "cabins" that all shared the same all gender restroom. It was expensive for what it was, but the location was great and it was serviceable.
- 2/5
Just an overall loud environment. Felt bait and switched with room reservation; they said the room I reserved was with a private shared bathroom which I never would’ve reserved. Was made to pay an additional $60 a night for the room with non shared private bathroom.
- 5/5
Thank you East Austin Hotel for an amazing experience, everything went great! This is now my third time staying here! Even my friend who was her first time staying really loved it she said she will come back too! Until next time!
- 5/5
The rooms in the dim light were such a vibe
- 5/5
Please have signs to put at the door to opt out of housekeeping services so they don’t have to knock and call out to you.
- 5/5
Great hotel right on a good part of 6th Street downtown.
- 4/5
The Cleaning staff were great - It was super clean and the pillows were nice and firm. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities were clean, modern and cool. It was a very trendy vibe.
- 1/5
The breakfast is a la carte. Staff is nice. But the hotel design is like prison. Shared bathroom, no parking… Never come back
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
The hotel has very south Florida Caribbean vibes, it’s not like a regular hotel. The decor was lovely and I felt comfortable. Plus they give a $20 credit per room which totally covered my breakfast at the restaurant attached. Great food and friendly service! They even let me hang by the pool for a bit after check out since I didn’t need to leave for the airport until 2P. Going to make this a new tradition to get some rest and sunshine before moving along, was so happy with East Austin Hotel!! Oh, I guess the neighborhood is known to be kind of rough… but I didn’t experience any of that. I walked two blocks to a Korean barbecue place for dinner and everything was very charming and clean.
- 1/5
Do not stay at this hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel, it is pretty confusing finding your room, also read closely if you book a shared bathroom, so as not to be surprised when you arrive.
- 4/5
walkable and close to most of east austin. Staff was lovely
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay but wish the room had better lighting and washcloths for the bathrooms. Also would have liked for the restaurant to open earlier for breakfast.
- 4/5
The hotel is clean, comfortable and located close to East Austin's many restaurants, bars and nightlife options. The downside is that there is quite a bit of street noise and nearby music late into the night (good thing I had earplugs). The staff members were competent, but not overly friendly or accommodating. The hotel definitely tries to present itself as a hipster hangout, though perhaps there is a bit more style than substance. However, I might stay here again if the price was right.

Didn’t find
- 5/5
Hhh
- 5/5
Lobby staff were professional and friendly. The room was excellent.
- 4/5
This place is a delight! Fantastic and friendly staff, super convenient layout + location, awesome pool, comfy, clean, laidback... I wanna give this spot a 10/10, however the water pressure in the shower was so weak it was borderline unusable, haha.
- 4/5
very good
- 1/5
More like a dorm or really expensive Hostel. We left after seeing the room and filthy shared bathrooms.
- 3/5
The room kinda smelled weird, of mildew or something.
- 5/5
Whenever it says parking is available that mean that you will most likely have to pay for parking, options were to park on street or pay for parking on their lot which was 30.00 a night. I booked the room I had no idea that the room i booked did not have a restroom.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly and accommodating staff, a comfortable room at good price.
- 5/5
Clean and in an amazing location. Would highly recommend
- 5/5
Great food options
- 4/5
An amazing spot! So cute, great location. Super accommodating staff. Great pool and bar. Only bad thing is insulation can hear anyone above you as well as the squeaky wheels of all the carts and the very loud elevator. Recommend top floor. But would def stay again.

Yes
- 1/5
I travel for a living, won't suggeat this experience. Plus they steal your money.
- 5/5
I liked it ,but made a mistake while booking and didn't realize in parentheses that a cabin room doesn't have a bathroom in the room, but separate shared bathrooms along the hall. They were clean and nice but in the middle of the night if you need to go it's kinda of a pain to have to get dressed just to go to the bathroom. But that was my over look but if you need a room and don't mind it or at least are aware of it lol it's a great room and hotel especially for the price.
- 5/5
So cute and funky! Great food and easy check in!
- 4/5
Nice
- 5/5
The amenities were great! The staff were helpful, polite and provided great service.
- 5/5
The property is in an excellent location and offers clean, updated rooms. We loved lounging by the pool and popping into the attached restaurant for coffee or snacks. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were quiet after 10:00PM even though we were on 6th street.
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, no issues. Parking was more affordable than most overnight places in the area and my vehicle felt safe. Restaurant on site was good and lots of restaurants/bars within walking distance. Would stay again
- 5/5
Had a great time during my stay here! My cabin room was clean and the shared restroom area was unique and we'll maintained. Becca and Shannon at the connected Second Bar & Restaurant were an absolute joy.
- 5/5
Excellent.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, clean rooms and close to entertainment.
- 5/5
Modern and conveniently located
- 5/5
Very small place but everthing was great. Offers some great food and a fun little night life. Would highly recommend.
- 1/5
So many extra fees and you have to share restroom
- 5/5
Fun property
- 1/5
To be truly transparent the value of the stay it’s not worth the nightly rate. Compare to competitors in the area it’s the worst I’ve experienced. I will not be returning.
- 5/5
Super accommodating, pet friendly, and great location. Friendly staff and clean amenities.
- 5/5
Close to where I need to be
- 5/5
Room had a mildew smell but was very clean! Only complaint, every thing else was great
- 1/5
they charged me more than it said on the invoice they sent me tried reaching out to them and they said i was charged what it was supposed to be
- 5/5
Was really grateful to scoop up a night here after other plans fell through and spend the day working by the pool.
- 5/5
i live about 30 miles north but stay in this hotel when i visit for a show. this place is stupid crazy close to (dirty) 6th st. i like this hotel because it is constantly perfect, affordable, and just a splash of retro. safe parking underneath. great pool and i enjoy waking up to have coffee on the patio. on a side note, i inadvertently booked a "cabin" room one time. it was super cheap, but i missed the small print. smaller room, but you utilize an english style community bathroom. keep that in mind if you are on a budget. likely wouldn't do it again, but it was an experience. oh.....make sure you eat brunch at the restaurant thats attached. great food, service, price and selection. i will be back.
- 4/5
Poor was nice and fun dj Bar restaurant service was good
- 5/5
Nice and peaceful loved my stay
- 4/5
Super comfy bed so a great night’s sleep! Very Austin-y…almost feels like a converted dorm? Some of the bedrooms don’t have their own bathrooms, our room did but definitely felt like a college kid again. Super loud pool party for a few hours downstairs, which was not a problem. Parking was $34/night on site and gated, so it was a good value for downtown Austin.
- 5/5
Cool Austin vibe right off 6th st. Retro sexy room decor with cool 2nd story bar. Will definitely book again.
- 3/5
It was a cute hotel and affordable. The neighborhood was fun, lots to do. I wish it was a little more attention to detail would have given it another star.
- 5/5
Rooms were nice! Staff was exceptional. I can’t wait to stay again.
- 5/5
Great location, close to lots of restaurants and nightlife.
- 5/5
Great property.
- 4/5
Remodeled older property in good location with good price. Garage a bit tricky to find. We slept well here
- 5/5
East Austin Hotel has won my loyalty as my to go spot in Austin. The staff is truly hospitable, and amazing. Rooms never fail to be clean. Area is easy to navigate. Foodie destinations are sublime. I didn't recommend renting one of those e-bikes (they're expensive). . . which has nothing to do with the hotel.
- 4/5
Location
- 1/5
Hotel had a water pipe break and was told I would not be guaranteed a normal check in time. Tried ti cancel with expedia. They called to confirm the conversation with the hotel. Hotel front desk associate lied to expedia said my room would be ready at 2:00. When I arrived at 2:15 I was told my room was not ready and wouldn’t be ready. I was given a lower class room even though I paid for the higher priced room. Hotel associate would not lower the rate. Terrible service and all the restaurants were. Closed due to the water pipe breaking. Hotel didn’t offer anything for the inconvenience. Don’t recommend.
- 5/5
Very unique
- 1/5
In general hotel is in a great location. Fair price. Hands down biggest complaint is parking is $35 and a manual process to get in. You press a button and call the front desk. But if no one is there or they are busy, you can’t get in. I had to wait and wait and wait and eventually didn’t end up using the garage at one point in the stay.
- 1/5
No water for coffee and then no water to flush toilet in the morning .
- 5/5
Great place in a perfect location. We stayed on a Wednesday night so it wasn’t very busy. We shared the pool with only a few people and were warmly welcomed. The under ground parking was perfect to park off the street and the elevator went right to our floor. We had a poolside view which was nice later in the evening enjoying the outdoors.
- 4/5
The guys at the reception desk were helpful and assured us that the facility was secure and told us that we could park in the gated underground parking garage. The room was nice & clean, but needed a little maintenance. (Broken baseboard tile y the shower, pockets/sliding doors that were difficult to operate & a VERY slow draining vanity sink). One of the electrical outlets next to the bed had a device “prong” broken off inside it, rendering it useless. The electrical outlet by the TV was so loose that it wouldn’t hold a phone charging block in the socket (I had to butt a suitcase up against them) When we entered the room the AC was set @ 68 degrees and the fan set to HIGH. This combination led to the room being ultra humid. (Even the carpet felt moist) I set the thermostat to the DRY setting, which helped dehumidify the room after a couple of hours. My hearing is bad, requiring hearing aids. Without my hearing aids, I heard lots of traffic noise during the night (car’s reving their engines & screeching tires), as well as a trash truck around 4:00 AM. I had to be at St. David’s Hospital @ 6:00 this morning. It would’ve been nice to have had a better nights sleep. When I was able to sleep, both the bed & pillows were very comfortable
- 4/5
Cute pool with a bar that was opened part of our trip. Location in East Austin is walkable to bars and restaurants. Hotel has a cute diner / restaurant and a 2nd floor bar that is a nice spot to watch a sunset. Dog-friendly boutique in an apartment-style building with exterior entrances. Green space for dogs is hard to come by in the area.
- 5/5
$30 parking was not it
- 5/5
It was a great experience. There were bands by the pool and other customers at hotel were nice as well.
- 5/5
Great property and great sevice
- 5/5
Quaint, cute, clean, and quiet! Great customer service, super super clean, great location.
- 5/5
I keep telling people about this cool hotel that is run by friendly, hip staff. Walking distance to 6th Street where the bars are

Great vibe and good location. Very comfortable.
- 5/5
Pleasant stay. Enjoyed the neighborhood
- 1/5
Not the greatest to over price
- 5/5
Just an absolutely delight to stay here. Comfortable beds, great shower products, tasty restaurants and friendly welcome. Love the mid century vibe too.
- 5/5
Awesome location, great amenities and overall wonderful experience. Rooms were comfortable and clean, appointed nicely and adequately. Facilities were modern and bar was great.
- 5/5
Love everything about my stay!
- 5/5
The hotel location and east 6th street ended up being our favorite neighborhood in Austin for eating, drinking, and exploring. Could find everything from dive bar to high end, breweries, and food trucks that felt local. The people working front desk, bar, and breakfast were all friendly and so helpful. It's a very laid back hotel, but with great service and ambience. Ended up being a super fun and so needed vacation. Definitely recommend!
- 5/5
Had a great stay, will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Austin
- 4/5
The room looked great and the service was very good. Since we were staying for 4 nights we could have used more storage and more towels. This location is close to so many restaurants and clubs. You won’t be disappointed.
- 5/5
nice pool
- 3/5
Room clean but cramped. Loud music played all afternoon and night. Food above average but service inexperienced.
- 5/5
Loved the vibe of the onsite restaurant upstairs.
- 5/5
Fast checkin, no parking problems as hotel has underground parking. Room was comfortable and having a terrace was great
- 4/5
Great locations, cute hotel with a good pool area. Front desk staff were phenomenal and the bar staff in the adjacent bar top notch. Only loses marks because we continued to not receive refills on coffee and water each day when our room was serviced.
- 3/5
Amazing location. I did not like the idea of shared bathrooms. I had understood it was a private bathroom, just outside the room. It turned out to be shared bathrooms for several rooms
- 5/5
Really great hospitality. Clean, great location, dining , and staff. No complaints here. Thank you!
- 4/5
Visiting earlier in the week, the restaurant was dead and kinda low-staffed. Otherwise, the pool and rooms were nice. The hotel is close to the highway and easy to get to other areas of Austin.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel; lots of restaurants and bars near by.
- 5/5
One of our favorite hotels in Austin!
- 5/5
Great location near a lot great places
- 5/5
Cute and roomy property! Super retro
- 4/5
Lots of music/ bars / restaurants nearby
- 5/5
From check-in to departure, the staff were attentive, courteous, and genuinely warm — a reflection of Austin hospitality at its best. The rooms are impeccably clean, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully appointed with comfortable beds, local art, and curated amenities that elevate the guest experience without feeling excessive. The on-site restaurant and rooftop bar are standouts, offering a diverse menu and well-crafted cocktails in a relaxed yet refined setting. Whether for business or leisure, the common areas — including the pool deck and lounges — provide ample space to unwind or connect. What makes East Austin Hotel particularly unique is its authentic integration with the local community. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s an experience that reflects the creative energy and cultural richness of Austin. Highly recommended for travelers seeking style, comfort, and a genuine sense of place.
- 5/5
Very convenient and great value
- 4/5
A good spot with some fun details. Great location. Front desk was nice and helpful. Room was a bit small but comfortable. $35 for parking is obnoxious. The restaurant also charged 22% “gratuity” (hint, that’s not a gratuity) with the resulting mediocre service.
- 4/5
..
- 4/5
This is a really charming and comfortable hotel in an awesome location. Only issue is that I felt the bathroom floor and shower weren’t very clean.
- 5/5
I liked the area and everything was in walking distance
- 4/5
Buried beneath the foundation of this hotel are the ruins of the original Cheer-Up Charlie's and Mrs. Bea's. This is the new East 6th: sterile and bland. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. At least, there's a Target and a Whole Foods.
- 1/5
It was motel quality at a normal hotel level price. At least a motel 6 gives you your own bathroom. They do a great job dressing up a turd with their pictures. Please do not book here
- 5/5
We had a great time! I will choose to stay here next time I come back!
- 5/5
Very clean quiet early that’s good!
- 4/5
The location was convenient, however, street parking is a challenge and garage parking is expensive ($31/24hrs). I inadvertently booked a "cabin" which does not have a private restroom-once I got over the shock I adapted and the private bathroom was next door, so the treck was not far. The experience reminded me of European hotels years ago. Regardless, the single toilet/shower rooms were very spacious & clean. Just make sure to remember your room key. The best part of the "cabin" was the price-very affordable given the location and it being Austin.
- 3/5
It was okay for a night. If you're single or young its a great place.
- 5/5
Property as advertised. Solid location, can walk to a lot or uber for cheap. Clean facilities and easy, safe parking.
- 5/5
Overall it was a nice stay. Clean and well taken care of. Housekeeping was credibly helpful and friendly. Check-in with one reception was not the greatest. They didn’t seem happy to be there and they weren’t too friendly. Rest have been good and helpful.
- 3/5
I had no idea that there was not a private bathroom as is normal , it was European style , or like in hostiles…so you have to leave your room to go to the restroom or to shower. I absolutely hated it. For the prices especially it’s dumb.
- 4/5
Really pretty cool hotel in the middle of everything. Literally surrounded by bars, restaurants, etc. That being said, bring ear plugs. It was pretty noisy until midnight. When we stayed recently a wedding party had booked most of the hotel, and both the rooftop and pool bar were only open to wedding guests which I think was a bit much. Would have been nice to know this as the pool and rooftop bar were big selling points of the property. The room itself was super nice and clean and the bed was so comfortable. We stayed in the area with shared bathrooms. One toilet wouldn't flush properly. But the bathrooms were nice and they did a good job of keeping them clean. One guest had showered before us and left a bunch of hair in the drain, I think that's a reflection on the guest not the hotel - have respect and clean up after yourself in shared bathrooms! Loved the decor and the lobby was so cute.
- 5/5
Cutest little hotel close to 6th Street!
- 3/5
This hotel was just ok. Make sure you understand that you have to share bathrooms with everyone on the floor. The bathrooms were not that clean. I think if they are going to have shared restrooms, they need to be much better about keeping them clean and rethinking the wet floor situation. The rooms were nice but I don't think it was worth the price I paid for the room.
- 5/5
Outrageous price for parking
