Komaneka at Monkey Forest

Amazing facilities - lush and green. Villa next to a forest with monkeys on vines. Own small swimming pool and gazebo next to it. Awesome staff; they all got to know our names and our activities for the day; they would greet us by name at the spa and at the restaurant (where the morning breakfast was excellent and the service very attentive and caring) and ask how much we enjoyed our activities the previous day. Their driver who took us to the airport waited until we got our boarding passes from the desk before waving to us and leaving The traffic outside (both vehicles and foot traffic) was heavy, and the drive anywhere took very long as a result.

Great location, everyone there was exceptional, knew our names, our favorite food, place was clean spacious, I have no complaints

Lovely facility, beautiful lush setting, gorgeous outdoor lobby. From the moment we stepped in, the staff were perfect. They welcomed us warmly, went out of the way to make us comfortable, and every staff member addressed us using our names. We felt like we got personal, special attention - the royal treatment. We upgraded to a villa with its own pool, looking out on a forest with hanging vines, monkeys, and all kinds of birds. Simply loved everything about our stay, including the Balinese spa day. Highly recommend it. They arranged 2 different tours with a private AC car and personal attention from the driver. The location in Ubud is perfect - can walk to multiple attractions and cafes and high-end restaurants. When we left, multiple staff members came out to wish us goodbye and waited to wave to us as our car drove out. Really nothing about the property was bad. But traffic to any place was horrid.

The most outstanding thing was the contrast of the quiet, beautiful property to the chaotic environment of the streets outside the compound. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the yoga class and the wonderful Balinese massages at the spa. The infinity pool was an oasis of tranquility -- the perfect way to cool off after a busy day of sightseeing. Our room was large and beautifully appointed. The semi-outdoor bathtub was an unexpected treat. The room was cleaned promptly and perfectly each day (except when we mistakenly left the do-not-disturb light on, and then, after normal hours, a crew came to clean it for us). The only disappointment was the lack of vegetarian options at breakfast. We ate fruit, yogurt and slices of bread (no cereal offered) each morning, while non-vegetarians dined on individually prepared gourmet meals. It felt like we were subsidizing those meals, sort of like paying for an open bar when you don't even drink alcohol. Oh well... Everything else at Komaneka at Monkey Forest was great.

There was some construction next to us, though it wasn't too bad. A small thing to note is that they don't have 24 hrs room service, but that was only a small inconvenience and can be managed

This is a great spot and a quiet sanctuary in crowded and noises Ubud. Breakfast was decent and dinner really good. The staff were the real highlight here, so genuinely friendly and efficient. The pool is small but nice and the grounds are lovely. My only knock is that rooms advertised as facing a rice terrace are misleading- it’s just a backyard with rice facing other buildings outside the property- not true nature. Happy to recommend and would certainly return!

Beautiful kind and thoughtful staff. Exquisite gardens, pool and surroundings. The food was absolutely delicious and better than much of what we’ve ever had in NZ. Smack bang in the beating heart of Ubud! Exceptional in every single way!

I’ve stayed at this location a number of times when I’ve gone to Ubud and it’s still a wonderful retreat. Nothing - location is perfect for walking most of the central part of Ubud. The grounds are lush and beautiful, and the staff is wonderful!

Komaneka was wonderful! The grounds and infinity pool were beautiful - like staying in peaceful tropical botanic gardens. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant was lovely, including the complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea. The room was excellent - beautiful, with all the facilities you'd need (e.g. chairs & table on my balcony to read outside, a lovely couch area to read inside if it was raining/too hot outside, a magnificent four-poster bed, huge bathroom with bath and large shower.) I loved the complimentary yoga class each morning at 9am, in an open-air space overlooking rice paddies. The location was great too - easy to walk to nearby attractions/shopping. I didn't want to leave! : ) Nil

The room was beautiful. The staff was exceptional. nothing

The food was tasty and well made. The menu selection is not that extensive but quite adequate. The staff is super helpful and provides excellent service. Overall there really isn’t much to complain about. Apart from enjoying the comfort of the villa and swimming pool, there isn’t much in the resort and perhaps they could look at adding a couple of activities such as a Table Tennis table to provide a few more options for entertainment within the resort.

Exceptional

The staff is amazing. They welcome you with a bug smile and a welcome drink. Komaneka's rooms are big, lightning, and specially clean. Housekipping does a great job cleaning the room twice a day. Guest service also amazing. The setting of the hotel is the best in Ubud, near by Ubud Palace, Art Market and Monkey Forest, so you can go everywhere walking. The street is full of souvenirs, cafes, restaurants and money changing. To sum up, our stay was amazing and we loved everything. Spa treatments are a little bit expensive comparing it with others spa on the area. Avarage Komaneka's price is 400.000 IDR ($24) and street spa is 170.000 IDR ($10). Apart from this, the rest was amazing.

Nothing we didn’t like

The hotel location is excellent right downtown Ubud. No noise from street. Staffs are the best, all very efficient, sincerely caring and helpful. The food is excellent we ordered room service and was delicious. None
