A special hotel, a special location and a special city

The staff, the ability to txt front desk and have every question answered instantly and professionally, my room was gorgeous! Staff were extremely welcoming! They pay close attention to detail. 10/10 would book again.

Everything! The staff is so amazingly helpful before and during the trip!! Hotel room was large, clean and comfortable with great views. The breakfast was great, and staff there was terrific as well. I highly recommend!! Nothing!
-
The location is amazing! right in the heart of Matera with beautiful views. The breakfast area is wonderful with a lovely atmosphere. There was some mold in the shower, and the shower itself was small and not very new.

Romantic stay at a cave suite, large room, beautiful decoration, large bath with all amenities. Great location close to all attractions in historic Matera. Very good breakfast and restaurant. No complaints

This was our first time to Matera and it was amazing! The hotel is located near the iconic rock church Santa Maria di Idris. Our room had a patio with views of that church. The hotel is also located a short walk from the entrance to the hike to Belvedere Murgia Timone - a must do for those who can handle a one hour hike (one way). There were also a number of excellent restaurants nearby. We were not sure what to expect in a cave room but thoroughly enjoyed it. The room had a luxurious bath, a lounger with TV, and a four poster bed set on a stone base. It should be noted that the only natural light is at the entrance to the room. Caterina at reception helped to make our stay very enjoyable. She provided a number of recommendations on what to see and do in Matera. And she provided a list of recommended restaurants outside - but near - the hotel.

Great staff, convenient location, unique cave room, great breakfast, great parking and shuttle service. No turn down service, poorly lighted rooms, ZERO English speaking TV for three days, the ancient city can be easily seen in two busy days, three days were one too many. We spent one day at Alberobello instead

Il Pellicano is an elite resort that commands an elite price tag. If you are looking for a 5-Star resort that caters to your every need - book this hotel. The room and balcony view were spectacular. The beach club is perfect and the food and drinks are impeccable. Loved this resort. Was very expensive and once you reach the property, you're pretty much there for the duration as venturing to the port city is a 20-25 minute, windy road around the coast of the island. The wasps were very irritating while trying to enjoy meals at breakfast and lunch.

The staff, including the Shuttle Driver, BellMen, and restaurant people were all Excellent. Everyone always did their most to please all guests. The location is central, perhaps among the best in Matera, and the views from our room were magnificent. The hotel breakfast ambience and the food is a 10. We liked everything about the property, but perhaps my expectations for a Cave Suite were too high. Yes, the Cave Suite is the best it could possibly be, but know the lighting is a bit dim and the air conditioning is a bit musty. Nevertheless, it’s still a treat to stay in the Cave Suite. I told all my friends we stayed in it and everyone shared our excitement.

It was truly unique with a spectacular view & perfect location!

The room was wonderful, the design, the spaces, comfortability, all. The location of the hotel is super central, and you are close to plenty of restaurants. Breakfast was outstanding, all the food was fresh, and the service was amazing. The wifi in the room was not working half of the time.

Great location in the heart of the Sassi. Very welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Caterina helped us with parking and other questions we had before arriving and greeted us so kindly when we arrived. She’s a gem and a real asset to the hotel! No complaints at all!

First of all, we arrived to the hotel to check in. One of our rooms had no ac working. We did anything we could to change rooms but they said they had no available rooms and they put a portable fan in my room. Obviously it was so hot more than 30 degrees in the morning and we woke up at 6 AM because of the heat. On top, my girlfriend fell on the stairs and they because they are very slippery and they didn’t even have a first aid medical kit. Last but not least, the luggage person at our arrival was so kind and careful with the luggage but it is still a very hard job to do because of the long and steep stairs. During our departure, the luggage person was throwing our luggage and breaking the wheels and he even broke a luggage of ours. It is really not acceatable, not being able to sleep in a room because of the heat and breaking customers luggage. All they said at the reception was sorry which didn’t even make up for 1% of what we went through.

The hotel was in a great location. The staff was excellent. The cave room was really cool and spacious. The breakfast was wonderful. We traveled in mid-May, the only issue we had was that the cave room was warm and the hotel has not turned the air conditioning on. This made the room humid and difficult to sleep. We like a cool room when sleeping. The hotel did offer a fan.
