It was very authentic and we felt like we were living in ancient times ! A lot of steps to get up there .

Spacious room. Very nice and helpful Reception Staff (Benny). Nothing

The Hotel is located in the middle of the Sassi district in Matera. Our room was an actual cave that was once inhabited over the past 9000yrs.The breakfast was in the room with well stocked items every day. Luigi and Bennie were great. The whole area just had an incredible energy. If you read about the Sassi district it has an incredible history and story to it. High recommend if you are looking for something different. The whole Basilicata region is beautiful at times breathtaking. If you are in a cave room you will have to work little to get your luggage to the room.Well worth it. Nothing

Authentic cave accommodation. Right in the middle of Sassi. The staff were extremely helpful and guided us when we got lost - multiple times. Since join the middle of the Sassi be prepared for walking up and down a lot.

Best way to see Matera is to stay in the sassi . Our rooms were over a cave museum that describes the caves that exist under Matera . Great place to stay . Clean and comfortable . Outfitted well with a covered terrace outside . Lovely ! Nothing

This place is so charming and historic! We felt very comfortable. Nothing!

The apartment was gorgeous and extremely comfortable. The location is idyllic and close to all the major sites. My host Luigi was extremely accommodating and generous. All around a great experience. Nothing could have been better.

A very cozy and spacious house. Very warm especially with its nice outdoor terrace. Hosts are excellent and very friendly. They filled the room with with delicious breakfast, fruits, coffee and snack. Just it needs a couch.

The reception was separated from the room.

The location is amazing right smack in the middle of the historic Stassi region of Matera and the rooms are built into the caves as a result. The breakfast is a large quantity of food that is left on the table and in the fridge. Bread, jams, cereal and cookies on the table. In the fridge, tomatoes, fruit, juice and milk. Because its the historic district, we had to park in a parking garage that closed by 8p and also needed to pick up the car by 1p the following day because the parking garage closed for Siesta. Also didn't realize that some of the rooms were not near the check-in and had to walk 100 meters (uphill and stairs) to a different location to access the rooms. Its tough for those that are handicap or cannot walk up stairs well.

One can feel the true vibes of Matera city at this property, you literally own a house as a real Materian! Spacious, wood furniture, a nice kitchen, a friendly host, you just need to pack and see this amazing place! There is no parking inside the old town, so plan to park outside. The property is in the heart of the old town. You will probably need one full day to explore it, but definitely stay in Matera. The bathroom key was missing, but it was not a big deal, we figured out the way of informing each other :D

The location is great. Right in the old town. There are restaurants arounds. The room was like a little house with its kitchen and living room. They brought breakfast stuff to our room every morning. The staff was so friendly and helpful.
-
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Very different and enjoyable town. Good restaurants! There is no bell service to get suitcases up cobblestones 1/2 km to the rooms. We were lucky when we arrived because Pierluigi helped us. On departure, no help ... Only showers in rooms

The room was in a cave and it came equipped with all sorts of snacks, fruits, coffee, and other goodies. The staff was very kind and helpful. They carried our two big suitcases all the way to the entrance even though I said I could do it myself. They didn't have accurate information about parking. They told us one of the recommended lots was 7 euros a day, when we arrived it ended up being 24 euros a day. They also weren't able to help us when we had to leave and catch a bus back to the car. There was an event and I guess streets were blocked off so the bus couldn't get to us. We ended walking a long way with our luggage because we didn't have any other option.

Fantastic room very well equipt. Not their fault, but parking is a huge hassle in this city
