Sonesta Essential NW Houston

Its pretty far out from the main town. If you are looking for nice stay in a decent area, this is not the one. We were there for just 2 nights and I thought repeatedly why would I book this again. Bad neighborhood. The only thing is its comparatively cheaper than other hotels. Don't fall for Sonesta name. They refused to give us breakfast the only morning we were in citing power cut issues.

Room smelt horrible (cigarettes) burning holes on blankets, and i reserved a non smoking room, water pressure is very low, 8 feet long pothole in parking lot, if you fall your car is gone, shady people coming in an out, someone was yelling, cussing and fighting on the hallway at 3am. People hanging around in the parking lot all night, that breakfast was the worse breakfast i’ve ever had, didn’t even finish it, bland eggs, powder orange juice and gray flavorless sausages , it was cheap and i thought it was a nicer hotel for a good deal, it wasnt, a Motel 6 would’ve been nicer provably

Did not like the $100 deposit. Only problem properties require this type of deposit. Amenities like laundry, business center & first floor bathrooms were not in service. Back door inoperable. Slight moldy odor in room.

The area is just not a good area at all. Lots of homeless people walking around the area.

We received breakfast vouchers, and all they had was waffles, toast, cereal and juice. One of my family members asked the kitchen staff lady for fruit yet she never acknowledged she just looked at her in an ugly manner but shortly later brought the fruit. Dissatisfied

Great, however, the staff had not replenished the breakfast items at all. We arrived well on time for breakfast. There was barely anything. Some lady who also arrived with us, requested for the food to be replenished, but the staff didn't seem to care. Finally, after several people complained, they brought a few slices of bread and re-filled the milk. This was the worst breakfast experience.

The room it self was nice, but that was all. The staff was very rude. Tried to call the front desk for over an hour, no one answered. Thank goodness it wasn't an emergency. The air conditioner was very loud and wasn't working properly. There is a hole in the driveway that you can not get around. Over all, we will not be staying there again.

Great location next to many restaurants and a gas station. Walking in the lobby, very fresh, clean v.s. The room smelled like something has been wet and dried. The cleaning staff was friendly, overall 4/5

Not worth the money. They state they have a free buffet...the options are beyond sparse and they didnt have any water. The morning manager was kind to me and my kids.

Don’t stay here. The hotel is in a bad part of town. The rooms smelled like mold, tobacco and other substances that are illicit…The room was so dirty and disgusting as well as the whole hotel. I checked in and checked right out and want my money back. Luckily I did the deposit with cash and was able to get it back right away. DO NOT STAY HERE. Expedia you need to do better.

I used to stay here a lot until the morning lady at the front desk accused me of smoking inside my hotel room, and did not give me back my $100 deposit. This is the messed part. I don’t even smoke. How does this make any sense. I didn’t like the fact that they kept my deposit because of the front desk lady thought I smoked inside my room and I don’t even smoke. Not cool.

I booked for 4 nights the queen suite w kitchen. Everything was perfect, i enjoyed the comfortable spacious room i ended up staying 3 more nights.

No security its surrounded area in not the best... i did not feel safe i would not go back to this hotel. Thus us a personal opinion its my experience anyone might have different. We never stayed in thos hotel we thought it was great but we would not go back. Personaly I thought it woukd be good but no. Hell nah... Terrible area of town, broken elevator buttons, shower in room did not work. Receptionist was very courteous, although she was new and inexperienced. I checked in and immediately checked out and went elsewhere. Avoid the headache and book elsewhere. The 1 star is for the amazing receptionist, the facility would receive 0 stars if possible.

The coffee maker. Towels in bathroom were clean. Cockroach's and loud music next door to my room. Dirty and stained furniture. Scratchy sheets.

Its an older hotel. In fairly good shape though. Quiet, clean. Room was nice. Breakfast was excellent. Pool sparkling clean. Check in and out was a breeze. We really enjoyed our stay. Would use this hotel again for our next trip.

The pictures are deceiving. This looks more like a motel. The elevators were down and cable was out. I did appreciate them transferring my reservation to the Holiday Inn with no charge. The young lady upfront was very nice as well.

We did not stay at that place. At arrival, there were two untrustable persons, one outside and the other one was inside the location, this one joined the one outside. When my family noticed that, they got nervous and we decided to leave the place, at the same time we asked for reimbursement and they denied to reimbursement.

Breakfast was weak. Bedroom was ok besides toilet not working then the maintenance man supposedly came to fix it just for it to break again. Housekeeping didnt bring fresh towels the whole weekend.

I was highly disappointed with my stay. After we paid they waited to inform us the elevators were out and the maintenanceman will be there to fix it. It never got fixed and I stayed on the 4th floor so i had to carry everything up and down. Also had holes in the walls and Roaches inside the bedroom and Livingroom. I informed the staff and they said it was nothing they can do and they have no on-site manager. I will never stat there again

Second time staying here, both times have been a good experience, elevator was loud and squeaky the first time but they have fixed it since then. Rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast was good. Will definitely stay here again.

After a long day of travel, we checked into the hotel around 6. The room smelled terrible, I was hoping that after we went to go eat dinner the smell would subside and we would be ok. I was wrong, and the smell seemed worse. The room was on the third floor. I went down to see if they had a different room, because the smell was so bad. The women at the front desk was very nice and tried to be accommodating. She seemed like she was very overwhelmed. She said at first there were no rooms with double beds but she could try and give a room with one bed and a pullout. She went to check to make sure the room was clean and came back and said room was good, this was on the fifth floor. I took the elevator up, which was loud and sounded like it was going to break, but the key she gave me didn’t work. At this point my family had packed their stuff and was waiting in lobby. I came back down and told her it wouldn’t work. At that point she said she found one more double room that might work, or else she would have to accommodate me a at a different hotel. This time we tried the room on the second floor and this time it worked. The room was okay and didn’t smell. We were able to use the stairs and avoid the elevator, one was loud and one didn’t work. Other issues included no hot water for showers, which was extremely inconvenient. We also never had enough towels because there was four of us and they’d only replace with two. So each time they replaced towels I had to ask for more.

My stay at the sonesta was good ,I was a little worried at first because the pool was closed & I was looking forward to swimming, I couldn’t get in the fitness room to work out and my room I had at first looked like someone tried to break in! But over all . I stayed because is was clean and quiet .I sleep like a princess, the workers were wonderful & polite and the restaurant around the hotel was delicious. I would stay there again.

Left and I had a feeling to check my bank account just to see I had been charged 3 times so 300$ total the clerk wasn’t the issue he tried to help the property itself and the customer service is horrible do not spend your money here you’re better off sleeping in your hot car

I liked the way the were eager to help us and they were very detailed on explaining the policy. The only thing I did not like about the property was the rushing of house keepers they were rushing us to leave. Very rude like.

I have booked a room, went to hotel homding my confirmation number- and a very rude reception man told me they don’t have available rooms! How can it be possible to book a room in the hotel go there and they tell you they don’t have available room?!

There was hair on my toilet paper. Only one elevator worked. There is no first aid kit on site, or so we were told when my husband asked for a bandaid. The fence around the property is so full of blank spots and broken poles that it should just be taken down. Did not feel safe.

Do not stay here - they will give any one access to your room and your things will be gone and then not refund your deposit back . I am filling a negligence lawsuit against this hotel and the owner/operator and the employee conducting shady inappropriate business .

This hotel was absolutely disgusting and completely unorganized. The first room they gave me had two cockroaches crawling around before I could even set my bags down. That alone was enough to make me question the cleanliness of the place. I immediately went to the front desk to report it, and they reassigned me to another room—only for me to walk in and find someone already in there! I felt terrible for invading that person’s privacy, but that’s on the hotel for being so careless and unprofessional. The lack of organization and cleanliness here is shocking, and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Breakfast cleaning staff was rude telling us why we did we use butter for waffle machine instead of of cooking spray & why we didnt pull out our waffle out if it was ready. 1. machine didnt beep 2. What is it to her if i like butter in my waffle. What a way the start the morning. If she didnt feel like working she should of stayed home no wonder why we were the only people at breakfast, she ran all of them off.

Lady That Works Here Front Desk Is Horrible Keep Knocking At My Door Bothering Me And My Kids Complained About My Kids Riding They Bikes Told Management To Not Let Me Extend My Stay Third Floor Is Packed With Roaches Rushed My Kids out The Breakfast Area Her And Lobby Cleaner Sat And Talked About My Kids Pointing They Finger Just A Nightmare And No One Deserves THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT JUST SAD. Lady That Works Here Front Desk Is Horrible Keep Knocking At My Door Bothering Me And My Kids Complained About My Kids Riding They Bikes Told Management To Not Let Me Extend My Stay Third Floor Is Packed With Roaches Rushed My Kids out The Breakfast Area Her And Lobby Cleaner Sat And Talked About My Kids Pointing They Finger Just A Nightmare And No One Deserves THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT JUST SAD. AND I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN

This is an older motel. We were in town for christmas and were not planning on staying. However, it got really late and we found the hotel closest as it was pouring rain. The staff was so so friendly, the hotel smelled and looked very clean. It is older and a little outdated but the price was really good to lay our heads down. The place was clean the bed was comfy. Dont expect fancy, but u do receive great service and clean place.

When I checked in with my family the room and bathroom was full of roaches. Even the furniture in the room was very dirty too. Very dissatisfied.

The room was incredible dirty. There were roaches in the bathtub and crawling on the wall. The sheets had stains all over them. The water pressure in the bathroom was non existent. We ended up leaving and staying somewhere else because i did not feel comfortable at this place. We went back in the morning to turn in our key, but i was not at all happy with the experience here. If I had not had already checked in I would have requested a refund just due to seeing so many roaches crawling in the room upon us getting in there.

It was in a terrible neighborhood, it smelled like trash all th rooms. and drugs. There were bags of garbage outside almost every room..there were weird people walking around andcalotvof children in diapers running around. I could go I n and on

Tower not enough, toilet paper on counter top, floor carpet not clean, lot of cockroaches everywhere.…no hot breakfasts

We left immediately and went to the front desk for help but all they said was to contact the third-party website that we used to book the rooms for the refund. Absolutely no help at all. Do not waste your time here.

The area is not bad, close to dinning and shopping. Sometimes the front desk, in my opinion is left unattended to long.

Staff was rude, took for ever to do check in, did not accept my passport as identification. The room i got smelled like Marijuana, so i changed it. The second room I got had a big stain (looked like blood) on the floor. And the 3rd room i got, the room smelled like mold. So, good luck!

It was CHEAP and clean and NICE! We had a lil suite bathroom was clean bed was comfy breakfast wasnt all that BUT it was free. The staff was SUPER FRIENDLY 👌 MY WEEKEND WAS PERFECT!

The pool was ok. The hotel had a cockroach infestation but they treated the hotel as there were dead cockroaches rather than live at the end.

Unpleasant stay. My room smelled a bit like smoke (suppose to be non-smoking) and had roaches. We informed the front desk and the kind girl said they couldn't move me as they were fully booked. I'm fully aware if my room & my brother's room had roaches the rest had them too, so moving was not a solution. I unfortunately could not book another hotel as many were booked or too far from the area. Our door was also opened (nothing missing), and when I told them the front desk made a report to management. I have yet to be contacted by them. I reviewed all the reviews on Hotel.com about this place and had 3+ stars. None of the reviews mentioned roaches. The front desk and housekeeping were nice and attempted to help, but it's the management/owners of the hotel who failed. I wish I could get a refund. Never staying there nor recommending anyone to stay there.

Was unable to gain entry from any other side doors. One scanner missing the other one didn’t work.

If you’re looking for a cheap hotel, I wouldn’t consider. Pay a little extra For something that will actually be better. Never stayed in the cheap hotel again

There was nothing to like about this location. The hotel was roach infested.

The breakfast Thursday morning consisted of cereal, toast, banana, apple, orange, apple juice, milk and coffee. The elevator did not work. The outside grounds had big pile of brush in the parking lot and trash laying all around . Had to get clean towels. Turn in old towels. Lamp on table did not work. Refrigerator barely kept things cool. I would not recommend this. Please we're there each day because of vehicle break-ins. One contractor lost over $3,000 worth of tools.

Power wasn’t working in the room which they assigned us earlier. After informing, they changed our room. Air conditioning poor. Toilets not cleaned. This is the worst experience I have ever had.

Had a few great fresh nights of sleep, Larry was very helpful and friendly, whole staff was friendly straight up, place gets a bad rap cause of the neighborhood however don’t let discourage you from staying here

Upon our arrival, we were notified that your hotel’s elevator was indispensable. Since we had a late check-in we were not left with any options. Not only do we have a large suitcase which is a struggle to go up and down the stairs with but my sister struggles with asthma. I would have wished someone contacted their guest to notify us about this since the elevator had been broken for over a week. As you can imagine this was a major inconvenience to us and others. The front desk associate for the night shift was nice and offered to exchange rooms in the morning when others checked out. The next morning we asked the morning shift if we would be able to move rooms and her response was immediately no. We also mentioned our television not working. She did not seem to want to help us out and was majorly rude about it. We hadnt been there for more than 12 hours and our experience with your hotel and staff was the worst I have experienced to date. don’t stay here !!’

Never coming back here

The place was completely dirty, the bed had beg bugs and there was roaches in the kitchen. I have pictures of everything and contacted them but they still haven’t answered me. I left the exact same night and I’m trying to get a refund for the stay since I didn’t actually stay.

Elevator didn't work and my room was on the fifth floor and first door I see when coming out of the stairs was a broken room door, one the side doors to enter the hotel was broken, homeless people hanging around outside where the working side door is at. Pretty sure I was close to getting robbed by one of the homeless guys outside because he hid behind one of the cars and walked quickly towards me but i entered the building before he could catch up and then heard him say "f***"...anyways didn't have a problem with roaches my room was clean. This place shouldn't even require a deposit.

Room had missing fire alarm cover missing and ac control cover broken, the elevator as broken never repaired through out my stay for 6 days, I had lower back problems to use stairs. Very disappointing!!!!!

There is a roach infestation in the room I stayed in. I killed 5 roaches and they just kept coming out. I had a roach crawl on me while using the bathroom. I was highly disappointed with my stay.

First elevator didnt work all 4 days. Carry luggage up to 5th floor. Room was half cleaned and there was no towels in room.. When i got towels they were half clean. Room smells. Staff sucks. Worst hotel in Houston.

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The towels and bed sheets had holes and stains. I had to go and buy some towels, and thank God I brought my own blanket. The chair in the room was filthy and full of stains. The carpet was dirty and full of stains. Customer service was deplorable, they had young people working at the front desk, and they never no anything also the elevator was not working which made it worse for our entire stay we had to go up and down the dirty stairs. Please do not stay in this hotel. Not worth a penny.

The elevators were not working, they only had bread and waffles for breakfast, no protein or anything else. They hold your deposit for one week before they reimburse you again. We woke up with a police officer looking for 2 people on the room next door. Terrible experience, and the shower had some dirt coming out of the bath tub water

This was the worst time i had at a hotel in years. I call earlier that day to check on my reservation not at one time did they tell me the elevators where broken. When i made it late that night they tell me its to late to go anywhere else. They showed no concern. My wife have bad knees and hip so you can understand the pain she was in. Don't recommend this location.
