This is an amazing hotel in the heart of historic Heidelberg. The owner and staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Everything is within walking distance, and I mean everything. The original entry columns to the city stand just a few steps away, We had views of the castle from our suite. The owner told us about the “philosophers walk” just over the bridge for amazing views of Heidelberg from across the river. Our bed was incredibly comfortable & breakfast was plentiful and tasty. There is a lift, so you don’t have to haul your suitcases upstairs. The food in the restaurant was really, really good. We came in tired from a day of exploring and asked if they could send up a plate of food for us, as there was no room in the restaurant. It was delicious. If it is available, book Room 8, the suite. Besides a living area, you also have a deck with chairs and a chaise lounge to relax and look at the castle or just enjoy the peace and quiet. It was the only room left and we felt lucky.

The bedrooms were more spartan than expected but the bed was comfortable.

The staff first and foremost made me want to plan come back here again soon. They were so helpful and kind. My daughter and I struggled to make it down in time for breakfast, in fact showing up with only 3 minutes left. They didn’t rush us and allowed us time to eat. The location right by the Old Bridge was perfect. It was very easy to find our way back to the hotel each time we ventured out. It was really nice having a restaurant right downstairs as well.

The hotel is in a perfect location. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room was perfect for 3 people, spacious with a table, fridge, towel warmer and complementary beverages in the room. Beds were very comfortable Nothing

Can’t get more perfect location, right in the heart of the historic district, close to all, restaurant one of the finest in town, staff (shout out to Dennis, awesome dude!) was the best, only minor complaint would be the tiny bathroom and foul odor whenever flushing the toilet, but everything else was outstanding. We enjoyed our stay at Hackteufel. The staff was freindly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and had everything we wanted. We had lunch and dinner at their restaurant. It was delicious. The location was around the corner from the Christmas market and the main shopping street. We highly recommend staying here. Everything was great.

Everything! The location, the amenities, food and staff. We had both dinner and breakfast in house and were quite happy with it. Hats off to Denis the all-around host who saw to our needs and answered our many questions.

Nice room and excellent location for a one night stay. There was no onsite parking. There could have been a better description as to how to locate and acess the adjacent public parking garage. The public parking was, however, well located and the location provided great acess to the Heidlburg Castle.
