Appears they are either in renovations or didn’t think it through. The place was clean, the bed was comfortable, had a mini fridge and microwave. The bed has motion lights so when you got up at 2am for the restroom the whole place lit up. Everyone will think differently, but for me, as someone with insomnia, that didn’t help. There were a few things missing; there was no shelf in the shower to place your items, no Kleenex, no soap holder by the sink (so had to put the soap on a towel), no towel hooks by the sink or in the restroom. There was an electric stove in the kitchenette but no pans or anything to cook with… for the money it was fine. It’s close walking distance to downtown and beaches.

Windows don’t close, no tv just static, WiFi slow, spider webs, dirty beds, only one pillow.

The renovated rooms are so nice! I do think the weekend rates are definitely too high, however, the weekday rates are fair and it’s a nice area near the ocean.

Great spot to stay at! Front desk people were super nice!

This was the worst experience in many years. We reserved a more expensive Double-Queen room, out of two Double-Queen options available, thinking that it would be a better or bigger room. When we arrived at 4:05pm, our room was not ready, and we were told that we needed to wait until 4:30, because that was our check-in time. I showed the staff that our check-in was at 4pm. But that didn’t move anyone. It also transpired that we were being checked into a ‘standard queen-queen’ room. When I asked about that and stated that I paid for the more expensive option, I was told that we were in one of the old rooms, and that if I wanted to be checked in into one of the upgraded rooms, I would have to pay an extra $35. I showed them the picture in my confirmation email and on the Hotels.com website and they confirmed that those were the upgraded rooms, but kept insisting that we were being checked into the old room, and that it was Hotels.com’s fault. Seeing the pictures, they started to get agitated and started raising voice at me. I walked away and called Hotels.com. To cut the long story short, I ended up paying the extra $35 and got refunded by Hotels.com. Stay away.

Easy to check in

Room was decent sized. The room was very dirty however. Seemed like a surface cleaning. Could see grime on the countertops, shower, and floors.

Unfortunately a pair of my wife’s sandals “went missing” during our stay. Furthermore I forgot my usb phone charger on the plug, phoned them after checkout, but without even checking the room number or dentils the return of the operator was strong that nothing was left behind. Must think unfortunately that it is not a trustable inn - beware of your things there.

A very nice stay overall. We've stayed here several times-my wife traveled solo this trip. Housekeeping came in and changed out towels but didn't make the bed (?) Also, there were ants in the kitchen area. I'll be staying there myself on my next trip to Encinitas. I have to say the renovations they have made are excellent. A very good place to stay.

We were so pleased with the newly renovated double queen room. It was clean, bright enough (lots of lighting choices) and a dark out screen helped for a good night sleep, surprisingly quiet for being next to the train track and the coast highway. It’s more than half a mile walk to the descending steps to beach but through nice neighborhoods with a bike path to follow. So close to really great restaurants and generally the perfect hidden gem! We love it here because it’s still the feeling of small beach town, California not so inundated with tourists, more of a local scene. The staff were super friendly and kind too! The maids even tidied our room and brought clean towels every day! I can’t say enough positive things!
