Hostal River

Location was perfect. The property initially gave us the wrong room, which was dirty, dimly lit and clearly meant for one person when we reserved for two people. We had to complain continuously before they gave us our original room (which was mistakenly given to someone else). They lied that the rooms are the same and the room was for 2 people.

Nice staff and comfortable room

Central location, the good value for money and friendly staff. The building is old and hasn’t been renovated in some time, and noise from the hallway and water from neighboring rooms.

The room was very small, but that wasn’t a problem for us since we spent most of the time outside and only came back to sleep. It was just very hot, and the nights were almost unbearable. We kept the window open, but then mosquitoes would come in: even though we were there in October.

Next to metro Liceu; Wifi was pretty decent. Cleaninless on spot. There is sort of like a kitchen but is mainly a kettle and microwave, no cups nothing. Bring cash for the city tax. Insulation not the best. The headboard of the bed was loose and noisy.

Dirty, no AC, no electricity for half a day.

Nice staff I had at least 70 bed bug bites on me after fourth night of staying. I also had my necklace stripped off from my neck on my first night on the street five steps away from this accom. I won’t be going back to Barcelona again in my life time.

The location was good if you wanted to be close to La Rambla and not too far from the marina. There was no air con in the rooms and it was unbearably hot. It was cooler outside of the room than in, even with the small fan going that was left inside of the room. There was a friendly lady who checked us in who spoke good English, but then there were men who were rude and unfriendly manning the desk at other times.

Basic accommodation in good location. For the high prices of Barcelona this is good value.

Great location!

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hostel is not luxurious, but was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The location is extremely convenient. Excellent value!

Shared bathroom but it's ok, easy to access and most of the time empty.

The shared bathroom and shower were also very clean. The location is very close to everything. The room doesn't have a fridge but you can ask the staff and they will put it in their fridge which was very helpfull. All in all good value for the price. The neigborhood can be loud at nighttimes. Some sketchy people in the streets during the night, but we didn't have any problems.

The first thing i noticed was how clean the room was, it smelled great and was cleaned everyday. The location is also great, but as a girl i wouldn’t stay out too late, it doesn’t look so safe to be out alone at night.

Great location

Easy access to critical and tourist spots around the city. Very noisy street below, could hear everything going on. Also the past night some sort of beeping wqs coming from the corridor for 3 hours straight and prevented me from sleeping. Wouldn’t recommend.

Location was great.recommended for solo traveler.

Was all fine- clean and tidy. Only bad thing is the shared toilet so just be aware of this when booking, not enough toilets to rooms so always waiting at night and in the morning.
