The hotel charged me for three nights even though I only booked one through hotels.com. The front desk worker did help me get a refund, which I appreciated, but he definitely didn’t seem too happy to be there. Room was not as nice as the pictures portray. Some dirty areas.

This place is in serious need of updating/renovations etc. It just smelled old! Sonesta you can do better.

Great big oaks to chill under, beautiful potted plants added a nice touch to the entry way. Room was spacious and equipped with all I needed during my stay.

A couple of things that I'd bring a little more attention to would be the requirement of small deposit. I made this reservation through the app and there was no mention of deposit required. It wasn't a problem however for those that are budget minded it could create a hiccup. Also to note, I had phoned regarding an item that I accidently left in the room after check out. They couldn't locate it in lost & found, so they were going to check with House keeping and phone me back the next day. The returned call never materialized.

The room was adequate, recently updated but still showed signs of age. The in-room kitchen and full size refrigerator were great amenities. The location of the hotel is convenient to many other stores, shopping, food options.

The price was unbeatable and made the stay still worth it. While our room was clean, the smell of the cleaning product or air freshener used was so strong and really unpleasant. The hallway carpet, walls etc were in poor shape but I believe they are in the middle of a much needed refresh.

We did not need to use the kitchenette part of the room, but it was a very nice setup. I did use the coffee makert....All rooms have an ironing board, iron and of course hair dryer which saves time having to request them to be brought to you. The online info shows breakfast is included, and it was not. That was rough in the morning since we had to locates somewhere else to eat last minute.

When I brought this up to the front desk, the manager Madison said she must have missed my room when putting up notices. It seems they could have informed me upon check-in the night before so that I would be aware. The painter put a plastic tarp over the window, which stayed for the next 2 days. It's not that I booked the room for a view, but it is incredibly claustrophobic when your window is blocked for your entire stay! As for cleanliness , the curtain is directly over the air conditioning vent, and was black with caked on dirt/dust. There is no way a housekeeper wouldn't have seen it. On a positive note, the front desk agent named Abby was very friendly.

Room is quite big, it is dated as far as furnishings and they were painting the outside so maybe in the procesa of a remodel but they were quiet. Convenient to The Domain, no breakfast included (bring snacks), sufficient parking, and staff was friendly. Room kitchen is pretty stacked and full fridge. Maybe after remodel and some better offerings when it comes to deinks and snacks, maybe a possible longer stay location but it was nice for one evening.

Check in staff was friendly and helpful. The exterior of the building was being renovated so the parking lot was a bit congested. The lobby area is very small but it serves its purpose.

Nice sized and clean room. Although I didn’t use the in room kitchen it had a stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and kitchen equipment. The hotel was quiet and the bed was comfortable. I stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay there again. Check in was efficient.

The plastic floor is sticky, and the carpet is felt a little bit wet in done area (due to humidity?)

Staff members knocked on the door two separate times in the morning for an “inventory check”… never had anyone disturb the room in the morning before check out, strange event.

Nothing There were no beds available after I booked a room

I asked one of the housekeepers when would they clean my room. She replied every 15 days. I told her I’m only here for 7 nights and that it was already 3 days one had come to clean my room. I also went to front desk to request for room cleaning the person told me on Monday you should have someone clean your room. I asked on a Saturday she told me on Sunday they only have one housekeeper. I wouldn’t ever stay at this hotel again.

There are better options in the area for guests who only need a night or two and want a hotel bar, breakfast, and common areas.

The location and cost were the main considerations and this delivered. The room was clean and comfortable. Overall a good deal if that is what you want. The halls kind of smelled and it seemed more like a short term rental than a hotel. The person next door had a big cat that came out into the hallway.

Terribly run down, outdated, and dirty. Gym is falling apart. Floors are filthy. Rooms are decrepit. This place just needs to be gutted and torn down. Don’t stay here.

The room was good for the price I paid. Not the most comfortable bed and the bathroom vent which automatically came on with light was annoying. Room coffee was good and I liked the area.

From the moment I arrived, the property felt a bit uncomfortable. The hallways are outdated, not very clean, and had a noticeable damp, “wet dog” smell (likely due to being pet-friendly). Unfortunately, the cleanliness inside the room was also an issue. The carpet appeared VERY DIRTY I found clumps of hair, a small metal spring on the floor, and facial hair around the bathroom sink, and bathtub gets super clogged (shin level) The finishes and overall condition of the room are quite worn and outdated, unlike what the photos suggest. However, I will say the hotel is very quiet, and the staff was friendly and helpful, which is the reason for my rating. If cleanliness were improved, this place could easily deserve a higher score for its category. For families, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. It may be more suitable for short stays, travelers passing through, or adults traveling with pets. Personally, I don’t consider it ideal for kids. After reading more reviews during my stay, I also got the impression that some long-term guests may be encouraged to leave positive ratings, so I would take reviews into consideration carefully. Would I or my family stay here again? DEFINITELY NOT

Found some roaches in the bathroom and kind of dumb that i couldn’t use my chime card with them when i got there at first but they gave me my deposit refund back through my chime so that didn’t make sense. Overall an ok stay and really nice staff.

Room had a foul stale stinch, had to turn the tv by hand (no remote). Room was hot due to poorly installed ac unit. Had a contact high due to all the weed smoking being done outside around the entrance and sides of the property. Definitely wouldn’t book here again I’d rather sleep in my car!!!

The room was clean, it was quiet. However, it's more of an extended stay, not an overnight or two stay kind of place. They do not clean the rooms daily and they did not replace the stock items like coffee, sugar, towels etc. There is no breakfast and the items you can purchase to eat and/or drink are very limited.

Very nice place in Domain area, with shopping and entertainment centers nearby. Whole Food Market is within short walking distance and so is Panera. If you feel like watching movie Regal is right across the street. The rooms have everything what is listed plus they can give you some additional kitchen appliances (e.g. blender) if you need it. There is also a laundry room and a gym of the first floor, free of charge. The staff is super nice, everybody was helpful and friendly.

Comfortable bed and pillows, places to sit, lots of storage and places to put stuff. There are woods around it and it was surprisingly quiet. Good places to walk our dogs. Good shower. Staff was responsive. A little shabby, evidence of pet damage, not the cleanest.

For the price this place provides a great value. The place is clean, the kitchennete is well stocked, the bed is comfortable, the location is good, the facilities are reasonable, and I felt safe. Not much. I don't love the $100 security deposit they take upon check-in, but I get it.

Room was a little musty, steam cleaning planned after our stay. Happy my medicine bag was found and I was able to get it back. VERY happy front desk pays attention to side doors with who walks in, ensuring safety of guests! Bonus for that!!

The room was good and very clean. The desk and office setup is outstanding, the best part of the room. Wish there would have been some USB adapters on the desk - if there were any, I didn't find them. Bed was acceptable. Shower was a little bit industrial and flow of water was kind of harsh. You have to make your coffee in the room as they have no coffee in the lobby. TV was kind of old and small but not the worst thing. When I got off the elevator and was walking along the corridor to my room, it kind of smelled funky - partly because people are cooking meals in their rooms. Location is very good near the Domain. Overall, I would say a B+.

I stated that because the person who checked in before me had a dog that had its two front paws on the check in counter and when it was my turn there was dog hair on the counter. The room was old and dingy...the TV was dim..also the kid at the check in desk charged me $100 for incidentals which is ok...but then I grabbed a coke and chips and told him to put it on my room and he said that charge was for a deposit ??? Lastly...this is a regular hotel like a Hyatt Place or Candlewood...but...they charge you to park in their parking lot and don't tell you till you check out....like it was almost comical. SO...if you think you are checking in to this place and it is like the Sonesta in Bee Cave....NO...same name...different brand. Stay away.

Good room layout but very old furniture and appliances, Wasn't too expensive so a good value, but you might want to consider a new property nearby.

Hard to find!!!

I booked at the Sonesta Simply Suites Austin the Domain area. I was excited and had high expectations. The main reason I picked this hotel was because there was a kitchenette. As I pulled in I could tell from the outside it was an older hotel. As I walked in to check in there were men outside just starring. I already started to have a weird feeling. As checking in I was trying to be open minded. As I got the key to my room I rushed there. I could already tell that I wasn’t going to safe. The place just seemed sketchy. I got in my room and locked the door. The room had a musky smell. The room was dirty had greasy hand prints all over the furniture. I again tried to be open minded. I told myself I’m only here for 4 nights. I did not feel comfortable to even unpack my suitcase. I went into the restroom where there were pubes in the toilet, the tub was stained dirty and the towels had a funky odor. I still decided to take a shower. While showering the water was collecting and collecting. The shower did not drain. After that I packed my items up and went to the front desk and told the male Matthew that I wanted to check out and get a refund. He asked what was wrong and I told him I didn’t feel safe at this hotel and it was sketchy. He told me since I booked through Expedia I would need to contact them. As I got to my car there were a few roaches on the roof. I quickly got in the car and booked another hotel. I got in touch with Expedia which were so sympathetic and understanding.

It doesn't look great looking from the outside but everything in the room is just clean and neat. The frontdesk staff is also very helpful and efficient. Was concerned about the condition of the laundry but it turned out great. Plenty of free parking place and it is only 20mins from downtown Austin.

This is not a fancy place. It is a bit worn around the edges and minimally staffed. The room I stayed in was very clean but there was an "industrial" odor that permeated the space; I became attenuated to it after an hour but it was noticeable every time I came in the room anew. The place was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen space was quite functional. If you're looking for amenities, keep looking. If you want an affordable spot to stay for a few days, this is fine. Once you learn the roads around the place, it is in a spot to easily access much of the Austin area.

The hotel is in a weird location and the lighting isn’t well lit. I was solo traveler and the taxi driver seemed creepy. I was not sure if the hotel was open once we pulled up. So, the taxi driver was being nice I guess by walking me into the hotel. But, I was very nervous about the experience. Everything seemed okay after getting checked in. Then the taxi driver call me back that morning saying he will pick me up to my destination. So, that when okay! The hotel is in a weird location and the lighting isn’t well lit. I was solo traveler and the taxi driver seemed creepy. I was not sure if the hotel was open once we pulled up. So, the taxi driver was being nice I guess by walking me into the hotel. But, I was very nervous about the experience. Everything seemed okay after getting checked in. Then the taxi driver call me back that morning saying he will pick me up to my destination. So, that when okay! I enjoyed the rooms and how they were set up like it’s an actual house feeling to it and it came with a lot , now I’m just waiting for my security deposit back ( it’s been 2 weeks )

Friendly staff and clean rooms Rooms felt old

Room chair was rip and peeling bad, wall and bathroom door was dirty and had a hole in it. The carpet had big red stains on different areas of the carpet. I went and told the front desk about it and they said for two weeks they suppose to be having a repair/cleaning situation. The first floor smelled bad and I hate they hold a $100 fee until you leave, with the condition they have right now with the rooms they don’t need to be holding anything until they get everything looking better. I can say that it was silent on the floor I was on and no issue with parking.

The key didn’t work after three attempts going back to front desk and he finally had to let me in room but no access alone since there was never a key made or contacted with a solution.

I had a pleasant stay and my bed was confortable. I like the size of the room and the big desk. I gave it a 3 start rating in cleanliness and condition because the top of the refrigerator looked really dirty. It's a small, but full size refrigerator and is the first thing you see as you walk in the room

Very clean and spacious rm. They have pots and pans, flatware and more things you'll need for cooking.

They charge for parking. My room had a faint smell.

I always stay at Simply Sonesta Domain while in Austin because of the location and price. This time the room had a strange odor, the furnishings were shabby and there was a huge space under the door which led to unwanted noise. The staff is always the best, the property could use some updating and recycling options.

My husband and I stayed here for about a week while we had work done on our house. It’s nothing fancy, but it worked fine. We even had our kitty cat with us. I will say they are very pet friendly. The room was clean, and the kitchen was adequately stocked. The front office staff left something to be desired, but all in all I’d give it a B+.

For a one night stay, it got the job done. The hotel shows some sign of age, but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was nice having a full sized fridge and freezer in the room. The young man working at the front desk was very polite and helpful.

Inside was ok, outside like dorms. If you are not willing to pay more for hotel, that’s what you get. Not good, not bad!

Check-in was smooth, however check in area doesn’t look very welcoming and gives an initial bad impression. The room set up is nice with small kitchenette with plates, pans, utensils etc to cook. However, for us there was items left in the dishwasher when we arrived that we weren’t sure if they had been cleaned or not. There is living room and designated bedroom. Bathroom was roomy and had nice walk in shower. The staff were all nice and helpful. Overall location is nice, it’s close to a lot of outdoor shopping and entertainment. Overall, I would say this hotel is good for the price and would stay again for another short weekend stay.

I feel like I've been catfished. The room looks nothing like the photos. mix matched appliances, run down, a smell of ramen noodles that I can't seem to get rid of. Its a very 2 star hotel at best. Perks, the floor is quiet, front desk was nice and hospitable and there is security to overlook the parking lot. Just disappointed in what I thought I was paying for.

It's a sub-par property. The room had a lingering smell of cigarettes even though I was in a non-smoking room. Otherwise, nothing special. If you're just going to be in and out for a day or two, it's fine. There is no breakfast or anything, but there are some places nearby.

The staff here is so kind and friendly. However, my room made me sick. I had to keep the window open and then fan in the bathroom on. The rugs were "Moist" and the after sleeping overnight, I would wake up with raging headaches that would go away as soon as I left within 10 minutes. The dishwasher had dirty dishes in it. I feel horrible leaving this review as the staff was SO nice and helpful. This hotel needs a remodel. The elevators always smelled like someone was smoking weed IN the elevators and it was smoky.

I had a great room on the third floor, in the corner so I was shielded from other rooms' noise for the most part. Matt was great, very friendly and helpful.

The mini kitchen is a nice perk, stocked with cookware and other essentials. There is a lending area with items like a blender. A BBQ area is also provided. Bed was comfy and the room was clean. The AC and full size fridge were kind of loud at night, but the area is relatively quiet. Very pet friendly!

The property looked old on the inside. the handle on the bath tub was loose. There was a burn in the carpet. I didn't see a cleaning person one time. The gym equipment was dirty. The remote for the TV in the room didn't work. The caulk job in the rooms bathroom looked like a 2 year old did it. There was an abandoned card in the paring lot that said if not picked up by 10/14 it will be towed and it was 10/24.

Expect to be charged a $100 security deposit upon checking in. Room was remodeled heavily and could see all repairs on the walls, ceilings, and floors etc. I didn’t even bother to report anything I only stay one night. Just made sure to take pictures of everything just in case they tried to keep the $100 deposit, that I was forced to adhere.

The elevator smells terrible. The service desk people were never around. The room was ok as far as bedding but the furniture was torn and tattered and there where holes in the wall stuffed with paper towels.

First time staying at a Simply Suites version of Sonesta. It is an older hotel but the room was clean and smelled very nice. They don't offer ice therefore, you have to wait patiently for the freezer to make enough cubes for blending margaritas. LOL. Otherwise, just grab a bag of ice from the gas station. The TV was outdated but who really watch TV when during vacation? I'd stay again.

They allow pets, so rooms will have a musty dog smell.

It’s an older hotel but the rooms are clean. The only thing is the 3rd floor hallway smells of mold; once you get into the room there’s no issue. We did like the fact we had a full kitchen, even for the weekend.

Staff was nice and the property seemed to be in a quiet area. Felt like the photos misrepresented the place a bit, overall the hotel is old. Lots of small details that were in need. I would not stay here again at the price point that it is set at.

For this to be a Sonesta brand i expected a lot more. It was outdated and dirty and moldy. The restroom had black mold in the restroom and water marks on the ceiling and also holes in the walls. The hallways smelled like dirty dog. And I asked for room service and the housekeeper said they only do it once a week . I then just asked her for towels bc she obviously didn’t wanna clean my room . I wouldn’t book here .

I didn’t like the smell from the garbage disposal, the top of the fridge look like it had not been cleaned in awhile, and the toilet overflowed the morning after I stayed. I booked for two nights but only stayed one night. I did not even bother returning because I didn’t sleep well. The furniture is outdated and needs replacement. Other than the issues above it was okay, but I just couldn’t stay another night. I read reviews before booking this place is 2-3 stars or 5/10

Suite room was well equiped, bed and pillows were very comfortable. Room was clean and updated. Very quiet.

Elevators were a little sketchy sometimes and had a bad smell sometimes. Coffee area was a just ok: not always stocked well and sometimes messy. Other than that, great stay. Very cozy.
