The hotel has a great location with easy access to downtown and local attractions. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, especially Alessia. However, there are issues with the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms, and the breakfast is disappointing. Additionally, the area around the hotel is not safe and has a high number of homeless people.

Parking is convenient, but expensive almost $50/day. Breakfast options on day 1 were good, on the second day we did not like them as much. There was very loud music being played at a bar/restaurant close to the hotel. When we notified the front desk they very promptly switched our room to a different room on the other side of the building where the music did not bother us, this was very good of the hotel staff. Overall a very nice, compact and convenient place to stay.

Cons: Very inconvenient check-in. The Holiday Inn and the Indigo share a building and a front desk. There is no place to park to check in. You can't even get in the lobby of the Holiday Inn without a key card. you have to go around to the Indigo's front desk. The parking for Holiday Inn is 3 floors down in the garage (past 3 floors of valet) and the spots are TIGHT. To be fair - I looked at several hotels in downtown Austin and Holiday Inn had the cheapest parking available. This is just part of staying downtown I think. But be prepared for schlepping your stuff up 2 elevators. And the walk to the check-in/out desk is not short and involves yet another elevator. Also, the hotel provided ear plugs in the room - which raised an eyebrow. However, we were there on weeknights and there was no music festival going on, so we didn't need them. The air conditioner setup leaves a very thin piece of metal to block noise from outside. Again, we didn't have a problem with that, but I can see how it could be bothersome during a festival etc. I would stay here again if I needed to stay downtown, but I think I prefer to not stay downtown again.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, good sound proofing of walls. Pool area is very nicely updated with many cabanas and chairs. Right across from Stubb's Ampitheater, so it's a perfect spot if you're in town for a concert there! This Holiday Inn Express is combined in the same building with Hotel Indigo, though this wasn't clear during booking. This made it very confusing for check-in because it appears that at one time, there were separate elevators and lobbies for each hotel, but now there is only one shared lobby and check-in desk which is in Hotel Indigo. Navigating from the poorly-labeled below-ground parking lot difficult. Parking lot also had an excessive number of valet spots, so returning late at night there almost wasn't space for us to park in the garage at all.

And couldn't get any sleep in the early morning because the staff were extremely loud..hollering down the hallway..steam cleaning the carpet..slamming doors..and every morning knocking on my door even though the no disturb sign was on the door. I go to austin to get solid sleep and enjoy the city but with all the noise not much sleep was happening.. Location This hotel has been abandoned. There are no signs in the locked foyer to tell you, but if another guest comes along who already has checked in and can get into the lobby, you’ll be able to enter and will notice eventually notice signs directing you down a hall, several hundred yards away, to a connected hotel. You have to get on an elevator and go down to a different floor to check in. The hotel stunk. There were homeless people sleeping in the lobby and teenagers were waiting for a guest to come in so they could tailgate into the lobby, and take beer and other alcohol to the pool where no one was paying attention to whether or not they were actually guests. A neighboring hotel acquired this hotel in January of 2026 and they clearly have neglected the Holiday Inn Express side. The two hotels are connected, but the Holiday Inn side is dirty, in disrepair, and the staff are far less helpful to the Holiday Inn guests than they are to their connecting hotel. They shouldn't even be renting these rooms. The tub didn't work. The couch had stains. When I asked for a new room, they said they'd send maintenance right away for the tub, but didn't answer me on being given another room. I was up late waiting for the tub repair person so I could take a shower. The phone to the front desk wasn't connected, so I had to walk all the way back to the other hotel to talk to anyone at the front desk. Their automated texting service texted me to ask how my stay was and how check-in was. I responded with my complaints and asked if there was another room I could stay in. No response at all. This may have been an ok hotel at one point in time, but not anymore. Don't stay here, there are much better options nearby. Based on the way I was treated by the staff, I also don't recommend staying at the neighboring hotel, Hotel Indigo, on the other side of the block. If they are operating both hotels, they should be treating their guests equally.

The room was fine. The problem is that Holiday Inn and Indigo are in the same building and seem to be joining together. Had to go to the Indigo registration desk to register for Holiday Inn. Had to use separate elevators. It was all very confusing and resulted in a lot of walking. The best part of the stay was the sales mgr, Brenda, who took the time to lead us to correct elevators and explain how to use the key card in the elevator. We won’t be staying there again. Maybe they will eventually get it all streamlined. They do need to warn to check in at Indigo on websites.

That would have been nice. Continental Breakfast was your usual breads, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, yogurt, cereals, juices, fruit, etc. Hotel is at a good location and walkable to many downtown restaurants. Pool looked nice, just didn't have time to indulge. Would stay there again. Just hate to pay big bucks for parking. I liked the safety, you have to have a room key in order to go up to rooms in the elevator. There is a security pad inside every elevator where you have to scan your key in order to get to your rooms.

The room was large, comfortable and clean. The cost of car parking was better than most other Downtown hotels. There is no safe in the room for keeping personal documents and cash. Most hotels at this level provide a secure safe in the room. While the cleaning is generally good, on a number of occasions during my eight day stay I asked a cleaner for something, and not a single one spoke any English at all. My main dislike is the breakfast is served with disposable polystyrene dishes, plates, plastic cutlery and cardboard coffee cups. This ruins the breakfast experience for me, and for a hotel at this level or is poor. I have stayed at the hotel for two consecutive holidays (2025 and 2026), but I am now looking for somewhere else for my next stay as breakfast is important to me.

How close it was to the venue we were visiting. Cleanliness was great. Staff was helpful when my husband was having difficulty getting a parking pass. When u first made the reservation i noted that there would be 4 ppl staying in total. Two on the kind bed and two sleeping n the pull out. All that was supplied was one the fitted sheet and a flat sheet. No extra blankets, no pillows for the fold out. When we requested extra blankets the front desk lady said she was busy and wasnt able to check if she had any extra linens.

The 2nd room smelled better, but the shower had terrible water pressure. The bathroom sink had too much pressure & leaked and the toilet seat wasn't attached. It was the small things that added up. There wasn't a USB cable connection in the room for charging my phone, so I bought a plug-in block. Ear plugs came with the room because of the university district party crowd. The chaise lounge was hard, but the beds were cozy and clean. Again, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and had a frustrating experience. The check-in process is extremely inconvenient. There is no check-in at the hotel—you must walk about a block to the Hotel Indigo, then return. This was never communicated, making arrival stressful. The Indigo entrance is also very busy, with no easy place to stop. The hotel advertises a heated outdoor pool, but it was not heated at all during my three-day stay. The water was freezing. In Room 240, the shower took a long time to get hot, and the controls were reversed. This was confusing for my 7-year-old, who initially thought there was no hot water and was left freezing. The front desk offered two drink vouchers, which I did not use. This did not feel like adequate compensation. Positives: good location, convenient parking, and decent breakfast. The room was acceptable. I am attaching pictures so future guests know what to expect. This is the review I wish I had read before booking, as others do not mention these issues. Overall, poor communication and misleading amenities made this stay disappointing.

As mentioned, the daily buffet breakfast was one of the highlights of this property. Special kudos goes to Nicolasa and Ana from the breakfast staff for their excellent work. It is so rare that you can find thin bacon that is not entirely over cooked and they both kept the food stocked despite busy and aggressive crowds. Another dissapointing swimming pool. I suppose they don't want to heat it sufficiently so as to prevent algae build up, but it is not comfortable to swim in. Additionally, they closed the hotel's front desk on Neches Street and combined it with Hotel Indigo's front desk which faces Red River Street. It is confusing upon arrival and the walk to your room can be quite lengthy. Our room was the farthest away from the front desk as any. Fortunately, we like to walk. If we were much older or handicapped, it would not be ideal. The room was good, fresh brewed hot coffee and hot water 7/24, friendly staff, and a great location make this hotel a good choice.

The check-in process was the worst I have ever experienced. This Holiday Inn Express does not have its own front desk. We had to drive to another hotel that is connected with Holiday Inn for the check in and then drive back to the hotel to drop our luggage. The self-parking cost was way too high, $49 after including all fee. Staff was helpful and breakfast was pretty good. It appears to me that the manager of the hotel has made some big mistakes, e.g., removing its front desk and outsource parking to a 3rd party. Unless these issues would be addressed, I would not stay in this hotel again in the future.

From the time we arrived, it was an uncomfortable stay. I was on a trip to Austin with my friend and we were looking for an affordable hotel stay in the downtown area. The location is okay, and close to a lot of bars, but the homeless in the area is highly noticeable. We didn’t have any issues with them, but there were certain situations where we felt it’s not as walkable around the hotel, especially with younger children. When we arrived to the hotel, the lobby was empty with lots of signage asking us to walk to the other side of the building to check in. We realized once we followed the signs that the hotel we booked must have been purchased by another hotel and that other hotel, Hotel Indigo, is now managing both hotels. The check-in process went fine. That night, one of us had clogged our room’s toilet and called down to get a plunger sent up to our room. We were told that we’d have to wait until 7 AM for one even though it was midnight. My friend went to someone he found working in the halls and they said they could come take care of the toilet for us. One of the nights of our stay, I ended up having a very scary situation happen. I used to sleep walk as a kid, but hadn’t for about twenty years. I guess due to the lack of sleep and excitement, I had left our room, and began walking up the stairs to the top floor. When I woke up, and realized what was happening, I went to the elevator to go back down to the second floor to go back to my room. The elevator locked me inside

Checking in is confusing as they’re merging with another hotel in the same building so there’s different entrances, elevators, keys, etc. it seems as though the only AC that works is IN the rooms. Walking to your room or even trying to eat breakfast (which was pretty good) is like sitting in a sauna. Seems to be a long term problem because there has two fans semi-permanently mounted to tables. Staff was friendly but the maze of halls and elevators and the need to use your key card 3 times to get from outside to your room Makes this hotel a no-go for me in the future.

The room was clean. The location was not great. Homeless shelter down the street. Many homeless living in the corner across from hotel. View from room was of that corner. Room was acceptable. There was no staff at the front desk. Guests had to check in at the adjacent Hotel Indigo and then take a long walk to the Holiday Inn Express. Someone at IHG corporate must have thought that money could be saved by doing away with a front desk at the Holiday Inn Express. Penny wise and pound foolish. The abandoned lobby at the Holiday Inn Express felt inhospitable at night, if not creepy. Is that the look that IHG wants? The check in process was extremely inconvenient. I also observed plenty of other guests being irritated by having to 1) get through the hotel doors AND THEN having to follow signs and then walk a long distance to get to another hotel’s check in desk entirely (from Holiday Inn Express all the way to Hotel Indigo) AND then all the way back to the guest elevators to get to the room. This was a negative first impression and very tiring for people who just wanted to settle in a rest. Also, house keeping asked us to leave the room so they could clean it. This was all challenging for two adults who are disabled. Also they had no water available in the Holiday Inn lobby except for the first day of our 3 day stay. Many other people were also confused and justifiably annoyed with all of these inconveniences.

I didn't know until the day before our stay that we would have to pay 40 dollars a day for parking and when I got there they said that the parking was 50. Showed them the email that I got that says 40. The lady at the front desk was nice and charged me 40 instead. I think if your already paying for a room you shouldn't have to pay that much or at all to park in their parking garage, but other than that it was fine.

The room was fine for the price and location, but the front desk was closed, which was EXTREMELY inconvenient for someone traveling with 3 heavy bags, as I had to walk about a half a block to check in at the other hotel. The reason I chose to checkout after 1 night is the treadmills don't work, and 6 days would have been to long of a stay with no cardio. The Bellman was friendly, and reached out to another hotel to allow me to use their gym, but this was way too inconvenient, considering the length of the stay. The hotel provided me with a free dinner coupon for the inconvenience. But their are TOO MANY inconveniences here to make this a choice for someone coming half way across the country.

This hotel feels like an extension of another property, which made our arrival confusing. The signage wasn’t clear about where to check in, and there was no visible staff to assist, so we were initially lost. That said, the cleanliness of the property suggests it is well maintained. The parking garage was horrible. Expedia and the hotel states $35/night which is overpriced to begin with but when parking the car and scanning the QR code as instructed I was going to be charged over $49. The hotel adjusted the price for parking but it was still an inconvenience. The parking garage is under the building so you enter by driving up to a closed overhead door with a tiny parking sign (had to circle the block twice then call the lobby to find it). The garage itself is so tight and compact,, thankfully no other vehicles were going the other direction or wlsomeone would have had to back up. Ended up having to park on floor -4 or below wince the higher ones are for valet. The elevator from the parking garage to the lobby is very slow. Parking in downtown Austin iis bad enough but I would never return or recommend staying at this hotel if you plan to park on site. Find somewhere else to park if staying here, you have been warned!

The restroom door wouldn’t shut, the tub was dirty and the beds were not soft. For the price I paid the hotel didn’t even come close to the price. That hotel should be a $189 max a night for what you get. We are a military family and paying $340 for one night for that is just crazy! I would not recommend or stay here again.

The room was clean, but I was there for five nights and wanted housekeeping mid-stay to get new towels. Usually on longer stays I hang the "do not disturb" sign because I don't need housekeeping daily, but then take it down if I'd like my room cleaned mid-stay. Housekeeping did not come to my room at any point during my stay, regardless of the sign. Additionally, one of the two elevators was out of service and remained so for the duration of my stay. Finally, the hotel wi-fi was unreliable and stopped working entirely at one point as I was working online. This was a problem as I was working remotely and had to leave to find a coffee shop with working wi-fi. Generally, I enjoy my stays at this chain, the beds are always comfortable and haven't had issues like this at any locations in the past. All of that plus $45/day to park and the value felt extremely lacking.

Our room was ok too. Clean but noone came to clean it once or replace the towels once. I did that myself. The lady was great but again I had to take all the towels to her at the housekeeping and get fresh ones. There was a decent size pool as well at the hotel and a gym. The hotel is located beside two homeless shelters. There were people everywhere near the hotel strang out on drugs, walking zombies, and sleeping on the side walks, in the alleys, on door steps or bus stops. Not a great picture. While walking around we saw one on the sidewalk masturbating in brought day light. There is the Austin police HQ there too across the street, a.d lots of police presence everywhere. We felt safe.

This hotel has pluses and minuses. The staff and breakfast are top notch. The rooms are comfortable enough, but no soundproofing. I was awakened several times per night. The last night there was a big concert outside my window, so the night desk person was kind enough to move me. That room had a broken a/c, but was quiet at least. The hot water in the shower is non existent. The neighborhood is close enough to walk to 6th Street, the Rainey district, etc. but there is a large homeless shelter one block away, which can be off putting. But love the staff and breakfast!

I would like to suggest that when a customer books a room in the downtown Austin, hotel, you give them a code to get in the parking garage at that time. Then once in the garage, the signs for instructions to get to the Holiday Inn desk, needs to be better instructions to lead you there. Like hit -1* on the elevator. And when the desk person checks you in, tell the customer that you use your room key inside the elevator to get to your floor. The riom was nice.

The front desk staff, aside from one woman, were not helpful with most things as most of them didn’t know the answers to our questions and always referred to having to ask their manager who never seemed to be on site. We had 3 instances where service from front desk staff was very, very poor resulting in my having to email the manager about our experience. Hotel was clean and walkable to many things. The pool was nice, I was able to enjoy it the morning of my check out since check out wasn’t until 2pm. I wish that when the bar/food is closed they had some small options in the grab and go like cold sandwiches or hard seltzers, there wasn’t any option besides basic vending machine items. Room was clean, blackout curtains wonderful. The only issue I had in the room is that my mini fridge didn’t get cold and I had brought back some food so I just ended up tossing it. Very clean and modern hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, definitely among the best free breakfasts I've had - stuff like cheese omelettes, biscuits and gravy, fresh chocolate milk, stuff like that. The A/C worked very well, which is a must for Austin in the summer -- got our room downright cold even. Wi-fi worked and was easy to connect to. Neighborhood was central to the things we wanted to do. Only negative thing I could say is that there's a homeless problem in the area that manifests itself after dark. One guy in particular was laying on top of a trash can and shouting a lot. But can't really fault the hotel for that. Just sorta is what it is in an urban downtown area.
