I was promised a refund by the manager but have not been able to get any refund. Horrible place

Location is importance for the occasion

We booked the California Inn in Anaheim through Hotels.com and it was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. We arrived at night to find drug dealers in the parking lot, people yelling near the adjacent liquor store, and homeless individuals going in and out of rooms. It felt completely unsafe, especially with our children with us. The room itself was just as bad — it reeked of urine and bleach, had visible stains on the headboard, and cigarette debris scattered around. We didn’t even unpack; we went straight to the front office and left. The man at the front desk told us he’d issue a refund but that we needed to go through Hotels.com to process it. Since then, we’ve called the hotel over 100 times with no answer, and Hotels.com won’t refund us without the name and title of the staff member who told us this — information we didn’t think to get because we assumed it would simply be handled. We paid full price for a room we never stayed in, at a property that felt more like a halfway house than a hotel. Do not book here, especially if you have family with you.

Beds were clean and comfortable.

I love the air conditioning here

Beautiful pictures, but totally weird and the room was super moldy

This was my worst travel experience by far. The room pictures are very deceptive. Linens and towels were discolored and stained. Bugs in the bathroom and a leaking toilet. Left my room to go explore the area put the “do not disturb” sign on the door, when I returned after a few hours someone had broken into my room and stole a few things. Do not go here absolutely terrible.

Not my first stay at the California Inn, which location (relatively close to the Disneyland parks) and previous experience encouraged my recent stay. Starting off with the check in process. You would think level of security would feel nice; however, upon checking in I was greeted by a slightly disheveled looking worker. He asked for my name for my reservation. Upon giving my first name he printed out a key which was covered in grime. No checking of any ID, no credit card, just a name a boom access granted. The thought in the back of my head was hmm, maybe leaving valuables inside of my room is a bad call. Check in is done. Parking is fairly tight but open and easy to navigate. Clutter is everywhere with some “extended stay” guests having bikes and property strewn across the sidewalks. Entering the room shows the decline in this place. The first thing you notice is the strong odor of stale moldy air. If you were tired from your long travels into town you’re awake now just in time for the fun. The floors are grimly, the furniture is stained and sticky. The linens and towels are stained and covered in previous guests hair that make you wonder if they were indeed changed. The decorative pillows on the bed had the stitching bursting at the seems. No ice machine available and the AC had a strong smell of urine emitting from the vent. Woken up mid morning by multiple knocks at my door with the maid trying to enter my room.

We stayed two nights. Very first thing we saw when we walked in our room was a roach running across the floor. The bathroom door latch was broken and it opens on its own without being latched, so we had to prop it closed with a bag if we wanted privacy. On the first morning, we walked out to find someone’s car being broken into. The passenger window was shattered. The next morning we were woken up by the people above us stomping for over an hour (it felt like they were working out or jumping it was so loud). Then the people next to us were in a screaming match cursing at each other. Unfortunately after this last experience, I told my husband I don’t think I would come back.

Not very clean, shower is horrible
-
Their Shower is so poorly designed . Whole floor will get soaking wet no matter what when you take showers. Doors look super worn . Only good takeaway is that they have a designated smoking area and a mini market a few steps away for your last minute snack pickups
-
It was located behind a liquor store, weird, unsafe location, drunk people outside. Did not at all feel safe to stay here
-
Dirty bathroom. I checked out 2 minutes after I checked in.
-
black stuff all over the bed, bathroom has no toilet paper, shower water was getting all over the floor, environment outside made us feel unsafe. i would like a refund.

Rooms were clean and updated . Beds beyond comfortable, great location , super close to Disneyland. Will be back for sure !
-
Rooms need painting inside or walls wipe down clean.also a smell in the rooms I bought a candle to burn.
-
Walked in and there were dead cockroaches on the ground. The room was not clean, and there were burn marks on the night stand.

The room was in the back next to the laundry room and felt like a dungeon and very noisy when the laundry machines were going. The blinds were broken and had no way to open them. Extremely dirty and not well maintained at all! There was writing all over the walls and looked like the sheets and bedding weren’t changed. One of the worst motels I’ve ever stayed at. Price was cheap and that was the only good thing. Not sure why there was a 4.5 star review. The website made it out to be something much different than it actually was. No shuttle to the Disney park. Parking is very tight. Bathroom lightning was broken. The maintenance man tried to repair, and had no success. Felt like I was in the ghetto also. Not a good part of town!! Buyer beware!!

Average accommodations. Older complex. Outdated but adequate. Bathroom had a sliding barn-door type closure that didn't lock or sound/air insulate from the rest of the room. It was also frayed at the bottom and leaving debris from raking across the metal guide on the floor. Shower also had just a single glass panel that only covered half the stall. Significant water splatter onto the bathroom floor; fall risk. Seashell type accent pillow was a nice idea for the bed, but I doubt if those pillow covers ever get cleaned like the main pillow cases. Air conditioner worked but was noisy all night.
