The best about Corte Mercurio is its owner Caterina! She is a lovely host. I arrived mid afternoon when Ugento is dead quiet and all shops and bars are closed. Desperate for a coffee she invited me to have one with her. She obviously understands her guest's needs ;-) The room is bright, modern, spacious, very comfortable and very clean. In the morning Caterina serves a tailor made breakfast, which was very good. Ugento is not the most lively town in Salento, but it is a great base for a seaside vacation and for exploring the region. I highly recommend staying at Corte Mercurio.
