We had booked the Castello so that we could use it as a base for exploring the south of Puglia. It is in the heart of Ugento which itself isn’t particularly interesting. The staff ambiance and good food at the Castello made up for that . Everyone was friendly efficient and helpful . We ended up eating dinner twice at the Castello and it was delicious. It is served in a fascinating old room.The reception staff were particularly helpful with suggestions for the area too . Our room was modern comfortable and spacious and there’s also a lovely outdoor courtyard and indoor sitting area . The rooms are off the courtyard so that they can be equipped to a modern standard . The main part of the castle is a protected building.

The room we stayed in was lovely. It was split across 2 floors and in one of the oldest parts of the castle. The staff were all very thoughtful and showed their personalities. The food was excellent, both for Breakfast and for dinner.

Fantastic food, brilliant private dinner Really strict security guy, I was wondering the grounds and didnt know I was a guest, kept asking me and following. Made us come to reception whilst relaxing in the garden to pay something.

It was a stunning property, restored with an incredible attention to detail, with all the modern comforts while still preserving the original aesthetic. Our room was palatial and super luxurious. the staff was exceptional, helping with every request no matter how difficult. Special thanks for Roberta who made our stay perfect. Nothing. Just our air conditioned was not working which was a bit frustrating.

When I arrived, the concierge welcomed me with fresh water (they make their own water onsite!) and explained how this castle is known for its incredible kitchens! So I immediately asked to organize a tour of the property which we did the following day and I was certainly not disappointed. The kitchens are out of this world. No wonder they are known not just for their beautiful property, but also for their cooking classes. And their restaurant, il Tempo Nuovo, a culinary heaven. Out of this world. Can't wait to be back! The signage and street parking. I think they could do something about that. Maybe not something they have much control over, but it doesn't reflect the quality that i then found once i walked through the castle's gates. And for the signage, not enough street signs to indicate how to get there.
