Very friendly staff, great breakfast included, well maintained and aesthetic accommodation
-
Amazing staff Everything, from the entrance to the “room”, dragging out luggage, concrete (really) couch, uneven stairs, wiggly “desk”, the bathroom sink covered by a mirror, sticking out nail heads on the floor, extremely slow internet to start with. The place looked unmaintained for 100 years.

The staff were soo amazing! Very kind and friendly and accommodating. I loved hanging out in the pool area and being close walking distance into the city. My own little space in the Love Shack was cozy and the AC was very much appreciated. The welcome drink and check out gift were a nice touch! And the food omggg I had breakfast included and it was so delicious! I wish there was walking room around the bed or somewhere to put all my clothes with easy access but I made due. And I wish the place was actually quiet like some reviews said but honestly everywhere I’ve been in Bali has had short windows of quiet whether it’s loud creatures in the country or city noise so I guess it’s just a part of the experience.

Everything was perfect. Everyone was super kind. Location is just perfect. When i visit Ubud again it’s gonna be my first option all the time

Location was good. Breakfast was tasty The room was damp and made all my clothes linger with a musty smell. Everytime you touched your stuff against the wall, a chalky substance rubbed onto it. A lot of stuff there is broken and doesn't get fixed, e.g shower holder, doors that you have to lift to close. Also was served raw chicken so wouldn't recommend eating dinner if you want to avoid Bali belly (some people came down with this at the Onion). They take a while to give you the food so not sure why it wasn't properly cooked. They really need to do some maintenance work and ensure staff cook food right through. Also mosquitoes there are terrible and no preventative measures are taken e.g coils. A shame really as could be a nice spot. Staff however are very sweet. Honest review only no bad vibes.

Onion's service staff Melany was really excellent and her service attitude was impeccable. She serves with her heart. Onion's location couldn't be more convenient with great restaurants all around . The room was clean , peaceful and calming . Very comfortable love the bathtub !! Didn't particularly like the pebble effect wall in the room cos I have a bit of trypophobia and makes me feel uncomfortable. . I prefer clean flattened walls. The paint job in the room was peeling and could certainly do with a bit of freshening up .

One of my top places to stay in Bali. Unique, friendly and so convenient.

Such a lovely friendly and welcoming team - if you are solo travelling they make you feel so at ease and couldn't have been more kind helpful. Room was perfect and peaceful despite the busy streets of Ubud centre and can be cleaned daily upon request. Also great communication when I was messaging prior to my trip to check details and check in times etc - will be back for certain! NOTHING :)

The King Room (aka Cloud Room) was lovely and airy, with a nice big table in it that two of us could work or eat at very comfortably. Location was great and staff were very sweet. Although we had aircon it didn’t get very cold in the room. Restaurant/bar onsite was nice to have but drinks were quite expensive compared to neighbouring places so we didn’t stay there for the evenings, nor did many other guests.

We spent 5 days here as a family of three. We contacted the staff prior to staying here to check if we could take a room as a couple with a young daughter as the occupancy of each room is set at 2 max. They were more than happy to accommodate us. We were welcomed with a lovely blessing which was a cute touch to relax you into Ubud life! We took the bungalow which was cosy, with a large bathroom with lots of storage for clothes, a small kitchen and table and chairs. All the rooms are decorated uniquely and the place has a real quirky vibe about it. The rooms are clean but I would recommend the manager thinks about deep cleaning the mosquito nets regularly, the one above our bed was covered in bugs on the top, bit apart from that everything was really clean. It is in a really good location just off one of the main streets but really quiet at night. There are lots of local restaurants on the same street and somewhere on the corner that does same day laundry. There is also a pool in the centre of the place which our daughter loved. All the staff are really lovely and friendly, creating a really family vibe about it. I don’t know if some staff were new as sometimes they didn’t know answers to somethings ie the website advertises they know a short cut to yoga barn but no one knew this. It was no biggie I found it ok but worth making sure staff are aware, as we booked this place to be close to the yoga barn specifically. The breakfast menu has lots of options and we liked not having to be up at the crack of dawn to catch the service! The only let down for us was that it advertises itself as a co working space, and whilst there are plenty of places to work, the WiFi was pretty terrible unless in the restaurant, which isn’t great for making calls or working in the evenings when our daughter was in bed, we hoped to work from the kitchen table. Again no biggie but worth considering if this is your main consideration for your stay. If we were just on holiday it would have been the perfect base for Ubud and we would absolutely return as it was great value for money!

Breakfast was amazing. Location was excellent. Staff was very nice. Room was cozy. The shared toilet / shower was not very clean. I saw many bugs in the shower everyday. I understand it’s the rainy season, but I don’t think the staff tried to get rid of bugs at all

Location The rooms are very old and don’t feel great in real. The towels given to us very smelly too. There are bugs everywhere and The toilet door would make a loud sound when open or closed. They even sprayed commercial mosquito killer at 6am outside which made the whole room smoky and stuffy. Me and my partner couldn’t stay inside as it was dangerous and poisonous.

Incredible free breakfast (with lattes included!). Yummy alcoholic drinks also. Staff is SO KIND and wonderful. Felt like family during my time there. Always so welcoming and helpful. Great musicians every night! I stayed in the cottage. I am sensitive to bugs/animals, and I found the cottage to be full of them - I used the mosquito net 100% each night in December. It definitely has an outdoorsy feeling and I heard the lizard sounds and maybe other animal sounds in the roof/ceiling each night. This made it less comfortable and felt more like camping, with the net as my tent. (Take this with a grain of salt, very sensitive to bugs) I also found this room to be too dark for my personal taste, even though it has windows that can be opened. Other things that threw off the experience: when I first arrived, the sheets were not very clean and I asked them to change the sheets and they did so very quickly. The noise from the nightly music never bothered me. I thought it was great to come home to! But the walls are thin and you can hear other animals outside (very loud frog in the pond after rain!) but that’s just part of the nature experience :)

the staff were amazing. always so friendly, always smiling, always wanting to help. the room is great value for money. double bed, great working air con. close to the monkey forest, lots of amazing restaurants in the area. beautiful yoga studio right across the road. beautiful pool area. If you want to make your own breakfasts the kitchen is a bit grim. It does not have many utensils or pots/pans and doesn't have new or clean sponges etc. I burnt myself a few times by using what I could. the main centre is a 30 mins walk which is not an issue the location is awesome but just to be aware of.
