Pertiwi Bisma 1

I think this place is a great compromise between two opposing desires: being in walking distance to all the action on the main streets of Ubud, yet stay in a quiet oasis. Location: It’s one street off the really busy street, but still has plenty of restaurants and shops. Within 3 minutes there’s a Circle K; ABC drop off laundry service; several massage places; a local restaurant Warung Ning; an upscale restaurant, Pistachio, overlooking the rice fields, etc. Cars and motorbikes can access the driveway and for easy transport pick-up drop-off. Secluded Quietness: the property is tucked away behind a rice field, and the lodging backs up deep into the jungle, overlooking the river valley below, so it’s very serene and quiet. A nice oasis from the craziness of central Ubud. The Pools: there are 2 pools and both are super relaxing. The lower pool is an infinity pool that looks over the forest and the river below with a waterfall. We were visited by a family of monkeys while we chilled with our margaritas. Cleanliness: someone was always cleaning and tidying up the property, whether it be sweeping the floors, or polishing furniture, or pruning foliage. The rooms are very clean and the daily service was thorough and fast. Spotless each time, and changed out all the linens! Staff: how is everyone so friendly and kind and welcoming all the time? Also, special shoutout to the staff who walked our many margaritas from the main restaurant all the way down 100+ steps to the lower pool without spilling a drop! We noticed (1) some minor wear and tear in our room (e.g. old TV—who cares); (2) some maintenance issues (the air-con works great! But it leaks condensation on to the floor making it very slippery; gaps between doors and framing let some cigarette smoke odors from the outside into the room). (3) the main design flaw is the tub/shower area. Getting in and out of the tub/shower is TREACHEROUS and completely unsuitable for anyone with mobility or balance issues. The tile floor itself is extremely slippery when wet. There are no grab bars or anti-slip mats. The shower curtain also does not go past the edge of the tub so water spills out onto the floor, exacerbating the issue (Dear Pertiwi-this can be easily remedied with a longer curtain or lowering the curtain rod!). You gotta climb over the high edge of the tub to get in and out of the shower. All to say, my husband—who has no mobility issues—slipped and nearly hit his head on edge of the vanity counter. He sported a couple large bruises on his legs for a week. Seeing the other prior reviews regarding the way the tub is built in, I doubt much can change, so fair warning.

2 Lovely pools. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Reachable directly over whats up. great room view. Big room with refrigerator. Huge mattress. Needs renovation. Very old and used mattress. Better cleaning - not just superficial. Bathroom roof gets water in when it rains. Dont put the dirty pillows over the clean ones. Provide different sizes of pillows. More power outlets to use devices. Have the working desk inside the room and not the bathroom. Breakfast quality needs improvement. More water bottles in the room.

The location was great, you can walk to many great restaurants and even the Monkey Forest. Set in a jungle like environment, the pools were tranquil and staff were very accommodating and friendly.

Beautiful property and friendly staff!

Really great location, very nice pool and friendly staff We paid a little extra for a room with river view wich was a mistake. The room was very far from the reception, and in the room there was no wifi connection, nor even phone connection so if your laying in bed you could not access the internet which for the price point is not okay. Next to that the ventilation in the room was very poor leading to it being extremely humid and quickly and smelly if you left wet towels in the bathroom to dry

The pool in the view Air conditioner didn’t work, the maid stole my brand new Apple Watch and the property claimed they couldn’t find it, there was black mold in the bathroom, the shower flooded everywhere because it was not properly installed, I requested a double bed and I got two single twins. I left a day early because the heat was intolerable.

Friendly staff Villa needs renovation

The pool and location. I was extremely disappointed in the staff member working on May 9th at 4am. We had arranged a taxi to the airport for this day and time the day before. Our taxi did not show up 15 minutes later. We asked the staff working for help if they could call and confirm with our taxi or if he had the number. He told us to wait. We waited in the lobby and watch more rides for tours come, pick up the guests and leave. I asked again for help 10 minutes later as our ride was now 25 minutes late and we had to go to the airport. He again was standing there smoking and wouldn’t help us. We eventually asked one of the drivers who came to the hotel to pick up guests for a tour if he knew anyone who could drive us to the airport. He helped us and called many people as he noted no one was awake at 4:30am. He actually had our ride arranged for us but he couldn’t come until 5am. It was such a stressful morning as we were leaving the country and the hotel was no help. Considering it was 4-5am no one was awake and none of the shops were open so it was a difficult task to manage on our own. Our original ride had never shown up and the staff member never offered to help in any way. It was a very stressful morning.

The location was great, quiet, and away from the traffic. Great room service. Staff were always kind and helpful. We asked for a twin room but ended up with a double room. Couldn't change until the following morning.. Breakfast portions were small and limited choice. They could have added more bacon. Also. maybe offer some beans or sausages. Need bigger glasses for the juice

We stayed in Ubud for 4 nights and would recommend this place to everyone. We arrived late on our first night in the middle of a rain storm and the staff were great at getting us to our rooms. After the first night we decided to upgrade to the wooden bungalows overlooking the lower pool as they are amazing. The staff were brilliant, the breakfast excellent and the location was spot on - close enough to the hustle and bustle but yet so quiet. We even did our own yoga session down by the pool. This place is also great for spotting wildlife. We saw monkeys by the pool, lizards in the grounds and frogs on the balcony. What a lovely place.

I am a solo traveler and this is my first time staying in Pertiwi Bisma 1, have stayed a few years back in Pertiwi Bisma 2. - Room: Room is definitely spacious and can fit a family of 3 or even 4, good private balcony. My room was nearby a fountain with garden view, the water sound is soothing. It is a green place, lots of trees, plants and birds chirping. - Property: Property and area is one the best and the primary reason I'm giving a rating of 7 and not lower. This is definitely an awesome property at the heart of Central Ubud along Bisma. The garden and pools are gorgeous and well-maintained (I see gardeners tend to the plants every morning). 1st pool has a garden view, second pool's view is the Ubud rainforest - both are infinity pools. It is a quiet property and encourages all guests to be quiet/keep noise to a minimum. - Lighting: Warm lighting and there are bedside lamps. - Refrigerator and air conditioner cools well. TV with cable but I'm not really a TV-user when on holiday. Wifi in the evening is intermittent - Location: Best location for me as this is center of downtown Ubud. Can just walk along Bisma and around the Jl Raya Ubud and Monkey Forest, nearby restos/cafes, spas along the major roads. It is a touristy and vibrant area, but within the property is peaceful and quiet. - Housekeeping/cleaning is everyday. Daily housekeeping is ideal, I suggest though staff pay attention to the details of the room and keeping surfaces and every corner clean and dusted. Cleanliness of the room - especially the bed and pillows. - Bed and pillows stressed me out. Pillows and sheets smells musty. I removed the pillow case and the pillow is stained, with yellow stains and mold spores. I had to change and use my own pillowcase. I have asked to replace the pillows, but all they did was change the pillowcase, or if they changed the pillows, all were stained and not fresh at all. - Bathroom - spacious bathroom, with bath tub and toilet has bidet. Had tub drain issue throughout my stay. They tried to fix on the first day but it recurred - slow drain. Floor tiles are stained. Bathroom needs deep-cleaning.
