Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the cleanliness, friendly staff, and convenient location, but expressing dissatisfaction with the parking situation and some minor issues in the rooms. The proximity to local attractions is a significant pro, while the lack of parking options and the cost of valet parking are frequent cons.
- Convenient location close to local attractions
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Limited parking options and high cost of valet parking
- Minor issues in rooms such as AC problems and noise

I had a wonderful stay. The amenities were all fully functioning and the staff was very helpful with any questions we may have had. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the parking situation. Valet was 36.00 a night, and there were no additional parking options provided
- 5/5
Overall nice hotel.
- 3/5
The room was pretty clean, but the A/C out in the halls of the hotel was never fully at a comfortable temperature. We had a little bit of an issue with our room not being tended to. We stay 4 days and only received 1 cleaning service and ran out of towels. Aside from that, the stay was nice. It was close enough to the riverwalk and other places.

Superb
- 5/5
I was walking distance from a lot of tourist places, good food and a lot of things to do even by myself. The best part is that finding it was a breeze and having a group of people that seemed like they cared. Parking, you have to pay for valet or street parking which ended up being cheaper. I didn't like the fact they didn't have a lot or some connections to a lot as an option.
- 5/5
The staff were very nice.

There are a lot of hotels in the downtown San Antonio area. Right next to the river walk and Alamo, both a 5 minute walk. For a smaller hotel (only 4 floors) it actually has a ton of amentities. Pool, laundry, gym, breakfast included. Room had everything I needed. Only thing missing that usually in hotel rooms was a safe. You can tell it’s a newer hotel. Nice lobby as well. Staff was there 24/7 and incredibly friendly and helpful

The lady at the desk is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Give her a raise or you will loose her. She is gifted with hospitality and service.

Although I did not take advantage of the amenities offered, the staff did make sure to let me know what what was available. The rooms were also well maintained and clean.
- 2/5
We thought this would be a safer area but nothings truly walkable, its a few blocks to get to anything. Also this is more about the crowd than the hotel but twice during our stay, 2 different people were over served and puking in the lobby and in front of the building. Also parking isn't attached to the building, its 2 blocks away so you have to valet and it takes about 15 minutes to get your car every time. We're not coming back

Loved the breakfast & that they served it past 9am with plenty of hot food. and large rooms. The building was unique & the it was lively. Walkable to the River Center Mall. Walkable to a lot of lively bars off the riverwalk. Very pricey valet parking at $50 per day, with not much other options unless you wanted to find street parking which almost impossible. The valet attendants were really nice though. The hotel was between 2 not so nice hotels

Room was clean but small. No drawers or closet. A bar to hang clothes on. Breakfast was good. Pool was nice. Lobby clean. Staff was friendly. Great location.

Requested house keeping but they never sent anyone. Breakfast options are not good. We booked this hotel because of Hilton name. I won't stay here in near or far future.

I like it but the same day we got there they broke my son truck window but they take day and the parking lot money off

They charge for parking and they didnt allow big vans park there. We had to pay the hotel in front to allow us to park in their area.

Great stay!
- 2/5
The staff was great.... however the room size was too small and having no parking available was a complete disappointment. I tip the valet people even though they was ways late bringing me my car

The amenities and how comfortable the beds were The complimentary breakfast needs work!

The complimentary breakfast needs work!
- 3/5
Ok for the price it wasn’t terrible, the breakfast was mediocre, not much of a variety, white bread or wheat bread fruit loops or Cheerios or raisin brand. The ROOMS were tiny , we had a huge pole in our room and it just felt very claustrophobic. THE BEDS were hard as a rock woke up like every other hour to roll over and adjust from discomfort. My head and neck are so stiff I can’t turn my head around to look back ! The restroom was decent sized and the clean and the water was hot ! The air conditioning worked so good though it was nice and cool in our room . Now PARKING is ridiculous there is not parking you have to pay for valet 40$ and they park your car like 3-4 blocks away with no cameras or security watching the vechicles over night . There is only 1 valet person so it will take a while to get your car because they have to walk over there and go get your car , but the valet drivers were all so super nice and friendly ! Now you can park your car under the bridge across the street which is public parking but there are so many homeless people I feel it’s unsafe, there are like 5 parking spots right in front of the hotel it’s free at night but during the day you pay like 3$ for the whole day but if you move your car you won’t get that spot again, we lucked out got the spot when someone left and then we never moved our car , therefor we didn’t go and do much this visit we walked downtown and called uber ! Spend a little more and get parking with your hotel somewhere else!

Would never book this place again! We made a reservation for 3 days here and had a medical emergency with my daughter and place not only would not refund our money they lady we talked to kept hanging up on us cause she was mad. I'd call right back asking to speak to a manager she'd hang right back up on me. Still never received a refund

Everything was just perfect!

Overall a good location for us as it was walkable to the River Walk and a 10 min drive to the Frost Center for a concert (we were just staying the 1 night). We parked in a SA city parking lot right next to the hotel (1 min or less walk) which was very affordable (did not use the hotel valet parking which was $35). However, the cleanliness of our hotel room was very questionable. Upon arriving, there were short dark hairs in the bathroom (on the bathroom counter, in the shower) and the top decorative sheet on the bed had make-up on it (making me think that they don't clean the decorative top sheet between guests). Overall, it was an OK stay; free breakfast and we felt safe in the area.

Rooms are decent. Free breakfast options are varied and tasty. Valet parking is expensive. There is a motel right across the street with free parking. Also, there is a person trying to pressure you into paying in advance for some Hilton package which you may or may not ever use. I am on vacation and don't care to listen to one of your employees trying to shill even more money out of me. I would stay somewhere else on my next visit.

Doable. Not as nice as other Tru by Hilton properties that I stayed at. They over booked and did not have the 2 queen beds we needed. We ended up having to make do with a king size room. The pool area furniture had bird poop all over it. Honesty disappointing.
- 2.5/5
Staff was helpful and nice. Location was good within walking distance to the Alamo and the riverwalk without the noise of it. Property has aged greatly since the pictures were taken. Rooms were small and crowded with furniture. The walls are paper thin. Could hear the other rooms conversations and other activities very clearly. Actually had to ask for a room change because our child could hear too. Breakfast was very minimal the 4 days we were there. Pool area didn’t have enough lounge chairs and the cushioned couches were full of debris.

Great breakfast, wonderful staff — perfect for a family getaway.
- 3/5
The hotel was clean (but very thin walls, hear every conversation in next room), staff was polite, and good location to walk to the Riverwalk but the parking makes it a NO if you are driving! Zero parking at hotel, valet only for $40 extra a night and only one valet worker for a booked hotel was a nightmare!!!
- 2/5
Rooms were not cleaned, no housekeeping for the days we stayed (2 nights), trash wasn’t picked up, toilet wasn’t cleaned. The whole hotel did not smell good at all. Only good thing was front desk person Aaliyah, she was very pleasant, friendly, and caring.
- 2/5
This place should not really be able to claim Riverwalk. Sure it's close enough if you want to walk 5 blocks to get to the Riverwalk. It looked terrible from the outside, and the only parking available was Valet being parked blocks away or a lot across the street at $100/day. I couldn't get a refund, but we didn't stay here and ended up at a hotel closer to where we wanted to be.

Super nice staff. Shower door was broken so we had to deal with water leaking. Other than that close to the Almo and 5 min walk to the riverwalk

Room was great. There was no hotel parking and had to pay extra for Vallet parking. When I asked the check in guy about why no hotel parking he was unconcerned and shrugged. Crime high enough that I did not feel safe in community lots that still charge about the same.

The mattress was TERRIBLE! Had a HUGE crater where an 800lb man slept in for the last century. They couldn’t get me another room because the hotel was booked, so I was stuck. On the plus side, the walk to the convention was easy, the walk to the Riverwalk was longer than I’d like but not bad, but the breakfast was great and the staff was friendly.

The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to San Antonio. Mercedes the front desk supervisor always had a smile on her face and was happy to help. Harley and Aaliyah were also awesome! Kudos to having a great staff. There were others I interacted with but I didn't get their names. Great Staff!!

the location was nice and the room was very clean. the parking situation was kinda rough. having to valet and request your car enough in advance to be able to leave by the time you needed to was really frustrating. the valet workers did their best but having only a couple people for a whole hotel worth and the parking obviously pretty far away for them to run to made it really hard to leave when you wanted to. also the elevators weren’t very steady and would jump up and down or get stuck for a minute pretty often.

This is my 2nd time staying. The 1st time was amazing. This 2nd time was subpar. The valet took forever in taking my vehicle and there were several other guests waiting for their requested vehicle. The valet people were neither rude nor polite but rather indifferent and annoyed about being there. It's been 2 business days since I checked out and I still haven't received my $100 security deposit in which we weren't advised prior to our stay that it was needed. Also, paying the security deposit in cash wasn't an option either. Which is extremely inconvenient since I am always concerned about the security deposits not being reimbursed via debit/credit cards. The sign-in for the "free" wifi is extremely inconvenient and honestly unnecessary. Lastly, considering the price of the stay, one would think there would be smart TVs in every room to be able to use streaming services like netflix, Hulu, HBO max, etc., but there isnt. Honestly I wouldn't say that third time is the charm, I will be staying at other locations. I'm still waiting for the security deposit. If I don't receive it, I will be taking action.

Third round, front desk gave us a third option room, guess where? THIRD FLOOR 3 door next to our friends room. They have two elevators, although their inspection was in nov. Of this year something was wrong. When you are about to get to the first floor it sound like their is a loose piece between elevator and wall... Overall cleaning was ok. Except the hairdryer looks like it was like sticky (dust and years). Parking: need to pay $3 weekdays and $5weekend. It usually price runs from 6am to mid night. Needs to wake up at 6am to extend time to the parking. The following is not a feedback it is just if you want to know...about BREAKFAST options: Egg, hard egg, sauge or bacon (one option different day) Yogurt, Waffles, cereal, and fruits, coffee, tea, and machine juices.

Love their ice machines and their water bottle refill station which saves us from having to bring water gallons and assures us ice cold water whenever we need it! We love the lobby with the board games and foosball area. One of the tables needs repairing, but the lobby is great! We love the local board with restaurants and local events and things to do! Wonderful! The staff has always been nice as well. I do prefer a little more professionalism and not vocalizing disapproval of other employees in front of guests, but everyone is still quite friendly! The rooms are nicely maintained, clean, and all are modern and have nice layouts. Fridge did not work this time, but we could have easily asked for assistance or a different one if it had been a big deal! Breakfast is also solid! Coffee is good, and it is a hot breakfast! Eggs are those fake ones so the consistency is a bit off, and the sausage had a thin casein on it I think, but I’ll take a free hot breakfast with waffles and coffee and lots of options for all eaters! Each time we’ve stayed (3X in 2025), it’s been great, and it is a super close/short walk to the mall and the Riverwalk. Definitely would recommend!

But the most offputting part was the area of downtown with no parking lot. I thought the hotel was going to be on the Riverwalk so that we could exit the hotel onto the Riverwalk itself. It’s a few blocks away. However, the area did not feel safe at all. The hotel offered pricey valet parking but the cars were parked on the other side of another hotel, out of view. I ended up doing street parking, which was very cheap, but I worried that my car was going to get broken into. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Everything was great. Valet could’ve been a bit more organized but other than the hotel it was perfect.

The entire hotel was nasty. Probably the worst I’ve ever saw. I was amazed how nasty the entire property was.

Property was great. Checking in and out was good. My only complaint is the scheme the vale parking employees have. Because there is no parking in in street in front to the property you have to either pay $33 for the valet parking or try to find street parking and pay. After 6pm the street across the hotel is free parking. We asked the valet parking employees where we could parked since the was no street parking. The employee said he could move his car that was parked on that side of the street (across from the hotel) for us. We were happy about that, but then he said “well I moved my car for you guys saving you the $33 valet so can you throw us some $?” So it’s clear that they parked there cars there to ask for money when ppl need a space. Keep in mind after you are paying hundreds of dollars staying there
- 5/5
I travel a lot of the time for work this is hands down one of the best staff ive met all year. I can not begin to say enough compliments
- 3/5
The staff was kind and valet was quick, there is free internet and breakfast every morning. It was tough to find bagels towards the end, but you could tell that breakfast was attended to so nothing major was lacking. Really my only issue is that this is a super old building that was not properly renovated before putting in new wallpaper. The mildew smell was a health concern.

Love the Tru!

2 football game table has no BALL My kids upset , vallet parking on hotels websites state $35 but charge total withdrawal my bank total $42 Thks L

Very nice hotel for the price. I would recommend.

The crew is very friendly and nice and the room was super clean and very close to the Ruverwalk
- 5/5
Really great room

They misrepresented all amenities, the place is almost under the bridge where there were a lot of homeless people in the area. THERE IS NOOOO PARKING only a $35 per night valet service. Stunk of marihuana outside and by the lobby. Shown as pet friendly but there was no let area and nowhere to walk around since it was a quite unsafe area to walk your dog outside in the middle of the night. The staff was not helpful or knowledgeable. Twice I was told I would get a call back and Im still waiting. Pleeeease DO NOT STAY HERE.
- 4/5
Food was good no complaints
- 5/5
The staff are fantastic!
- 3/5
If given the opportunity, I would not stay here again. The bed was hard, and very uncomfortable. I woke up with a sore neck and back. Upon check in, I discovered that parking is a nightmare. Either pay $35+ for valet or pay $5 for parking under the freeway, and risk getting your vehicle broken into. Loud street noises kept us up. Also be aware that they hold an extra $50 until you check on your card. The only thing that I enjoyed was the breakfast, and the rooms are cute.

For being part of the Hilton name, this hotel especially for the outside of the hotel didn’t live up to the Hilton name.
- 3/5
No shampoo pubic hairs in shower, door from shower didn't close..

No baby cribs on site. I selected this hotel over other options because it listed cribs available for use upon request. When I arrived I informed the front desk that I had requested a crib when booking, his first response was that there were no cribs onsite. I informed him I read they were available upon request and his only advice was for me to talk to my booking agent and offered no other alternatives. I booked a month ahead and didn’t travel with a baby crib for my toddler. No one reached out to me to let me know my request was not being delivered, not a call from Hotels nor TRU, I would have had time to look for other options had I been informed. False advertisement and poor customer service on both sides.
- 3/5
No instructions on how to use the tv No trash can in the bathroom
- 4/5
It was quiet and clean. Quiet like no disturbances. You can still hear other people in other rooms but it is an older building. The beds were not comfortable and I woke up with a sore back. Overall wasn’t bad. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Very clean, the room wasnt ready at check time of checkin. But the ataff was very nice and didnt take long to have a room available

However, when I arrived that evening, I was informed that my reservation had been canceled. Due to road closures and 4th of July fireworks traffic, we arrived later than expected. I was told there were no more double rooms available and was only offered a room with one king bed. When I asked for a room with a sofa bed to better accommodate my group, I was told the hotel was fully booked and nothing else was available. The staff claimed this kind of issue sometimes happens with third-party bookings. I explained that I always use third-party platforms for hotel reservations and have never had a problem like this before. They also said there were no notes in the system about my call earlier that day. I asked to speak with a manager. After some back and forth, a staff member offered to check with a partner hotel. Eventually, they arranged a room for us at a nearby Hilton Inn and said they would match the price. However, when checking in at the Hilton Inn, I had to pay approximately a $20 difference out of pocket. While I appreciated the effort to find us another room, the accommodations were smaller than expected, and the beds were uncomfortable.

The management was unhelpful and poorly organized. The hotel does not offer any parking, which was very inconvenient. To access the Wi-Fi, we were required to fill out a long form with personal details, which felt unnecessary and outdated. On top of that, the TVs were old-fashioned with no internet connectivity. Overall, it was a frustrating and uncomfortable stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- 5/5
The responsiveness and friendliness of staff to help to satisfy our needs was beyond the call of duty.It made us feel at home .I would definitely recommend this property to everyone.
- 5/5
Great property. Parking is a pain, just make sure you give plenty of time for the valet to get your car.
- 5/5
A little bit confusing on getting there with Google maps but the hotel itself was great. They only offer valet parking but they were available quickly. Enjoyed my short stay.
- 5/5
Every time we need a getaway we always go to San Antonio. Since finding Tru By Hilton, we will always stay here! It’s absolutely comfortable, very clean, best breakfast ans conveniently located. We highly recommend it!
- 1/5
Booked this place because it said parkimg available. I shouldnt have thought that meant a parking lot. We get there we are tired ans i ask wheres the parking lot at? She said oh that just means we have street parking if yall find something, if not we do valet for 35 a night. Considering it was late and we traveled into town so no parking available ln the street we winded up doing valet. Wouldve been nice for better description of parking.
- 4/5
Location was great, staff was great too, the only thing that I was upset about was the fact that on the website it was advertised that you could request a crib at hotel but when I asked the front desk they said that service wasn’t provided at that location then why advertise it?
- 4/5
Had roaches in the restroom. 35 dollars a night parking absurd.
- 3/5
No parking they charge extra $ for the parking
- 5/5
Pool area could use some maintenance . Spacious rooms where great.
- 1/5
There was no parking. Won’t ever stay there again
- 3/5
I don't like the location. It's along the main street and it's so noisy at night . This hotel is expensive but they don't have microwave in the room . It's good we only stayed there for 2 nights.
- 5/5
Great place to stay.
- 4/5
Close to the convention center. Staff is great.
- 3/5
the bathroom was "edgy". Not a very good job on the MAke over! OK For a place to sleep.
- 3/5
The hotel was clean, but it needs a lot of upgrades. In our room, we were unable to watch TV. I asked the front desk about it. She suggested something that didn’t work. The bathroom door didn’t close/lock. The shower door didn’t close. The room was noisy. I heard EVERYTHING outside that night. The hallway had a mildew smell. Valet was expensive and you were kind of forced to valet because the area looked unsafe. I wouldn’t stay again nor recommend.

Additionally, some of the staff were a bit standoffish during my stay. Someone even knocked on my door at 11:30am and ENTERED while I was in the room, though check out time was 12pm. Perhaps the worst part of my stay was discovering a live cockroach near my bed when I woke up! I typically don’t write reviews unless I feel others should know, so definitely proceed with caution when booking here. It’s cheap and close to tourist attractions, but you definitely get what you pay for!
- 5/5

the game area missing parts. The staff walk around doing whatever they wanted.

NO PARKING ON SITE! $35 valet fee + tip where they go park your vehicle at the La Quinta's parking lot.
- 1/5
It was a clean and reasonable price for my quick visit.
- 2/5
The hotel is nicely remodeled but housekeeping was lacking. The bathroom was not clean at all. There was hair in the shower, the floors and in the beds. We attempted to clean the room ourselves but it was just too much. They moved us to another room and that was no better. They either need new housekeeping staff or they need to be retrained. Just horrible

Weekend trip with girlfriend, noisy area and no parking but valet. Valet guy was hard to wake up when we got back to room from a night out.
- 5/5
I was very pleased with my stay
- 4/5
Nice modern interior design, rooms are good. Great breakfast. Only issue is parking. You have to park in pay parking lots that don't look safe for overnight parking and require you to cross busy streets.
- 5/5
Very nice place to stay. Room was comfortable and staff was very friendly.
- 1/5
I could not stay at the hotel because I had covid and the manager did not want to refund/cancel me the stay at the hotel. Horrible service
- 2/5
I don't recommend this hotel.

The front desk and vallet staff went above and beyond. They have a wonderful game room area in the lobby where my kids played foosball and board games. The rooms vary on size. The Riverwalk is walking distance from hotel.
- 4/5
Everything was great! The exceptions are the room is not cleaned daily and the facility doesn't have a parking lot.

They charge $35/day for parking and there are homeless everywhere. It’s dangerous. Forget sleeping if you get a room facing the pool. Breakfast is poor and doesn’t taste good.
- 3/5
Elevator did not work and no hotel parking lot other than that a very basic hotel
- 3/5
The elevator had a lot of problems and we were barely able to get on and then barely able to get off, the next morning, completely shut down only stairs to get back down to the lobby
- 2/5
upon arrival, this is in a very weird area. not giving the best vibes, and the pictures were slightly different. me and my boyfriend were trying to be a bit frugal on our stay but it’s definitely worth the extra $50 for something with parking on site at the least. on the website it states there is parking .25 miles from the hotel, they will not specify what they mean if you ask the front desk. they provide no helpful information, just avoid them honestly. they don’t care. here’s what you DO need to know for parking if you stay here. use street parking/aka meter parking over the valet 10000% it will be significantly cheaper (~.30/hr, we paid $3.00 for 8am-6pm which btw is the only time the meters run, and all day sunday and 6pm-8am the meters are not enforced so go crazy) just don’t forget to buy parking at 8am. we forgot this morning and by 8:45am we paid and hadn’t been towed. we used the meter parking literally on the other side of the street from the entrance (houston st) we stayed on the fourth floor, and the hallway (wood floor) is uneven and completely shifts/warps under your feet when you walk. it’s scary. our bathroom was out of toiletries. the elevator completely shakes and is terribly unstable during riding if you move at all. the tv has basic DTV cable, we opted for having amazon send us an hdmi cord so we could watch streaming services ov

Beautiful hotel great staff and valet

Restroom in the room was dirty, misinformed since I called they told me something and once I was there they changed their story and if I wanted to cancel I would loose my money. Toilet was dirty and there was a lit of hair on the floor. Disgusting
- 5/5
Everyone was amazing.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Elevators were sketchy and doors stuck on me twice. Room was clean. They gave us 3 bath towels for 2 people for 2 nights, seemed odd. Close to the Alamo and river walk.
- 5/5
Was happy with the room everything was walking distance and was safe area
