Best Western Plus Downtown North

Easy to check in and the room was huge! Very clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. But the elevator was out for 2 of the 3 days I was there, which was a challenge since my room was on the 5th floor.

Overall great experience …to the negative reviews ( be nice to staff and they will be nice to you ) …great breakfast and awesome freshly ground coffee !!

A pleasant stay for sure, very close to the event we were in town for. Sonic drinks right in front of the hotel, cant beat that. Only down side was the elevator broke and going up and down stairs with luggage and bad knees is not great. Other than that excellent place.

Met all requirements for my visit to San Antonio.

The elevator was not working. Later that evening a storm caused a power outage from 9:30pm to 3:30am. Pillows , bedding and mattress were lumpy and worn out. Sheets could have been clean but old and worn makes it feel cheap .

I was given the room in 5th floor and i had to use stair for all 5 floors to carry breakfast and luggages etc every day for almost 4-5 times(stayed for 2 days). While checking out, i carried suitcases from top floor. TV channels was no working inside the room. I used the cast only. It would be great if i can get any refund.

Everything was great but the elevator was out of service! I wish there was a warning online while booking. I’m 8 months pregnant so I struggled going up and down 3 flights of stairs!

- Was hoping to get an early check-in. When asked was told no rooms were available (only an hour until checkin). Did not even attempt to check the system & was adamant nothing is available until 3pm. - My room was supposed to be ADA in the bathroom. Only ADA was one bar by shower head. In was a high step-in tub, no shower head extension just from the wall & did not adjust, & no shower seat. Unfortunately, was not able to shower. Nice place but probably will never book there again due to questionable customer service & ADA rooms.

The front desk employee did not seem properly trained to handle a basic situation like this. She called the manager for guidance, but the manager appeared unsure of the hotel’s own policies and was openly questioning the procedure over the phone. The entire experience was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. In the end, I had no choice but to call and cancel the reservation because the hotel refused to honor a reservation that had already been confirmed and paid for.

My daughter slept on the pullout couch that night - but there was no bedding on it, or for it anywhere. So we had to contact the front desk to get bedding for her. The gentleman who brought it for us was surprised by this also. We were also very disappointed in how there was no TV in the living room area. There were also other areas that were not very clean (floors, bathtub, etc). Overall, a big disappointment. We will not be staying here again.

The location is good for being around the zoo and downtown areas. The room was in good shape. I had no real issues with anything, and continental breakfast was good.

This hotel appears to have tried to do updates, but they were poorly done, the sinks/shower don’t drain well, the shower ceiling looks like they tried to slap new paint over a bad repair job, the floors were gritty and bed mattress super soft, like worn out soft. We paid $112 for the night and it was worth maybe $45. Pick another place to stay.

The hotel served its purpose. The TV was glitching, but thankfully, the front desk promptly fixed it when I informed them. The elevator was wonky, and I’m quite afraid of them, so I opted to take the stairs for the rest of my stay. During my stay, I, two employees, and another guest went up the elevator. The other guest was trying to get off at the second floor, but the doors wouldn’t open and seemed to get stuck. Despite this, the elevator ignored the issue and proceeded to the third floor. We were stuck for about two minutes, which was the scariest experience of my stay! However, I must say that the staff was great!

Check in was slow , we book 3 rooms and we try to change one single bed for a double bed and was a little bit problematic because we booked through Expedia. Next morning, no breakfast, supposed to start 6 30 but kitchen staff shows up 6 :45 am. Room clean , bathroom ok

The front desk staff could not be more helpful! They provided perfect alternate parking suggestions for the the Alamodome (we went to Paul McCartney concert 10/25.25) and were very responsive when we left personal effects behind after check out. They found it and we picked it up. Housekeeping were also great, friendly and helpful. Thank you for a pleasand stressfree stay!

Room had bugs behind TV dresser? Scratches on the ground, elevator takes too long & shakes a lot. Budget friendly stay but that’s about it. Would not recommend going again straight up. San Antonio was amazing tho, love the people. Best Western sucks

Hotel is older but well kept. Room was goid size. The bed was comfortable. I liked that was no carpet, tile in bathroom and flooring in sleep area. Very good TV channel line up and wifi was fast. Never had any issue finding parking even when coming in late. Breakfast was good with several options. Area around hotel was quiet with several local restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.

Affordable hotel close to JBSA-Fort Sam Houston and the Riverwalk. Family friendly with breakfast and pool. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Checked in in less than 10 minutes. Very efficient and clean. Respectful workers and kind. Helped with directions to tue city for which i was not from there.

Staff was okay - nothing terrible happened. No major issues. There’s one elevator, which makes it difficult to leave for checkout time or prime hours. There were no loading carts. Yes, there are two EV chargers on site but no adaptors for Teslas, which is odd considering the EV market is dominated by them.

Walked into a dirty restroom. Clearly used with unflushed waste. Although they changed our room, the second room still wasnt swept or mopped.

Rooms were clean. There was a sonic, BBQ place and gas station within walking distance. Laundry mat about a mile away. Breakfast okay except the bacon wasn't crispy. Very limpylike and overcooked noodle.

Damp musty smell in room

Staff was very friendly. But building is very outdated. Area where hotel is located doesn’t look to safe.

This location is near the base, in case you’re in town for your loved one in the military and wanna stay somewhere closer to them. The rooms were comfortable everything was working okay. They need to upgrade some of the electrical plugs like the usb plugs for the phone. Take an actual plug if you want your stuff charged. The staff was very nice and accommodating. There is some food options across the street or down the road a bit.

I would recommend in future reference.

We stayed there to attend the AIT graduation which was really close to the hotel so it was super easy to find. What we didn’t care for about the hotel was our room was directly across from the elevator and although it may seem convenient you also hear everything outside the door when people are using the elevator. When the staff took our trash and dirty towels they didn’t replace the bags or give us clean towels until we asked. Door dash is fine but don’t order pizza unless you ask them if they deliver to your location bc some don’t deliver on that side of the interstate. There is a sonic literally right next door but it kinda sucked. A gas station right next to it and a BBQ restaurant across the street, all super convenient and in walking distance. Beds were comfy and the water pressure in the shower was to die for!! Not a bad place to stay overall. Wld recommend.

I didn’t like that the closet door was broken off or that our shower curtain went missing the next day and the pool was not the cleanest. But the breakfast was decent and the room was spacious.

The elevators seemed to be barely working and scary to ride so 5 flights of stairs every time I left and came back.

Bathroom smelled like mold. Bathroom door wouldn't latch so you could not lock the door. a/C unit compressor was going out and extremely loud.

The hotel was conveniently located next to a gas station where you could replenish supplies. It was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was good. I was a little uneasy about the location with crime, but I guess seeing hotel security was reassuring.

The air conditioner finally was cold by the second day. The bed was fairly comfortable. I appreciated the separate bedroom because my sister-in-law was with us. The WiFi was very spotty. Front staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was okay. The waffles were the best part. I also appreciated the coffee and orange juice. We picked this hotel for the room, location, and price. They also have a very nice patio and pool.

The AC didn't work properly. The room setup was very odd, right when you opened the door there was the bathroom sink. The bathroom door didn't shut right. They need to replace the chair, very worn and fabric peeling all over the place.

Next door was a (K) gas station for snacks and there were several locations to eat such as a Sonic and a Barbeque place. The breakfast was prepped and ready each morning which was nice. I was disappointed I could not take baths during the stay as I had no stopper maybe because they gave me a handicap accessible room.

We stayed here for AIT graduation. Very reasonably priced, only 2-3 minute drive to Fort Sam Houston gate, close to Alamo, clean facility, plenty of parking. Would definitely stay there again.

The front desk clerk was an older, white-haired man who was so incredibly rude. It took him 15 minutes to check.me in at midnight with no one else present. He made a snide remark that he needed to see if I could afford the room! I had prepaid it on a platinum caed! He was slow, rude and the propery itself was not well maintained. We didn't have a signal in the room and wouldn't even watch tv

Hotel photos online are not accurate. Hotel is a bit run down with some obvious improvements. Beds are uncomfortable. Bathroom sink is right as you walk in room and makes walk in narrow.. awkward to say the least. I will say the breakfast is outstanding.

The rooms could do with better cleaning. Sticky nightstand and desk, didn't look like it was wiped down. Floor didn't look like it was moped either. Beds were comfortable but with everything else being dirty it felt like the sheets were probably not changed either. Pool area wasn't clean either. The pool was though.

Convenient location. Everything was good except housekeeping. Our room was never cleaned the 3 nights we were there. We had to ask for clean towels. Housekeepers seemed to goof off all the time. The free breakfast was fine. A few restaurants within walking distance.

This place was great. We stayed for the stock show. I felt safe here. It was clean. Great breakfast. It was a little tricky to get in and out of the parking lot. Just a lot of back up traffic from the light at certain times of the day. We will stay here again.

Great no-frills hotel for a weekend stay. Very clean and the bed was super comfortable! Nice bath products, citrus scented hehe. Plenty of parking and safe. Didn't eat breakfast at the hotel so can't comment, but coffee was available 24/7. Only 10 minute drive downtown, pretty convenient to get anywhere, close to highways and the hotel's road isn't super busy.
