Amazing location, really friendly host, delicious breakfast - they even had gluten-free options

L'Arturo B&B was centrally located in the picturesque old town of Matera with wonderful views over the sassi. Arturo and Monica were wonderful hosts - incredibily kind and helpful and went out of their way to assist us with taxis and recommendations for restaurants. Monica warned us beforehand not to bring big suitcases as there are many stairs down to the guest house. They kindly helped us with our luggage. The decoration of the room was quirky and modern and contrasted with the beautiful and well renovated old building Our room was very spacious with a nice terrace with a table and chairs. Restaurants and shops were all within walking distance from the guest house. The breakfast on the terrace with a view was scrumptious with fresh pastries, bread, cheeses, tomatoes,fruit, cereals, jogurt,milk ,coffee, water, and juice - so much to choose from. Thank you Arturo and Monica for a wonderful experience Nothing . Everything was perfect.

We had two rooms, one at the top at the gate and one at the bottom of the complex. Both rooms were very nice. Beds were comfortable. The a/c eventually cooled the rooms, but it took a while. Any problems were immediately addressed and fixed. The location is super, close to Piazza Duomo and on the edge of the Sassi. Breakfast was nice. Communication with the owner was excellent and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. The temperature in the showers was difficult to regulate, switching rapidly from cold to scalding. We live in Italy, travel a lot, and we are used to temperamental showers. However, these bordered on being dangerous. Perhaps the temperature on the hot water heater could be lowered a little to avoid scalding? There are also a lot of steps, particularly if you are in the bottom unit.

Nothing. Our stay was magical!

It was in a perfect location close to plaza but steps down from it for a quiet stay. Had 2 nights of good sleep. Host was attentive to all our needs and gave us tips what to see and how to get there. Easy to navigate both sides of the town from where we stayed.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a remarkable accommodation in Matera, and I can confidently say that it exceeded all my expectations. Nestled in a fantastic and authentic location, the place offers breathtaking views of the old town, which are even more stunning in person than in the photos. The charm of the surroundings adds a unique character to the stay, making it truly memorable. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, providing excellent recommendations for local tours, parking options, and nearby restaurants. If you're looking for a place that captures the essence of Matera while offering comfort and outstanding service, I highly recommend this accommodation. It's a hidden gem that you'll want to return to time and again! Almost nothing! We did experience a minor issue with the shower, but it was resolved quickly and efficiently.

Amazing place, just as shown in the pictures. Super convenient location and is actually inside the old town area. I don't always go for the breakfast in hotels but the one served by Monica was great. Overall, 10/10. The bathroom/toilet can do with slightly better sound insulation.

Exceptional

Great location just off a main street and piazza, and walkable to many sights. But yet very quiet. The room was large but basic. A good breakfast in the morning. We had to leave early the last morning, and the hostess accommodated us with an early breakfast.

We loved everything about our stay. The location was incredible, our host Monica was warm and welcoming when we arrived in the evening. The room was spacious with ample storage for our luggage, and the views for breakfast were amazing, it was also incredibly tasty.

Perfect place, in the middle of the old town. Accessible from the main train station (15 minutes walk), otherwise taxi can park really near (like 50 meters, one stairs). Fantastic host, Monica, responsive, helpful, talkative, superb, recommended pizzeria to us :) and helped us when the train was delayed (a lot delayed). The room was clean, well prepared, very nicely finished. We would return here any time and on our next visit to Matera we will stay here. Nothing, all was superb.

L'Arturo is a wonderful B&B set just within sassi barisano. Monica our wonderful hostess sent us perfect instructions which enabled us to find it very easily. Our cave room was fabulous. Tastefully furnished, super comfortable and with everything that we needed including tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was served on a pretty terrace overlooking the sassi. We had a feast each morning of delicious local food. We would highly recommend a stay at L'Arturo.

The property is located in very good place, many restaurants around it. The view through the window was amazing, especially at night. Owners were very friendly, they gave a map and marked/suggested places which we should visit. Breakfast was tasty. Wifi was weak.

This B&B stunned us, the location is unbelievable, the room was very spacious, elegant, comfortable (with a beautiful unique shower) and an incredible deal for the price. The photos don't do justice with how nice everything is. Monica was a delightful host, so welcoming and friendly. We where sad to leave and whould definitely recommend this B&B to everyone who wants to visit the incredible city of Matera. Everything was great, not one bad thing to say

Gorgeous accommodation with a view, breakfast is really nice compared to other B&Bs in Italy.

The property is located in a great place, just 2 minutes away from the cathedral. The room we were in was spacious and provided with everything necessary. Other than being very nice and helpful the host prepares great breakfasts. Although the room was overall clean, the old original floor made it difficult to walk barefoot without the unpleasant feeling of getting feet dirty.

Perfect location in Matera. Everything was easily walkable, just meters from bars and restaurants. Our room was huge and really quiet. The little shared terrace was pretty with roof top views - this is where breakfast was served. Breakfast was varied and yummy every day. Best of all, served by Monica who was kind and helpful. Personal preference, but the pillows were too big for me, maybe a couple of different options would work.
