Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was large, with its own private terrace that overlooked the city, amazing views day and night. Highly recommend.

The staff were wonderful and the hotel was within walking distance to many attractions. Super cool to stay in a very historic area. It was impossible to find! Maps struggled to locate. Finally called hotel and they sent someone to us. STRONGLY suggest arranging for porter to take luggage from parking to hotel and it is many, many stairs and twists and turns. A long way to carry luggage. Also suggest packing a very small bag rather than take luggage to hotel.

The stairs from the bedroom down to the bathroom were steep. Although it is what I expected, it was a challenge to go up and down the stairs, so it is something to be aware of.

Fantastic location. I arrived by train and the hotel organized a taxi to meet me when my bus arri8.

Fabulous breakfast made by Francesca- she is lovely! Very helpful and attentive staff - they treat you like royalty. Internet connection was spotty.

Very friendly staff. The breakfast was very good. The location is fantastic, You are staying in a former cave so you have to expect that there things like a faint smell of damp is part of the experience, Well worth the location and the experience.

The hotel was great the location fabulous but you have to carry your luggage for 400 m on ancient pavement with lots of steps. The staff was very gentle and helpful The fact that they say that they have parking which is not so right . The breakfast could be better

The property was stunning ! The lobby was beautiful - the suite was spacious and clean , beds super comfortable . View was amazing. And location was outstanding! Absolutely nothing - property exceeded expectations

The room size was small. There was a leak in the bathroom sink, but that wasn't an issue except that stuff got wet. The room was non-smoking, but most people would smoke just outside the window.

This was probably the coolest property we’ve ever stayed in. We felt like we were waking up in a castle. Matera is a very special place and this hotel allowed us to feel like we were living among the rocks of Matera. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Nothing

Magical place

Such fun unique rooms. The view from the front of the hotel is stunning! Great location not too far from parking, maybe like an 8 minute walk. Wish breakfast started a little bit earlier since we like to get an early start to the day to beat the heat and the crowds.

This "room" is beyond description. It's basically part of an old church (800 AD to the late 1600s) and your bed is located in one of the apses with a very high ceiling. It's all stone/rock and the room is exceptionally silent. On the second "floor"/mezzanine in the room there is a huge jacuzzi with a light show. There is also a terrace (which you reach by climbing out an old window-turned-door and with a fantastic view of the cathedral. The room is very clean and there is a small minibar. Breakfast is served in the main church building and is adequate. This room cannot be compared to anything we have ever seen and is perfect for romantically oriented couples! Since Matera is very hilly we asked for a ported to carry our luggage to and from the hotel from and to our taxi (we arrived by bus). The staff was very helpful. Being an old church the room is very humid, although there is a dehumidifier available. Wifi in the room was basically non-existent so we had to do our browsing in the hotel reception (a few meters away). The room is also very sandy, and whatever you touched got (a little) sandy. But this is a small price to pay for the unique experience this room offers!
