Novotel Jakarta Gajah Mada

Most staffs are friendly 1. House keeping always leave the house keeping hang tag on the floor which I don't understand what it's supposed to mean. If I hang it on the door handle, it is on the floor when I come back room. 2. Also some of my personal gadget was missing. I didn't feel the house keeping quality acceptable. 3. Shower water never got hot.

So-so. breakfast. Not great, but OK Bar: physically run-down. Dirty carpets, torn and sagging drapes. Bartender must have been new to the job. We asked for whiskey and gin, but she had none. She did have red wine. It was from an already opened bottle and it was sour. Went for some of the snacks and all four were stale and inedible. Couple the bar experience with the run down condition of the hotel, we stayed one night and went to another hotel down the street. This experience was not typical of Novotel previous occasions.

The staffs are helpful and very nice. My friend lost his passports on the Grab. And the person in the reception helps us to contact the driver. The facilities are old. I stayed three nights. No hot water when showering for many times. There is no electricity in my room during the last stay after using hairdryer for like 5 minutes. The staff helped change my room in the end. The elevator sometimes doesn’t stopped at the proper place.

location and rate the room doors cant close automatically, requires manual pulling to ensure its locked. Twice i went, both times the room door were left ajar after room cleaning. luckily nothing was lost

The pool area. Candra Naya, the partner restaurant next to the hotel, with very good food and very kind staff. Wifi worked well. The room and the corridor were very cold, when we arrived it was 15 degrees in the room, with the air conditioner on full blast. The central AC regulator did not work at all, it only blew ice cold air, no matter how much we turned it warmer. Since the windows cannot be opened, even though we turned off the AC and it was hot outside, we were unable to heat the room to an acceptable temperature during our entire stay, which ruined our entire stay in Jakarta. The staff offered to change rooms, but they were all equally cold, so there was no point. In addition to culture and excursions, many tourists also travel to Southeast Asia in winter because they want to escape from the cold at home and into the warmth. We were colder in the hotel than in our house. Also, there was no hot water. Due to the non-opening windows and the constant damp cold, the bathroom and the walls of the rooms are moldy, and it is bad air.. The sheets have holes.The hotel's furnishings are shabby, the floor carpet is dirty, and the technical condition of the building is terrible. The hair dryer constantly blew the fuse, many times 3 of the 4 elevators did not work, so we had to wait a lot for it (we lived on the 15th floor). We think the other hotels do it much better, the AC is not turned on when the guest arrives, and he will decide where to set it. We think it would be good if it were indicated on Booking.com if the windows in a hotel cannot be opened.

Staff was very helpful, and was quick to respond to any issues. We asked for help with the bedside lights that didn't work, and they sent someone who offered a standing lamp as replacement. Also was quick to help when the hair dryer tripped the fuse box. The state of the hotel was not what I expected at all, though. This is an old hotel that truly needs a renovation. The rooms were old and carpets need to be completely replaced. The carpet in the room had a huge wet spot right in front of the bed, and there were dirty and wet spots behind the doors to the bathroom. Clearly wasn't cleaned well. The lights in the room were also mostly white, felt like being in an aquarium. Bed side lights didn't work, and the hair dryer tripped the fuse box. The lobby's AC wasn't cold either. We only stayed one night and was grateful it was just for one night.

The staff were very nice and went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. The chefs prepared complimentary dishes for us at breakfast which was amazing! The only downside was the pool was sort of the smoking area for guests.

They accommodated my wishes and further. The price of beer is a little excessive.

I really like the room. Its very comfy and the breakfast really good. Aircon works really well.
