Had to get room key rekeyed every-time we left the room. They said system had been down for months and they dont care due to closing the hotel in November. Should tell people before they book- especially when on the 7th floor and cant get into room 4 times.

We were greeted by a group of homeless folks in the parking lot, including one who approached us to ask for money. Usually not an issue, but very uncomfortable when entering a hotel to check in with all your bags. Underground garage was like an unfinished basement. Poorly lit and a bit sketchy. And they charged $15 to park. Hallways had a slight musty smell and there was no effort to fancy this place up. Lots of young people sitting in the common spaces, which, again, gave a youth hostel vibe. The room was fine; no frills, but fine. It felt outdated and barren, more like a hostel than a hotel. Very hard bed. The ambiance led us to skip the free breakfast because we (maybe unfairly) didn’t want to take our chances. The bottom line is this place is okay if you are expecting that vibe, but it is very overpriced for what is offered.

The location is on the edge of downtown Hartford. It was an easy walk to downtown but on a Sunday downtown is not all that active and many places are closed.

Staff were friendly. We were only there for one night and spent most of the night at a concert. Room was infested with ants and had a strong mildew smell. The beds don’t have mattress covers, so we slept on top of the blankets. It did the job for the single night, but wouldn’t have put up with it had we needed to stay for longer. Parking was easy so that was a plus!

Got a room for the night for a concert. Only sleeping there so didn’t think much of it. I always do enough research and this seemed fine. Wrong. I checked in and quickly went to my room to drop my stuff off before the show. Immediately all I could smell was cat urine. Then I walked the room and found all kinds of gross stuff. Used toothpaste tube in the bathroom, mold in the bathroom in the walls and in the shower, missing paint, an illegal light switch, blood on the box spring, and my personal favorite, someone’s used eyelashes stuck to the headboard. The bathroom was extremely outdated and clearly had years of water damage. The room was more modern, but gross. The cat urine smell was so overpowering. There was no staff around when I got back super late so I just went to sleep. I didn’t even shower in the morning I just left. The bathroom grossed me out that bad. I had to get out of there. Highly would NOT suggest wasting the money on this property. Also, you have to pay for parking in the back lot or the sketchy tiny underground garage. $16 a day. Stay away.

Overall pretty good property just the parking garage was a little sketchy

I paid 40 to park overnight, because there is not hotel parking. The floor in my room was not vacuumed, there was hair in the bathroom sink and the toilet didnt flush

Keycard reset every day and you have to re-register, and the employee does not check in the system if you are actually registered to the room (safety concern). There is no housekeeping and we had to ask the desk for more toilet paper (we stayed for 4 days), and our room had an ant infestation. Shower drain was clogged and the tub filled up while showering.

The hotel was dirty (ripped rug, dirty floor, hair on mattress).

Everything is VERY dated. When we asked for extra towels, as we were a party of 4 and only 2 towels were in the room, we were told they were at capacity and none were available. The bed linens were VERY worn, flat pillows, pilly blankets and stains. Parking was extra as well. Would not stay here again, unless a huge update to the facility were completed.

This was a poor choice, but convenience for 1 night is what I was looking for. Room smelled like mold (pictured), bed was essentially a platform cot, a/c didn't get cold and had filth in the vent (pictured), half room was fake hardwood and other half carpet (assuming from a big leak, also pictured). Staff didnt speak English either. Rats everywhere outside. Thanks but no thanks!

No free parking - how could it fill up? This is a drawback. Also not happy with room - dingy, tired feel to it. It was clean but just a bit grungy feeling. The best way I can describe everything here is "okay." Not great, but not a fleabag.

In its day I’m sure it was decent but I would never rebook. Surprised it’s on the Hotel.com site as a choice. Sorry Capital Hotel folks.

Could be better

It offered the bare minimum. Bathroom was clean and functional. Beds were not very comfortable. Minimal electric outlets. Had to request a luggage stand - none in room. Room had a "funky" odor to it - maybe disinfectant. Breakfast was nothing remarkable. Many people at breakfast complained about the hotels relatively poor quality - someone saw a rat in the parking garage - the garage had seen its better days. Never saw an actual desk clerk at the desk - they were always elsewhere - assisting other customers with their complaints. Bottom line - would I ever stay there again - nope. The presence of poor homeless people sleeping on park benches across the street did not add to the ambiance of the neighborhood.

It was pretty gross. There was a rat, the room was okay and had a nice view but the shower had a leak that sprayed a lot onto the floor. Lucky for them I wiped it up both times… A drink I got out of the machine on floor 9 was covered in dust, lmao. Definitely would not go back.

The rooms smell horrible and the bedding was awfull, stains, no skirt on the boxspring . I left 2 minutes into the rental I didn’t even get a refund.

It’s next to station and convenient, breakfast is very basic though rooms have fridge and microwave and coffee makers too ! It has parking and a basic gym ! No weight machines! It opposite bushnell park and capital building! There is nothing wrong with it but it still seems to lack that comfortable feeling

Room was okay. Toilet was peeling and leaking?!?!? Beds were tiny and uncomfortable. The blankets were thin and there was a cigarette burn in on of the comforters. Breakfast was okay. We did have the best view of the capitol building.

A good value for an overnight stay.
