The Old Crown Coaching Inn
About The Old Crown Coaching Inn
Located in the market town of Faringdon, this former 16th-century coaching inn still has its original courtyard. This boutique-style hotel offers spacious rooms with flat-screen TVs and free on-site parking. The beautifully decorated rooms at The Old Crown Coaching Inn feature private bathrooms. The Court Room Junior Suite also features a spa. Tea/coffee making facilities are also included. Hairdryers, irons and ironing boards are available on request. Free Wi-Fi is available in the upper level and the courtyard. These areas have retained original features such as flagstone tiled floors, open log fires and exposed beams. The hotel is ideally positioned to explore Faringdon's picturesque streets and the surrounding Cotswolds countryside. I liked that the bus from Oxford dropped me at the door. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating. The history of the building was interesting and my room (solo traveler) was perfect for what I needed. I slept like an actual log! Very comfy mattress. The restaurant was beautiful. They did have a live cover band in the pub from about 10 until about 11, and though I didn't go down to see, it was not unpleasant music to hear from my room. I would stay again. I was a little disappointed in the food. I expect some challenges as I am gluten free, but this toast/roll was rock hard. And it also took a while for my food to arrive after I ordered.

An interesting old inn, which made a good place to stop touring round the area.

Nice staff / pleasant Breakfast room.

Lovely surroundings & a beautiful old building The bed was the most comfortable I think I’ve ever slept in The shower in Room 3 needs fixing to the wall properly
-
Room comfortable, staff lovely and helpful But disappointed food wasn't available on the Monday evening as was looking forward to eating at the venue

We were visiting family for the night and the location made it quite easy. The rooms are run down and trying to sleep above a loud pub wasn't easy. Staff were very nice and parking is available.

Good atmosphere. Great breakfast. Parking onsite.

First breakfast was full English, very nice. Pleasant quirky building. Nice clean market town Second breakfast avacado and eggs, cold. Young lady who checked me out ignorant and unfriendly. Bedside light not working.

Nice size

Room although small was all we needed for one night. It was clean and water and coffee provided free of charge. Bathroom was average but adequate for the night. Staff helpful and enjoyed the location and character. Would have liked warning of live music on the Saturday night. In the end that and the courtyard noise didn’t keep us awake too long. Breakfast was good but the “one cup of tea or coffee included” seemed unnecessary!

Enjoyed the comfort and friendliness of the staff both when I checked in and the following morning As all old places other people walking around makes noice, but not a complaint

This was our second visit to The Old Crown Coaching Inn. The first was on our wedding night in January 1972! 53 years later it still looks much the same from the outside, although the interior has been updated, and has the usual facilities installed that we've come to expect. The bar and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. A pleasant, characterful place to stay. There were only a couple of minor points which I'm sure would have been dealt with had we been staying for more than one night. Bed wasn't very comfortable and duvet very thin, so not warm, (no spare blankets). No instructions for coffee maker.

We booked for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day - we were fortunate to be upgraded to the Coach Inn room which was absolutely amazing - the New Year’s Eve tasting menu was second to none compliments to the chef and all the staff who made our getaway just perfect
