We stayed at The Stanley three years ago in the main hotel and had a wonderful five star stay. This week, we booked two nights in The Lodge building (last minute so not our first choice of building) and our stay was much different. First, there is construction everywhere you look. But most importantly, we were made very aware that the customers staying in the hotel are not the priority of this property. Parking is a nightmare and there is no dedicated parking for just hotel customers. Tour groups and private events take up all the parking all day. Also, the Lodge building is a loud factory of private events that came and went all weekend. These events were LOUD and an employee shushed my daughter and I while we were walking the few feet from the elevator to the front door to leave to eat. We paid $400 a night and can't even talk in a normal voice in the lobby?? There was a wedding party on our last night there and they partied downstairs LOUDLY AND ROWDY until very late. The music and shouts were so loud that we could hear them over our white noise machine two floors up. So paying guests can't talk a few words in the lobby but a wedding group can keep the entire hotel awake all night? Overall, I love the Stanley for the historic beauty, but it's obvious the new owners prioritize private events (we saw two weddings in one weekend) and tour groups over hotel guests. Don't stay in The Lodge unless you want to be second class to the private events and overbearing employees.

The hotel was beautiful and historic. However, nobody told us that there was no central air conditioning nor that there was construction going on at the hotel when I booked our room. The television turned on and sound came out but the picture didn't come on. We were woke up before 8 am by a jackhammer that was consistent until we checked out at 11 am. I would never have booked this hotel, nor paid that much. We were extremely disappointed with this hotel and our trip to Estes Park.

Ghost tour was a joke!

Needs remodeling and upgrades

A lot of the value was lost as check in when we found out we were being placed in a sort of "overflow" building that was at the outer edge of the property, before the guard station. The room we were in was incredibly small and plain. Employees were super friendly and the property is beautiful and well maintained.

We didn’t get to stay in the Stanley proper but stayed at Aspire which ended up being ok because that’s where the pool and hot tub were located and my kids loved that. Rooms were very clean and amenities were satisfactory. Didn’t catch any ghost sightings but I imagine everyone walking up and down the hall right near your room if you’re staying right in the hotel would be annoying after a while or even just screw up if you thought you heard a real ghost or just people looking around. Anyways very cool property with such rich history and cool vibe. The bars looked very fun and the food looked good. Will try to eat and stay right in the Stanley next time though. Just be sure to ask that before booking.

Front desk was very helpful with checking in and we needed an extra blanket. Was delivered to the room. Great

It was cool! We had a ton of experiences with taps, whispers and other things. Hotel is super cool inside and clean and obviously it’s beautiful all around the hotel. All the construction does suck but it’s alright

The front office lady was extremely helpful.

Your opinion of this hotel will depend upon your expectation. If you want a 5 star hotel equal to the best Hyatt Regency you will be greatly disappointed, especially for the price. If you are looking for an iconic hotel with lots of history and character you will be very pleased. I would recomend booking the two bed rooms because they are much bigger.

Such a great place to visit. The only drawback was the portable AC in the room. Otherwise we were very happy with the accommodations and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys staying in vintage hotels.

It has been on my bucket list to visit and stay at The Stanley! My husband and I both spent the last day of our honeymoon here and it was the perfect end to our trip. Hotel was well maintained.

The property and staff was great.

There's a lot of construction going on, but our stay was terrific.
-
The property is under major construction. Not the beautiful experience we were hoping for.
-
Great and fun experience. Looking forward to visiting again.

Clean room, beautiful location.

Construction will eventually make the property more enjoyable, but was a bit disruptive during my stay. Many non-hotel guests present for the hotel tours during the day. Proximity to RMNP and downtown Estes Park was convenient.

Clean and comfortable hotel for a hotel of its age. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, bar was good, activities were fun, overall it was a great experience.
