Staff in cafe were all miserable apart from one but good food

I liked the suite because it offered two separate bedrooms. The outdoor spa was nice. Breakfast was only offered until 9:30am, not 10am. The door leading to one of the bedrooms was broken. The bathroom tub could use updating.

This is really the only place to stay in Des Moines. It is so gorgeous. The scale of it is amazing. Everything from the Cool statues and artwork in the library to the rooms themselves are just beautiful. Bravo!

Beautiful lobby. The building has kept much of it's old character and charm. Staff were extremely nice! Gym is very clean and updated. Only thing I would ask for is better condiments for starbuck's coffee in the room. Please stop those packets containing the sweet and lo, powdered creamer etc... It is wasteful due to all the things we don't use in that packet. Real half and half in the tiny capsules would be MUCH better than the horrible powdered stuff and add sugar in the raw packets as a choice. Thanks!

we love staying in this charming old hotel that’s been renovated right in the heart of the downtown. We were able to walk to a graduation ceremony. We attended for Des Moines university.

I absolutely loved staying here it was only for 1 day but, front desk was able to provide both early check in and late check out which really came in handy since i traveled to des moines for my brothers graduation and it therefore gave me plenty of time to get ready, also the maintenance employee julieta i think thats how you spell it was extremely helpful when our mini fridge wasnt working in our room she was extremely welcoming and i enjoyed the conversations we had while she helped us, now as far as the valet staff they were also amazing they were always hustling to retrieve my car, when i needed it the most time i waited for my car was 2 minutes overall 10/10 experience i would definitely stay there again

Gorgeous hotel with a beautiful historic charm. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained. Great location, elegant atmosphere, and excellent service. I would definitely stay at Hotel Fort Des Moines again and highly recommend it.

Other than housekeeping the property all round was lovely Our only issue was housekeeping each day seemed to be something, entered without knocking, had to request the room be made up to return after a day out to not be done, then arrive when we were back in our room, one day only provided one towel for two people, next no toilet paper, so ran out
