Don’t let the reception area fool you, updated and remodeled to look current, the rooms are OLD. The hotel is geared and used by working men in heavy protective boots which you will hear ALL NIGHT LONG. Staff was nice and Breakfast was good. Location to other places, Scooters, highway, restaurants was great. But the overall look and feel was a throw back to 1980, my room was not clean and there was coffee all over the inside of the door when I walked in.

First floor window didn't lock, was moves to a new room then that one had hair in tub drain and it drained slow, dental floss on floor, main areas smelled of smoke and had not been cleaned well for awhile. Only ice machine that worked was on 3rd floor. Would not return.

The beds were comfortable and the staff were very nice. The location is good, as well.

See stayed 1 night. Very quiet and comfortable room.

Bathroom was nasty with hair and mold EVERYWHERE. Broken tiles and stunk. Staff didn’t even care

The bed and bathroom/shower were nice. The towels were thread bare. The stairwell was dirty and there was vomit on the 2nd floor stairs. There were holes in the door frame. The temp was set to 66°... TOO COLD!? The little ggage cart was coming apart at the clothes hanging area

The bathroom fan had an average amount of noise, but the bathroom door hinges did not squeak (which does happen a lot). The shower temperature and water pressure were great. (1 star) The mattress was softer than we would have liked, but we still felt well-rested every morning. The air conditioner wasn't overly noisy at bedtime, and was off most of the night. The adjoining rooms and hallways were absolutely quiet, despite the hotel being at full capacity for the four nights we stayed. (1 star) The breakfast area was clean and well stocked, with a good variety of food, including fruit that was quite fresh. (1 star) The front desk staff was very helpful. As previously mentioned, they handled our concern about the bathtub area promptly, and they were very efficient checking us in for two rooms that had different arrival/departure dates. (1 star) Based on these factors, my overall rating is 4 stars.

I would never stay at this hotel. From the pictures on the website and the location, it seemed to be a nice place. But when I arrived to the hotel parking lot, it was a very different atmosphere. There were young to middle-aged men loitering all around the outside of the hotel, and in the lobby. There were smells of various kinds, that I do not want around my children. The vibe and the atmosphere felt very unsafe. I knew right away that this was not a good or safe place, even by the look of what was going on in the parking lot. I had only made the booking less than an hour before I went into the lobby of the hotel, and they would not refund my money, saying that Expedia would not allow them to do so. I have reached out to Hotels.com/Expedia, and they have told me they can’t refund my money unless the owner or manager of the hotel allows them to do so. They said it would take 72 hours to get a reply of yes or no for the refund. One blames it on the other. A horrible way to do business. Went to another nicer hotel in the same town, and the person at the reception told me that they would not send their worst enemy to that hotel, that they are known for very shady things happening there, including human trafficking. I thanked this person for letting me know, because it confirmed what I was seeing and sensing when I went there myself. Hotels.com/Expedia needs to take SureStay Best Western in Iowa City off of their register, it is not safe or worthy to send customers.

Needs better up keep, cleaning; staff needs to be more into their job than their phones

So the bed was clean, every thing else was used up and stained. Makeup smudges on the hairdryer, which made me wonder about other surfaces. Room smelled like someone had cooked something fragrant in there, could only open the window 6” to try and air it out. Fine for a quick stay, it was quiet and well priced, perfectly mediocre.

Front desk was not staffed well and the walls were quite thin.

This hotel was average.

The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel was quiet and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was great. The only thing that was lacking was the bathroom needed to be cleaner and updated.

I don't think there was anybody in the lobby that was happy with this hotel. Our first room, the air conditioner was making a terrible sound. The room was dirty none of the furniture matched, and we had to convince the front desk to come down and look at the air conditioner. I also booked a hotel with a pool because I wanted to go swimming. Their pool is closed by the county. Which really tells you something. I would skip this hotel.

Good breakfast; clean room; comfortable bed.

Overall, our two hotel rooms did not look or feel dirty. The couch in our room had some stains and it was kind of gross looking. A vacuum needs run in all corners, especially in the bathroom. Some of the sheets and towels had gross stains on them. The air conditioners in our rooms worked well enough but were very loud, kicking on and off, even when the fan was turned to always run on low. Overall it was not a bad experience. We would stay there again.

Pool and Ice Machines were unfortunately down and closed until further notice. Sound insulation isn’t the greatest since there was this Tan Cadillac Escalade blaring music at maximum volume at random points throughout our stay. We had earbuds to put in to block out the sound, and at least it didn’t happen at night. I’m being a little bit picky about that one as anyone has the freedom to do what they want, but for those seeking a quieter stay, this may throw you off.
