Wonderful Staff and excellent location Rooms are a little dated and bathrooms are a little disappointing.

Loved the feel of the place, the staff and the location! The pool room was heated although the pool was a bit chilly but lovely addition to the stay! Also the piano was nicely tuned!!! Lionel was a gracious host for breakfast and treated our birthday celebration with such care! The honor bar was too easy to use! What a bonus and convenience!!!

Excellent stay overall in a beautiful, characterful hotel with a superb central location on the canal. The staff were consistently warm and professional, and Mareka at the front desk was especially delightful and welcoming. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel has a great sense of charm and old-world atmosphere. Our room was spotless, though there were a couple of minor maintenance issues, notably with the curtains on both windows. I also found that, during breakfast on Sunday, the use of part of the breakfast room for a lively birthday event detracted from the calm atmosphere one hopes for in a hotel of this kind.

You set an exceptional bar for customer service, one we challenge future accommodation providers to exceed. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We traveled with two dogs and there were no issues. The breakfast included was wonderful and the location was perfect. Decor was perfect for the holidays and the hotel, though old, was very charming. The front desk manager on the day we were checking out told me the incorrect checkout time and seemed very upset when I requested a late checkout, which was only 30 minutes past the actual checkout time.

This hotel was perfect for our stay. Great location and ALL of the Staff were wonderful! They helped us with all our questions and requests. Would stay there again! Nothing that I can think of.

Very quaint and picturesque. Matrassen and materass frames need a serious do over. Very worn out.

Great Central location yet very peaceful. Walkable to everywhere and right by canal. Lovely building with plush in keeping decor and furnishings and large 18th c loungr. Large and comfortable ground floor room with good shower etc. Room included safe, mini bar, kettle. All staff lovely and helpful. We borrowed chess from reception. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality with tasty omelettes. Small pool which we used daily. Private parking was the other bonus for us, though not cheap. Our room was pink which was fun but the pale pink carpet was very impractical and had got very dirty. They'd put rugs on it but these were trip hazards and it really needed a good shampoo or replacement. The room was at street level. Very handy for the pool but you wouldn't have wanted to open the windows in summer. Lighting in lounge and room was barely bright enough to read by.

Excellent location and room. Bonus tip - do visit the first floor where Napoleon himself signed the declaration. Also super helpful staff - they sent a wine bottle to us on account of my birthday. Also the sauna and heated pool looked amazing - though I could not try it. Only downside there is no lunch or dinner restaurant available though plenty to places available nearby ... given that the location is outstanding. Everything was excellent - only thing is a little bit more choice during breakfast and somewhat more trained staff (one who can prepare good eggs) during breakfast would be nice.
