Just the rooms need updating The shades didn’t work no phone in the room to call front desk.
-
Hair in my fridge and on bed. Air not working well. Yogurt expired.

The pool table and such were a great touch

Despite requesting room cleaning before 1:30 that never happened and the cleaning personnel sang and shouted in the hall during the afternoon . The AC didn’t work appropriately and made noise requiring noise cancelling headphones. The room had a stench of plumbing issues either sewage issue or blocked pipes. The remedy offered was wiping the floors with fabulous cleaner which stinks. I declined that and paid for a candle I burned. The day of check out ( today) the woman at the front desk was rude . I have stayed with you multiple times but may reconsider that in the future. It was a disappointing experience this time. The hotel rooms need renovation and are tired in appearance . The breakfast donuts and pastries were also terribly disappointing. Stale donuts and sad looking pastry.

Very nice place to stay. Have been here a couple of times and will be sure to come back!

Breakfast was non-existent. One urn of coffee and one of hot water. Ran out of artificial creamer and NO real milk. Reception said 'oh well, the truck didn't deliver' instead of sending someone to the corner to get milk. REALLY not the way to start the day. Such a small amenity would have made a huge difference to my stay and my rating. If you have no breakfast, at least do coffee well.

System was down and waited 4 hours for check in. Was offered water while we waited. Checked into handicapped room at 11pm and electric blinds did not work requiring piling pillow up to block sun, exposed wires everywhere, filled holes in walls with patchy painting, poor customer service to resolve an awful check in

The Aloft Soho Square in Birmingham is a little tired. We have stayed there twice annually for four years (on our drive to and from Florida). We love the location but the hotel itself needs a facelift. On our last visit, we: could not get cold water in our bathroom, there was a leak beneath the sink on the floor, we were put in a handicap accessible room and we’re not handicapped, and the sliding door to the toilet took a weightlifter open and close it. Thankfully the staff was accommodating. It is also dog friendly which is a requirement for us.

Street Parking was great. Broken toilet, stained mattress in room 429.

DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL!!! I booked a four night stay 11-May to 15-May and paid in advance IN FULL through Expedia. My flight was delayed and I arrived on 12-May. I advised the hotel in advance that I would be delayed on the email address on their website and asked that they hold my reservation (no response). However, when I arrived they had cancelled my booking, resold the room and there were no other rooms available, so at midnight on 12-May I was turned away. The hotel had absolutely no care in the world that it was midnight and I had no where to stay that evening. It is clear the hotel suffered no financial loss as a result of my 'no show' on 11-May as they had already been paid and they resold the room. So actually they have been paid twice. However, they have refused to issue me with a refund. MOST APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Goes without saying I will never be using the Aloft chain of hotels again... I hope profiteering from my misfortune was worth it...

the rooms were very nice

This place was extremely overpriced for the condition of the room. The hotel was very old and dated. The shower knob was missing. The shampoo dispenser fell off the wall. The water from the shower travels all the way to the carpet at the hallway door. The electric blinds were wired backwards. The hallway lights had fluorescent bulbs falling out. The had two breakfast items on Saturday but none on Sunday, not that I would have eaten that garbage though. $450 for two nights was insane.
