A quick refuge from the west side of Austin (or AUS airport), I wouldn’t define as luxury, but certainly welcoming and satisfying, with the vibe of a mountaintop overlooking Texas hill country. Maitre de of restaurant a fine fellow, surprisingly delicious kale salad, good wine available. Room was comfortable, 8th floor gave great views of the countryside. Would definitely stay there again, especially if arriving in the afternoon or evening with plans to continue on the road next day.

Great restaurant/bar. Servers and bartender were very helpful and friendly. Front desk staff and valet were unhelpful and some seemed bothered if you asked them a question. Trying to contact the hotel by phone is impossible. This made for one of my worst hotel stays ever. I do want to say Luka was a big help though!

Although the hotel is situated slightly outside the city, it is wonderful—tucked away amidst peaceful, lush greenery; its Italian-style architecture is beautifully maintained and spotless. Room service, front desk, and restaurant services are prompt and friendly, while the valet service is generally good—provided if you can find a valet!!.

We stayed for 2 nights in a suite and it was exactly like the photos with great views from the balcony. It was well appointed. Our favorite thing was the deep soaking tub. The pool was also very nice. One pool and one hot tub with jets. My wife and I both had spa treatments, which were lovely. The only 2 things I could say to improve would be to have options for vegans on the menu in the restaurant. Also missing was the steam room wasn’t working and there was no water for the sauna. The front desk was very helpful for anything we needed.

It is a nice place with a winding drive up a Central Texas hill. Reminded me of The Shining. It’s a nice place with a good proximity to town and none of the spooky stuff. I would stay again.

Hotel Viata was a beautiful hotel in the Austin Hill Country, the views were amazing and the property is clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and friendly and very professional. The rooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant was very convenient and had a great breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.

We liked our suite with the soaking tub. The QR code for pool food service did not work so We could not get food even though it was advertised. We ordered dinner in our room, the focaccia bread was over toasted, the bolognese was so salty and the pasta was overcooked, the cannolis were unsweetened. Breakfast steak sandwich was flavorless. The food was super overpriced for the quality of food.

Housekeeping continues to be an issue. I stayed ten days and dust was visible. Trash wasn’t picked up completely, water wasn’t replenished, and sheets weren’t changed. Staff even left their working materials on the bathroom. Lighting is really bad. Shampoo dispenser didn’t work and wasn’t changed or repaired. Valet staff didn’t leave car outside when leaving early even when requested.

Everything and everybody was great. The only complaint was house keeping did not come until after 5pm. We had 3 of us with event in am and in pm to get ready for and needed towels, called to desk for towels, they never came. I ended up tracking down a housekeeper in the halls, exchanged dirty towels for clean, emptied our trash myself. House keeping knocked in our door as were were leaving around 530, didn't need them by then. Maybe they were short staffed? Other than that I absolutely loved this hotel.

The location is great for a corporate stay, but if you’re looking for activity around the hotel, there is none. The property is fairly dated. We’ve stayed there several times.. there has been no refurbishments over the last at least 3-4 years that we know of or can see. Also, we only had breakfast at the hotel, so I can’t comment on anything else, but the breakfast was never good.

This is a great hotel you stay at if it’s close and convenient to where you’ll be spending time during the day. Looks nice from the outside. Seems popular for weddings or parties (there were multiple on the same day). Complementary coffee in the lobby one morning. Very dated room interiors and filthy if you happen to look under any furniture.

There were a couple of staff members that were not pleasant. For the most part the staff was pleasant and accommodating, but they open tye kitchen at 7am when most hotels open at 6am, so I wondered down a little early and one of the servers seemed annoyed by this, I asked where the coffee was and his response was,”we’ll be open in a few minutes!”. The second instance: I was checking out and went to hand my keycard to the front desk agent, she pointed to a basket and looked at me with a condescending expression and said, “the keys go there.” All of f the other staff were great!

While the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, beware that if there is an onsite event they do not follow the sound ordnance prohibitions of West Lake Hills. We stayed over the weekend and they had two weddings scheduled where one had music blasting until 1:30 AM on Sunday. Normally I’m a heavy sleeper, but with the windows rattling it was impossible to rest. This tarnished an otherwise great stay at Hotel Viata.

After a long drive and expecting to check into the hotel we carefully planned for, being turned away at the front desk was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The staff arranged a “complimentary” stay at another hotel, but it was a noticeably lower-tier property and not comparable to what we originally booked or paid for. While I understand that mistakes can happen, overbooking guests who reserved months in advance is unacceptable for a hotel that positions itself as a high-end resort. The whole point of booking early is to avoid exactly this kind of situation. This completely ruined the experience we had planned and left a very negative first impression. If you’re considering staying here, just be aware that even confirmed reservations apparently don’t guarantee you’ll actually have a room when you arrive.

Great location within the hills of Austin. Really enjoyed the view from the room. The restaurant was very nice and the breakfast options were very tasty. The check in process was seamless and the front desk staff were friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortably, but they are not quite as updated as the pictures appear online [some stains on the carpets]. There are a few tricky non-disclosures, such as the breakfast restaurant charging $5 for coffee but not letting you know that you could bring the free complementary coffee that is being served a few feet away into the restaurant instead. Also we were offered "free parking" as a complimentary add-on, only to find out that every guest has the option for free parking in the garage. When we brought this up with the front desk after our car had already been valet parked [which we thought was included], we were just told sorry and charged the after hours fee anyways. This could have been handled much better.

It was in a good location and it had great views. The front desk staff were nice. Parking was convenient and was included with the room. On the surface, the room looked nice. Taking a closer look, it wasn't very functional. The bathroom had louvered doors, so there was no real privacy. There also was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. It was hit-or-miss getting the towels refreshed every night. The mini-fridge had 2 bottles of water when we arrived and those were supposed to be replaced every night but they weren't. There was only one chair in the room so one of us had to sit on the bed. We got a call from the front desk on our last full day there that they wanted to bring a sofa up since there had been one in there before, but we said to wait until we checked out because, frankly, we didn't know where there was enough space for a sofa anyway. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were too soft. They sunk in the middle.

Room was nice but ligting throughout was dark. Restaurant was limited in selections and had to send my pesto back. The bucatini was not fresh and drenched in sauce. The staff was kind. Breakfast service had the server's kids at a table by themselves while she worked. Noticeable due to the low customer count and the child clanking dishes and silverware from neighboring tables. Probably still out on Christmas break. Location was not ideal for us but not the property's fault. I would have preferred someplace with walkable venues.

The charged was excessive and poorly explained. We ended up paying usd300 for a hotel drothermal experience in a small bathtub were we could not fit at the same time and it was 45 minutes. It was a joke. Also the steam room was broken and only worked at 6.49pm and the spa amenities were closed at 7pm We chose this hotel to have a spa experience and we end up giving away 300 for nothing

Stains on carpet. Check in didn’t go well. The front desk lady was unfriendly. I left my wallet at home and did not have my ID. She did not offer ideas to solve this problem. Just kept telling me that I couldn’t check in. I went outside to get my husbands ID (my idea). When I returned she said my would have to come in. He is handicapped and has mobility issue. She insisted that she had to see him right then.

The hotel was pleasing to the eye. The room was spacious with a king size bed. Pillows were too soft, which made it uncomfortable to sleep. The shower was nice and large. The decor was beautiful. The only drawback was the thick pile of dust behind the bed frame and the corners of the room. Overall the room looked clean except for that area. There were some staff members that were pleasant but some that were not pleasant. I didn’t get a chance to use the spa service due to a busy schedule. The gym was well equipped. I was unaware the pool was heated. It would have been nice to get more information at check in on what great amenities the hotel offers. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to stay in Austin close to downtown but wants to avoid the city traffic.

Hotel Viata is a hidden gem in Austin! The location is perfect — close enough to the city to enjoy everything Austin has to offer, yet tucked away in a peaceful, scenic area that feels like a relaxing retreat. The hotel itself is elegant, clean, and welcoming, with wonderful amenities that make your stay extra comfortable. But the real highlight of my visit was Chandler, the hotel’s driver. He went above and beyond to make my stay seamless — from airport pickup and drop-off to taking me around town and even bringing me to another hotel for a conference. His service is incredibly professional, personable, and much more affordable (and pleasant!) than using Uber. He drives a spotless car and has such a charming, friendly personality that makes every ride enjoyable. If you’re staying at Hotel Viata, definitely ask for Chandler — he’s truly one of the hotel’s best assets!

The worst service I’ve encountered! I made reservations and paid. I showed to and the front desk young inexperienced guy said he was fully booked and he couldn’t help me. He talked to the manager after I showed him I paid and my reservations. He said they had to turn me away because they were sold out. So I left. They called and sent me a text asking me how my check in was. Umm, I didn’t. They asked me how my stay was going. Umm, I didn’t get to stay there. I will never step foot in this place. They lack customer service and it shows by the people they have hired and their awful systems in place. Go somewhere else!!!!

I stayed in a standard king room on the 7th floor. I was traveling solo, and I felt very secure due to the required card access for the elevators and ever-present staff on the ground floor of the hotel in the lobby and outside in the valet area. My room was also in the center of the hallway (meaning equal number of rooms to my left and right). I never heard a single door slam or a shower start or a tv turn on. It was QUIET — one of my top qualities when looking for a hotel. Everything about the hotel was simple (not ornate) but felt very luxe. I felt like I got my money’s worth!

Unfortunately we didn’t feel this to be a 4-star hotel experience. Location in the hills made for a great view and appearance of building inside and out was pleasing. The small details is what made this a mediocre visit. Elevator seemed to show age because the faux panels had chips and cut lines showed splintering. Outlet by coffee pot didn’t work so we had to move coffee pot to restroom in order to use. Wife said coffee was horrible. Room door made noises as if someone was trying to get in but it was housekeeping working at 4:30pm and as they slammed doors to nearby rooms the air pressure caused our door to move. I had to fold cardboard to stick in door to quiet the rattle. TV remote didn’t work properly. Laurel restaurant was very expensive based on the fact that entrees didn’t come with sides they had to be ordered as another billed item. The food was tasty but overall it was basic so we were disappointed. These details may seem minor to most clientele but when an average couple looks to pay a little more for a great experience those flaws stick out.

Great stay. My only concern was that I was charged incorrectly at checkout and told that it would take 5-7 days to give me my money back, “depending on my bank” which seemed to imply this was my fault. I don’t know why they couldn’t charge me correctly in the first place, it wasn’t a complicated stay with lots of charges. Otherwise, very happy.

ROOMS: The double beds are very small. Two adults were a tight fit. If you have more than 2 people, shoot for a king room/sofa bed room. Fridge is a beverage frig in which we were able to fit small snacks, a couple drinks and a small leftovers box. POOL: The pool was small in size, the water was murky and the steps needed cleaning. It could have spring water maybe? BUT the water was cool and refreshing after the hot sun. The jacuzzi was clear and hot. Chase lounges were comfortable and clean. Food ordered by the pool was good ($20 flatbed pizza, $8 beer, $10 fries fed 2 people). EXTRAS: Great fitness room. Fresh baked Lemon cookies in the lobby late afternoon. Yoga in the courtyard. Self Parking was very convenient. Front desk staff were all very friendly. I would recommend this for an adult couples get away or a girls weekend. Very few small children since the pool was not a swim park like most. Location is convenient to a grocery store, eating spots and downtown.

It all started at the front desk, where we were immediately greeted by Chris, our concierge, who spent all weekend going above and beyond to make sure we had all the comforts of home - and then some. The view was immaculate, the food was delicious, the room was first rate, and the bottle of wine in the suite was a cherry on top. A perfect location in the hill country that I’d recommend to anyone interested in a weekend getaway.

I do not mind the high prices, but I want high service. The restaurant was excellent. Except no one returned my call for room service. I had to go down to the restaurant to order. Sunday was spent at the pool. Food was not great. Staff excellent DJ played the same beat and that was ok until we went our room and get some rest. But could that same beat continue. I was on the 6th floor and could diffently hear the beat. The view and the friendly staff was excellent. Planning to try to come back in late August for my birthday. Hope to see everyone again Gary Flores

I hate to be this person but I have to be honest. My wife and I spent this Memorial weekend at Hotel Viata and we will not be returning. The check-in receptionist was great and curtious. The junior Robin suite was beautiful as expected. Where the problem begins is with the staff service. The tv remote did not work and we attempted to call for help several times and no one ever answered or returned our call. On Saturday we attempted to get some drinks at the bar inside the hotel, we were the only 2 people sitting on the bar. The bartender was so drunk he was slurring to the point I thought for a second he was speaking a different language. He never took our order and when his relief came in he never greeted us or acknowledged us for about 15 minutes and was slamming stuff around and cursing under his breath so we decided to leave. On the same day there was some kind of pool party going on majority of the day and when we finally had a chance to go into the pool along with other families with kids the place was absolutely trashed. There was empty bar cups, food, trash, and wet towels on almost every lounge bed. Seemed like nobody cared to bother cleaning up a bit after the pool party. There was also empty cups in the pool and eventually what convinced us to get out of the pool was a white blob of something floating in the water. There were other issues involved that I do not have room to type down. The hotel was beautiful but it was a complete disappointment.

I took my mini-poodle for walk after dark next to a densely wooded area and when we took our first step down the steps to a path, coyotes started yelping. Only a few at first but the second step more and louder yelping and what sounded like 20 to 30 yards away now sounded like 10 - 15 yards. We took one more step and it sounded like 15-20 coyotes and they were just yards away and moving toward us. I immediately backed up and away and we were out of sight of the coyotes, the yelping subsided and after about 15 seconds, the yelpng stopped. I feared if I'd taken that 4th step, the coyotes would've attacked my dog and possibly me. Everyone I mentioned to what happened acknowledged the coyotes, but were hesitant to say anything else. Does an attack have to happen before anything is done to protect the guests at Hotel Viata?

I just spent the weekend at the Viata. The grounds were lovely, and our room was spacious with a beautiful view. We rented a cabana and sat by the pool all day on Sunday, which was very relaxing. We hosted a birthday dinner at Laurel one evening, and everyone loved the food. Our dinner guests had easy access to the restaurant and to parking - no stressful drive downtown or struggle to park. We will be back! I highly recommend!

There was an offensive sewer gas smell coming from the toilet, and there was obviously something wrong with the water from the bathroom faucet as the taste was very bad. My travel companions were given a room across from me, and the sewer smell in their entire room was overwhelming and they had to move to a different part of the hotel. I received an unexpected $32 resort fee; this has never happened before as Expedia has always charged the full amount of the stay. This was a totally negative experience.

I was surprised with a $37.00 “Resort Fee” that I was told that it gave me access to certain amenities. I would prefer to “pay as you go” rather than assume I want access to those items I was told it covered. I don’t recall ever having to pay a certain fee for access to the swimming pool. By the way it was only 41 degrees the night I stayed, not much interested in that one. It makes it appear to be a “hidden room charge” since it is not reflected in the roomrate listed on the website.

However, our room's condition was disappointing. The carpet had multiple old stains and an unpleasant musty odor. The bathroom needed thorough cleaning. The bedding and pillows were old and discolored. The chairs were stained on the seat and back. At minimum the bedding could be brightened with a bleach wash. While we'd love to return to experience the hotel's many positives again, we would only consider staying in a different room next time and ensure it was always a pet free room. The property has great potential, but room maintenance needs improvement.

Now the negative, Although our room was good size, the carpet in the room needed replaced desperately. There were several large stains that were just gross. I did my best trying to cover them with our cooler and luggage but no hotel even a motel 6 should have carpet that bad. The cost for the room in my eyes was very overpriced. You are charged an “Resort Fee” which I’ve paid many times in the past, however with that it’s usually a very nice pool. The pool was nothing special. There was a bar for the pool, but the pool definitely was Not resort material. We tried to get a drink at the main bar one evening and the young women bartender seemed overwhelmed & unhappy, needless to say we didn’t get our drink. Overall the hotel was just way overpriced in my eyes and sadly I remember this stay as the hotel with the nasty carpet.

The hotel is visually very beautiful. However, I almost fell several times on the tiles in the bathroom on the floor and in the shower. Very much a liability risk if they read these reviews...some non slip mats are needed. It was a little jarring at the time. The fridge was not keeping things cold. The room service I ordered was pricey and was just frankly not good at all from a taste or temperature perspective. There were no customization options like adding cheese to your eggs on their website, etc. And I wasn't given any salt or pepper. And one final thing, the hotel has lots of wood around, and as you open doors and drawers around your room, there is a smell of "old", not quite mildew but just not new. Perhaps the room I was in had not been used in a while. But seriously, the hotel is visually stunning and the staff were exceptional. I did not visit the spa so I don't have a review of it. In the future, I would give them another try.
