Reviews
The Hotel Van Zandt receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating its modern feel, comfortable mattresses, and well-appointed bathrooms. The hotel's location near Rainey Street is praised for its proximity to bars and restaurants, but criticized for the noise level at night. The staff is generally commended for their friendliness and helpfulness, but there are some complaints about specific employees. Construction noise is a common issue mentioned in the reviews.

- Noise level at night from Rainey Street and construction
- Inconsistent staff performance

Close to Rainey street. Nice room, bathroom, bed etc..clean overall. Pool was a bit small for the number of guests.
- 4/5
I found that housekeeping took an exceptionally long time in getting to my room - quite often it wouldn’t be ready until after 4PM

One block from Rainer Street, nice view of the river. Hotel decor was very chic! Bed and sheets were luxurious, would definitely stay here again.

I was already happy with the services even before arriving based on a couple of phone call request. Angela the front desk staff was an absolute gem. Professional, kind, friendly, everything an employer would want from their employee. THANK YOU!! The property was beautiful, the decor and location were all great. We had a great time. Thank you Austin and thank you HVZ

Angelo was sooo nice he was very helpful at the front desk. Due to his excellent customer service I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel, nicely located near many desirable spots. Hotel itself is very nice high-end appearing and rooms were clean and modern. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend.

I’m not a rich man when I got there. The parking lot was full of Lamborghinis Ferrari and four GT’s but the staff treated me like I was a aching. The experience was really nice.

Providing beverage chips for guest to have a free coffee or adult beverage at the bar is a great added value. Having steamers instead of irons is also a plus. The mid century decor is very stylish and elegant. The in room coffee maker !

Great property, easy access to the freeways, from the moment you walk in and smell their fragrance it’s top of the line. I only stay there when I come into town.

This property is immaculate, the staff is amazing, the rooms are without question the best in Austin. The room service is great. Honestly that's why we keep coming back.

Excellent stay everything five stars best stay ever.
- 4/5
This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. You get two drink tokens on check-in and we got a $30 food/beverage credit as well, so those were nice extras. Geraldines is an excellent choice, with bougie food that doesn't disappoint. The only reason I'd give a 4-star review was the overall price and upcharges. $70 for one night for mandatory valet parking is absurd.

We loved our stay at hotel van zandt and will stay here again next time we are in Austin. The hotel staff are all incredibly kind and attentive. The room was spacious and comfortable. Location was perfect for walking around downtown and along the river walk. Cute decor! Zero noise from the downtown construction during our stay. One more mention for the staff - major props for being so nice, thank you! I should have brought my dog. Next time I will :) !

It’s a very artsy hotel. Rainy street is awesome.
- 3/5
False advertising, they claim "free bikes", nope. Supposed to be a luxury place, but feels like a regular hotel. Pool area is ok, rooms are ok, their amenities are inexistent, staff is great. Food is ok, their drinks are substandard. I would NOT book this, only as a " regular" hotel. Not worth any extra price. Good location, but there are better choices.
- 5/5
The hotel was wonderful. We loved that it is pet friendly. Our pet golden doodle loved it as well, we will be back.
- 3/5
From the reviews, we expected more from Hotel Van Zandt. Instead, we just had too many inconveniences (no room service the first day, no water one morning, late opening of the breakfast restaurant). Also, while the dark atmosphere appears to follow their trendy theme, it also appears to mask some cleanliness issues.
- 5/5
Clean, conveniently located and helpful friendly staff. The rooftop pool was the star, we loved it. Great tunes, bar service and great food from Geraldine’s

Loved the stay at this property. Unique decor, helpful staff and great location. Highly recommend this place.

The location is great, restaurants and amenities are fantastic. Staff is very friendly. A 70 dollar mandatory overnight valet fee seems high. Especially as self parking is not available and with two small kids, remote parking was not an option.

Great location. Restaurant food excellent and live music outstanding
- 4/5
Room was clean and fairly quiet but we had to keep calling the desk or housekeeping to get items like towels, coffee, soaps as they would not consistently restock. Food selection was minimal at the restaurant and difficult to get attention from bartenders and servers. Pool area was very small and there was no shuttle service. Also put 150$ per night surcharge on your card which they won't tell you about ahead of time - more than luxury resorts we've stayed at! The resort fee was 45$ per day and doesn't include much beyond pool access and one free drink. The location and decor were the upsides.

The in room dining breakfast was delicious. Geraldine's restaurant was phenomenal. Clean rooms and helpful staff.

The pool looked nice, but wasn’t available to guests. Same with the restaurant. Pool was closed; restaurant was closed for multiple days. Sold off to private events they don’t tell you about in advance. Beware. You might not get what’s advertised. Room decor is tired and dark.

- 5/5
Had shrimp and grits on Saturday night at the Upstairs bar it took a little bit too long, but the woman that brought it to me was very apologetic, which there was no need. I had no problem waiting, as the bar service was great and the band was great. I like to tip the Valet guys, so I went to the ATM on the lobby level, and the lights that are on the ground to the left to the right of the ATM shine up, making it hard to read the keys, push buttons on the actual ATM machine Other than that, the Van’s zt, Spot on as usual Might be back there next weekend or the weekend after
- 3/5
Would recommend booking after their restaurant renovation is complete if you want R and R. Construction starts at 7am sharp. When the issue was brought up to their staff, they were well aware and construction as well as noise resumed the very next morning without delay.

Clean room, they seemed understaffed due to SXSW that week, the desk would answer 50/50 of the time if I called for room service valet etc
- 4/5
Room was amazing, so comfortable and spacious with everything you'd need including toiletries that were really nice. Really good coffee machine in the room and also a great cafe downstairs. The staff here were incredible and we got to borrow bikes to ride along the river - the location is excellent if you want to be able to enjoy the nature of Austin by the river as well as downtown. There was building work outside unfortunately which meant there was noise starting in the morning. The pool was also closed and we weren't informed of this - as we had booked a place specifically to include a pool for our honeymoon this was really disappointing.
- 5/5
Great stay during SXSW. Cool vibe, great service, proximity to everything.

Lobby is nice but rooms need attention. AC worked on and off and carpet appeared worn. I wanted to charge my car over night but no one seemed to know how to help me. We attempted to use the QR code to call for our car and it didn’t work three times. I reserved the larger room on hotels.com but did not get that room. $15 complimentary money can not be spent in room. Was told different when I arrived.

First, they could not find my reservation— I was in a hurry and it already took an extra 30 minutes to get there due to the construction traffic and closed streets. Valet took forever as there was a line because you couldn’t self park because of construction. Finally found it. The entire weekend was a nightmare with the parking/valet and leaving the place. We were late to our reservations all weekend because it took us 30-45 minutes to just get our car and get out of the area. These restaurants were only 10-15 min away. We were not able to get Ubers at all… assuming because of the construction hassle. I travel to Austin monthly, will never return to this hotel again sadly… they honestly should have made parking free and alerted customers of the construction—- because I would not have booked. It was extremely frustrating! All of it.

Have been all over the world. First place I have stayed where our expectations were trashed at the very beginning. No pool and no Geraldine’s. This could have been mentioned prior to the reservation and showing up shocked.
- 4/5
I loved that they serve margaritas or some cocktail as your checking in and if I was of age I would completely taken advantage of that , that’s amazing. For such a small property I don’t see why they can’t get delivery carts for in room service we good the food in bags and I could DoorDash for that. The cafe needs more options if your gonna be charging 13 dollars for a croissant please add more options, and they said I had a 15 dollar credit but when I saw my receipt I felt like it wasn’t even applied.

I feel like we should've been told that geraldines was not available due to a private event, and that our suite faced a gross parking lot. There were only 6 items available for in room dining and no beverages. No desserts either. When we door dashed dessert, we had to come down to get it ourselves instead of someone bringing it out to us. In the morning, 620 cafe did not have any eggs/bacon or any other hot plates. Just coffee and pastries. In room dining had hot food, but we had to go down to get a latte. I'm not paying for delivery and service, then have to go get my own latte anyway. The room is fine, I just don't feel like I got 4 star suite service. Disappointing since the hotel was THE destination, not just somewhere to sleep.

The room was spotless, the bathroom was clean. They offered some good welcome drinks and a discount on drinks in the room. The only think I did not like is they valet parking price, 67 dollars per night is a bit too expensive. I would suggest they lower that price for the guests.

Room was fantastic, the Isolde was a mix of old and new. Hallways were dim and winding which I thought was a cool touch.

One of my favorite hotels! Location is great, beautiful hotel, and the staff, AMAZING!
- 4/5
Hotel was very modern and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Just a couple of things to keep in mind prior to booking is overnight parking costs and resort fees because it was an additional cost of $200+ for the two nights we stayed and take pictures of minibar because we were charged for candy we did not take.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, comfy beds, nice bars/ restaurants. Pricey for drinks though.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing: facilities, staff, room, location. Very cool hotel. Would definitely recommend.
- 5/5
My new favorite place to stay in Austin. Loved the vibe, lobby and suite.
- 4.5/5
Great location. Few minute walk to historic rainy Street. awesome lobby. Very friendly check-in staff with complementary margaritas. The bed and particularly the bed headboard vibrated when the air-conditioning was on. Had to keep it off for the stay. In order to sleep. I also did not like the available creamer for the coffee in the room. I did not mind that it was in a strange paste format, but it contained sugar, and I do not like sugar in my coffee, and there were no other creamer options in the room.
- 4/5
Clean room, good Breakfast coffee and pastries. As well as good lunch at Brass Poppy Bar.
- 5/5
Breakfast convenient and tasty but not free — $15/day not enough to cover breakfast. We paid $30 amenity fee, plus tax, per day, for breakfast allowance and 1 daily margarita. We liked the hotel — room, lobby, vibe, Rainey Street and river nearby. We would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great hotel but the area is currently under construction - not as cute as some other areas. The restaurant and cafe were convenient and good.
- 5/5
Clean room and beautiful hotel
- 2/5
The bed is absolutely terrible-hard and uncomfortable. Pillows and linens were less than desirable. I was not able to sleep well either night of my stay. The water temperature in the shower was lukewarm at best. For such an extremely expensive hotel I would expect a more comfortable stay. Additionally, I received added charges at check out that I was not aware of when I completed the reservation.

The room wasn’t cleaned properly. They were doing some sort of renovation that produced a strong chemical smell and I was traveling with my 1 year old so I was a bit concerned… breakfast was LOVELY! The hotel over all looked good, they just need to step up the cleaning. Pay attention to the details.
- 5/5
Like the hotel a lot.
- 3/5
Better lighting. Room too dark. Bathroom light couldn’t find switch to turn on. No place to get cup of tea in the evening. In room dining. No choices for vegan or vegetarian. Needs to add to menu.

Very special hotel and don’t miss the restaurant, it’s a lovely surprise!
- 2/5
They did comps the $35 hotel fee and parking for the broken shower. Margaritas at check in was nice. Location is good. Probably wouldn’t stay there again though
- 3/5
Clean room. Overload of retail items to be bought in the room! Ridiculous amount of exorbitant products. Very near to an enormous building site, so very difficult/ dangerous to walk from the hotel to downtown. Lots of boards, hoarding everywhere, unbelievably noisy. Very shocked to discover so much construction around the hotel. Real shame as we planned this stay months ago and thought it would be perfect for 4 of us in our family. The restaurant was closed for breakfast and not much choice in a walkable distance. Very overpriced
- 5/5
Loud property lot of clubs close by so just be aware. Great place to stay swanky and all that.
- 5/5
staff was SO kind and welcoming, I was truly taken back. It’s been so long that I’ve been met with such a wonderful experience at a hotel and that too simply because the staff just smiled and did their best to make our stay wonderful. 5 stars all for the staff! Hotel was comfortable and nice. Surrounding area was great despite the construction. Hope to visit again!
- 4/5
Most the trip was good but they didnt have any parking in the garage so we had to park blocks away for 70$ Also this hotel has many additional fees on top of the normal fees lf taxes and such. With parking - expect to pay nearly 200 in fees.

- 5/5
Very nice property with a laid back rock-n-roll vibe. Great bars and restaurants in and close by the hotel. Only complaint is the construction around the area makes it a little difficult to get into the property.

First, the lighting was AWFUL. There was good natural light in the day but once it went out the lights in the room were all a dull/muted yellow and made it very difficult to do makeup or anything to get ready for an evening out. The bed faced the large window overlooking a parking structure in construction while the TV was located on a wall to the right of the bed. This made watching TV in bed pretty uncomfortable. I've only ever stayed at hotels where the TV was mounted in the wall directly across from the bed so this was weird/impractical. We booked the room for the standalone tub which was placed right in front of a giant window overlooking the aforementioned parking structure. There was a sunshade you could pull down but would still provide a nice clear silhouette for anyone looking into the room from outside (we were on the 3rd floor so this wouldn't be difficult to do). There was no additional covering in the bathroom besides that sunshade so I was uncomfortable Finally, the AC was pretty awful. If worked but it was positioned so the air poorly circulated. It also conked out our last night there but repaired quickly

Food is expensive and not good. Water stations were empty. It’s dark and uninviting. Staff is mediocre. It’s fancy with no substance.
- 5/5
We loved our stay here. Staff and service were excellent and has a great vibe. Would definitely stay here again if we were back in the area. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
Fun place
- 5/5
We didn't like that breakfast isn't offered in room. Because of that we were unable to use our food credit so that was a waste.
- 5/5
Excellent stay! This property is pure luxury—stylish and beautifully designed interiors with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The bar is outstanding, serving top-notch drinks in a vibrant yet elegant setting. Everywhere was spotless, and the rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The check-in experience was unforgettable—greeted with a welcoming margarita that set the tone for an amazing stay. Highly recommend! 🌟
- 5/5
Incredibly friendly staff. Clean grounds. Nice rooms and really close to fun spots. And the water pressure was great which is worth noting.
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is absolutely stunning. The food at Geraldine’s was amazing and so was the music!!!!
- 5/5
Decor . They offered water and margaritas on arrival
- 4/5
The hotel staff was helpful and courteous. We enjoyed the food and music at Geraldine's. Only negative was an bad allergic reaction to the hand soap. Next time will bring my own.
- 5/5
I wish I got to have time to try the food, just was busy or catching up on so much needed rest as I was using this as a staycation as ann Austin local with my boyfriend. Overall, the atmosphere was great, room was great. Could use more shelf or drawer space for clothes Room Service could go for more hours, Bar close a lot later and open sooner, other than that love it. Super nice. Wish I could get another night since I didn’t get to use the pool, but maybe I’ll check it out later if I get late check out, which I wish there was a little bit cheaper or given a day pass. ? I love the glass shower however, a door would’ve been nice and water got on the ground.. shampoo/conditioner was super nice and the robes were my favorite I’ve had. One of my favorite parts was the margarita is given to you in the beginning AND Yeti !! Another favorite part was the concierge texting me throughout the trip to make reservations or plan certain activities. Next time I’ll be sure to take advantage of all the amenities. I didn’t have time to (extend my trip tomorrow perhaps ;)) I think also a lot of the table space was covered with food and could have been put in the cabinet which again could use more space for cloths Overall, 7.5/10 and would love to come back to use the amenities so I can write you a good review via blog :)

My first time visiting this hotel at Austin Texas. I absolutely love the hotel and I enjoyed the experience of coming down to stay for my weekend trip. The hotel is clean and beautiful and the staff are definitely the best. My room was amazing and seeing the view from above! I Thank you guys for this and I look forward to seeing y'all again!
- 5/5
From the time you arrive, the staff, makes you feel very welcome. Every single one of them, very kind and willing to help. Thank you for such a wonderful experience <3
- 5/5
great hotel great location
- 4/5
Everything was amazing loved the staff was super welcoong. Construction could get annoying at times in terms of traffic.
- 5/5
Check in was fast and efficient.
- 5/5
Across from electric shuffle on Rainey street.
- 4/5
I’d probably never go back to the bar at the hotel though. The bartender, Sean, was nice but I think he overcharged me for a Tito’s and soda ($15).
- 5/5
Outstanding experience!
- 5/5
The best
- 3/5
The aesthetics were wonderful. It is a beautiful hotel, well-styled, in a perfect location. The bed was very uncomfortable from mattress, to bedding, to pillows. We ended our stay 2 nights early because we got such poor sleep on the bedding that desperately needs to be updated.
- 5/5
Great experience overall.
- 5/5
Service and room was great and clean
- 5/5
Very cool and funky hotel! Great staff, loved the restaurant and enjoyed the room.
- 5/5
Had a great trip with the family! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Good vibes all around!
- 5/5
Great place, great people and best of all very peaceful.
- 5/5
Great property all around. Staff was A+
- 5/5
Love this hotel and the area it located in
- 5/5
Great place. Really liked it. Recommend to any and everyone.
- 1/5
I neve visited this place
- 4/5
Food was great. Great location. Comfortable bed
- 4/5
It was a sophisticated stay for a late 40s couple traveling from Houston for a weekend away. Hotel staff was nice and very helpful and we enjoyed the welcome margaritas. The hotel has a great location and very close to many things to walk to. We did not eat in the restaurant, but had drinks at the lobby bar and it was nice. Drinks were delicious, but pricey both in lobby and at the pool lounge. The Bartender recommended a great restaurant downtown for dinner, J. Carver’s. The Pool was smaller than I expected (pictured online it looks bigger) but it had a fun vibe with music, plenty of sun loungers and an outdoor bar with food options. The Service was great there too. No drip coffee, only fancy Nespresso available in the room and a coffee shop in the lobby. Coffee there was good, but again expensive and had to wait to be served. Carafe of drip coffee in the lobby would be nice. Overall great trip and very few children, good upscale adult scene. Valet parking only for a hefty fee.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 1/5
I woke up with bites on my ankles bed bugs!!! YIKES
- 5/5
excellent
- 5/5
Hotel!
- 5/5
Really made my husbands birthday special!
- 5/5
We are locals who came for a spa day on a night out here we could get a good rate, well worth it!
- 4/5
Not the properties fault, but there is some construction on nearby buildings. Valet parking is convenient but pricey. Ice machines are only on every other floor.
- 5/5
It’s very well situated and very trendy. I really enjoyed the ambience and the service.
- 2/5
The room is not clean. The bedding smells. The restaurant I got the main course before the appetizer. And the appetizer was cold. Most staff feels like college kids. The place is like a college dorm.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Love staying
- 5/5
The hotel was more than exceptional. I enjoyed the staff, the pet friendliness, and the perks. We will be back.
- 5/5
me gustaría qué el restaurante estuviera abierto mas tiempo
- 5/5
Best hotel in Austin hands down, will only be staying here when I visit.
- 2/5
Toilet that started to explode in the middle of the night. No accommodations or empathy to the middle of the night disruptions. Then credits won’t appear on the statement, even when asked they never tell you the caveats.
- 5/5
Amazing place to stay in Austin. Great vibe, super friendly staff, fantastic pool. Lot’s of construction nearby, but still easily walkable to food and parks. Will stay here again on our next trip to Austin.
- 4/5
This is not a bad thing, but for me it was overall very dark and I had a challenge with menus etc. BTW I wear glasses, am 69 and don't see well in dark.
- 4/5
Loved this place, great decor and staff. The on-site restaurant is delicious and reasonably priced given the quality and atmosphere. The pool is small but clean and fun. Water pressure in shower was excellent, doorless shower so wet bathroom floor. Biggest complaint is aggressive motion sensor air conditioner in room. Got very hot at night.
- 5/5
The hotel is great for a little getaway. In the heart of the city yet it feels like its own place. Staff is amazing and the food onsite makes it hard to leave.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 5/5
The location and the nightly live music! The service was great!!
- 5/5
The hotel was fabulous. The customer service outstanding and the smiles on faces started our days of smooth. Cold water and fresh Food were appreciated. Cannot recommend enough. The hotel is VERY convenient to comedy mothership.
- 4/5
Small bathrooms but amazing shower pressure. Terrible towels for such a nice hotel. Decor is super nice. The pool/restaurant level with live music inside the Gabriella's is great. Bar on entry level is unbelievable with great bar tenders, ambiance, privacy and comfort
- 5/5
Love the staff. Friendly and helpful. Can’t recommend the hotel enough. I celebrated my birthday and received fantastic hospitality!!!
- 4/5
Great value for the location. Room overlooked Town Lake. It gets a lot of traffic & it shows. Needs a refresher but I would stay here again. Elevator situation is bad, so try to get a lower floor.
- 5/5
Nice hotel!!
- 5/5
Great stay
- 3/5
Unfortunately our stay was not what it could have been. The decor and vibe of the Hotel was awesome. However, the visit to the lobby bar was less than desirable, bartender was unfriendly and she seemed uninterested in providing pleasant customer service. On the up side the complimentary margaritas upon check-in were very tasty! My biggest concern with this hotel experience was the lack of follow-through regarding an issue in our room. I called for assistance with the electronics in the room, as they were not working correctly and was told someone would be up to assist. However, no one ever showed up or called to follow-up. We travel frequently so this lack of basic follow-up and customer service was disappointing for this type of hotel.
- 4/5
Love the location, restaurant hostess was grumpy!
- 5/5
The customer service is unrivaled! From management to cleaning people, everyone is so friendly and accommodating.Margaritas or refreshing water offered upon check in. Nice, clean, comfortable hotel with coffee and fridge in the room. Great views of the lake. Valet parking is a little pricey but we found it to be so convenient it was worth it. Special shout out to Jared and Carissa who took such good care of us. There's a long haired gentlemen that is a valet who made our trips around town fun and informative ( so sorry, didn't catch his name but he is a keeper). Highly recommend the Van Zandt!
- 5/5
Great place - fun Sunday Jazz brunch!
- 3/5
The place was great despite the $62.00 parking and the dog barking int the room next door. Staff were great otherwise.
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Close to Rainy Street
- 4/5
It was a nice, clean, and comfortable place and staff was very good. My complaint is that the extra fees that get put on at the end of the stay that you are not told about. Also, the parking is very expensive. After the first night, I used a parking app to find cheaper parking nearby.
- 5/5
Great experience
- 5/5
Liked roof top pool and bar
- 5/5
Our family of four enjoyed our visit
- 3/5
Great layouts and vibe, but they charge $70 a night for parking and there is construction everywhere!
- 3/5
We really wanted to like Hotel Van Zandt but it was just okay.
- 5/5
Everything was clean, and the room service did a fantastic job. We will definitely visit here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and pool area
- 5/5
Nice staff
- 5/5
This property was amazing, fun atmosphere and setting.
- 5/5
truly a great hotel experience!
- 1/5
Noise unbearable. Left property.
- 5/5
Everyone (Everyone!) on the staff that we interacted with is very upbeat, high energy and helpful!
- 3/5
not enough staff
- 5/5
This hotel is in the best spot. Super convenient and close proximity to everything you want to experience in Austin.
- 5/5
all great
- 5/5
We loved this hotel. It’s chic, well decorated, excellent restaurants and bars. The pool has a wonderful vibe. Definitely will stay here again.
- 5/5
It is a lovely hotel where all of the staff are helpful and friendly!
- 3/5
True boutique hotel. The absurd $150 hold a night for incidentals is a tad too much. There is nothing too unique that would warrant such a hold. Also the “resort” fee of $25 a night for facilities and accommodations in the hotel is also nonsense. The rates themselves aren’t the cheapest so what am I really paying for! It’s giving that they are looking for anything to charge a fee. The cleaning of the rooms daily can use some work. After two days out of the four the toilet ranked and began to make water rings around the edges. I’m convinced they just made the bed, and put new towels. The work being done around the property should be a reason to lower prices until they are done. They claim to have nightly live music but that too is also a fee. However, that being said the area in which the hotel is located is pretty centralized. Food and bars are easily accessible. They have a pretty hospitable front desk staff and valet attendants. Would I stay again… probably not. Nothing really stood out for me but overall a nicely designed hotel
- 5/5
Great Property !!! High Parking but still great !!
- 1/5
Note, we did not have cametas in the room. But know it was missing. We would never stay there again.
- 5/5
It does get noisy at night with all the bars near the hotel. Most of them had live music during SXSW. It didn’t bother us but is worth noting.
- 5/5
Nice upscale Hotel in the heart of the action. On the downside a bit noisy at night, the hotel apparently recognizes that and in the rooms we stayed in there were white noise machines for sleeping which were a huge help. Staff is well trained and very friendly.
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 5/5
I checked in Thursday, got married at a location nearby Friday, and my husband joined the stay the following few days. This hotel was absolutely amazing. I felt so cared for, and celebrated by the team here. From checking in, till leaving. They were absolutely amazing! I would stay again. Hotel Van Zandt has a special place in heart during our special moment. Thank you so much.
- 3/5
No room service breakfast is a big problem for a luxury hotel. Room service starts at 4pm. Also this is the second time they were an hour late having the room ready and didn’t allow a later check out. I’ll choose a different hotel next time for those reasons.
- 5/5
Incredible hotel with wonderful amenities and friendly staff. Excellent walkable location. Pool rooftop and bar with nice river view. Daily margaritas was a fun touch. Perfect beautiful well situated hotel for a very pleasant stay at SXSW. Will absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful property great staff great food many options all close by walk or ride
- 5/5
Margaritas at check in sets tone only goes up there
- 2/5
Building surrounded by construction. Shower had no hot water. Front desk never sent anyone to look into the situation.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Van Zandt. Really solid amenities (sparkling water provided at both check-in and check-out, excellent toiletries, and even a white noise machine in the room which I’ve never seen before). The service was also really positive. In particular I really appreciated the luggage service I received from Presley. He really went above and beyond on a super windy day to help deposit my suitcases into the cab. Overall a very positive experience!
- 4/5
Valet Parking was hit or miss- sometimes got car quick; other times took close to an hour.
- 5/5
The place was loud due to the bars outside of our room, but we expected it because of the central location. However, the real issue was waking up to a false fire alarm. Multiple alarm sirens and alerts went off, forcing us to climb down the stairs to the back alley at 3:30 AM. It was cold, and we were the only two there at that time. No one notified us or checked on us at all. We ended up losing 4 hours of sleep.
- 4/5
A upscale more modern hotel, looks like it’s had recent renovations. The only thing I would suggest is brightening up the rooms. Each room felt extremely dark and like a man cave. We had a larger suite, beds were comfortable, but pillows were flat and like I said, even with curtains fully opened, it was so dark in our room.
- 5/5
Good people good food within walking distance and excellent atmosphere
- 3/5
($63 overnight parking, $30 amenity's fee… “recovery fee” ?, city tax, Texas tax) the service elevators are not working so they use the guest’s, therefore there are dirty floors, old towels, they did not clean up the room one day and when we asked they said it was too late… shower temperature varies constantly… I could go on. Not too bad for a hotel with a third or less of their price but definitely not for what you pay… we will never come back
- 3/5
It's bad enough that the hold area was under construction but our floor was littered with fans and bliwers from a water issue. The Hallways are small and dark. Hard Pass next time.
- 4/5
They neglected to tell me that they had a flood over the previous weekend and had large fans and humidifiers running on my floor 24 hours per day outside my room
- 5/5
The hotel is very hip and in a great location. The weather while there was unseasonably chilly and unfortunately, the hotel lobby stayed cold. The staff were wonderfully attentive. The ice machines were somewhat hard to find in the dark, moody hallways.
- 3/5
But hotel staff rose to the occasion apologized and gave me a full refund and comped by food I had ordered. Many guests were unkind to staff and there was the Austin Marathon in a few hrs . So wow
- 3/5
We loved our room but other than that the hotel was average and where it was at had soooo many homeless people
- 5/5
Clean and well kept. Definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Nice weekend getaway for my husband and I.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Traveling with massive dogs is hard finding pet friendly places! This hotel is super dog friendly even with my 189 pound dog!!
- 5/5
First time and upgraded to suite. The bathroom is as pictured. I only wish there were more amenities in a $500/night room like a robe, slippers and more vanity items- like no body lotion and only 1 bar soap! There should be more in the room than the standard. But in all I did enjoy my stay immemsely!
- 1/5
I like the hotel but the carpeted were dirty and smelly I couldn’t remain in the hotel..
- 5/5
Beside that everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. The location is a short drive to all locations around town. The place is very luxury modern. I would definitely stay here again
- 5/5
Hotel Van Zandt was a great place to stay. Access to food trucks and restaurants was perfect, and you can easily walk to many parts of the city. I would highly recommend it.
- 5/5
Lived the proximity to the lake and the restaurants in the area.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel
- 5/5
Loved it all
- 5/5
The hotel was great and the staff and service were excellent.
- 5/5
Parking was way too expensive. Otherwise the stay was great.
- 5/5
We were in town for a volleyball tournament and had a great stay! I can’t get over how wonderful the hotel smells & you get free margaritas!! We had breakfast at the 602 which was quick and had some healthy options and snacks for our day. We even got to experience Geraldine’s one night after a long day of playing and really enjoyed the food and live music!
- 5/5
Great boutique hotel w awesome music flare. Convenient location by the river and convention center.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Staff very attentive and very helpful
- 5/5
Great hotel staff was so friendly rooms large and food was great
- 5/5
Staycation
- 5/5
Nice place
- 5/5
Good lord! This place is amazing; from the lobby to the restaurants and bars to the pool area to the rooms to the views. Absolutely perfect.
- 3/5
ok
- 5/5
Hi
- 4/5
It is a lot of construction around. Noise
- 5/5
This hotel has a truly unique and quirky atmosphere while also seeming welcoming and approachable. The amenities snd staff are great, especially in the Brass Poppy bar. It’s one of our favorite Austin hotels!
- 5/5
Very nice place
- 5/5
Every single member of the staff was outstanding.
- 3/5
Parking on site is pricey and dur to construction parking offsite is difficult.
- 5/5
Cons: There is a fair amount of construction in the area and parking at the hotel will set you back $60 per night.
- 5/5
Valet is the most efficient thing I’ve ever seen
- 3/5
The staff was wonderful. However, the experience suffers due to a lack of certain amenities. Pet friendly but no place close for a doggie to do its business. Water should be available on each floor, free coffee station (Holiday Inn even has that). $66/day parking. For some people that is 2 hours of pay. I feel chiseled. Was this place sold to private equity? It used to be better.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Charge Resort Fees (which is fully disclosed) but has benefits they dont disclose. When you check out you find this out but staff just makes excuses. Overall, just better hotels in downtown AUS. However the restaurant is very good.
- 5/5
Lots of construction around the property.
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and accommodating.
- 4/5
Gorgeous hotel, great amenities. Incredibly loud due to the proximity of Rainey St - would stay again during the week but the weekend, even with the white noise machine provided in the room and earplugs wasn’t able to get much sleep.
- 4/5
I thought it was good overall. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a bathtub, so I chose this hotel because they have tubs in the pictures. But it was clean - the towels were noticeably aged, so I gave a 4 for cleanliness. The staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable, and the food was good!
- 3/5
A one night stay with two vehicles parked is over $400. I was charged by Expedia for the room and “resort” fee. Then got hit with $163 more at the hotel for parking and guest amenity fees. This hotel is not a resort. The hotel is very nice and the room was comfortable but the fees are kind of ridiculous. The staff is very nice but I would not stay here again because of all the extra fees.
- 5/5
Great hotel!!
- 5/5
The great hospitality and fragrance used in the hotel. The amenities in the room
- 5/5
The property was amazing. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Great lobby bar, great rooms. Just an all around wonderful stay. We will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay, the place was beautiful and the staff was friendly. I plan to stay there again when I go back.
- 4/5
A lot of construction outside, but the hotel was a perfect stay! Very nice hotel that was the perfect get a way we needed. Would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
It was really nice to be able to get text answers to questions I had. Will definitely stay again!
- 1/5
I accepted the offer and was told to book the room online through Expedia, where they would "note" my account. I followed the instructions and booked a stay for 11/8, then went back to the front desk, where I was reassured, everything was good to go. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. After completing my two-night stay in November, I checked out and asked for a receipt. I was told it would be emailed to me, and the front desk clerk confirmed that I would only be charged for valet parking. Two days later, I checked my account, only to find I was charged the full amount for the stay. I contacted the hotel and spoke with Pauline/Victoria from management for three days, and after much back-and-forth, they agreed to refund one night. This was unsatisfactory, and I expressed my frustration with the situation. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and unsatisfactory resolution of my issue has left me completely disappointed. I would expect much better service from a hotel at this price point.
- 5/5
Love everything about the Van Zandt! Gorgeous room and hotel.
- 3/5
If you need to be up by 630 then don’t worry but pls know there’s major construction all around.
- 5/5
Wonderful staff
