Reviews
The hotel is praised for its historic charm, excellent location, and friendly staff. However, many guests express dissatisfaction with the cleanliness, outdated amenities, and noise levels.
- Historic charm and character

With some improvements in housekeeping standards and guest amenities, this could be a much better experience. The hotel has great potential, but currently falls short in a few important areas.

For the value the property is perfectly adequate. Staff was available if needed. The rooms are as quaint as they were when the hotel opened in the late ‘70’s. The location is the real asset of this hotel, you are right in the middle of all Winter Park activities.

Old hotel, small rooms with minimal amentities. We arrived a day early by mistake. My error. They, however, would not let us use our reservation the day we arrived even though they had the same room available and made us pay for an additional day. We stayed one night and had to pay for two.

Termites in room on bed. Showed staff and they agreed it was termites. They said they would credit one night. More termites Saturday and Sunday. Will not book with hotels.com. Great location and nice staff but hotel very old. No water in room, no safe and old elevator slow; carried large luggage up stairs. Do not post and hope hotels.com does credit my account. No a person to complain but it was a dirty hotel. So disappointed and not a happy customer.
- 3/5
Great location, but very overpriced for what you get. Valet is parking is very misleading. When checking out was told it was too early for valet parking and told where my vehicle “should” be. 2 block walk in the dark at 5AM in a town I do t know is not what I expected for valet parking for which I was already charged. The desk attendant refused to remove the charge and was rude. To their credit, when I arrived home, I did call. They apologized and refunded one day of parking.

Nice staff, good air conditioning but other than that not much to write home about. Room furnishings looked like they were bought at a garage sale.

The whole place needs TLC. Staff could not possibly be nicer. It is time for a small fridge in the rooms, … crucial nowadays. Again, we love the place and love the staff. It’s definitely time for a little updating

This 104 year old hotel holds the most beautiful architectural and original design in excellent preservation ! Even the cute antique elevator. The fact that it’s in the historical Winter Park area it gives a sense of and enchanted village, train station mear the hotel picks up passengers near à beautiful garden clean street and landscaping . Very safe area to walk and visit all the cute shops and restaurants . Definitively will revisit in spring again .

We loved this hotel- the ambiance was rustic and sweet. The staff really went out of their way to help and inform us. We were able to take our car from the valet guys as many times as we needed and they always brought it to us with a kind attitude. They have a fridge that they are willing to let you store items in and they would get us our items whenever we needed. Really great people who worked there. We'll come back!!

All the staff were amazing. They were very attentive and wanted to make sure you stay was the best. It could be very knowledgeable about the area made suggestions about restaurants and they were all good. The place is a beautiful old hotel.

Excellent location! Across from Central Park. 24 hour parking available in the back of the hotel for $20. Easy walk to shops, restaurants and museums. Loved sitting outside on the balcony. Enjoyed the old world feel of the hotel room, which was spacious and comfortable. FYI no fridge, no microwave and no safe…which didn’t matter to us. The a/c was perfect for hot days and I was happy the floor was wood and not carpet.

Beautiful boutique hotel in downtown Winter Park. We enjoyed the balcony overlooking Park Street. Also the hotel is connected to a fantastic restaurant and pub. It’s a throwback to old Florida.

Its my 3rd stay in this hotel bec irs located in front of the park where all the shops & restaurants are but since its an old hotel theres a musty smell & the cleaning products brewing used though i can tell that its lemony but giving weird pee smell. I also wish they add personal fridge in each room for guests convenience.

It is a very unique hotel. The history is awesome and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room is small and quaint. The bathroom is very small and the bed was not comfortable. If you are young and like to be in the center of things happening in winter park., it’s a fun place to stay.
- 5/5
The air confitioning worked very well and it was very quiet.

I have stayed here for years. Love the place.
- 4/5
This hotel was very charming and appealed to the history fan in me. Check-in was very easy and the location is great. My only complaint is that the communal iron and ironing board were in poor condition, which was surprising since you'd think the one pair of items that everyone has access to would be maintained well or replaced as needed.
- 3.5/5
The reviews don’t lie, it is very loud! There was a train that continued through the night, a concert in the park across the street, and we could hear the guests in the room next-door snoring. If that’s a deal breaker for you, don’t stay here!

This hotel thinks that just because you book a room on a non-refundable rate that it means that they should be okay with accepting black mold that shoots out of your AC unit that is right over your head onto your pillows. They also think that it is okay to lie about the unit being brand new, when it is clearly very old. They also think that it’s okay to lie about accommodating me by switching me to another room when they told me they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate me. When I continued to push and told them I couldn’t stay there and breathe that in, they then told me they would move someone else into the room that I was requesting to be removed from. I reiterated that they told me they were fully booked so how is that possible?! “Oh we will just put someone else in that room who hasn’t checked in yet” is what I was told. I told them I didn’t feel comfortable with them putting some other innocent guest in a room that clearly has health hazards. Clearly they do not care about the health and safety of their guests, nor do they care about morals or ethics. Do not stay here. The hotel reeks of mold and nut from the second you walk in the door, so it was no surprise that I found plenty of it in my room.

Clean room even though it is an old hotel and historic , nice staff and perfect location.

Our room, disappointing. Cleaning is a suggestion not practiced. Shower curtain was gross. Pull out sofa bed was old and crumbs everywhere. I had to call for sheets and then make the bed myself!
- 4/5
The location is ideal. The room was spacious, the bathroom not so much.

Excellent location! The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. This is a historical hotel, with great charm. You will hear the train and the walls are thin, but our stay was comfortable. The AC worked well, and next time we will get a balcony room.

Unfortunately the property has not been updated. Also no breakfast.

There is Vintage charm and there's old and run down, sadly this hotel is the latter. Have stayed in several vintage turn of the century hotels, and this one is in sad shape. Be warned the hotel has no parking lot and there is no overnight street parking. We are not TV people, but the computer screen size will be a shock for ones that do. Also check the Google maps to see that hotel is a block from a very active train tracks, lots of trains...

The Park Plaza Hotel is over 100 years old, therefore the bathrooms are small and basic. The rooms have original dark woodwork and are walls are painted white to add brightness. The beds were very comfortable with very nice linens. There is an old fashioned elevator with a gate as well as a solid door, fun to get on and off! The lobby is right out of the roaring twenties. The staff was efficient and welcoming. Valet parking is the best option in downtown Winter Park. We loved our stay!
- 4/5
This is a sweet, eccentric small hotel. It has a very 30's feel to it; you half expect to see Sidney Greenstreet sitting in a corner. Valet parking made it easy in a busy but excellent location. The bathrooms are tiny with no place to put anything and we never did get facecloths or hand towels, but we loved it nonetheless.

Perfect location. Lovely lobby. Very noisy. The trains are near and loud. The mattresses are hard as concrete.

I was very surprised that the common area carpets which by the way were beautiful were dirty! I stayed for two days and the carpets were never vacuumed. The hotel advertised they had a bar which was not true! If you stay there make sure you bring water! The rooms do not have refrigerators so bring a cooler! We walked for an hour to find a store that sold water! The hotel mentioned they have ice water in the lobby which again was not true. They had a water container with room temperature water that tasted weird. There was a housekeeper that sat outside our room listening to tic tok videos every morning. Location is great and the rooms were clean. Management needs to step up though!

What a kooky little piece of Winter Park history! The entire staff were lovely. The room felt very European. Everything was clean and had character. Did trains go by at different times? Yes. Could I hear the people in the room next to me? Sure. But, the hotel offers white noise machines and it was totally worth it to be in such a cool part of town. The elevator was so cool! So much character. I would definitely stay here again.

This is the 1st bad review I have ever posted, since usually if I have a bad experience, I will speak with the management. and not write a bad review, but this was so bad in addition to escalating to their management, I am writing this. The issue started when whoever checked in the room next to us really late in the evening were with friends who wanted to party and they were so loud we were up all night. We called the front desk 3 times during the middle of the night (midnight, 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. and the response was so bad from the front desk that it turned a bad situation much worse. The front desk said to us on the phone at 3 a.m. with an attitude "while you are complaining to me on the phone, I can't be doing anything about it". Then when we called back at 4 a.m. since nothing had been done, he said well a few of the people are leaving now. We were treated so rudely by the front desk that it was hard to comprehend. It was a special getaway with my niece and she was so upset by this since she was the one calling downstairs and spoken to like that, that it really put a damper on our visit. We were exhausted the only full day we had in Winter Park together.

The room was only a few hundred feet from a train track. And freight trains went through all night long and kept me awake. The desk didn’t warn me about this and when I told them about the problem the next day I was told “it’s freight season” and then had to pay to “upgrade” to a room on the other side of the hotel.

Communication about problems with the water was lacking, though ultimately it was resolved. The carpet on the stairs and upstairs was dirty, but the downstairs was nice. The doors to the balcony are very drafty and the walls are so thin that you can hear a sneeze from another room. It has a quaint aesthetic but is overall a rather uncomfortable stay.

Throughout the years we have enjoyed staying here while visiting Winter Park. This time we found the hotel condition tired. The hotel needs much better care. Our room needs painting and upgrading beat up furniture, floors, bathroom. My wife and I agree this was probably our last time staying here.

Negatives-run down, needs new carpeting, needs new everything. It’s a hot mess. Even the bellman walked us to our room but never offered to take my bag. Just not up to snuff. Alfond Inn is way to go spend the extra $100 if you can.

Beautiful old place. Great concierge & location (minus the train whistles). Comfy room and bed. There were self-tanner handprints in my shower and the balcony was too dusty/dirty to sit on. Not a lot of natural light. REALLY thin walls.

I do want to caution visitors that the walls and doors are definitely not sound proof. It is a quiet hotel because people respect the need for sleep when staying in a hotel. We may have been too chatty during the evening which our neighboring room resident passively aggressive got back at us at 7:40 Am to wake us with evangalism TV blasting that we would be going to hell. I sure wish our neighbor had respectfully called the front desk to let us know that we were speaking too loud for after 10pm.

Bathroom walls and ceiling had mildew on them. The bed was hard as a rock. Building was very cool but seems tired.

The location was great, staff was pleasant, and I appreciate the history, BUT, when I stay at a hotel (my personal opinion), I want to feel more relaxed. TV was in the sitting room, the bathroom was horribly small, the shower was weak. Not to mention the $28 valet fee and I could go on, but bottom line, I won’t be back.

I love these authentic old hotels. This place is fantastically charming. The brass key chain and real actual key for an old door is just great. Such a lovely change from key cards and Internet passwords. The floors creaked and the door had a real knob, epic. The decorations, bathroom and tile floors all seem wonderfully dated and true to how this place was 100 years ago and I love it and I just wish I coulda stayed a couple more days and had my wife with em, she woulda dug it too. The downtown area is really cool too. Loved the whole vibe.

The property is in dire need of renovation. Bathroom tiles were broken. Towel bar was rusty. There was a weird skylight that had cobwebs and dirt. Rug in the room was torn and frayed. Floors were slanted and creaked. The overall condition of the hotel was old, dark, dingy, musty. They have an excellent location and that is the only positive attribute. I will never return unless the property is completely renovated.

It is a quaint and antique Hotel. If you like these kinds of authentic properties it is excellent. It is also in an excellent position in the main street of the town. Nice and helpful staff.

My bathroom had black mold on the sky light and was crawling down the wall, the wall under the AC unit was swollen from the moisture dripping down, the shower tiles were chipping, the faucet was coming off the wall, no room for toiletries at all...The bed was very comfy and it is generally clean but....a major reno needs to happen to bring it up to date! Just because thd hotel is old, doesn’t mean it cannot be modernized: electric outlets- they need more of those for sure. There was an extension cord under the bed but after plugging all of my devices I was terrified I was going to burn the place down. The lobby needs attention as well! The train.....i woke up thinking the train was coming through my bedroom- very loud! Other yhan that....the location is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Excellent location, beautiful 100-year-old hotel
- 5/5
Lovely and ideally located property, eschews modern facilities for old world charm.
- 3/5
Staff was extremely courteous and. Helpful. The facilty is what you would expect for a 1920s facility.Bathroom was tiny, no fan and a threshhold at about 6'2" which resulted in an abrasion on my scalp given my 6'4" height. Shouldn't have to duck. No restaurant in spite of promise on website.Generally disappointing at $215 per night. If you are looking for quaint, fine, comfort not so much.
- 1/5
Parking was horrible. You must pay for private parking. There almost no parking on the street available.
- 1/5
Very old property and needs big time restoration and updates.
- 4/5
Quaint historic hotel for "old time" experience. Antique Brass mesh door leads to an enjoyable elevator ride to the 2nd floor. Experience the amazing balcony views of the street below. Watch your set on the old wood.
- 5/5
Parking right behind the hotel but a little expensive at $20.00 per night and had to be out of the lot by 10:00 AM
- 5/5
Location, location.
- 4/5
For a 100 year old property it was just as expected.

Park Plaza is a darling B&B style hotel just a short walk to virtually everything in Winter Park. The hotel staff was lovely and extremely helpful.

The hotel history and charm
- 5/5
It was like stepping back in time to an Old English residence.
- 5/5
This is an older property, so the rooms reflect that. But, overall, it was a fun and unique place to stay.
- 5/5
Wonderfully old historic hotel - elevator was amazing by the way! Staff was very friendly and helpful when asked questions. Would definitely go back again.
- 5/5
Very kind staff, really old fashioned and historical if you are into that! Checking in and out was really quick! Great breakfast place called keke's right down the road as well, huge portions.
- 1/5
When we checked in, which always takes longer than it should at this hotel, we were told that the air conditioning was not working very well. Mind you it was 97° outside. After having been in the heat all day, helping my daughter move in to her college apartment all I wanted was a nice warm shower. However, when I went to take a shower, the water was cold. I decided to skip the shower and go to dinner. The maintenance man came up and said they will look into it and hopefully have it back up before you get back. We came back and went straight to bed. The next morning we got up and alas, still no hot water. These things happen. However, what really irks me is I tried to call and talk to a manager before we left and I couldn’t get anyone to even answer the phone. So I waited until the next day and I called and asked for the manager. I was given the assistant manager’s Voicemail. I left very nice and detailed message and asked for a return call. Here we are a couple days later and no return phone call. They had a chance to make it right, but they chose not to. That’s why I am giving them such a poor review.

What an amazing hotel. So nostalgic. Close to everyting. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was cozy and we loved the balcony.

NIce spot in a great area . Was able to walk to restaurants that are very close by
- 5/5
What a fantastic location! A truly historic hotel that is intimate and charming.
- 4/5
A charming old hotel right in the middle of an equally charming downtown. We loved it, and were able to walk wherever we wanted to go!
- 5/5
I have probably stayed here 8 times. Cannot beat the location.
- 5/5
If you believe in the power of enchanting places you have come to the right place.
- 5/5
The Hotel is within walking distance from it all. The staff is friendly and welcoming. They always had bottles of water and coffee ready.
- 5/5
Cute, quaint, takes you back in time
- 5/5
Perfect location! Old property with lots of history. I recommend the rooms with the balcony. Great view of the park. Very walkable
- 4/5
it was unique...but a bit run down. Safe, but no guests. reinvestment in the property is essential. great location

I moved rooms, more mold... When i stepped into the plastic tub to take a shower my foot almost went right thru
- 5/5
We loved this hotel. It was wonderful to stay in a property with character. I would definitely recommend it!
- 1/5
The bad experience came from the loud adjacent pot smoking couple that woke us up late at night. The other problem was the train came through late at night. Very loud.
- 5/5
Very convenient.

proximity to Rollins

Kept getting woken from the train and people talking in the next room. Hard to sleep but amazing location.

Staff was friendly. The rooms are very small though and the tv was toddler size. Not having free parking at hotel was a drawback. My windows were unlocked which is not very safe. Overall it was an alright hotel but I wouldn't stay there again
- 5/5
Wonderful historic hotel. Felt like you’ve stepped back in time.
- 4/5
It’s a very old property however it is maintained well and the staff is very nice. It’s a step back in time. While our room was very tiny it was very cute. The area is super. Boutiques and restaurants galore. Park Avenue in Winter Park is wonderful!
- 5/5
Lovely hotel on Park Avenue. Many restaurants to choose from, and beautiful shops and galleries. The rooms are not fancy, but they are charming, and clean. Could use some routine maintenance, but overall, no complaints. Staff is exceptinal. This is the second time I've stayed, and will be back.
- 2/5
No service as far as breakfast, had to go to Lobby to get water or coffee toilet broke last morning and had to use restroom in adjoining restaurant no apologies or any type of compensation several people left hotel very disappointed
- 5/5
The staff were very efficient and helpful during a challenging time for Savannah
- 5/5
Lovely quaint little old school, Hotel. Wright square in the middle of downtown Winter Park very user-friendly.
- 3/5
I really hope the owner(s) read this review and put some money back into that hotel. It would be beautiful.
- 4/5
It was right in the middle of shopping and a beautiful park. The hotel has a lot of character and history being over 100 years old!
- 5/5
Charming vintage hotel in the middle of great high end shopping and restaurants.
- 5/5
Love everything about a 1922 vintage hotel!
- 5/5
The hotel is handicap accessible, but the elevator is small so get your navigation skills ready. Staff were over accommodating. Some touch up paint and a good cleaning on the balcony would be a refresh for this 103 year old treasure. Close to the train, beautiful park with rose garden, shopping everywhere on the street and restaurants that treat the palette just a few steps away.
- 5/5
This is a nice historic hotel located right in the middle of downtown Winter Park on Park Av. Valet parking is a must. The standard room ( what we stayed in) reflects the basic nature of rooms from the past. The A/C is very quiet and queen sized bed comfortable. If you are going to stay very long, spring for a Suite w/King-sized bed and a sitting area.
- 5/5
Best location in town, old historic property. Park the car and walk to everything.
- 1/5
Nothing was to like.
- 4/5
Unique hotel close to all the great Winter Park shopping and restaurants. Staff was great and balcony access from my room was a bonus.
- 3/5
Location was great right on Park Ave. Hotel was fine, some personnel were rather rude which started the stay on a sour note. Next door neighbors were VERY loud but ear plugs are supplied in room.
- 4/5
Loved the charm of this hotel. All fine but would have liked robes in the room. The outside balcony where chairs were was very messy and not swept. We had the room overlooking park and it may have been more pleasant if there was not a big bag of laundry and a number of buckets to the right of us. Maybe you do bot have a lot of storage there but these could have been more hidden.
- 5/5
I love this hotel. Deco style and warm hospitality.
- 1/5
The historic charm and prime location of this hotel make it very appealing. However, during my Saturday night stay, I discovered that it’s located right next to a Mediterranean restaurant that turns into a nightclub in the evening. With the windows left open, the noise was constant—so if you’re hoping for a quiet night’s rest, this may not be the ideal place to stay.
- 3/5
Very old hotel, small bathrooms, thin walls, flying termites, felt like B&B not a hotel, the staff was nice but wouldn't stay there again.
- 5/5
Loved sitting in the balcony in the morning and evening. It’s a historic hotel so, yes, it’s a bit dated. But the features were overall great. Slept well!
- 2/5
The property is old. The room was small, bathroom is smaller. The toilet is so close to the tub, there is little room to sit without your knees inside the tub. There was some goo on the night stand. The door joining the room next door was unlocked and ajar and does not have a lockable door from the other room. Bathroom renovations left the tub looking rough. They give you earplugs for free which tells you something of the proximity to the trains passing by. Other than its location it is not worth the money.
- 5/5
Historic, quaint and comfortable in the heart of Winter Park!
- 4/5
You can feel all the noises from next rooms, super old hotel, need some retouching.
- 5/5
Everyone at the hotel is amazingly friendly and nice and accommodating. The hotel is a bit dated and everyone should be aware of that going in. I think it adds to the charm and you cannot compare the location to anything out there in the area. A pleasant stay and experience

- 4/5
This is a lovely 'old Florida' hotel. Yes, it could use a refresh here and there, but it's charming, perfectly located for Winter Park, and has absolutely fabulous staff.
- 3/5
Great location. Primitive bathroom
- 5/5
Location phenomenal.
- 5/5
Staying in Winter Park on Park Ave is a defined treat for adults. Lodging with Park Plaza Hotel was fun but the rooms needs updating in the bathrooms - old shower heads, non-enviromental toiletries, toilets that are pulling away from the walls, all speak to a refresh for the price. It's charm is there - the staff is lovely, the elevator speaks of a different time and shouldn't be changed. It's a time-capsuled treat without luxury.
- 4/5
Excellent location for shopping and dining.

Great a place very accommodating staff
- 5/5
Wonderful, historic property we first visited 30 years ago. Right in the heart of beautiful Winter Park, with greats shops and restaurants all around! Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Vintage property.
- 5/5
It is a beautiful old hotel.
- 3/5
Great location, but paper thin walls and windows. They are not kidding when they give guests earplugs and say a white noise machine is available. We could hear EVERY single thing from our connected room. The Mediterranean restaurant across the street pumped music until midnight. Definitely not the place to go for a restful night.
- 5/5
(It's also so perfectly located and reasonably priced that it would have to be really bad to *not* start from 3.5 stars for those two points alone. But it outdoes itself.)
- 4/5
Great location, historic building. Attentive hosts. Located across from railroad tracks, they provided earplugs. I would happily stay again but may not be for everyone.
- 5/5
Cute old hotel downtown. Creaky floors, thin walls, but lots of charm. Feels like New Orleans but cleaner and quieter!
- 5/5
Walkable to restaurants and coffee shops, would stay here again if I’m in the area. Very friendly staff as well.
- 5/5
Great hotel with perfect amenities

- 4/5
Quaint historic hotel so the rooms were very clean and well appointed but the actual structure is dated as you would expect being historic. Walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbor cough! They provide earplugs in the room. Sweet hotel for a nights stay! Super nice staff
- 5/5
Very warm feeling lobby area with 24 hour staff, coffee and tea. Our upgraded room was a suite near stairs with a great balcony and 2 rooms Complimentary valet parking included Extremely nice staff.
- 2/5
Really cute quaint old hotel. Amenities in the room and quality pretty low.
- 2/5
Hotel is about 105 years old, which could be a plus. Unfortunately it is feeling all those years, with tattered chair upholstery, tiny bathrooms with tiny sinks and no place to set anything down, shutters that don't stay opened, etc., etc. Doesn't come anywhere near it's potential as a historic gem.
- 5/5
Very cute, historic hotel
- 5/5
Very helpful staff. Great location!
- 5/5
The only negative was the elevator is a hit or miss if it works. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Great stay. Amazing staff.
- 5/5
Love the location in Winter Park. We also traveled with our dog and the hotel was very accommodating.
- 5/5
I like the history about the property and the convenience. Is very cozy hotel.
- 2/5
The property is tired and not commensurate with cost.
- 5/5
It was a wonderful stay. I got together with friends. We sat on the balcony for awhile and enjoyed the view and the company. We celebrated my friend’s New Years Day birthday. The hotel is in a great location on Park Avenue. I would stay there again.
- 3/5
Decent place to stay for few days
- 5/5
The vintage property is so appropriste for Winter Park and it’s history. It’s well msintained and I love the balconies.
- 5/5
We had a nice time. Is old but clean and the service was great.
- 4/5
Liked the hotel, but it was noisy in the room. It was possible to hear what people were doing in the rooms nearby. And when the toilets were flushed, it affected water pressure in the shower. Otherwise, clean, located in a great area, and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Only issue was the communal balcony area. This was annoying in the mornings. Bathroom was a bit tight but not bad.
- 5/5
😁
