One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in, the hallways were filthy and our room was never cleaned the three nights we were there. Breakfast was not appealing, and staff was not help. Please stay somewhere else.
- 4/5
Rooms are very clean; shower and bathroom were very clean also. Breakfast is what you need to start your day and the women working breakfast was very pleasant keep the food and coffee supplied. all the staff were very pleasant and helpful if in the area again this I will stay here. Parking not to bad garage is across the street but the street is not a busy one. Parking Garage drawback is spaces are very tight for large SUV or Pickup truck.

The only problem is the room coffee pot did not work. I brought it to the desk and it was never replaced. We stayed 3 nights. I believe this was for the other room I reserved for our son.

It was just fine or acceptable and late check in was easy. The price was way too high for the quality of stay. Rooms had non working lights in them and air was not circulating well. Had privacy curtains which felt too easy to see through so natural light was not an option in the morning from our low floor room.
- 5/5
The breakfast spread was excellent; the server kept the food areas clean and filled the trays when needed. Great service, friendly staff, and great food and drinks at the bar. The room was clean upon arrival, bathroom just needed newer towels and bathtub.
- 2/5
It was a 10-dollar parking fee daily. We never saw, never cleaned the room, the big deal, never checked garbage cans, always small. So, what do they do. Never stay there again. Parking garage is across the street. So yea, never again. Expedia , tell it like it is.Nothing in room, bath, you are on your own.

Room was sort of comfortable but lacked closet space. The coffee bar in the lobby was very nice. The breakfast was EXCELLENT. The staff was always very responsive and cheerful. We had trouble with the TV. Somehow the wires were crossed. I went to the main desk and a maintenance worker came within minutes to fix it. There is a lovely outdoor sitting area with a fireplace. Great sitting out there. Coffee pot in the room wouldn't work. I took it to the main desk and they had no spares and never replaced it so every morning I went to get coffee in my night gown. The room closet was too small especially with the ironing board and iron in it. We were there for a wedding and it was very challenging to get our clothes hung up. I don't like that the blankets are tucked in so that you can't cover yourself with the blanket because it is too short.

Everything was good, except when I entered my room the air was off. It was very hot, it was uncomfortable as I wanted to relax after my flight. The employees were very professional and attentive :)
- 2/5
There were carpet beetle/bed bugs in my bed and hotel did not take my claim seriously. When returning home I found a bug near my luggage and it turned into an infestation at my home that I am still dealing with eliminating. I also contacted the hotel management as well.

The staff were very friendly. The location is very convenient to UNCSA and Old Salem. The breakfast and bar were great. The hallways could use some sprucing up but the lobby and the rooms themselves are clean and well maintained.
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location, everything was clean, the breakfast was delicious and the room was very comfortable. We'll definitely stay there again when we return to Winston-Salem.
- 5/5
Fast check in. Allen was great and very friendly. Next morning breakfast was very good with lots of variety. Has a restaurant inside that seems to be popular with locals. Private parking garage for guests only with easy access back into building. Room was spacious and bed was beyond comfortable.
- 5/5
Staff was absolutely great all the way around from the front desk, food and housekeeping.
- 4/5
Clean room, friendly staff. Restaurant with limited menu but very good food. Nice breakfast. Convenient to Old Salem.
- 5/5
The eggs were fresh and the bacon was the best I have ever eaten from a hotel breakfast bar.
- 5/5
The entire staff was very professional and kind, however, Allen is the poster of excellence. He is quite amazing and you have a career winner with him. Thank you very much.
- 4/5
We had a nice time. Staff very nice. It needs a lot of updates. Breakfast was ok. Some days better than others and they ran out of food items.

The overall property were outdated. I'm not sure if trash bags was requires but we didn't have any. The front desk and cleaning person were very nice. The breakfast was wonderful. Thanks!
- 4/5
The bed was very comfortable. The bkfast had a lot of variety and was the best I have seen in a long time in a hotel. The sweet little lady working the bkfast area (wish I had got her name) was very attentive to keep the area clean and neat. Also, Allen at the front desk is a gem. He made it a point to call every person who came thru the lobby by name! He is very friendly and helpful!
- 4/5
Staff was great and hotel was very clean. The breakfast was good, lots of options and everything was kept warm. They had staff making sure options were staying stocked on a busy weekend. Some cons - I had a room with a roll in shower because it was all that was left, and it wasn’t that well designed. Clearly they skimped on the construction because the water didn’t drain in the drain it just spread over the entire bathroom floor, so they definitely didn’t angle/grade it properly. The shower water also didn’t get hot, just lukewarm, but for a one night stay it was fine. The do-not-disturb door hangers don’t stay on the door. Small things typical of a chain hotel, I probably wouldn’t stay here on my honeymoon but for business or just a casual trip it’s perfect. My 5-star standard is the Hay-Adams, and I’d usually rate a good chain 3 stars, but they really have their act together at this location. Highly recommend
- 5/5
Great location super clean and friendly staff nice big room with view out big window. Super cute fire place on patio in reception area with food options and easy covered parking or vallet. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The staff here is great from the front desk and kitchen to the cleaning staff.

We enjoyed our stay completely. Best hotel ! We came for a wedding. Guest stayed at this hotel and wedding party at another bed an breakfast hotel. Ours was the best. Definitely will return again. The staff we could not ask for better. We looked forward to seeing them every morning. Thanks for Everything, Best Hotel !!! ❤️

My husband and I stayed at this hotel our 1st time for a wedding. We Loved it. The staff made you feel at home. They were kind, thoughtful & caring. Every morning breakfast was the best. They accommodated us with what we wanted. Very sweet people. We will definitely return when we go back to that area one day. I honestly Enjoyed my stay there completely. It was a clean, friendly, happy hotel you just didnt want to leave...We will be back one day !!! ❤️

Cafe has the best chicken wings and the coldest beer in Winston Salem! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive!

The lady at the desk needs to enunciate. Even though she says her spiel several times a day this was my first time hearing it and I couldn't understand what she said.
- 5/5
Everything was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean. The only thing I felt could be improved was the breakfast. That wasn't very good.

I felt comfortable and safe in my room. The staff was attentive and friendly. I would return and recommend this property to others.

Good Breakfast
- 4/5
Older building. Loosely applied carpet likely not the cleanest but frequent cleaning and upkeep was maintained throughout the stay. Air-condition worked well. Bathrooms were good; room overall with upgrades.
- 5/5
This is always a great stopover on our way to the NC shore. Always comfortable. Our group noted the nice additions to the breakfast.
- 5/5
This is an awesome property and a amazing staff!

Nice rooms
- 5/5
We only stayed one night, but the room was nice and clean, the a/c was great, and all of the hotel staff was polite and courteous. Great overall stay!
- 3/5
Me and my daughter went to Winston-Salem because she was going to see University of North Carolina School of Art. I picked this hotel and everything was going good until the 1st full day of our stay (1/27). I had dropped my daughter off and went walking around Old Salem. When I got back I was resting from all the walking and was napping & I woke up to knocking, but I didn’t think it was on my door but then someone came into my room but I had the door latched. So they closed the door but I ran to open it and see who it was. It was a housekeeper & she asked if i needed anything, this really irritated me because I didn’t put the sign on the door saying I needed something. So that really didn’t give me good vibes. Also, it says parking available but they don’t tell you they charge you $10 a day to use the parking garage assigned to this hotel. Which is crazy considering there is no where else to park except for the parking garage. Overall, it worked the 2 nights I was there but I’ll find somewhere else to stay if we go back to Winston-Salem.
- 5/5
Hotel staff was amazing! Makayla helped me check-in and the hotel was clean and quiet. Downside was paying to park.
- 2/5
Staff were never at front desk when you walked up. One time another couple and I had to start saying hello?? Weird smells in the stairwells, very tricky to navigate in and out of lobby in your vehicle. The utmost basic of basic offerings on the TV. Will not return.
- 4/5
had to make a quick business run - property was decent. Staff was helpful. Checking in at midnight is not fun. Breakfast choices was not good.
- 5/5
Very clean
- 4/5
It was odd that there was no split in the curtains to close the blackout curtain, so you had to go to the end and walk under the curtain to grab the puller - no big deal, yet strange. I will say the front desk staff were always friendly and professional. Jasmine (?) at the lobby bar was particularly nice, accommodating, and funny when I saw her on Thursday and Saturday evening.
- 3/5
The property was overall pretty good. The shower didn’t drain well and water pooled up. There were streaks in the tub, on mirrors, and tables in the room. Breakfast was good for a continental breakfast. Had lots of options.
- 2/5
Parking is confusing and inconvenient. I got a “suite” and it’s just a regular room with another TV and a sofa. When you get off the elevator it smells strongly of weed.
- 5/5
Professional staff, clean dining area.
- 4/5
Excellent service
- 3/5
Doors open. Would be nice to have real cups in the rooms.
- 4/5
The staff is outstanding!
- 4/5
What I did not like was that in the bathroom, by the bathtub, in the corner by the door of the bathtub, it needs to be cleaned, take the old tub caulking out and replaced with new caulking. Also, when I came up to the hotel, I noticed my husband bringing down the dirty towels. The lady at the front desk stated that their policy is that they clean every three days, which is very unsanitary and unhealthy. We just finished having a pandemic here in North Carolina. I don’t know who cleaned the room, we’re they healthy cleaning, Did the customer have an animal in that same room? Again, not changing towels or sheets for three days is unhealthy.
- 5/5
Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
At 6:30 in the morning an employee was outside our window yelling at someone on his personal phone. He continued for the next 90 minutes. Obviously we were unable to sleep or even stay in our room. When I inquired who the individual was the front desk person said it was the morning cook. My wife was very upset and we left early. I actually feel we deserve a refund for our nights stay.
- 5/5
I loved the walk ability to local restaurants. The room and property were excellent. The built a privacy wall that was a brick fireplace in the courtyard.
- 5/5
We have been in this hotel before. We like the location in downtown walking distance to restaurants. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable bed. We enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Staff were all super friendly. The breakfast was excellent with lots of options, especially for people who can’t eat wheat! Clean and in stock as well. Very enjoyable experience overall and beds were super comfortable!
- 5/5
The staff was amazing! Had a little hiccup in the room regarding the toilet and they quickly switched me to another room. I would definitely stay again.
- 3/5
The Fairfield Inn in downtown Winston-Salem was fine until the wee hours of June 20, 2023. That’s when my wife and I were awakened by what sounded like garbage trucks. They were LOUD, really loud. Lots of metallic bumping and banging and dropping — and we were on the fourth floor. The service, the room, the bed, breakfast, etc., were all great. But Marriott management really needs to get on the horn with city hal and raise holy hell.
- 4/5
Hotel was in walking distance from downtown Winston Salem, was close to places to eat, had a very nice breakfast set up, hotel was clean, always had complementary iced water in the lounge too. Seemed like a very clean hotel, I would recommend anyone looking to stay in Winston Salem
- 3/5
The hotel is clean staff was pleasant. Breakfast free and a great selection to choose from.
- 5/5
It was a great stay for a birthday. Close to downtown Winston and a safe walk to and from the bars.
- 5/5
The stay was good. Staff friendly. Rooms could have smelled fresher however
- 4/5
Room was nice. We noticed that the Second floor door on the side of the hotel did not always lock. We did not have anyone clean our room while there. Breakfast was very nice.
- 3/5
No respect for handicap especially bath and parking facilities
- 4/5
Rooms are nice and clean. Bed and pillows were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast bar was very comprehensive and tasty.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and fast check in. Unfortunately, the parking garage is 7' high so a taller truck you would have to park it on the street. Rooms are clean, AC is a little bit louder. The lobby and bar area are spacious and clean. The breakfast has very little options. All together it is worth to stay at this hotel.
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly. The room was semi-clean. Fairfield has the soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers - which I personally do not like, but I understand they are a money saver. The conditioner dispenser was broke and the bathroom, under the sink, had hair and dust. Outside of that, the room was nice. I don't like that you have to pay for parking, which is $10 plus tax per day. The hotel is right near the interstate, so, while it was quiet as far as people noise, the noise from the interstate was very loud.
- 4/5
Better AC for the check-in /breakfast area. Since dont have restaurant, big breakfast, happy hour and snack purchase area much appreciated
- 3/5
Not many food options nearby. Ended up across the street at The Cowcoy Brazilian steak house. They declined me a table for one. No seating at the bar. Placed a carryout order and ended up back in my room. Overall a disappointing experience.
- 5/5
Cleanliness
- 3/5
This property was fine. It was generally clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was minimal but fine. Our room was somewhat run down with the carpet needing attention and the bathroom not being superb. The parking was up a hill away from the hotel which was ok but not ideal when returning with kids at night. Not much to do here at night. I recommend looking elsewhere unless you're really needing to be downtown.
- 5/5
Nice rooms, good staff, right on the edge of downtown.
- 3/5
Our room was nice, typical mid-tier hotel. The neighborhood is very walkable and still was pretty quiet. The employees besides the front desk person (who denied the rollaway with an attitude) were all fine. It’s convenient to get the second floor, which is actually the ground floor. That way, you can easily enter the premises from a side door and not have to take the slow elevators.
- 4/5
Great hotel all around for tournament stay - only feedback is that there are no ice machines on the main floor let alone every floor. This is a big deal for traveling athletes. Hallways are tired but rooms seem renovated and clean.
- 3/5
No room service even after 3 days! Staff was not friendly.
- 5/5
Nice location, quiet!
- 1/5
Booked room and payed on Expedia but had to pay hotel at check in as they did not know how to handle this Expedia reservation. Lack of systems training for hotel staff.
- 4/5
Cost efficient, but couldn’t give it 5 stars.
- 5/5
Clean - safe - helpful staff
- 2/5
I was charged for 2 days parking but I did not have a vehicle and told the staff upon arrival I did not have a vehicle.
- 5/5
It was very nice
- 4/5
Very clean. Staff helpful, went out of way to iron out wrinkles in a weekend with unexpected complications owing to a big snow/ice storm.
- 5/5
Great prices, nice location, clean, and amazing hot breakfast buffet on weekends only.
