Out of date and fall apart, the included breakfast is a joke. Zero amenities there were gaps so big at the top and the bottom of the door that you could look out the door with the door closed used luggage to block the gap at the bottom of the door so that nothing would crawl in when I first saw the place in person I tried to cancel the reservation. There was no refund once the reservation is paid. and the smell when we walk in front to check in is odd/bad wouldn’t stay there again

The room itself was updated and clean. The staff were nice. The outside of building could use some sprucing up. There was some sketchy people in parking lot all night and didn't feel the safest. Breakfast was not great. Coffee and prepackaged muffins.

Staff was nice, room clean, floor has a bad spot from where it had some plumbing work done so the floor is week. Did not have enough towels/wash clothes for the 3 people that was staying. But for last minute trip and the price, I would stay there again.

My children didn’t even want to sleep in the beds. One slept all night upright in a chair.

Convenient on route 17 if only looking for a place to sleep at a reasonable rate.

I stayed in room 201. The headboard was peeling the bed squeak every time that you move couldn’t sleep because of the noisy bed.

Shady place. We were only there for two hours and then we left. A lady who looked like a drug addict talked to me just outside our room while I was unpacking my car. Two cop cars showed up to the lobby looking for someone. I asked them if this was a decent hotel or is it shady? They both said it’s shady and they would not stay here! After that, someone came up to our door and was jiggling the handle to see if it was locked! On top of that, my room was really hot and uncomfortable. All this happened in less than two hours. I was not comfortable staying at this place with my wife and young child.

The room we had was not properly cleaned. It smelled like pee from the time we walked in. I literally used an entire can of Lysol to spray the bathroom down , the bed and sheets as well as the single lounge chair that was available. It looked as if someone wasted an entire can of soda pop in it and let it air dry. The door that corrects to the adjacent room had been unlocked so I had to re lock iand the guest in that room had kids so we heard EVERY WORD they said to each other ALL NIGHT Long!! This was probably the WORST overnight stay I have ever experienced and I’m 52 years old and have traveled to South Africa, Dubai, Jamaica and MANY locations state side! This was the worst and at over $360 for the night the MOST EXPENSIVE.!!

It is famous brand hotel but not as known Howard Johnson in the past. Breakfast is very simple not consider as continential breakfast standard.

It is overall good and fairly clean.

This room was to much for what you got but we didn’t have much of a choice. Room had an old smoke smell upon arrival. They are in desperate need of new beds. When my spouse or I would roll over you can hear the springs in the bed squeezing and making noise. There were holes in the walls where something once hung. The AC was loud. If you have a choice I’d pick somewhere else to stay. Would not stay here again.

Not what it looks like in the pictures and as soon as you walk in the lobby it smelled. I paid for the room ahead of time through a 3rd party. So we checked in and walked in the first room. Part of the forcible entry lock was missing, as well as it smelled like cigarettes. I asked for a refund but was told they could not provide a refund and was offered another room. This room also had a different part of the forceable lock missing. The gentleman working assured me that no one else has a key to my room and it would be fine. I said absolutely not because it almost looked kicked in. We were offered a third room where all devices were there, but the room was just not clean. It gave off a very “trafficking” feel. At this point I was willing to lose the money I had already paid and checked out at this location. I went 5 minutes down the road and paid $29 more for another beautiful hotel with a 4 star rating that gave us a welcome gift, clean beautiful room, pool, and great breakfast. The only positive thing to mention about this property is that the manager was understanding, polite, and offered to help me get my money back.

The workers are nice but some of the rooms have roaches, and burn holes in the sheets. Sometimes the cups in the room may be missing or the tv won’t work or the remotes won’t have any batteries. In my opinion the hotel charges way too much for these rooms to have so much wrong with them. When you get up in the morning there is no breakfast, at least I wouldn’t call it breakfast so you will be paying a lot of money for the bare minimum to have a place to stay.

Our room stunk of mildew,i had to use a car freshener which still didn't help, there was no hot water only warm water in the shower.. as a property Wyndham ower Wyndham should be embarrassed having there name associated with that hotel.. one thing that's definitely for sure I will never ever ever go to a Howard Johnson again never

Room was very warm when we checked in....

The bathroom was disgusting. Black mold in the grout lines in the tile in the shower. The door molding was gross. Some black substance was on it. I called to have it cleaned. They were responsive, but the person who came to clean it thought it was fine. When I pointed it out, he cleaned some areas and was amazed at how good it looked. I assisted with the remainder of the cleaning. The outside doorknob to the bathroom was also missing. We were afraid to sleep in the bed based on the condition of the room. There was coffee but no machine in the room. The continental breakfast was a joke. If there was another hotel vacant, I would have eaten the cost and gone else where. I’ll send an email to Howard Johnson as well hoping for an explanation since I won’t trust their brand going forward. Lastly, the outside picture of the facility when I booked it thru expedia was misleading. This place was a dive compared the photo.

This establishment is old and decrepit. While I don’t expect a five star stay at a roadside motel, for $135 I would hope that I would have clean sheets, at least. Found what looked to be a blood stain of some sort on the sheet on one of the beds. I needed the room for one night only, and couldn’t get out of there fast enough!!

Staff was rude. I booked a one king size room and got put in a two twin bed room. No towels in room. I had to go ask and when I did such staff was rude about giving them to me. Area is a bit unsafe. Nothing but vending machines and they “offers free wifi” they don’t.

Front staff was pleasant. Our room was clean & nice. Water pressure was amazing.

This motel was pretty sub-standard and the beds in the room was not that comfortable. The breakfast options the motel offered was pretty substandard and could be improved.

Bathroom was clogged. When asked to fix it the guy who cane to fix it had a bad attitude. When asked what to do if it gets clogged? He said pray to God it doesn’t get clogged again. When we asked to change the incase it gets clogged again he gave a deaf ear. When I went for some towels at the front desk the receptionist said he doesn’t have one. Instead he said go look for the house keeping he’s cleaning the rooms go look for him u might find him in one of the rooms. Ask him and get it from him.

When I arrived at the hotel. I had to wait 2 hours to find another room, because my room was given to someone else. Staff claim that Expedia did not sent them the payment for the room. When given another room after signing another contract for payment.

We arrived to drugs being done in parking lot. Blood in bathroom. Reviews were lies.

Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. The room was clean and had almost everything I needed. I had coffee and sugar, but no coffee maker. Plenty of coffee in the lobby. If you do not eat gluten, the breakfast is very limited. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. Quiet too. I was near the front of the building and therefore, the road. I would stay here again for sure.

When we checked in, there was an issue with my bill and being given an incorrect invoice for double the amount. When I called them out on it, they said it was an error and shredded that paperwork. We were given in room 202, which initially looked fine when we went in and dropped off our bags. Upon returning a few hours later, there was a heavy odor of pot coming from the adjacent room. I also discovered a used washcloth hanging over the shower curtain rack with human hair in it. I went to the check-in desk to make them aware of the conditions of the room and, the smell. The desk agent stated that they could not control what their guests did once they had checked into their room, and that housekeeping had taken place in the morning before she even reported to work. I asked for a room closer to the front of the property next to the office. When she said they were totally booked, I said I wanted my money back immediately. She quickly found a room in the front of the property in the first building which we inspected and transferred our belongings to you. Not once did the office staff offer an apology or anything. I was not acting ugly because my son was with me, and I did not want to embarrass him. After many, many stays at Howard Johnsons across the southeast, this is my last. Between the condition of the room and the utter lack of concern from management, I will not visit this chain again. I’m also questioning using hotels.com in the future.

Place was in decent shape. Rooms were recently renovated. Staff was friendly. Smoke detector was not present in the room which is a fire code violation.

The room was very nice, clean, and newly renovated. It is close to anything you want to get to. Because of Covid they do not have the continental breakfast available so they give out breakfast bags that had juice apples oranges a muffin and a breakfast danish to bring back to your room. They accommodated very well and the staff was very pleasant.

It was overly expensive for a VERY low quality room. The area itself didn't feel safe. It just had that icky feeling when you walked into the room. I wouldn't stay there again or recommend.

Check-in was easy. More like motor lodge than hotel. Room was dated and so was the linen. Bed decent but I won't be returning to his location.

Let's just be frank and HONEST. This property location is in one of the more sketchy neighborhoods of Wilmington. You get what you pay for in cost. There is a reason it was the cheapest one on Expedia when looking.

Do not book this motel. We walked in the room, it smelled, felt dirty, and we cancelled our stay immediately.

Close to the airport

Looked like they were starting to update the rooms. Our first room was not clean and the pillows were filthy. We went to the office and they quickly got us another room. It was better, but still not as updated as expected. The area was not the best either.

Buffet breakfast bar closed. Nowhere to sit in the room other than beds. One sliver of soap for a couple for 4 nights. No stopper in wash basin- beware any jewllery! Luxury was not expected, but this was barely acceptable.

Property was not in a safe neighborhood and my employee was uncomfortable staying the night there. She went to another hotel and didn't check in.

The stay was ok but it was not cleaned well after the last person. The top of the dresser had dried food on it. The bathroom had hair in the tub. I had some cleaning supplies wutb me and took care of it myself. I would not stay there again unless absolutely necessary

Flea bag dump. Forced me to stay in a smoking room. Now I stink like an ash tray, and don’t even smoke.

This property was dirty and really disappointing. It smelled terrible, the bed sheets were stained, and the lamps and headboard were also stained. We did not feel safe staying here. If anyone is hesitant about staying here, don’t do it.

Great service, friendly customer service. My only complaint is that I was given 1 room key, when I asked for another one I was told it would be $10. I couldn’t fathom spending that on a card so I asked the front desk staff to let me in each time needed— seemed silly and unproductive.

My friend and I visited the beach for two days and stayed here this past weekend. The renovations the owners are making to the rooms are great!

the hotel was just fine... very convenient for our last minute weekend get away... but the hotel charged us twice for my room, we needed to come back to fix that problem, so be careful!

By far the worst stay I’ve had & service. Myself and eight other people woke up to our tires slashed, the manager was nice enough to help me put the spare tire and recommended the tire shop that’s the only good thing that happened during my stay. We complained about the bed bugs and roaches before checking out and the front desk lady gave us the run around saying the manager will give me a call back. I ended up calling hotels.com customer service number & they were no help either they gave me the run around as well. I spent $111 on the room plus &75 for a new tire and all they refunded me was 27 dollars.

Durty carpet, sticky countertop with hair, dirty coffee machine and roaches. After complaining, they gave us renovated room, cleaner with less roaches. The hair dryer was missing and the electrcal outlet for it didn't work. The microwave was missing, but there was one outside by the garbage the whole time. The TV wouldn't shut off with the remote, so we used different mode and it was glowing like a night light. When leaving, we told them what was missing from our room and thay told us we supposed to tell them in the beginning. I'll be furious if they charge me for the missing items. They should CLOSE this place. Never ever going back!!!

Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was convenient, and it was great not having to deal with elevators or stairs. A bit outdated, with very low toilets that were difficult for us as elderly people. Could use a thorough cleaning...light fixtures were dirty and buggy and corners of rooms had dust and sand. Could be more generous with towels and toilet paper as well. Air conditioner worked great!

I know you can't control who is around, but....Some guy two rooms over was fighting with a girl he supposedly found on backpage because he called another girl on backpage, yelling about drugs and money....this place is a $40-$50 a night establishment and way overpriced for what you get. I couldn't even sleep because I kept itching all night? Not sure why? I had to cancel my other 2 nights and found another hotel. Staff was understanding and refunded remaining nights with no issues but I won't be back.

With the name Howard Johnson by Wyndham I was expecting great. That was not the case. This is not the typical Howard Johnson. First when we checked in the guy was so nice and pleasant but the lobby smelt like dirty mop water. We check in and go to the room. We got a smoking room because my spouse and I both smoke. When you open the door all you smelt was stale cigarette smoke. The room was not the cleanest place. We went up the street to the store and brought Lysol spray and wipes. The place is close to stores and restaurants. If you are looking for a nice place to stay this is not it considering the amount that we were charged. The breakfast was a joke. We didn't eat it but they offered danishes, dry stale cereal, and waffles with no syrup just jelly.

The place is very old and decrepit - the rooms are very dirty. I don't recommend walking barefoot on the carpet - it felt moldy and moist - very gross. The beds were not made up for the first day we were there and the carpet was not vacuumed. We were not given enough towels for everyone so we had to ask for more each day. The bathtub did not drain so there was standing water. I don't recommend this place. Unfortunately you get what you pay for.

I thought the condition of the rooms would be in better shape, they need an upgrade soon. They were clean, but a poorly done cleaning job at that. The worst part was checking out the next day. There wasn't anyone at the front desk so I had to find a housekeeper to check me out.

My rooms had a stench of mold. The door’s threshold had a 1/2” gap (bugs!) and the lock didn’t seem very secure.

The property definitely could have used some cleanup. The outside grounds had old mattresses stacked up but I've been removed from rooms. Very disappointed in the overall appearance.

I've stayed in worse places. Wifi was good, and though the coffee pot was unusable, they gave me a working one promptly. Fridge, microwave and bathroom was clean. Housekeeping was amenable in that I hate being disturbed and they pretty much took the hint to just leave me fresh towels and take away my trash. Location was excellent and ample parking. I believe I had the only smoking room in the whole place and it was still clean and airy when I checked in. I hope I left it the same way when I checked out. A bit pricier than I would have hoped, but it was a late booking so I guess I can't complain.
