Holiday Inn Express & Suites Wilmington West - Medical Park by IHG

I was having a rough morning, flight cancelled and I needed a place to stay at 8 am. I tried 3 other hotels, all turned me away. This hotel told me they could get me something but I had to wait, so I sat and waiting for about an hour, then the hero at the front desk(she knows who she is) says " hunny I can't see you waiting like this i know you're tired, were gonna do something for you" she gave me a free water, delicious cookies, and found me a room. Massive thank you to her, the cookie maker, and the owner.

Quiet and spacious rooms. Can be busy with the medical center nearby. They couldn't give me a receipt because I made the reservation via orbitz. Never had that happen at other hotels

The staff was friendly. They ran out of plates. Another guest got upset. I listened to the staff help to calm the guest. She did a good job of explaining the issue. It was an added bonus to have free washer and dryer access. The linen should match the number of guests. The fuest should not need to ask for the initial set of towels.

The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions, restaurants, and transportation. I also appreciated the quiet atmosphere, which made for a relaxing stay. Overall, the hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would gladly stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

The room was very clean very comfortable. Everything worked perfectly nice to have Keurig in the bedroom. Very good breakfast parking is easy and close to everything. It was all wonderful. thank you.

Friendly staff, decent size room. Relatively new. Bathroom was not clean. Long dark hair was all over the floor and shower.

The place was clean looking on the surface but when you looked closer, the base of the air conditioner was broken in several pieces. Parts of the lights around the bathroom mirror were out. The bathroom baseboards were filthy.

It was close to the venue for our concert, it was clean, and breakfast was wonderful. I wish more than one person had been available to work the front desk. Wait times checking in and checking out were longer, due to other customers having issues.

My stay was phenomenal clean fresh the breakfast was so good and hot. The staff was outstanding especially the front desk guy with the dreads can’t remember his name. They made us feel so comfortable. We definitely will be coming back. Maybe incorporate a bar area.

The room was not ready at 4:00 check in time. I did not get the deposit refunded, so I paid an extra fifty dollars than what my rate was to be. Being charged more and having to wait past announced check in time for a room to be done. Hire more housecleaning crew.

The facility looks up to date and very clean. The room was very comfortable. The reason for the low review was cause of the small bugs found in the bathroom.

The location was perfect for my business that day. All in all, it was pretty good, but when we arrived, the hotel clerk was overwhelmed with a work crew that was checking in. I think that she could use more help, but she handled it very professionally and did a really good job.

This was our second time staying at this hotel and everything was wonderful from the room to the staff. My family and I will be returning back to the hotel again

I like the fact that it looked New I like the location of the property despite the retirement home or some assisted a living facility on the side where people are outside as you leave the fire pit was nice. The bed was decent to sleep in. I did not like the fact that my room key did not work to any of the outside doors. I did not like the fact that my bathroom looked like it could’ve been a little cleaner. The housekeeping service was not friendly. It was loud noise over and under late hours of the night. I definitely will not stay again for that price. I should’ve had none of those things to complain about over $200 a night. In the room never got cold when you walked into the hallway it was hot and muggy.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Their recommendations for restaurants were all exactly what we were looking for and exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and comfortable and we very much enjoyed the free breakfast. We will definitely stay here again when we're in the area.

The body wash dispenser was completely empty. The same thing happed at a Hampton a week later. So I decided to call out both places. When you are paying $250 a night little details like this should not be overlooked. If I had stayed at the Econolodge I would have had a bar of soap.

The host were exceptional It was not as clean as I expected after reading previous reviews. We found mold in the shower, crumbs on the sheets, the pool was cloudy with hair along the sides, elevators were muddy, and we found a press on nail in the bed. That morning during breakfast, I spilled a cup of coffee. I cleaned most of the spill on my own while the kitchen worker stated “ I needed to be more careful” and complained that “ now she would have to get the mop ready and the floor would be wet” to a gentlemen who went to get help from the kitchen staff. She was loud enough that she was heard from the dining area. Later, the ceiling begin to drip water as I ate my breakfast. They used a bucket to catch it .

Overall our stay was good. We were early for check-in and were told our room was not ready. We explained to the girl at the front desk,

The Staff is what made this stay a good stay. The front desk staff did what they could to help us out. We had to wait an hour and a half to get our suite. The pull out sofa did not have proper linens and blankets. However, the breakfast was quite good. The indoor pool, though small, was good for kids. The hotel is close to many Wilmington attractions. A solid B+.

No there was no view of the ocean. It was at least 20 minutes from the ocean. The evening staff member was so nice. The daytime staff member was rude and a liar. She told my wife at 3:00, the room was not clean as of yet, it will be ready at 4:00 or a little later. My wife is handicapped and was extremely tired, we waited in our car until 3:45, my wife went back in and saw the rude girl leaving and the evening staff lady coming in. She asked the lady if our room was ready and she said it was ready at 1:00. That young lady saw my wife struggling to walk and breath, but yet she lied and told her it wasn't ready...What a jerk..

We do have a pool, but it wasn’t super clean and it’s super tiny! The staff was wonderful. The food was wonderful for breakfast. You get what you pay for.

What made things worse was the cleanliness. Once we finally got access, we noticed what looked like someone’s nail clipping on the sofa, clearly indicating the room was not properly cleaned or inspected before check-in. This is basic hygiene that should never be overlooked. As an IHG Hotels & Resorts member, I expected much better standards, but this experience showed poor management, lack of cleanliness, and no regard for guest comfort. I would not recommend staying here unless they seriously improve their housekeeping and check-in processes.

Arrived late at the hotel. The room smelled like smoke and the floors were dirty and looked like they had not been mopped in months. There were no other rooms available and the fronts desk solution was to come and spray room deodorizer in our room. The dirty floor was never addressed.

This is the most disappointing stay. Aside from the kind woman at reception everything was awful including the management response to issues. Someone had just been smoking INSIDE the hallway - it was smelling like cigarette smoke - fresh. We got into the room and it was disgusting - totally dirty - sheets smelled like oil, etc. I was traveling with my young daughter and after seeing the other individuals outside the hotel we no longer felt safe to leave the room. Shortly into the stay the room next to us (the hotel is so poorly built you can hear everything) was doing ...something inappropriate for little ears yet we heard everything - completey inappropritely. As a young mother I spent most of the night in tears scared for my safety. We were traveling to visit an ill family member and immediately left the next morning. Tried contacting th e hotel who refuse to do a refund because we didn't notify them soon enough - notify them of the disgusting and unsafe conditions they can't do anything about? Notify them that I'm terrified to leave my room and had to pay for another hotel elsewhere to get out of there as soon as possible. DO not stay here - not only for the poor conditions but for the terrible customer service. The hotel stated there is nothing they can do - do not stay there and stay somewhere nicer/safer.

Parking area seemed safe we had no issues. The workers there were excellent. Friendly and polite. Like to joke around and always smiling. Your pool was green and gross and ice cold . That was the only issue so we didn’t use the pool because of that. Otherwise it was an excellent stay.

Good location. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. They kept the breakfast open for me longer than allowed time. Room was clean. We did have our key cards lock us out of our room twice but quick fix.

We checked in early and they were very friendly but the light was out in the entrance of the room, bathroom sink was clogged and the toilet paper roll was broken. Then fan in the bathroom also didn't work

It was very quiet and the room was large and spacious. Oh my goodness that kingside bed was so comfortable. The staff was nice and friendly. The breakfast was amazing. I will definitely stay there the next time I am in Wilmington.

Blood on comforter. Couldnt check in til 5:30p.m. pool is only 4.5 feet cold no reason to return. Front desk lady was rude.

Overall this place was excellent. We loved the service and the staff, and how clean the place was. The breakfast was pretty good too. The only thing they need to make this place perfect is to add heater to the indoor pool. It was pretty cold when I went with my kids back in early April of 2025.

Breakfast was average, needing more gluten-free options like grits..., coffee not that good, running out of creamer, needing more options in coffee condiments and proteins.

Unfortunately not all the receptionists were friendly especially the lady who booked us in on the first night, Sunday evening, didn’t seem to know what she was doing, especially when she knocked on our room door, two hours after she had checked us in and then she issued our door key to another strange guest!! Also asking us our surname. To check.

It was a pleasant experience to stay here. Very close to everything in town.

When we arrived the woman up front was quite rude and very short with me. When we went to our room discovered it was not fully cleaned, and the peephole cover broken. Not the hotels fault but nosy night with people yelling and running down the halls. The morning was quite the opposite, the morning staff was wonderful, attentive and super polite, they provided a tasty breakfast as well.

Pool was not kept up to date and caused multiple eye conditions (blood shot eyes and blisters around eyes) due to no chlorine and to much acid for ph.

pool was green and the chlorine burned my eyes as soon as i walked in pool room. It was very cold and irritated my skin when i went to feel it. There was not a good breakfast selection. Not a good area around the hotel. Rooms were clean though.

Almost zero water pressure for hot water. AC/heater wouldn’t turn on.

We drove down to Wilmington to view some venues for our upcoming Wedding, at check in we were greeted with a smile and the process was quick. We went into the room to check the condition before we headed back out. The next morning as I am standing in the shower and look up at the wall, there it was. Not just a little bit, but a large area covered in mold that appears to have been there for a while. During check out I wanted to talk to the front desk about the unwanted visitors and was dismissed with a quick “I will have housekeeping take care of it” have a great day.

My check in and room were great. Everything was clean and service was very friendly.

There were several minor things broken in the bathroom but the staff was friendly and breakfast was excellent.

Needed a place to stay.lady at front desk around 3 Was amazing. The hovering lady helped us so much. The lady that was there after 11 pm was horrible. My boys just went down to ask a question she was so mean. Other than that the the rest was great.

The young lady the greeted me was above and beyond polite. She took her time. She didn't make me feel rushed. She was conscious of me feeling comfortable. A job well done. They need to give her a raise❗😁

This was my second stay at this hotel. Check-in was seamless, the rooms were clean, and the staff was friendly. I plan on making this hotel my go-to hotel whenever I'm in Wilmington.

This property was close to restaurants. I didn’t like the musty odor in my room and the toilet ran all night even after we called for service.

I stayed here January 10th and 11th 2025 to visit family in Wilmington and Carolina Beach. The staff were great and the rooms were very clean. The property has an outdoor firepit that I utilized both nights and a hot breakfast bar for the morning.

Property was on a dead end which made it very quiet. We had a very comfortable stay the 3 nights we were there. Great breakfast options and plenty of seating in dining area.

The lady at the counter was nice other than that I wouldn’t recommend nor will I myself stay there again. It was disgusting if I hadn’t been tired from the 16 hour job I probably would have made a big deal about it.

Overall the stay was excellent, pretty much everyone I dealt with was so polite and went out of the way to make sure everything was good. The only issues I had where the TV were kind of weird. There probably should have been a fan in the bathroom, and the door jammed on me at 2:00 a.m. when I was trying to get back into my room
