Guests generally appreciate the hotel's location and friendly staff. The hotel is praised for its proximity to the river and downtown area, making it convenient for walking to shops, restaurants, and local attractions. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the hotel's amenities, particularly the breakfast and outdated facilities.

Definitely a hidden gem! Clean room, good breakfast and great location! Very walkable, located right on the Riverwalk. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. I would definitely return to this property.

The view on the river and the ease of walking places.

The motel was fine. It was for one night, but if I had to stay more nights I’d probably stay someplace a little more luxurious. It was simple. Staff was great. It was clean.

Great price for a hotel right off the Wilmington Historic Downtown Riverwalk.

Property was in a great location easily accessible to downtown and the Live oak pavilion. Staff was were friendly and helpful. The breakfast food was very good. The property was maintained well and clean. Easy parking . Great trip

Staff is AMAZING!!!! Breakfast was yummy! Will definitely be returning

Great value for the money

Clean place for your stay. It's right on the water and Riverwalk. Walking distance to The restaurants and the Historical Downtown attractions
- 4/5
My room was on the 4th floor with outside open railings to get to the door. I'm not good with heights (yes, I know the 4th floor isn't high, but it's high for me when I'm looking directly down over railings lol) - they happily changed it to ground floor. Room was large and clean. Staff were friendly. Breakfast room was way too small for the number of guests and breakfast itself was poor, as with most hotels at this price level.

Staff are lovely and very helpful. Great breakfast set up and breakfast room well maintained. Would recommend.

It’s not the Ritz Carlton but this little Best Western, right on the waterfront was perfect for my conference stay. The staff are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met and so accommodating. The breakfast is a great bonus. My room was huge, well kept and clean. Would definitely stay again!

The front desk staff was excellent and the room was very clean, but the included breakfast buffet, was a lukewarm breakfast sandwich to go...which is a bit of false advertising and completely useless for someone with Celiacs.
- 5/5
Staff was wonderful!! Elevator was down, so no breakfast was included.
- 4/5
I had a clean room, the staff were most helpful in getting me a room on the ground floor. The breakfast was ok, it served the purpose.
- 1/5
The bathroom was dirty, the floor was dirty and the room was hot and humid (damp) - the smell was horrible. The staff that checked us in was very nice and wanted to be helpful but was unable to do anything about the problem because we booked through Expedia. I do not recommend.

Because I was a local to Wilmington, she said they weren't supposed to let me stay there. Guess my money isn't the same as out-of-towners.
- 3.5/5
Convenience to downtown Old hotel with ok updates. Breakfast was terrible. Only thing worth eating was yogurt. Eggs were watery, sausage was a pale color and potato’s had no taste.

The breakfast was ok, a little cold. But the room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the staff were so kind and welcoming.

It would have been nice if the rooms had a balcony.

The location was great. All rooms have a view of the river. It would have been nice if the rooms had a balcony.
- 5/5
Very nice room. All the staff greeted me daily with a smile. The breakfast was a nice addition before going to my meetings. Great location. I had heard there are parking problems however I did not have that issue on this trip. There was nothing I had an issue with on this trip.
- 5/5
Convenient location. Staff was friendly and the room was clean.
- 4/5
This was our first time staying at a Best Western and we appreciated the location, the cleanliness and the friendly staff who were very accommodating to our requests ...especially the Breakfast lady, she was great! We would definitely stay at a BW again.
- 5/5
The breakfast was very nice and fresh. The dining room is a little small but there are tables and benches on the adjoining patio if you are with a large group.
- 4/5
A very convenient location right along the River walk. The property is a little dated but functional, comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
No hassle parking for $15/day. Decent breakfast options including yogurt with toppings, eggs, a meat, & a side. We thought the front desk staff were especially congenial & friendly. Perfect riverview from room & updated bathroom. Did miss having a microwave in room though.
- 5/5
Great room and views
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
Great location on the Riverwalk and walking distance to outdoor music venue. Older brick hotel with nicely updated rooms. Good value including a lower nightly parking rate compared to other nearby hotels. Would stay there again when attending a concert.
- 5/5
Clean room. Convenient location.
- 5/5
Clean, cozy and right where we needed to be. Parking is tight but the rates beat the garage. Can't ask for a better riverfront view!

- 5/5
Plenty of safe parking, the area was well-lit and convenient to walk to the Wilson center.
- 3/5
Very kind staff, good breakfast, comfortable updated guest room, lovely location RIGHT on the Riverwalk with plenty of parking. The BAD: I only stayed one night and what a night it was. At three different times during the night, I was woken up by LOUD guest incidents. There was someone BANGING on a guest room door so long and loudly that I contemplated calling the police. This finally stopped and next came a loud altercation between guests that initially sounded like a domestic dispute with a woman screaming and a man calling her vulgar names. Things calmed down for a few hours, then at 2:30am another loud screaming match began, but this time it was SEVERAL people moving up and down the hallways. I honestly was pretty terrified at this point, but really needed rest so I just ignored it and hoped that the property manager would hear the noise and address it as the property has open air/ outdoor hallways. The following morning I went downstairs to speak to the manager who had no idea anything had happened. She did mention the police had to be called the previous night though. She was VERY kind and refunded part of my room charge, expressing concern promising to follow up on the incidents. I have mixed feelings about whether I would return given this experience, especially as a woman traveling without my husband.
- 4/5
Front desk staff was excellent and the location was fantastic. The breakfast was mediocre and the bathroom door was a bit weird.
- 5/5
Beautiful river view from room for sunset. Welcoming staff on arrival.

My dog is not allowed on the bed, so the rule didn't make a big different to me, but it might to a lot of gusts.

This was a good, average stay. Nothing was bad. Nothing was amazing, except for the gorgeous view of the sunset on the river. The staff were nice. Breakfast was fine. I felt safe. And it's within walking distance of some great spots downtown.

It was a wonderful stay from the beginning. The front desk Staff young lady had great hospitality and was very helpful. The breakfast area was small but the counter was effectively set up to navigate your way around the food easily. The one kitchen Staff person was very friendly The food was delicious. I thought it was the best full free breakfast bar was unexpectedly perfect. Thanks for having such a great place to stay.

Continental Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Staff were friendly in the rooms were nice and clean.
- 5/5
Staff was courteous and very helpful. Room is clean, great shower, nice view of the River, can walk to many restaurants and shops. We’ve stayed here many times and it’s always great!
- 1/5
The bed was horrible. The frame was broken and mattress had springs poking out into my body. Horrible night with no sleep. They then moved us to another room for night 2. There was a dog barking all night in room 2 doors away.

- 5/5
Room was very clean and the staff very friendly! Breakfast was fresh and is very convenient to have something fast on the run 😊
- 3/5
Staff was extremely courtesy. There’s nothing anyone working there, could’ve done to make our stay better. The issues were the walls and doors don’t do anything to buffer the noise outside. Heard countless conversations throughout the night, like they were standing in front of our room. Blaring TV’s after midnight. Heard a train. Trash being picked up. The AC unit inside was loud AF when it clicked on. My wife and I got almost zero sleep. That’s what we get for trying to save a little money by staying there. Won’t do that again.

Great location with easy access to nearby attractions. The rooms were clean and well maintained, the staff was courteous and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Excellent staff, excellent service, excellent breakfast - and it was super clean! Location is great, highly recommended for the price.
- 5/5
Best Western and Best Western Plus hotels are solid, reliable, and good value mid-range options with friendly staff and included perks like breakfast and Wi-Fi. They’re not on par with traditional five-star luxury brands, but if you’re booking for comfort, convenience, and value, they deliver — as long as you manage your expectations around luxury finishings and consistency across properties.
- 5/5
Staff was kind and attentive and room is clean.
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff.
- 5/5
We arrived at 4 and was promptly checked in by the most pleasant and professional personnel. The room was a little “dated” but clean and totally comfortable for our needs. Renovations looked to have been rather recent. But the room was very clean. The view to the river was nice as well. We slept in and missed the breakfast but it’s nice to know it was available if needed. Great stay at what I felt was a very fair price for both BW as vendor and myself as a customer. 9/10. Would and have recommended this exact location to friends, family, and business associates. The room isn’t going to be on any episodes of exotic hotels. But for a place to unpack, shower, and sleep it was perfect.

Front desk staff was great. Friendly and helpful
- 2/5
But in the room- a couple paper thin blankets if you can even call them that-So no comforter to keep warm, I had to ask for an extra paper thin blanket at the front desk and double it up. The pillows are about 8 in thick-You can't possibly sleep on that unless you want to sore neck in the morning. I did go to the front desk and she let me find an old one in the back that was thinner. No batteries in the remote for the TV so I couldn't use that, so I picked up the phone to call the front desk but the phone didn't work. Also, the people next door were kind of noisy I could hear them when I was getting ready for bed, and their movement in the room next door kind of moved my bed and headboard which made it difficult to go to sleep. Pillows that are about 8 in thick

Beautiful view, very nice room!

Waterfront room can't be beat. Breakfast was great!

We very much appreciated an early check-in and the front desk was professional.

Convenient to much of downtown Wilmington along with the waterfront, Beautiful views from the rooms of the Cape Fear river. Parking is very limited and the rooms, mainly bathrooms, could use a deep cleaning. Otherwise, we love staying at this Beat Western for its overall convenience to Live Oak Pavilion and downtown Wilmington.

Nice facility, friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Good breakfast options. Close walking distance to downtown area. A bar/restaurant option on site would be a nice addition. Overall excellent stay.

Old and not clean

The floor of the room was dirty, smelled damp, windows didnt open to let fresh air i. The aircon noisy and sounds of other rooms aircon can be heard all the time when this room aircon switcged off.

The breakfast menu was fresh and fine. The parking lot was fine also. The mattress was lopsided, but the room was clean. The staff at the front desk were helpful and courteous.

Clean rooms, good breakfast, location, friendly staff

Average hotel in an excellent location. Our room was with the river view, which was absolutely fantastic view. All other was very average. I would not stay in this hotel for more than one night.
- 5/5
Open areas for views of different parts of the downtown area, direct view of the river, access to river walk! Close to Live Oak Pavillion for events! Clean, open and airy feel! Sitting spaces, fitness area, breakfast room with a wonderful attendant! We have enjoyed our time here!

loved the view of the riverfront walkway and easy access to concert venue. would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
Breakfast was on the third floor, indoors or outdoors. ( Indoor space a bit small though). Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay there , the workers in lobby are very helpful and friendly I did stumble across one of the front desk clerks saying me sitting on bench smoking made her look dumb which I had no problem with moving around but clerk was clocking out of work to leave so I’m not sure exactly what happened but other than that all the ladies individually were GREAT and I would definitely recommend them to people , great breakfast area , enough lounge carts , great snacks area along with alcohol all that’s missing is tobacco products,

We will be back. Great staff! Great location! Beautiful view! All this and they take care of the cats that show up on their property. They make sure they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and cared for! I really loved that! Every place has cats! Most are not smart enough to know that caring for them is the best way to control the populations. It was a great place. One staff member has worked at this location for 37 years and several over 20 years. That speaks to the kind of place this is!
- 3/5
I have nothing to say about property , booked for a night if continues I will update my response
- 5/5
Loved being able to walk everywhere we needed to go
- 4/5
We had a great stay. Beautiful view of the water abd walking distance to all of the restaurants and bars downtown.
- 5/5
Enjoyed, clean and comfortable. Right on River walk.
- 5/5
Well kept, clean and quiet. This property is on the Riverwalk, close to the convention center and a great value.
- 5/5
Great location and beautiful view of the Cape Fear River from the room. Hotel had direct access to the boardwalk which was only a short 1/2 mile away to the Riverwalk. Also, the hotel was next to the ACL Railroad Museum which I visited. Only issue was parking was $15 per night. But the hotel is within walking distance of all downtown attractions so we just kept the car parked. Breakfast was good.
- 4/5
The hotel was ok... The room was not there cleanest but ok for a 2 day stay. The front desk staff were very nice, helpful, and professional
- 5/5
The rooms were very clean. Staff was very friendly. They have a great coffee cappuccino machine in the lobby but also regular coffee which was nice. Right on the board walk and walking distance to go shopping. Great stay! Oh I really loved the shampoo which normally is no good at hotels.
- 5/5
Nice clean room with a great view of the River. Bed and as comfortable and shower refreshing. Free breakfast was nice with yogurt and waffles. Staff super friendly.
- 5/5
Convince to downtown. Did not like the parking charges. Staff was very helpful with answering questions.
- 4/5
Overall our experience was great, but we did have a few complaints. When we arrived, we noticed the shower hadn’t been cleaned so we immediately ask the front desk staff if they could ask housekeeping to do that for us. No one ever showed up during our stay which was frustrating as an unclean shower isn’t ok. They also charged us extra fees that we weren’t expecting and the lady didn’t explain them before charging our card. Before leaving, they tried to charge those extra fees again, but they were quick to fix that as we told them we’d already been charged. Other than those things, we did enjoy our stay as it was very quite and we felt safe there.
- 4/5
The location is excellent—plenty to do and see nearby, which made getting around easy and enjoyable. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The property itself was okay but could use some updates. Unfortunately, cleanliness was a real issue, with noticeable lapses in both the room and common areas. Overall, not a terrible stay, but I wouldn’t rush back.
- 5/5
Mrs Ant at the front desk was amazing and helped me get situated after a long flight! thank you for being so friendly and accommodating for me! also the overnight worker on 8/9 @ 1am was wonderful as well, but i missed her name!
- 1/5
View of the water and the window was so fogged up I couldn’t even enjoy the view. There was only a very thin blanket on the bed. No additional blankets in the room. Had to pay additional $15 for parking (which they said they would email the receipt for and never did send it. I ended up itching all night and still have bug bites ALL over my body. Wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.
- 5/5
staff was very helpful
- 4/5
Location was great and room was clean but small. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Didn’t expect to pay $15 a day for parking. Won’t go back because of that.
- 5/5
My only suggestion is that I can not sleep flat in a bed. I sleep in a recliner at home. This is a common practice for people with back injuries and breathing issues. It would be helpful to have recliners available if preferred. Thanks for a good night our water front room was awesome.
- 5/5
It was conveniently located next to red hat amphitheater, which is where we were going. There were a couple of restaurants very close by. The parking garage was convenient. It was just a little mold on the ceiling next to the air conditioner vent, which we reported at checkout. It just appeared to be from condensation. Other than that, it was excellent! Breakfast was good too!
- 5/5
Favorite place to stay when we are visiting Wilmington. Great location- it’s walkable to downtown. Staff is friendly and the facility is well kept. Pets are allowed, so we were able to bring our two Labradors.
- 5/5
Hotel had great view of the water way. Very convenient to things downtown.
- 5/5
This hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk to dinner at Front Street Brewery and walk to Live Oak Bank Pavillion. Highly recommend, especially if you get a room with a river view!
- 5/5
Hotel was clean, well kept and convenient to the concert we were attending
- 5/5
Older property but clean and in a great location. Customer service very responsive.
- 3/5
Mattress was horrible, caved in the middle.
- 5/5
Awesome location. Next to river walk and walking distance to downtown. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was good. Room was very clean but could be updated. It had a refrigerator but no microwave.
- 5/5
Love my stay
- 5/5
The rooms were clean and comfortable, featuring a large TV for winding down after a day of exploring. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A special shoutout to Ashley, who kindly helped us relocate from the first to the second floor out of concern for potential flooding. Thankfully, everything turned out fine—but her support gave us peace of mind during a rainy evening. Highly recommended for travelers seeking scenic views, pet-friendly amenities, and genuine hospitality. .review?
- 5/5
Even though we only stayed one night, everything was top notch! Friendly staff, nice rooms and the breakfast was very good!!
- 5/5
The only thing negative I would have to say is I didn’t like paying to park in their parking lot. A pool would have been nice even though I knew it didn’t have one when I booked it. There wasn’t enough towels in the room and if you wanted the room serviced you had to request it. I always take our own towels because no hotel gives you enough. These are not reasons I would not recommend staying there. I’d recommend it to anyone and will definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel and great location on the Boardwalk. Great little dog run, too. Our room was not very large, but everything fit well and was designed just right - there was a place for everything.
- 3/5
The good points were good location and nice desk staff. Room size was adequate, which included a small fridge and coffee maker (no tea). AC had to work hard in the summer heat but room stayed cool. Bed, linens and pillows were OK but showing signs of wear. The Riverwalk behind the hotel was lovely. Unfortunately, the shower had very moldy grout that badly needed replacing. The outlet in the bathroom was not functional (we informed the desk clerk of these problems after check in ). Bathroom doors showed evidence of prior water damage that had been painted over. Deadbolt to room did not engage. Room service was not provided daily but perhaps this was due to short staffing on a holiday weekend (additional towels and such were available at front desk). Breakfast area is very small and options were just OK. For those interested in cooling off, this hotel does not have a pool.
- 5/5
This Hotel is very clean, quite, and a great location on the riverfront. My wife and visit Wilmington alot, we have just found a perfect location for a quite getaway. We loved our room located on the 1st floor looking out on the river, and across to the U S.S North Carolina. Yes we will be staying here again in the near future. 10 out of 10 Stars.
- 5/5
Love the location
- 4/5
The second was the pet charge. One I had a service dog so normally I don't need to pay those. But most places have a cleaning fee anywhere from 30-70 dollars. Theirs was 150 and it was not posted anywhere when I reserved the room. Hell when I stayed at the hyatt a few months ago theirs was only 50. I didn't find out till I checked in the the fee was $150. So be aware of that if your traveling with your pet.
- 1/5
The pictures are deceiving! The property does not look like the pictures at all. In a very sketchy area with people constantly passing your room for no reason
- 5/5
Riverfront views are great.
- 4/5
Good visit. Elevator was out while we were there and had to walk up several flights. The door to the room did not latch and therefore the room could also not be locked. Discovered this after sleeping overnight. Door open outside to balcony so this made us feel unsafe in retrospect. River view and location were great tho!
- 5/5
Polite, efficient staff. Nice room with beautiful river view.
- 5/5
The hotel staff very accommodating
- 1/5
Terrible
- 5/5
my second time staying here, always a pleasure. room is clean view is great location is amazing
- 5/5
Waterfront room
- 4/5
Very friendly staff, and great location. The only issue we had is that our room had a strong musky scent. As the hotel sits on the river, this may be common, but I would think that the hotel could do something (eg de-humidifiers) to improve this situation l.
- 3/5
Was on the River and everything was walking distance.
- 4/5
Great location for concert. We walked as it was so close. Def staying here again. When arriving to hotel first time The road you are to pull into is EASY to miss as it’s like a long skinny parking lot. Just turn in when you see the black train lol
- 5/5
Room felt and smelled so clean
- 4/5
The Hotel is in need of an overhaul, it is outdated and needs repairs. The towel rod in the bathroom was loose and fell when I hung the towel back on the rod after a shower. The paint on the walls needs a fresh coat, the shower grout needs to be replaced and the wood decor on the exterior soffit is hanging in ff the building and will fall at any minute. The staff is friendly and the views from our room were fantastic.
- 5/5
Love the accommodation!
- 2/5
My room wasn’t very clean, there was hair from other people on the floor in multiple areas and the floor was wet when I got the room like it had been mopped, however it never dried even with ac unit on, the floor was still wet in the morning when I got up.
- 5/5
As an unintended stop on a family road trip,,, I didn’t want to leave this place! We stayed in this hotel and couldn’t have been more pleased, but it was really this entire area of Wilmington that I really fell in love with! We just had an evening out on the waterfront and then got back on the road in the morning, but I will be looking for every and any excuse to come back to Wilmington, stay as long as I can, and would love to stay at this hotel or at least very near it!
- 4/5
The staff went the extra mile to make us comfortable. They made a good stay into a great stay.
- 5/5
This property was close to the concert venue, which is why we were there. It was great to be able to walk to the venue. It also had a great little shopping area down the street. The staff were super nice, the room was clean. Breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast but overall good.
- 4/5
Shocked that was no safe in the room to put valuables in.
- 5/5
My room was clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was convenient and my room had a view of the waterfront.

Stuff was awesome! Was able to get an early check in, even on a busy holiday weekend.

Great location in Downtown Wilmington with nice river views. Staff was friendly and the complimentary breakfast was actually really nice! With that, the floor in our room was very dirty and the beds were not comfortable. The drain in the shower barely worked and there was rust in the tub. We asked for housekeeping to clean our room one of the days and they never came.

Very helpful staff and a great location on the river.

The elevator was out of service and staying on the 3rd floor having to climb stairs at my level of medical issues really sucked. The room, while had a great view, definitely needed a revamp with painting, caulking, etc.

Great stay! Clean and convenient!

Lovely stay. Clean room with everything needed. Comfortable and great view over the Cape Fear river. Breakfast has everything needed. Parking was $15 a night but right in front of the hotel.

Staff was so friendly, especially Aunt.

Paid for parking on property and not being able to find a spot in the evening. Come to find out, they have 52 rooms but only 30 spots available

The elovator was down the whole time we were there. The rooms are basically a bedroom and a bathroom with a old noisy ac unit

Went for 1 night to see concert. Checked in, room on 4th floor and elevator out of service.

Room appeared very clean except for the floor. Everything else was great.

Our room was on the 4th floor and we were told the elevator has been broken for about 3 weeks now. Had to drag luggage up 4 flighta of stairs.

Staff was very helpful and friendly; made you welcome.

TV didn’t work. Dirty room.

There are two other properties that basically share the same parking lot as the best western, and both are exponentially nicer with prices that are comparable. The little bit of extra money is worth it.

We were somewhat disappointed. The elevator was not functioning, we were charged $15 for parking that we didn't expect, and our bathroom floor was VERY wet when we walked in. The location is good, the view of the river from our room is very nice, and the woman who manages the breakfast room is very friendly.

Ant that took our reservations was very helpful and pleasant. Even got us checked in early so we could get to a very special event. Thanks again Miss Ant your truly the best...

Extremely great location. We could walk to everything!

Ours was a single night stay with our dog. Very nice front desk checkin and breakfast was just fine. The view was wonderful. Elevator was under repair so the stairwell had to be used to get to ice and breakfast- really not a problem but they could certainly use updating.

One night stopover enroute to Savannah. Nice location within easy walking of Riverwalk.

For the money it’s not worth 300/night

The hotel was pretty nice but when we went to put stuff in our refrigerator it was full of someone’s old left over food! Other than that we had a good experience at this hotel and it was a short walk to dinner and the concert venue!

The Best Western Plus Coastline Inn is a great hotel. The employees were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good with plenty of choices. Beds were comfy, shower is nice and the rooms all have a river view with the battleship in sight. They have a wonderful deck to sit on at the river's edge. The location is perfect for a historic Wilmington visit!

Whats awesome is the great view of the river and a view of the Battleship. Its along the riverwalk. Check in and check out was a breeze. Great selection for breakfast. The room was as expected. Kinda small but definitely fit our needs for 2 of us spending the weekend. The room was super clean. The bathroom doors are weird. No bugs. Comfy bed and pillows. Overall it was a good experience.
