Motel 6 Westminster South - Long Beach

The staff was very nice, but the property was not. There was pee in the stairway, broken stairs and the property was not clean. We found hair on the towels and broken lamp shades. People were arguing in the walkway and children crying.

Inside: paper-thin walls allowed too much noise in; some problems were a large dog was in the room next to ours, barked often to wake us up. Got back to sleep, then he’d bark again. People talking any cussing in the room next to us, that could easily be heard through the walls. Every noise could be heard like they were in the same room! Peeling paint, old room and furniture needs to be updated. Don’t waste your money.

Not my first stay here, but will be my last. The property condition has deteriorated significantly, and getting to my room usually involved stepping over residents(?) on the steps who were smoking and eating. If you have late night issues you will be dealing with a remote agent on a screen. Poor service. One of my nights had a group of people with barking dogs threatening to kill someone in an adjoining room. Night security is much needed.

The room had a terrible musty smell coming from the air conditioner. The floor was very dirty, and the bed sheets seemed unwashed—they smelled bad and made me feel itchy.

I just love the maids the staff are so nice

There are/were a few homeless staying there (which i have no problem with at all) however, some do have dogs with them and don't clean up after them. The location was perfect for getting around, air con worked well when needed too.

Gave 2 stars simply because it had what I needed. A dog friendly bed, a shower and an ice machine. I stayed in room 112. Smelled strongly of smoke and dog poop from outside. Mold in the shower. "Unknown" brown spots on wall all around toilet. Not in the best area, other then having an In-n-Out next door. Poeple hanging around outside the hotel all night (it was a Friday night) Loud. It's a dog friendly hotel and it seems like none of the poop ever gets cleaned up by guests or staff. It's everywhere. It was inexpensive so it is what it is.

I felt unsafe at this location. People wondering in the parking lot, homeless and screaming outside with people arguing right outside my door. The front desk person was very kind during check-in but other than that I’d rather drive to a safe neighborhood and sleep in my car.

I think a security guard would help a lot there is a lot of homeless people here they stay in the parking lots on the stairs by the pool it’s very uncomfortable I’m afraid but I have my son who I can have walk me to my car why so I stay here it’s because the staff I love

It's Motel 6, so you know it's going to be basic, but this room was one of their "pets allowed" rooms and it smelled strongly of urine. We found a dirty child's sock under one of the the "clean" towels in the bathroom (gross). And, the halls and stairs were dirty and smelled strongly of smoke (weed and tobacco). To make matters worse, a loud argument broke out above us at 3:30 a.m. We would have left from the get-go, but the day before nearby Garden Grove was evacuated due to a toxic chemical situation and there were no available rooms anywhere nearby.

The ice machine was broken the whole time.

I once enjoyed this specific motel 6 but on this last trip, it seems it has gone down in quality since the last time I was here. The room felt humid and felt as if everything was sticky and damp, we saw a couple bugs, and the kiosk to check in and check out seems like such a waste of money for the establishment, money that could have gone to helping keep the rooms maintained and clean.

Simple countermeasures to simple issues

Maids are nice. No security at night. Marshall law around here. Save money by sending the humans home and relying on a kiosk to make and book reservations. Great and all but with some maids and both maintenance men on site. They are not only unreachable after hours but nobody with any say about anything is around its hard to get the simple things handled. No running ice machine in months. Tried cleaning up the landscaping and putting a new face on the entryway to make it look a little better but that just came with more backlash. I never charged a dime for what I felt was easy simple upkeep. Took my mind away from the day the day .nobody had a problem, maids loved it. Long and short of it, for the price,and long term rentals I think the stay could be upgraded and the non- guests removed from the property. No security=no enforcement of policies. = guests are on their own. Eeek

The room was clean. Bedsheets were spotless and bed was well made. AC was working well. Bathroom was clean too. The self check in kiosk is super convenient. Housekeeping checks every day if anything needs cleaning or any supplies are needed. I suggest it would be nice if they kept a bottle of water and a box of tissues for convenience of the guests.

The staff during check-in and check-out were friendly and professional, which I appreciated. However, I was very disappointed with the room itself. The bed had a strong musty smell, the room did not feel very clean, and I was bitten by something during the stay, possibly bed bugs or insects. Overall, the room was uncomfortable and did not meet my expectations.

The property is convenient and close to airport, dining, shopping, and entertainment. The property definitely needs maintenance in all areas. The room needs cosmetic/maintenance attention from the door to the bathroom. Outside area has an odor of urine. The ice machines never had ice. Homeless individuals were on the property and surroundings. Staff were not friendly and occasionally hostile when inquiring anything. I have frequented many Motel 6 properties, and this property was the most unpleasant that I have visited.

Noisy from freeway

Th the automated system at the door for the first time I had ever used that I thought that was pretty impressive and very simple to use.

The room was filthy, they didn’t even try to make it look clean. The bed sheets were stained, there were holes in the sheets. We had to buy sanitizing wipes to wipe down everything including the floors. The area of the hotel has a bunch of suspicious looking people everywhere, it made you feel unsafe even in your room. The only good place about this location was that the front desk person was willing to give us another room after I complained that our first one was filthy, but the new room was almost no difference. Don’t stay at this location lmao

Nothing. It was dirty, the beds were old and sagging, there was no sound insulation between rooms, and there were homeless people everywhere.

The staff was great helping me with the room I needed. To help my stay comfortably and I slept well just alittle noisy with construction going on.

To many homeless in front and around the motel

No room cleaning. You can ask for it and the staff will tell you ok, but they lied. I don’t like being lied to. Rooms didn’t smell good even though all the rooms are non smoking. Pets are allowed and some are not very well behaved. Many of the people that stayed there also looked shady. The best thing I can think of about the place was the In-N-Out Burger drive thru only 100 feet away. First time I’ve been to In-N-Out…..WOW! Loved it!

All that being said, sometimes you just need a cheap place to stay and if money is your main concern, I've seen worse motels. There were no cockroaches and it looked like some small effort had been made to clean. But, if you can afford something better and you want to feel safe and slightly comfortable, just go somewhere else. The only real upside is that there's an In-N-Out right next door. So, it gets some points for that.

I have stayed in some dumps but this one takes the cake. There is a lot of nightly activity here if you catch my draft. Yelling and arguing in the parking lot at around midnight. Transients and their dogs everywhere. Our room was near a trash can so we could hear all the bums conjugating around at all hours. Our non smoking room smelled like… SMOKE! Shocker right well it also smelled like mold ;) The very uncomfortable bed had cigarette burns, tv console and bathroom mirror had burns marks. Door was slightly a jarred so we could literally hear everybody that walked by. Furniture & bathroom door looked like they had been underwater at one point in time. The old moldy smelling AC did keep the room freezing. Nice large tv in room. Definitely bring shower shoes and your our towels. We slept in our clothes from the day & burned them when we left. Because on time of not getting a good nights rest from all the noise, we also woke up with several bug bites and didn’t want to bring them home with us. Surprisingly, our car did not get broken into but the paranoia of it possibly will also keep you up all night ;) this place is way over priced.

The overall appearance of the hotel is terrible. Many of the window screens are bent or missing, the building desperately needs a fresh coat of paint, and the whole place is overdue for a renovation. You rarely even see front desk staff anymore—there’s just a kiosk in the outer lobby for remote check‑in, and the person on the screen immediately asks you to leave a review, which is almost laughable. It’s honestly sad to see how much this property has declined. To make matters worse, there’s construction happening right next door. They’re putting up some kind of building, and most of the front parking lot is torn up and fenced off.

Obviously the other ratings on this property were AI bought and generated. There was no service to our room during out stay. The pool was unusable. The pet urine smell was horrible and poop was everywhere on sidewalks. We did get to see the police raid a room. We had no service to our room through entire stay, no fresh towels or sheets.

I am not sure what room is pictured, but none that I saw were anything like this. The front desk staff was very understanding and tried to accommodate me; however, the property is disgusting and they would not have been able to pay ME to stay there.

There were pubes in the shower like it wasn’t cleaned. We didn’t even use the shower because it was un clean. And that was the main reason we got a hotel room was for the shower benefits. Pillows were also dirty on my bed. Then the booking app changed our booking for the next night and not the 13th. So we had to rebook and I have to wait for the refund. Over all not happy with the stay

There was no staff in the premises when we arrived. After checking in through a machine with an operator. We went to the room to find the room was tiny, with a terrible odor. We then saw a bunch of cops surrounding, and lots of homeless people with old cars and trailers. We went back to the machine after waiting for the cops to get to a room for somebody they were looking for. I asked to check out, which was less than 30 minutes from checking in to be charged one day for nothing. My worst experience ever with Motel 6. I will never return.

The door to my room was slightly adjar from the hinges at the bottom and the top even where the door knob aligns w frame was somewhat gutted. Stressful knowing if it coukd be forced open looks like it was tried. It was uncomfortable. They offered moving me to another room but i wanted a parking spot where i could see my car from room. It was always less transient . Please fix that door. We just took our valueables the car daily. The shower leaked water so floor was wet had to line floor w towels. Shower floor was not very well maintained cracks and spots. Floor had marks that just was a bad look. No fridge or microwave. The manager offer a discount but never saw it.

Paid extra for a room with a mini fridge that didn’t work. The door to the room didn’t close properly and got stuck when trying to open it. They changed the locks to the doors without any prior notice to any of the guests, when I went to ask the guy at the front desk he told me to just go ask the guy on the kiosk.

Just enough to get you by if you are budgeting I would suggest bringing your own sheet or bedding and a towel. The towels were not bad. I just don't trust it.So I brought my own sheet/blanket and wash clothes. I did see one roach and the bathroom wasn't that clean. And there is A lot of foot traffic from people coming and going. A guy knocked on my door. I had to yell for him to leave. Luckily I had a friend with me but also yelled at the door once she yelled he left but it was very alarming. I'm a city girl and I trouble a lot so not much scares me but be careful of your surroundings while you're there. Just somewhere to rest up.

Pick better area

The rooms are usually in decent condition. Not too much to watch on the TV, which is fine and the beds seen more comfortable. They have a really cool night guy that works and they usually have rooms for you to check too early if you ask. The area is not the best a lot of drug addicts but there’s no deposit so it’s worth it. I just think they need to update the showers besides that everything else is pretty comfortable for the price.

There were people who actually lived at the motel, the people beside us fought late at night and early in the morning. They blasted music so loud at 1am and were yelling at each other. I wouldn’t stay here again and also cancelled a motel 6 stay I had booked in Fort Lauderdale.

The beds literally had depressions in them caused most likely by years and years and years of people staying in them. My daughter and I checked in late and were going to Disney the next morning, so we just survived with a hope and a prayer.

This Motel 6 is way below the average that I have experienced. The non-smoking room REEKED of tobacco and the odorant that was used to excess caused my wife and I to choke every night. All of our clothing smelled of tobacco smoke throughout the trip. Check-in was odd because you had to check in through a kiosk located in the office. That process needs some improvement as it was hard to understand the attendant and the requirements for check-in were not clear. The staff was not very helpful. The shower leaked water all over the floor. The floor was dirty. Ugh!

We went to a music festival, so we only came back to sleep and shower, so it didn't bother us too much. But the only thing we didn't like was the state of the room. It was supposed to be smoke-free, but there were signs of smoking. The bedspread had a cigarette burn hole that they didn't replace, the table next to the bed also had a burn mark, and the paint was peeling off the wall below the sink. The TV kept stopping working. We can't complain about the friendliness of the front desk staff, though. If they remodel and make those changes, it would be a 5-star hotel.

The room appears to be a little rundown. For example, there was no hot water in the bathroom sink. The bed was squeaky and uneven (probably due to the worn out bed springs). In addition the pillows were a flat (I had to fold it in half to better prop up my head). However, the staff was friendly and nice.

The worst hotel I have stayed at. I paid for non smoking room and the room had a cigar stench so powerful I had to leave the hotel. The beds were old and neglected with the smoke smell embedded into it. It was not cleaned properly. Definitely not recommend it to someone with kids.

I left at 2:30am because roaches and smaller bugs were crawling around the fridge and desk. When I told the front desk clerk, he told me to just leave the key on the front counter. I told him that he could refund me also and he told me to come back at 5:30 to talk to the manager. I wasn't coming back to this place at all, I was headed to Las Vegas. I couldn't even stay in the room until 5:30 because of the bugs.

The room smelled like the entire floor and walls had been immersed is piss and like the cleaning people tried to mask it with a quick wipe down and spray. When asked if we could switch rooms we were told there wouldn’t be anything available until the next morning and because it was 1am we had to stay because there was no place else to go. The next morning we finally were moved to a different room and this time it smelled like cigarettes which was arguably better but now half the lights wouldn’t turn on. Sonny gave me fast, friendly and efficient guest service. Only walkable restaurant nearby was In and Out but I like In and Out. There are a couple of service stations nearby where i can get coffee and a little something.

A room near our was mark off with crime scene tape and a homeless person was camping out near by. Inside the room, I immediately noticed a weird smell, a burn mark on one of the comforters (it was supposed to be a non smoking room), the bathroom door couldn’t be secured or locked, the shower had hair all over it and a corner on the bathroom ceiling was wet and covered with black spots (assuming black mold and probably why it smelled).

Customer service was awesome but the bed is really uncomfortable and you can literally feel the mattress springs.

The only good thing, there wasn’t any roaches/bed bugs in the room and the towels were clean and soft. There was also hot water and the pool was actually clean. Don’t chance staying here. It’s got to be one of the worst motels I have been too!!!

Check was ok for me I informed the young man who checked me in that my husband and gave him his name would be coming to get his key and check in the vehicle around 6 or 630 ish and that I would not be there I would be volunteering at the high school for my grandson's football game. He said he understood and there would be no issue. Well when my husband showed up he got the run around for over an hour before * took a break and saw his messages about being told I was not staying there and that he didn't know anything about the room he was suppose to get a key for. About 9 pm he was finally let into my room after I told him the room number but even then the guy didn't want to give him a key. The bathroom door did not close, it was broken. I called the office for a wake up call as I had to be at the soccer field by 8:15 as I am a AYSO reff and has a 9am game he said no problem got it 7am. I got a wake up call at 8am as I was leaving the room

I’ve stayed here maybe a dozen times and while it’s not the best it’s always been clean and comfortable. This time I left covered in bites (not sure if it was fleas or bedbugs). I asked to change rooms after my second night and that room had a leak in the wall. There was water on the bathroom floor and it smelled of mold. I won’t be staying here again.

Despite one housekeeper that had a bad attitude, I wouldn't let her change my opinion of this motel 6 because she's replaceable...the guys at the front desk were all very amazing. Great customer service, my favorite was Sunny, he was extremely personable, understanding and was not judgemental by any means. My trip was fine. I was expecting to have a microwave and a refrigerator in my room, and that was my the case. I had to walk to the office to hear my food. I like the other motel 6 in that city so much better.

The room smelled like untimely, the bathroom had mold. Probably one of the worst Motel 6s I’ve stayed at.

Just a chill place to stay

Check-in was great! But, there was a “meeting” of a bunch of teens in big trucks in and around the hotel parking lot around 10pm. They were peeling out and had music really loud. This wasn’t the hotels fault but it took almost an hour for the cops to come. We couldn’t even park near our room because all the people that were illegally parked there took all the hotel parking. The bed was hard and we could feel springs in the mattress and the bathroom smelled like old cigarette smoke. There was a car that parked right by our room that had loud music off and on after midnight and kept revving his engine so our room a/c brought in his exhaust smell and another car with fake tags that I believe people slept in all night in front of our room too.

Really bad area there were non guests taking parking lots some kind of truck or show down idk and crazy screaming in parking lot. Really bad smell the ac didn’t work right horrible humidity in room and the bedding was so used and thin my son used his shirt as a pillow case. I would have left but we were so tired and no time to find another hotel. This was definitely the worst motel 6 I have ever stayed in but the people at the desk were nice. I really hope this place can get an upgrade and better standards. Sorry just being honest my son works for a pest control company and was looking with lights for bedbugs but at least not in our room that night 🙃

Service staff not friendly

The room was pretty basic and very humid. Smells a little mildew like. I did find a cockroach crawling in the desk when I was packing to leave and there were some knats in the room. The bed was comfortable. I probably wouldn't stay there again but it was about 15 minutes from seal beach very convenient for a short stay.

There was hair on my towels. Then a kid with a group of kids under 18 were able to get a room without putting a credit card for damages. That seemed off and unfair.

Clean room friendly staff

Cheap and no frills but great service and it was clean and very comfortable.

THE PROPERTY WAS DIRTY, DOG POOP EVERYWHERE. THE FLOOR IN THE ROOM WAS DISGUSTING. THE FLOOR IN THE SHOWER WAS DIRTY AND MOLD ALL OVER THE BATHROOM. I WAS IN A BOTTOM FLOOR ROOM AND THE PEOPLE UPSTAIRS WERE VERY NOISY ALL NIGHT UNTIL 1100. IT WAS THE WORST STAY I EVER HAD ANYWHERE. ABSOLUTLY NO SLEEP THEN HAD TO DRIVE FOR 4 HOURS THE FOLLOWING MORNING. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE NOT ON METH.

I woukd definitely recommend staying at this hotel. It’s clean and the staff is extremely nice and very helpful. It’s close to restaurants.

The AC slowed down after day 1 but still felt great

The place smells so bad AC doesn’t work homeless around the facility no coffee coffee is dirty. Worst experience ever.

I just needed a quick stay from this heat due to electric problems at my home being fixed so we needed AC. Needed something affordable. Looked really nice online and area looked decent. Once i arrived i was shocked. Alot of homeless encampments, unsafe place for a family, some activity going on in and out of the motel. First night a random person walked into my room and said they accidentally got the number wrong. Second night theres fighting and screams outside third night i ended up not even staying i just went home. The staff were kind people its just the area is not good and also the room was terrible. Non smoking smelled like cigarettes, the bathrooms had mold, beds had cigarette burns, walls had stains on them, only thing i enjoyed was AC. I will not ever book this place again. Very unfortunate because i stayed at other motel 6 locations in the past and none have ever been this bad.

we had to sign an agreement to not smoke in the rooms!! But the room stunk! Horrible cleaning products, a terrible stench of smoke! I have allergies and you can tell people had in fact smoked in the room! All of my clothing stunk, major headache!! You get what you pay for. I’ll never stay here again! It was a last minute stay never again!

Peaceful stay

The check-in was normal. The cleanliness was better than expected for the money I paid. The stay was worth the money.

Great place if you want a quick turn around. Pool doesn't work though so don't stay if you want that.

Property next to freeway and in n out is a plus. Place does have alot of dog poo that need to be pick up to keep the place clean. Room was nice, bathroom smell of urine, water prssure is weak and parking is tite. Staff was friendly. Place was very quiet for being next to a freeway.

Did not stay there.The bedding was stained.The floor was sticky.The air conditioner was right up against one of the beds.

The office staff is amazing!!

The door didn’t lock, big ass roaches, shower curtains were barely hanging on and I waited and waited for a room to be ready. Poor service, pool was dirty and not running. Everything about this place was bad…. It advertised well, but everything I read was a big fat lie.

Very nice affordable stay

Bed is super comfy in the room that I stayed in. The property exterior grounds and parking lot where dirty with trash and broken glass randomly here and there. The pool had not been cleaned for a while and was closed.

We booked this particular Motel6 for the pool, only to find although it’s not officially out of use - it’s brown, opaque and probably more toxic than Salton Sea. And on the subject of water, I was cleaner before I showered. The security latch on the door was broken and there are sketchy characters lurking, day & night. The room wasn’t ready at check in time and they wouldn’t issue a refund despite waiting a couple hours. They then offered another room which didn’t have the fridge & microwave that we’d paid extra for and wouldn’t refund the difference. My standards for motels are generally low but I really would suggest virtually anywhere else.

Smelled like cigarettes trying to be disguised by chemical cleaner. Noisy person upstairs and a machine noise going on all night.

Staff are very nice and helpful, rooms are nice and the price is always good. Very happy with my stays.

P.s. Don’t bother with the pool. It can pass as a swamp. Not swimmable…

Rooms were extremely small and pool was definitely not in working order which was slightly disappointing just because it is the hottest week of the year and the website does not disclose that the pool is out of order. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay

Pleasant stay

Staff was nice. Rooms are small and pool is very gross but the stay was pleasant. We are staying an extra 2 nights.

The staff was extremely helpful with anything needed.

Dirty room, dirty bed sheets, everything is dirty on that property!

They should have simple question if they put u in 2nd floor that be mindful of ppl sleeping downstairs.

Bugs on the bed

Just an average, no frills room and decent for the money.

Everything was fine except for the nasty swimming pool yuck brown and gross. The toilet would run if you didn’t jiggle the handle. AC was awesome. Kept us very cool

Booked this room for Warped Tour 2025. Was a nice stay for the time being. I’ve booked again for next year :)

More importantly we felt safe in the hotel and within the area, there is gas station just across the street, and best of all there is a In-n-Out practically in the parking lot. Only gripe we had is the showers are funny, but certainly not a deal breaker, and that could have just been unique to our room. Absolutely would return back!

The stay wasn’t bad, it was quiet at least. The property is in dire need of an update. The bathrooms all looked grimey as well as the floors. They felt sticky and I almost slept with shoes on. The bathrooms also need a heavy update. From the showers to the toilets. Mine wouldn’t flush right. The upsides to this property were; Parking was easy and plentiful In n Out is right outside your doorstep which is convenient. There is also food nearby despite outside construction of local businesses. The staff was really helpful and friendly And it was quiet. I’ve stayed in terrible places before and even though this wasn’t as bad as some. It definitely could have been better compared to it’s pricing.

Friendly and efficient front desk staff member. My room was clean, well stocked and every thing functioned well

Tho I could smell the pool from outside my room tho, I took a peek it was closed, it looked like green sludge, more than water.

Bed was rough ans horrible, when taking a shower the water leaked all over the floor, was not throughly cleaned, looked like the maid did not want to do the hard to reach areas
