good overall but not perfect

We booked a Junior 2 Queen Bed Suite, which worked perfectly for our family. The separate sitting area with a pull-out couch gave our kids their own space to sleep. This made the room feel much larger and more comfortable than a standard hotel room. Our front-facing room also had a great partial view of the Washington Monument, which was a special bonus. The hotel also went above and beyond for my birthday by surprising us with delicious mini cupcakes and sparkling water, which was a thoughtful touch and greatly appreciated! The staff was outstanding, particularly Luciana at the front desk. We arrived before our room was ready at 3:00 PM, and she provided excellent recommendations for places to visit and ways to spend our time nearby. Her friendly and helpful attitude set the tone for a great stay. Families should know about the children’s program, which includes a mini library where kids can earn “Duck Bucks” and redeem them for treats at the cafe. Our children loved it and it added a fun, unique element to the stay. One tip for future guests: the minibar uses a weighted sensor system. If you pick up an item, even just to look at it, you may be charged.

This historic property is beautifully maintained and centrally located near the mall and museums, Old Ebbit Grill and Joes Crab, among other eateries. Also, the Round Robin grill, named by Walt Whitman, offers good food and great drinks. It is only one of two bars in the US to ask me if I wanted my martini stirred or shaken. The suites are spacious and amentities fine.

I liked the building’s historical design I didn’t like the “ amenities “ charge of 40 dollars for things I didn’t use . Basically a tax for nothing and I don’t think it’s appropriate given that these things are paid for when booking the room.

The property is beautiful, the staff mostly friendly and the rooms nice. However, anything relating to dining makes this place a nightmare. Their desserts are inedible. The maitre are rude, and because of restaurant renovations, they spill the dining room into corridors making it uncomfortable to use the facilities or even cross the hotel.

The room was freezing and they couldn't fix the heating so they moved me to another room and told me I would have a discount which they did not then give me.

The location was Washington, DC. The hotel is the loveliest in the area. Our room was beautiful and quiet on the 3rd floor. The restaurant dining experience was not up to our standard. Breakfast was fine, but dinner left a lot to be desired.

The hotel is five stars, but the service is only one star. When I arrived, I spoke to the reception staff and told them I care a lot about cleanliness. He answered confidently and said all the rooms are clean. When I entered the room, I found food crumbs on the chair and the bed, and the mirrors were not clean. It is acceptable, but it does not deserve the price and does not match a five-star hotel level. They charged me 100 dollars extra, not including the 100-dollar deposit. There is also a daily service tax that is non-refundable. I asked the staff to explain the bill. He said I must pay 32 dollars every day to use in the restaurant or the spa. Whether I use it or not, I still have to pay. They never informed me about this before.

Great historic hotel, remodel is lovely, elegant architecture, terrific location, wonderful staff -- folks who have been there for ages and love the hotel and its history. They were delighted to share information on the hotel. Effective, efficient service. Excellent breakfast. Love the carpets, furniture, mixture of gorgeous old lamps, marble and updated upholstery. Terrific paintings. Elegant guests. Well dressed, well mannered, choir singing Christmas carols in the lobby. Gorgeous Christmas decorations. BRAVO!!!

Worst hotel experience of my life. We had a room reserved and when we arrived at the property they didn’t honor it and switched us to an another hotel that was less expensive in a bad part of town. They charged us for both and I had to spend an hour trying to rectify it.

The hotel public spaces were very nice and well maintained. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Don’t miss afternoon tea in Peacock Alley, my grandchildren really enjoyed the experience. There is a little museum with the history of the hotel, we found it quite interesting.

The Willard Hotel provides an unforgettable experience. The Historic Hotel itself with amazing ambience coupled with first class attentive staff consistently makes an amazing stay in DC. This was my fourth visit at the Willard and I will not consider staying any place else when I visit DC.

We love this historic hotel right in the heart of DC. It is gorgeous and convenient. The ballrooms are to-die-for and we secretly hope that one of our children will have a wedding reception here. The afternoon tea is so lovely. We happened on this hotel late at night almost 20 years ago when we decided to pull over after a long day of car travel. The kind staff quickly accommodated us with our four weary children by getting us into our room quickly and setting up two baby cribs. We have been loyal patrons ever since.

Such a wonderful stay. The property is very convenient to the national mall; all the monuments and Smithsonian museums are within walking distance. The room was spacious with comfortable beds. The service was impeccable. We look forward to staying again.

It's like traveling back in time to when the hotel was built. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is amazing.

Our favorite in D.C. I think Cafe du Parc needs to be expanded. The coffee shop area needs to be expanded, including more help. These are minor. The hotel is well worth the price. Restful and old world, without being pretentious.

We loved this stay. It’s elegant and the staff is so kind. The restaurant is very good. The location couldn’t have been better. We will return here for sure!

Disappointing. We were overcharged for parking after we were told it was waived. Staff was rude. Our sink flooded and we couldn’t use it. Unacceptable for the price we paid for the room. Disappointed.

They charge a lot for a room, which I get. But then they have low class habits like charging for snacks in the room, and upcharging $35/nt for "amenities" that the hotel provides, such as internet and gym. You are already paying for that level of quality. Low class, Willard, low class.

The Willard is an iconic DC hotel and it was a blast staying here. The lobby and main floor are elegant and tasteful. Our room was spacious and had a cool view of downtown. We were also walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Definitely recommend.

Was not informed the restaurant was under renovation when we booked. Also called about mini fridge not cooling and no one ever came to check it out. Plus side they did accommodate both an early check in and late check out.

Always a delight to stay here for the New Years gala. Some small problem with moldy residue in the shower which was not addressed after reporting this to the front desk but otherwise a lovely room.

The holiday decorations were elegant and sophisticated. I was disappointed that there was no evening turndown with treats. At another hotel where we stayed after leaving the Willard we had nightly little brandy glasses with a small bottle of amaretto and chocolates, with a turned down bed and new water bottles.

Property was located close to event we needed to attend.

This property needs upgrade. We picked this hotel to stay for historic significance but it would have been better to visit the hotel as tourist. Lobby area is great but not maintained or cleaned during peak hours. Room is clean but bed is totally not comfortable. Service needs to be improved as well.

Loved our stay. Only downside was waiting 45 minutes for valet to return our car to leave. Other than that, loved every moment!

The Willard had no record of my reservation. I'd appreciate if someone could contact me to let me know what happened. Thank goodness they weren't sold out otherwise i'm not sure what i would have done. I've been a long time orbitz customer but questioning if i'd use in the future after this experience.
