Reviews
The hotel staff is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness. The location is also a highlight, with guests appreciating its proximity to restaurants, shops, and public transportation. However, there are recurring complaints about the noise level, particularly from the air conditioning units, and some guests have expressed disappointment with the size of the rooms.
- Friendly and helpful staff

- Noisy air conditioning units

Clean and fun property. Very welcoming. The rooftop bar is great for relaxing after exploring Washington D.C.

Our room didn’t have electricity the technician opened the utility box to turn it on then he said it was never broke. The heat didn’t work. The restaurant didn’t have any almond milk Inc act one day they said they didn’t have any milk. The rooms are very small. There no extra toilet paper in the room I had to ask for another roll.

Very nice hotel, clean with excellent bedding. Super comfortable!

Hotel is a little run down and needs updating but service was very good and great location. The bathroom is extremely small.

Great location, on Sunday morning there was a great farmers market right down the road and it was easy to walk to landmarks. We had a little mix up with valet but in the end it was fine. Also we could not figure out the TV but it was fine for the one night we stayed.
- 5/5
Great location, very near metro and plenty of eateries. Fab rooftop bar.

The General Manager made it a top priority to correct the error of the front desk personnel The employee that checked me in wrote the incorrect room number on the room card she gave to me. After multiple attempts at opening the door, I went back downstairs to get the issue corrected. The General Manager realized the employee wrote the room number incorrectly and explained it to the employee. The employee never acknowledged or apologized for her error.

The room was as advertised, clean and spacious. The gym was good, but some of the equipment needs repair. We started to go to the rooftop lounge, but the elevator lobby was dirty, the restroom was out of order, and there was trash in the chair lift. A very unappealing destination.

Bathroom so small that only one person at a time.

Staff was fantastic

Staff was extremely pleasant a d knowledgeable about local restaurants.

We highly recommend this hotel! The staff goes above and beyond and was friendly and professional. The hotel is quiet and conveniently located to a Metro station as well as many dining and shopping options.
- 5/5
It's a nice hotel, good bed, good pillows, good shower. However the furniture inside the bedroom screams to be renovated. Staff was great and location is good, pretty safe area.

Breakfast selection was good and reasonably priced. Terrific omelets. Good coffee!

This hotel was beautiful and perfect for us. Everything was very clean and the staff was beyond accommodating. The location was perfect for us and is in a very walkable neighborhood. 10/10.
- 3/5
Location is beautiful No microwave or iron box in the room. These things are very important for stay in a hotel. The booking.com did not inform the staff properly about the requirements. The site showed breakfast included, I believe every customer likes breakfast, if it is available on the hotel site as an amenity, you don't have to request it. As the staff informed, there is no breakfast available, so we had to get breakfast from outside 2 days, and got it corrected by one staff and got it rest of the days.

Passable
- 4/5
Generally a good option, especially location. There are details that could be better… they need to replace hairdryers. I went through 2 that quit working after 2 mins. I ordered room service for breakfast and it arrived in disposable containers (tho I certainly paid for a finer dining service). Even in the dining room the coffee comes in paper cups. These cheapen the experience and just seem like stupid choices for an otherwise good hotel.
- 5/5
breakfast, so so. Croissants not good. No toast with eggs
- 3/5
Nice staff in a great area. Man this is missing some BASIC things. No body wash for the bathroom, phone didn’t work, door didn’t close all the way so you have to forcibly close it…you’re paying to be in the area, not for the quality of your stay
- 4/5
Some of the hallways and common areas in need of updating. That said, I will be back.

- 5/5
Great staff, check in/out was very smooth. Room service was fast & complete. My room was ready early & had a bathtub, which made me very happy. Staff was very accommodating to my every request.
- 4/5
The room wasn't as clean as I had expected being a Marriott property, she said tears, and there was some mold in the bathroom.
- 4/5
Minor thing but the bathroom felt small. Shower water pressure was poor.
- 5/5
The Ven is centrally located on a scenic side street in Dupont Circle with easy access to restaurants, bars, buses, and the Metro. Our room was clean, spacious, and modern, and had everything we needed. Front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. We'll definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
great location and staff, great decor and hotel lobby. My room 413 had holes in the curtain and a big, dark brown stain that was an eye sore. Also, noise sensitivity is very high with cleaning staff outside in the hallway. Other than that, I would stay here again if the property had better curtains and maybe a desk for dining.
- 5/5
Nice & clean room. Friendly staff.
- 1/5
There was blood on the bedsheet and when I called them that housekeeper wasn't apologetic infact she was saying "oh it looks like fresh blood" so I told her look at me, I'm not bleeding and have no wounds. She took pictures and changed the sheets but that was disgusting

Kind staff. Convenient location

Good room but tiny with few space for luggage.
- 5/5
Great stay. Convenient location just around the corner from DuPont Circle. I arrived in the morning several hours before check-in. They held my bags and called me when the room was ready. The staff was very courteous. I didn’t eat in the restaurant, but it looked very nice as well.
- 3.5/5
I was only there for one night, so I did not explore much in the hotel. The room was large, spotless, and perfectly comfortable. Staff were nice and helpful. Location was perfect, as it's around the corner from the Metro. I would stay there again. Too many false fire alarms when I was there. And the traffic is so bad that you could be waiting 30+ minutes for a taxi. Plan accordingly.

The room with the view was awesome. The staff - Helen at the front desk, the bartender (didn't get his name - older gentlemen with shoulder length hair), and the bell hops were extremely nice and provided great customer service.
- 5/5
Ease of check in. Although when I purchased food from their restaurant they didn’t want to honor the website offerings. I was happy that the gentleman was able to accommodate anyway.

Staff was fantastic. Every person seemed extra friendly and accommodating.

- 5/5
The location is great, the staff was nice and helpful and the bed was really comfortable. Valet was a little pricy though
- 5/5
Very courteous staff. Valet parking with electric vehicle charging. Nice to leave with a full charge! There was a slight error on my billing (honest mistake) and they fixed immediately. Also, gave a nice late checkout so we could explore DC a bit more before we departed. Also, get the breakfast package. Worth it!
- 5/5
We will definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Lovely customer service!

I enjoyed another wonderful stay at the Van while in Washington DC on business. The friendly and professional staff is always appreciated. looking forward to my next visit.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
Fantastic stay!
- 5/5
Our favorite place to stay whenever my fiancée and I come to DC ! Highly recommend!
- 4/5
It’s a great hotel and rooftop pool, and the DuPont Circle area is fantastic. Just be aware that kids under 18 are not allowed in the pool area after 5 or 6:00 (can’t remember the exact time). The hotel website explains that, but I don’t think that Expedia does.
- 3/5
Accommodation was okay, however shared spaces not clean especially the lobby furniture had stains of beverages. The lift had was littered most times and evidence of not being cleaned for some time.
- 4/5
Rooms were clean, but very small rooftop pool was open, but not very well maintained dirty towels laying around. The staff that I did deal with they were amazing.
- 5/5
Peaceful stay!
- 5/5
Amazing experience!
- 3/5
Room had very damaged wall mirror..bathroom door..loud air conditioner
- 5/5
We had a wonderful experience at this hotel! We arrived a few hours before the official check-in time, and to our surprise, our room was already ready. The early check-in process was quick and seamless. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of champagne and even received a few thoughtful souvenirs, which made us feel truly special. Everything went smoothly from start to finish- a perfect start to our stay. Highly recommend!

Excellent staff and property
- 5/5
This was my fourth visit to this property and I couldn’t be happier. They pay incredible attention to Customer Care at this property and are very concerned that your stay is as excellent as possible. I also love the size of this property and everything it offers.
- 5/5
The younger female manager was amazing and very accommodating.she was always smiling and very upbeat. The waitress/bartender Miss. Monica served the best drinks. The food and beverage manager Chris resolved my situation without hesitation and made sure I was happy.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful and considerate in all our interactions. I would return to stay at the Ven for future trips.
- 5/5
Great time, clean facility
- 5/5
The property manager was wonderful and responsive to our needs.
- 4/5
Very comfy bed, decent shower, great staff. . .restaurant just OK. Excellent location at Duport Circle/Embassy Row. I saw signs of needed (cosmetic) maintenance like scuffed/scraped paint on doorways, minor shower mildew, etc. Overall fine property--I'd stay again.
- 4/5
My stay at Ven was good. Property and staff is nice. I stayed on second floor and every time i entered the room my room smelled of food(I never brought in any food) . One morning i woke up with smell of bacon.
- 5/5
Great location, nice pool and great staff.
- 4/5
Nice place
- 3/5
The bathrooms are very small and not enough room for two people to get dressed at the same time.
- 5/5
Kind and courteous front desk, and housekeeping people. Great vibe and atmosphere.
- 5/5
Really nice place along Embassy Row. Walking distance to many places esp CVS Pharmacy. Glad to get free valet thx to Hotels.com... A few welcome gifts. A bar and restaurant was nice too. Great fun on the roof watching fireworks.
- 5/5
Alain was wonderful!
- 3/5
The positives: good locaton for the Metro stop, comfortable bed and very good housekeeping. Some nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The not so good: there's obviously been some sort of refurb however it's surface level at best - aging and noisy air con units, old sockets and light fixtures, chipped and peeling bathroom mirror - basically nothing beyond a slap of paint and a roll of wallpaper. We were also in an adjoining room and the noise insulation was extremely poor. Like, bad. We decided to book The Ven because of the pool, and wanting to jump in at the end of a busy day sightseeing, however we found it to be extremely unkempt and therefore unwelcoming so we only ended up using it once. No one seemed to be keeping on top of the used towels, replenishing fresh towels, clearing the used cups and napkins rolling around etc. For an area you walk around without shoes on it also felt quite dirty underfoot. So yeah, it did the job, but will be trying somewhere different next time I'm in town.
- 5/5
Loved the food and convenience
- 4/5
Great and centrally located. Well appointed with a large gym, reception area and onsite bar. Using the destination fee as a daily food and beverage credit is nice and incentivized us to get food and drinks each day. However, it would be good to communicate that the food and beverage credit can also cover tip and tax. The pool is smaller than what the pictures make it out to be but was much welcome relief in the hot weather. The rooms were fine, though a bit dated. The bed was very comfortable. However the bathrooms could do with a refresh and the shower didn’t have much water pressure.
- 5/5
Front Entrance--Lugging my suitcase up a set of stairs at the entrance to the Hotel was a chore. There was no doorman. Please consider installing a set of escalators.
- 4/5
Watch out for how they apply the fees on this property when you check out. There is a destination fee that they say is credited towards food and drink but the associates don’t often apply it that way and it affects your final bill significantly. Other than that it was a great stay that is very close to the DuPont circle subway and thus very walkable for visiting the whole city
- 4/5
nice hotel
- 5/5
We had a great time at The Ven. The location was perfect for our girls trip, walkable to plenty of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the farmers market on Sunday and lots of people out and about in DuPont Circle. The staff at The Ven was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were greeted with champagne in the lobby every day and they gave us some great recommendations for places to go in the city. A special thank you to Cookie at the front desk for being so welcoming and helpful. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. The rooftop bar and pool were nice and would have spent more time there if we had the weather for it! Would definitely stay again next time in DC

- 5/5
Lovely hotel, staff was very friendly at the front desk and at the bar, the room was clean. My only complaint is that on day one the complimentary coffee was great and hot and there were all different milk choices etc. The second day the coffee was lukewarm, the oat milk was spoiled and the whole coffee station was pretty bare, had to wait for coffee.
- 5/5
The stay was amazing! The staff are amazing especially Cookie!!
- 4/5
Only negative is pillows and beds need upgrades.
- 5/5
Good location, very convenient.
- 5/5
The location was perfect! Walkable to great areas!

Great location, friendly helpful staff, lots of dining options within walking distance and close to metro station!
- 5/5
A really great experience a really great experience
- 5/5
Great service!! Would definitely recommend to anyone.
- 5/5
No issues!
- 4/5
Staff was great but air conditioning not working in our room
- 4/5
The Ven is in an excellent location, a short walk to the Metro red line. It's very comfortable and well maintained. Only the cockroach in my bathroom one morning marred my visit. But hey, it's the city. At least it wasn't a rat, right?
- 4/5
There was a $28 / day / room "fee" which was added. The first I found out about it was when we checked in. At tht point it was too late to make other arrangements.
- 5/5
The property was visually enchanting, with immaculate landscaping and thoughtfully curated details that caught the eye at every turn. The staff members exuded warmth and approachability, always ready to lend a hand with a genuine smile. Their attentive service was a testament to their dedication, making each guest feel valued and cared for throughout their stay.
- 4/5
Always a good choice.
- 4/5
The room was comfortable enough. The bed and linen very comfortable. It could have been a bit more updated but looked nice. We got the breakfast package. Food was good a buffet on Sunday would have been nice. The coffee at breakfast was not good was very weak. Would have been nice to use the. Rooftop lounge.
- 4/5
I stayed 2 nights and had a mostly pleasant experience. The hotel is lovely. Check-in was easy, but there are a few steps going up to the lobby and no accessible elevator. There was a service elevator with no access. I am able bodied, but people with mobility issues

The staff was friendly and helpful.

Great location at Dupont Circle and a nice property!
- 4/5
Great experience
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. They went above and beyond to assist after my husband broke his ankle sightseeing. The room was comfortable and the amenities were excellent. We will definitely keep The Ven on our list for our next visit to DC.
- 5/5
Great location. Ok price.
- 5/5
I could take a shower, but the water never got REALLY hot. Staff was great and the $28/day credit in restaurant had us eating there for most meals....but the food was wonderful! The bus tour pass was a PLUS...we did that the morning before we went to airport. Thank you!!!
- 5/5
Definitely recommend!
- 5/5
Very clean, convenient location, wished we could have taken advantage of more of the perks you offer. Overall, good value for a DC hotel. We enjoyed the artwork exhibit. Only critique is the restaurant menu could use a few more options for the less adventurous.
- 5/5
The staff were all friendly. The restaurant and bar inside the hotel was very good as well.
- 5/5
Liked that it was near embassies, felt safe.
- 5/5
Property was fine. The Big Bus amenity was not well understood by the weekend front desk staff which led us to missing the bus on one day and folks not knowing about the tickets another day which caused a delay. Resort fee is hard to spend unless you eat all your meals at the hotel which is unreasonable so it is just a tack on charge disguised as an amenity.
- 5/5
Friendly, helpful staff. Great location, and affordable.
- 4/5
Lots of hidden fees and charged nightly rates different from the booking on this website. Otherwise nice place, great location, accessible for walking and metro around the city.
- 5/5
The hotel was perfectly located. The staff was more than kind and generous. Expedia listed our price as everything included only to find a "Destination Fee" was added to our bill. They ended up removing the charge but Expedia should know better than to list a Marriott hotel without explaining they have a destination fee to add to your total.
- 5/5
Was a great stay, great service and convenient location. Would stay again!
- 5/5
Everyone was very courteous here. My room was colorful and I had a great view. I'd definitely return.
- 2/5
Shower wasn’t hot, dirty towels left in bathroom, no hand soap. But front desk was nice enough and the bartender man was cool.
- 5/5
Great experience all around EXCEPT ordered breakfast at 10:20 Sunday morning. At 11:40 called to see what is going on and they informed me that the system they use to download the food orders was down. If I can offer a suggestion, notify guests of this when it happens and then offer an alternative ordering measure.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, delicious restaurant, free parking was a huge plus, small room. Free water in room, coffee was ok.
- 5/5
Wow! I am a former DC resident who was visiting to fix up my condo. I chose the Ven based on location and price. I was blown away by this hotel! The staff were SO kind and welcoming, and the room was adorable. They even gave me face masks and a friendship bracelet at check-in! The location is great - right in Dupont Circle - and only a three minute walk to the red line. I highly recommend this hotel!
- 5/5
Service was very good, the hotel is well located, clean, comfortable, and has plenty of amenities.

the room, people at front desk, all were excellent

Stunning location on Embassy Row close to Metro. Attentive staff, nice decor. Resort fee included $28 in food credits, cute tote bag and facial masks and also free hop on bus tickets. Great value for weekend stay.
- 5/5
Nice boutique rooms. Bathrooms a bit dated. Could be cleaner, byt lounge lobby was nice/relaxing
- 5/5
Reasonable price, amazing service, close to everything. Will stay again!
- 2/5
Walls beat up, chipped paint. Check in staff was friendly and professional. Restaurant was empty.
- 5/5
The hotel is really nice. There is valet parking right on site, a restaurant on the first floor, and room service. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and the staff was attentive. It's a perfect location for conveniently walking around downtown. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
The staff were very helpful and friendly. we enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Great hotel and location. Valet was a nice perk, breakfast was good. Overall a excellent hotel
- 1/5
But these past 2 nights will be our last. The heat was so loud all night that we never slept. We heard this from several people as well. The hotel was not busy. Maybe this is the reason. The bed is the only thing comfortable as rooms are very small. But that is true of many convenient DC hotels. But the HVAC noise is like a wind tunnel. The same thing is true in summer, but I thought they would have fixed it by now. Because the hotel is older, the winter is horrible as the hot air need to constantly go on to keep warm and it is not only beyond noisy, its is so dry !!
- 5/5
-Floor layout was a little strange, water pressure wasn't great and it took a while for the water to get hot Overall, a lovely hotel in a great location that we can't wait to stay at again :-)
- 5/5
Had such a great time and will be staying here again. The staff was especially helpful.

The stay was amazing and so was the majority of the staff. In fact, Wanda service desk representative went above and beyond. However, there one representative name Cooke who was rude. I decided not let let her overshadow what was otherwise an amazing stay

My second time at this hotel. Everything about it satisfies me. Specially the customer service with the front desk. I will always indicate to people I know. Very much satisfied.
- 5/5
Excellent stay in heart of Dupont.
- 3/5
Dated property. Carpeting is stained both in the hallways and the rooms. Terrible shower curtains. Fridge was “plopped” on the floor with no thought. I’d rather not have one. Lighting in rooms is terrible. Housekeeping and bar staff were great!
