Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown

Overall, the hotel is great. The lobby is beautiful and stylish. I was impressed upon walking in. The bed was very comfortable. The employees are attentive and professional. The room was very clean, which is important. They were also accommodating of my late check-out request, which was greatly appreciated. The window of my room was facing another building, so there wasn't much of a view. I wasn't too disappointed since I didn't spend much time in my room, but I had hoped for a more pleasant view. Although the public/gathering spaces of the hotel were impressive, I think that the experience of visitors could be improved through the actual rooms. The room was spacious enough and the furniture was comfortable, but I would have liked for there to have been a foldable luggage rack available. The seat next to the wardrobe wasn't big enough to lay my suitcase out and putting it on the couch at the foot of the bed wasn't ideal. While the furniture was updated, you could tell that some things were a bit dated and needed an update such as the doors and locks (other than the door to enter the room). I don't know if all of the rooms are like this, but I was in an interconnecting room and didn't anticipate it. As a solo traveler, it just makes me feel less secure/safe. Especially because of the noise. I could hear the TV and rummaging around, probably from the other room. Navigating the path from my room back to the elevator was confusing at first and the signs could be improved to make it easier. And lastly, I didn't like that the room didn't have a mini fridge or microwave. I like to go out a lot on trips and have snacks, drinks, and food in the room to eat at night. The mini fridge in the room was just for the mini bar, so you can't use it. You can request a fridge. I would've just preferred if having a mini fridge and microwave was standard for the room to be most convenient. I also wish that the pool was open later. Running around all day, I didn't have time to go to the pool. Towards the end of the day, it'd be nice to go, but it's closed by then. The online check-out link was broken, so I would've preferred to use that for a quicker and easier check-out process.

It’s a clean property and tastefully designed. Very quiet and would be a great place to bring a family. The issue was our bathtub would not drain while the shower was on. We called down the first morning to report the issue and by evening it was never fixed, so we called again and someone came and said it was fixed. The next morning it still wouldn’t drain so we reported it again. By the third day it got fixed and they took off one of our lobby bar tabs to apologize. However, with this being a five star hotel I do not think it should take three days, and three complaints. Also, the bathrooms are out dated with zero storage for any of your personal items. It’s just a normal bath/shower and bathroom sink with apron style vanity. Oh and do not be deceived by “balcony”! I stayed at this particular hotel and paid more for that luxury thinking it would be nice to sit on the balcony, but the balcony is SMALL! One person may be able to stand on it…

If you're looking at this hotel, go ahead and book it! Not only is it luxurious and friendly, but you'll find at least 5 taxis by it at any time (a definite plus when certain Metro lines are being repaired). Added bonus: the signature house fragrance is unspeakably delicious. You will love your stay here!

Convenient walk to restaurants and shopping in Georgetown. Beautiful hotel and large room! The Bar is very cool as well.

However, it’s wasn’t perfect: we arrived off a late flight at the end of an extended trip with a lot of luggage, and were offered no help with heavy bags - struggling to drag suitcases over plush carpets at the end of a line by day was less than ideal. Strangely, our experience leaving the hotel was the same - as we struggled through the doors with luggage and had to call our own taxi, the staff watched in silence. It was a slightly odd level of service for a 5 star luxury hotel. Also, if you’re interested in the pool, please be aware that it’s not a nice relaxing space… it’s a utilitarian basement pool with lane ropes surrounded by windows looked over by a busy gym, and the pool itself has a lot of rehab equipment and is booked out for that purpose much of the time. It’s probably great for morning fitness, but if you are looking for a vacation style pool, this isn’t it.

If you can stay on the Executive level. Snacks and drinks all day long, a great happy hour hors d'oeuvres spread and also breakfast. Staff is totally on top of everything and super friendly and accommodating. This is closer to a five star hotel

Our phone was broken and there was no water in the room (we had a suite). The rooms are getting a bit run down could use a refresh. When I turned the lock to open the bar the whole thing came apart! responded very quickly to our needs.

Joe at the front desk was exceptional. I had problems with my room the first night, & he took ownership of the situation & resolved it perfectly for me. Because of this, my stay was wonderful. Very expensive room service breakfast

Hotel and room were great. One of the reasons we booked the hotel though was the access to the lap pool at Balance Gym. It was overrun with kids to such an extent that we could rarely swim laps. My suggestion would be to leave one lane for lap swim and the other for children and other non-lap swimmers to use.

Even after asking the front desk/engineers to increase the temperature, the room never exceeded 67-68 degrees. 2) Although the front desk was responsive, I'm not sure about their competence. They misgendered my salutation on my invoice. This shouldn't happen for a Fairmont property. 3) I didn't like the attitude of the gym staff, simply for getting towels for my family. I don't like to be bothered needlessly by staff when trying to relax. 4) The housekeeper left chemical cleaners in our room. 5) Valet parking was $70 per night, more expensive than Manhattan!

The location of the hotel is great, the room was okay although a bit old fashioned, but it is annoying that the hotel still charges for internet in this day and age, and the gym is open only nominally until 10 pm but basically closes at 9 pm - not great for people with jet lag.

Cleanliness My experience at this hotel was very disappointing. There was no porter available at the main gate to assist with luggage, and overall, the staff showed no sense of hospitality. Both check-in and check-out were slow, poorly managed, and frustrating. The service fell far below expectations. There are far better hotels in central locations that not only offer better service but also at more reasonable prices. I would not recommend this property.

We love the Fairmont Hotels and this was our first stay in the DC area. My only complaint would be to make updates to the bathrooms. The toilet was too low and did not flush well. The bathroom lighting was poor and the make up mirror was not lighting and not attached properly.

Our continued dislike is the fact that access to Wi-Fi is not considered a standard amenity, and you need to subscribe/pay for it separately. Definitely a missed opportunity for the hotel to complete its high level of customer service.

Friendly staff and good location. The gym downstairs is very large. The room was very noisy since it was close to the elevator. There was also lots of noise coming from the courtyard late into the night (loud music). The swimming pool is small and not really designed for laps.

The hotel and staff were very nice. We loved the close proximity to M street in Georgetown.

Though I specifically mentioned that I’m coming with my fiance and it’s her birthday there was nothing special. Disappointed. Aside from cleanliness and ignored birthday request I may stay in this hotel again

Great hotel and loved the snack and breakfast room on our level. The kids didn’t like the pool as much, it was very small and part of the gym in the basement. Lots of people working out all around us and hard to find.

The parking though expensive was very convenient. Our transition from car to room then room to car was smooth and convenient. The food was wonderful though the service at the restaurants were a little slow but still very friendly. We were able to walk to most places we wanted to visit. We all look forward to returning to enjoy another stay at the Fairmont in DC.

Fairmont was nice. 1st room AC didn't work but staff made it good by giving us an upgraded room. In-house restaurant was terrible for breakfast - so that was the only time we ate there. Wished there were more walkable storefront restaurants by this location. Otherwise safe location, clean and quiet.

The Fairmont is very nice. The Shower water pressure was phenomenal. The only thing I would note is the for a place as nice as this Hotel a walk in glass shower would be the top need. Shower curtain and bathtub - average. We loved the place. Service was on point.

The hotel was comfortable, spotlessly clean, very well located, and felt extremely safe. The room was beautifully decorated and the entire place smelled amazing. The housekeeping staff was quite loud every morning, which made it difficult to sleep in. I had to wake up each day to the noise they were making, and although this was the only issue I experienced, it was rather frustrating. Also, having to pay for Wi-Fi doesn’t quite fit with expectations in 2025. Of course, this is the hotel’s policy and it was clearly stated on Booking.com, so this is just a personal opinion. But perhaps including Wi-Fi in the room rate—by raising it slightly, say $15 (daily wifi rate)—might come across as more refined.

This is our second time staying at this hotel - first time was with our 2 yr old and this time with our now 6 yr old and 2 year old-amazing hotel , friendly staff and amazing service. recommend for anyone visiting dc. we were able to walk to restaurants, lincoln memorial and other attractions. Highly recommend staying at the fairmont.

Extremely loud noisy rooms. Rooms are nice but you hear doors slamming. Luxury hotel should deal with this issue. Do not stay here if you are sensitive to loud noise

Bellman courteous and helpful in storing large amount of luggage. Parking attendings terrific in retrieving safely stored vehicle. Was very pleased by stay. I have been impressed by the service and value during this and other recent Fairmont stays.

Amazing experience and I’m very difficult to please as I am an author on a best seller on hospitality and it was an incredible surprise how everything was so on point Inc the care of our 2 bully’s. Meeting Peter Ewenson before leaving solidified our loyalty to the Fairfield. We will be here often as my daughter is a freshwoman at Georgetown in sept.

When I checked in at the hotel, i wasn't offered anything to drink like i have been at other boutique hotels in the area, not good hospitality at all. Later in the evening, when I inquired about breakfast in the morning, I got a strange look on the face of the gentleman at the front desk when I asked if it was included with the room. Snooty and uppity almost. As if he was looking down on me for asking about a free breakfast. All in all, I WILL NOT BE BACK at this hotel. I will choose another boutique hotel in the area as I have in the past. For a 4 star boutique hotel, I expected more from this place. Very disappointed.

I flew in from London on my way to Palm Beach with a stop in DC to drop my son off at school. I normally stay at The Ritz but the price for the one night was double what I usually pay and I found a good price at your hotel. Nothing went particularly smoothly. I had some huge suitcases which required a cart but the door staff were a bit confused. The front desk person was nice and professional but for one night (and said I was leaving early in the morning) put me in room 410 all the way at the end of the hall. If the bellstaff weren't available early it would have been difficult for me to go downstairs myself. The bathroom is an embarrassment and you really need to renovate. I asked about being in a newer room but it wasn't like they said if you pay a small additional amount we can upgrade you. Ordered room service and french fries came without ketsup, the tea cup was dirty, I asked if they had any chocolate chip cookies and you would have thought I asked for something crazy and was told the hotel doesnt have cookies and to check in the room. My experience wasn't pleasant and I have no intention of staying again even if the price is better than the other neighborhood hotels.

The valet service was excellent. The bellman was very good as well. I woukd stay here again. Great value for tge money and located near Georgetown.

All was well but they had broken pipes the day we had many events to go to so they couldn’t fix it in time and gave me a credit upon learning of our issue.

Really nice hotel in a great location! Steps away from shopping and restaurants, but also a short ride downtown. They have a very nice fitness facility with a lap pool and hot tub.

The property was excellent, it was really convenient to get to. The valet parking was excellent, I texted the number on the ticket and they my car ready to pick up. The staff was extremely helpful, the room was awesome. It made for a great stay and relax atmosphere. I will definitely book here again.

Beautiful hotel!

My family of 4 stayed here for Christmas. We loved the atmosphere. Christmas music played in the lobby and a life size gingerbread house. Room service was good and the room was very clean and well kept. A short drive to Georgetown shopping and dining.
