Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its convenient location and friendly staff. However, there are frequent complaints about the breakfast service and the size of the rooms.

Hotel located near Chinatown metro. Helpful staff. Breakfast was average. Room was clean but dated.
- 3/5
Nice bar on the side good food too
- 4/5
Good stay. Close enough to waterfront.
- 4/5
It was very clean. It could use updates but everything worked, except our key card reader took many tries to open our room. The breakfast was really good. I would stay there again if in DC.

Building was clean and nice. Room was clean. Area was a little iffy at night but not too bad for D.C. Would stay again if in the area.

- 5/5
Quick check in. Very clean. Dog friendly. Only hang up is if they are low on breakfast, they will close early rather than restock anything. So don't wait around for breakfast.
- 3/5
I did not like that I had to reset my access key cards four times for a three day stay. This is definitely an issue that I haven’t had with Marriott before.
- 5/5
Very comfortable room, great neighborhood, walking distance to everything plus 2 blocks from the Metro, which goes everywhere, including both airports! Lots of places to eat, or grab wineries, good breakfast every day, and the staff was lovely! Only improvement I would make would be a small fridge in the room…
- 4/5
Great Location in a nice neighborhood, just a short walk to the mall and some good food options. Overall building and room condition were fine but needs some repairs & maintenance to get to a 5 star.

Please compliment the management on hiring good people with great attitudes and keeping them motivated. It really shows in the overall experience. I will say here again and I did recommend the Fairfield 500 H St to the staff at Georgetown Grad School.

Great location No refrigerator or microwave in the room.
- 4.5/5
The property was clean and conveniently located. There was not clear signage regarding where to park to unload your car. Coming into the city when you’re not used to being in a big city was incredibly overwhelming not knowing where to unload the car. The valet was expensive and there is no other parking options nearby. That being said, the valet system was good once we figured it out. It was all online which made it easy to get our car anytime.

Hotel is not answering to messages.

One of two elevators was outduring most of my stay. Despite the high cost of my room, it was not made up daily. I should have booked 3 one-night stays, rather than 1 three-night stay.

Phillis helped us at check in and she was AMAZING! Very kind, gave us recommendations for a breakfast spot a few streets over. She held our luggage for us because we arrived prior to check in time, and the room wasn't quite ready. I would stay here again just because of how kind she was to us. The free breakfast was also a plus. Beds were comfortable and it was pretty quiet. There was free shampoo, conditioner and body wash in dispensers in the shower. Room came with iron, ironing board, microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. There was also a small desk to work. There is an Irish pub located on the bottom floor of the hotel that had great food also. 10/10. Only complaint was that one of the elevators was broken while we were there and my mom is handicapped. My daughters and I were fine taking the stairs when the elevator was taking a while, but my mom had to wait a bit. I saw a crew there working on it, so it's probably fixed by now.

Great customer service throughout our stay. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the city, with easy walking access to a variety of restaurants, museums, and key attractions. The breakfast offered a wide range of excellent options, and the room size was just right—comfortable and well-suited for a relaxing stay.

The hotel location was great. Easily walkable to restaurants and attractions. The bed was the downfall for me. The mattress too hard for me, so I never got a good nights sleep.

Breakfast was good. They never cleared our room or fresh towels, had to ask for more tiolet paper. Asked for towels too but didnt get them. My original reservation was for a couch and 2 beds, only got 2 beds i guess cause we checked in early. Couldnt understand the giy at the front when tried asking for directions.

Close to capital one The breakfast was disappointing. Sausage was cold and did not taste good. I spit it out. The waffle did not taste like waffles. You guys added a lot of water to thin out to save money. The oatmeal was the only thing able to eat. Definitely not worth almost 300 a night for this crap. Rooms need updated. Air conditioner hardly worked in our room. Was very hot. Ownership needs to step it up
- 4/5
Bathroom was dated, including rusting on the tub, dripping faucets and cracking caulking. Outside of the bathroom, the rest of the room was satisfactory.

Great restaurant in the hotel.
- 4/5
Great location in China Town area;close to subway;breakfast was pretty typical buffet stuff..did the job. Liked that hot coffee was available all day. Great shower! Only real complaint was that the bed covers were yellowed on the edges from peoples sweat over time. Even though they covered the comforter over with a nice white sheet, it was still a little yucky....otherwise all good.
- 3/5
elevator out of service the whole stay.
- 5/5
We had a short stay but it was great
- 3/5
Not a very impressive hotel. My Marriott Elite status was not recognized. Service is not very good.
- 4/5
My husband and I enjoyed my one night stay. The lobby appeared small but once on my floor it was bigger. My room was clean with lots of towels, no fridge with a small coffee pot which was perfect to get ready for our concert. The toilet was small and the tissue box only had 3 tissues with no replacement available, my door security lock disengaged with the door open. This was an easy fix but unexpected, that were my only issues as the continental breakfast was excellent. I would definitely use this hotel again especially going to an event nearby. The city was alive, quiet in the morning but great for a quick walkabout. Got more than expected for the price.”
- 4/5
The hotel was in a great location from the Capital One Area and local restaurants. My only complaint is the water pressure and temperature of the water sucked
- 0.5/5
I paid for my stay in full through Booking.com, but when I arrived the hotel demanded an additional $30 per day as a “deposit”, which was never mentioned in my reservation. I was told that if I didn’t agree, I could cancel my stay — even though I had already paid. At check-out they promised to give me a document confirming the refund and said the money would be returned within 10 days. No document was given, and 10 days later the deposit is still not returned. I have sent multiple emails and received no response. This amount may seem small for the U.S., but for international travelers it matters. Because of the lack of transparency and communication, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Room was nice, but could benefit from better sound proofing. The sounds from outside and upstairs were quite loud and made it difficult to sleep. The wait time to check-in was quite long with only one service representative at the counter. The elevators did not have safety features to limit access to floors from individuals without a room key. I personally didn’t have an issue, but was surprised the feature was not included as a precaution.

I understand this is a busy city with a lot of traffic and a lot of different personalities, but people are coming to YOUR facility out of dozens in the area and you’re going to out-right ignore people, be rude and condescending, talk bad about them in front of their face, and have AirPods in?? It was the most insane experience my husband and I had ever had going to D.C. or a Fairfield Inn.. I try to find Fairfield Inn’s SPECIFICALLY because I have always had a good experience, but we could not get out of there fast enough. If you don’t like to help people, or explain how processes work, then don’t work in this field! :) there is PLENTY of WFH jobs that don’t require direct client contact, please review and reconsider your staff! (Specifically I think Tracy was her name, and the older man working Valet.) The Valet crew in itself had NO idea what was going on. We were told to park our car, then we were told to drive it around the building, then we were told that if we didn’t bring the car back so they could take it then we could get a fee?!?! They did disclose that they were short staffed, but again the severity of bad attitude was still insane.

The room that we booked didn’t include the amenities listed during booking (fridge & microwave). Tried confirming this to the front desk but they said all rooms of that type do not include those — which is contradicting to the one stated online. This should be revised so as not to confuse the customers. Also, we think that there were problems with the vents (unpleasant smells were crossing to our room).

Whenever we visit DC for a Caps game we stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites. We appreciate the close proximity to the arena, the restaurant downstairs and complimentary breakfast. Valet parking is a little pricey, but as long as Fairfield keep the cost down to rent a room we will continue to stay there. Staff is always friendly as well!

Hotle was great. The bathroom had a musty smell but looked really clean. Room itself was clean and breakfast and service were great. Optimal location for going to a hockey game (5 min walk) or scootering to the national mall (less then 15 min) along with dining and indoor putput.

Breakfast was typical nothing special. However, it was nice and quiet with comfy beds, and close to the metro and capital one arena if you're going to a concert. The Chinatown area is kind of sketchy looking, so I'd prefer to stay on the other side of capital one arena next time.
- 3/5
The hotel was just okay. I'm surprised it has such a high rating. The room was rinky dink. The tub was peeling. The outlet in the bathroom was coming off the wall. There was small holes in the bathroom wall. One of the beds creaked every time you moved. The drawers wouldn't stay shut. The fridge was dirty and wobbly. The church bells across the street rang every 15 minutes (could have been notified about that). There were no outlets by the bed and the walls are extremely thin (heard way more than I wanted to). Lastly, parking! The cost of valet parking is false. They say it's $59 but charge $73 after taxes and service fees. Just say it's $73. Also, one of the valet guys reeked of weed and had my car smelling like it!

Great location
- 4/5
It was a 6 minute walk to a large Metro Hub
- 4/5
Breakfast could use some vegetables
- 4/5
The cost of parking was $56 a day!! Down the street 2 blocks away garage parking was $10 a day..The rooms need to be updated. Staff was nice.
- 3/5
Dislikes: Didn't have minifridge or safe
- 2/5
Breakfast is very poor. Parking was supposed to cost $60 and was charged $72
- 5/5
Everything was clean and everyone was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is what you'd expect...nothing remarkable, but plenty of options. The hotel sits in the same building with an Irish pub and the door through the lobby made it easy access to good food and lively evenings!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, very helpful. Great location. Clean room with comfortable beds. Nice breakfast. Would stay again.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was exceptionally attentive and friendly. Our room was spotless and well maintained, which gave us a very comfortable stay. The breakfast was a highlight with plenty of variety to start the day right. We would gladly stay again.
- 4/5
Walkable distance to popular D.C. areas, clean room, nice staff. Only complaint was the A.C. unit was on high on night, but the room was not getting cold enough.
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful at check-in and throughout my stay. The location was close to the Metro bus and train. Recommend this hotel while staying downtown.
- 5/5
Loved the locality to everything
- 3/5
No microwave or refrigerator in room made it very inconvenient.
- 5/5
Bueno
- 3/5
Good service and food, but room was smelly and not thoroughly cleaned.
- 5/5
This was a pleasant hotel for one night in DC. Conveniently located to metro, Union Station, and the downtown scene. The room was small but clean and comfortable. A nice hearty breakfast was also included.
- 5/5
Staff behaviour polite & nice.
- 5/5
Very nice area and cleab rooms, just hope front desk could be more gentle.!!

Didn't like the beds and pillows. Too soft

At checkout, I inquired about the deposit, and the front desk informed me it would be returned the following day. However, after three days, I still had not received it, so I followed up with a phone call. I was told once again that it would be refunded—this time within seven days. Unfortunately, it has now been over a month (1 month and 7 days) since my stay, and I still have not received the deposit refund. I’ve sent multiple emails and have yet to receive any response. This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially from a well-known and reputable hotel chain like Marriott. I am extremely disappointed with how this situation has been handled. What should have been a routine refund process has turned into a frustrating and time-consuming experience. I hope this review prompts the management to address the issue more seriously and ensures that future guests do not face similar problems.

The lock in our room was broken…, we came back to the hotel after dinner, went to our room, and discovered that the access key wasn’t working, went to the lobby, the key was replaced. Tried again and it didn’t work, after a couple attempts to open it using the card I was given, the hotel send a maintenance person to try and get the door open, it too more than 3 hours to finally get the door opened, my family and I were all waiting for the door to open, at this point we were too tired, it was past midnight when we finally made to our beds, a total disaster…..
- 5/5
Nice hotel, breakfast is the best
- 5/5
Great breakfast, comfortable beds, refrigerators and microwaves, staff was amazing and it’s attached to a great Irish Pub! All within walking distance of the sites of DC! Super close to the train station that can get you anywhere!
- 2/5
The staff was very unprofessional. The surrounding area is very unsafe. They also said there was parking available and when we got there we had to pay for the valet parking. They also mentioned that there were EV chargers available and there was none.
- 5/5
Thank you so much. Strongly recommended to evry Visitor of Washington DC
- 3/5
Everything is good. Cleanliness, breakfast, property condition. Only the Room “superior King” is little small, less bright and conjusted.
- 4/5
Breakfast was great and great location
- 5/5
The desk clerk was great. TY.
- 4/5
It is a good place to stay.
- 1/5
Our room had a funky smell to it and when I complained I got a look and a “we don’t have any other rooms available” remark. I wasn’t looking to have my room switched. The room was damp and smelled of damp. The air didn’t work at night but great during the day. Some furniture was run down as well. The location was perfect but the room left much to be desired. Breakfast was also pretty good but because of the room I would never stay there again.
- 5/5
Area sketchy
- 5/5
The parking was a little expensive.
- 4/5
Close to all attractions
- 5/5
The staff were attentive to our needs. We needed to move our room due to the noise level of the guests next to us and the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately changed our room.
- 5/5
Convinient location to main attractions
- 5/5
Close walking distance to museums.

- 5/5
Great staff… nice breakfast selection
- 5/5
the cleanest one I've been to. superb work
- 4/5
The property was ok, for me and my family the location was fine.
- 4/5
We liked the short 2 block walk to the Metro and easy access to all the downtown sites. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great - just a little crowded with seating.
- 3/5
The location was ok as well as the breakfast but the rooms are outdated. My pillows and bed were very uncomfortable and the AC leaked water. We told them about the AC in the am but no one cane until we called again in the evening. Then the air did not sufficiently cool.
- 5/5
Breakfast was good
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 2/5
Location was good but the room itself was so old and tired. Toilet was not flushing well at all which was frustrating. Bedding was comfortable but when we woke up 1st morning there both my son and I suffered a bug bite which was worse by the time we checked out.
- 4/5
I have no complaints. Nice place to stay. Convenient to all the sites and my work meetings. I would happily stay there again.
- 2/5
The area around the hotel is very unsafe. Avoid this hotel
- 5/5
The BEST breakfast!! 24-hour coffee availability. Clean rooms with all the amenities.
- 4/5
Only stayed two days, overall the trip and stay at the hotel was fine. Only gripes are that the room could be a little cleaner, looks like someone could’ve swept and mopped in the room before we checked in, very dusty. Also one of the elevators were broken and one had a bad smell.
- 1/5
smelly rooms and the mattress was dirty as if someone had pooped on it, it was impossible to sleep because of the stench
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
The hotel is centrally located. Offers complimentary breakfast. Its a 12 minute Uber ride to the Washington Monument. There is an alley in between the hotel and the next building incase you have a car and need to easily access the front valet service. Overall, its nice
- 4/5
This is the perfect place for visiting the DC area. Lots of places to eat close by. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the National Mall. The only complaint I have is that the air conditioning unit in our room was really noisy! It kept the room cool but super noisy. Other than that a nice place and free breakfast.
- 5/5
Great location and safe.
- 4/5
I really enjoyed the spinach quiche. My room was very clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
This is a great budget friendly find about eight minutes walking from the “gallery Pl.” Metro Station
- 5/5
Good location for Metro, plenty of food choices that are walkable. Clean room and friendly staff.
- 4/5
Breakfast not very good, floor in room dirty. Do not feel safe in area around hotel due to violence in DC.
- 4/5
Love the hospitality that was given by staff very kind, friendly, and helpful staff. What could be better the selection since I do not eat pork
- 4/5
Walking distance to many of the attractions in DC
- 5/5
Great location to all the attractions, metro station and sports arena. Room was clean, shower pressure was great, beds very comfortable! Customer service was excellent!

Breakfast was okay, just crowded ,think they should be more Breakfast meat option beside sausages. The king size was ok,just that the mattress was a little uncomfortable slightly feel the springs.hotel was convenient location to walking to shops and around, area seems ok.
- 2/5
Upon checkin, we were not offered the room we booked and our family was split into 2 rooms which was an inconvenience for us. The keycards would not work when we first went to the room on the first day. The staff told us they are magnitized when they are in close contact with our phones, but they would not work even when we kept them separated. I cannot put a number of the amount of times we went to go get new cards. The rooms smelled so horribly and it seems like the staff wouldn’t do anything to fix this issue (after our call multiple times). The breakfast was basic and the same for the 3 days we stayed. The area that we stayed in felt a bit uncomfortable with us. Ultimately, our whole experience made us not want to stay in this area in the future.
- 3/5
Good location, acceptable simple breakfast. Room was big, but smelling not nice. I was charged by 30 USD deposit fee. Still not returned (more then 2 weeks).
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
The stay was nice. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and that was good. The continental breakfast was delicious. The parking was a little tricky as all parking in DC. They do have a valet service once you get checked in. Over all the stay was good. I would give it a 4/5 for parking.
- 4/5
Great staff. Curteous. My one issue was the city shut off the water so couldn’t take a shower in the morning. There should have been some kind of discount or refund
- 3/5
Valet service is not good. They see customer as only Money and are looking for higher tips.
- 3/5
Property and staff were top notch. My issue was that the city shut down the water from 11:00 pm on Thursday night until Friday morning at 7:30 am on Friday. I needed to be out early on Friday and although the water was supposed to be on by 7:00 am it was not turned on until 7:30 am. I had to use water that we saved for a sponge bath. There should have been some kind of rebate or discount given to guests.
- 4/5
The breakfast was good
- 5/5
Service was very kind, great breakfast, location was perfect
- 4/5
The staff was very nice and helpful, always greeted with a smile. The room had the noisiest air conditioner and it was 90 outside so not much chance of us turning it off. Our key card had to be reset on one of days and that was inconvenient. The valet who retrieved our car told my husband we could only tip in cash. We had no cash. The app I had to download to park at the hotel, allowed me to tip. $77 a day for parking at this hotel. It was supposed to be $55 a day but with tax and fees it came out to an absurd amount. The parking company is not a part of the hotel, and might be customary, but the parking situation did not fall in the line of Marriott standards. Excellent location. Metro station like 300 feet away. Chinatown was bustling and we enjoyed the area and walked to the National Mall a couple times (it’s 30 minutes by foot) Restaurants all around were excellent.
- 4/5
Decent for the price. Good breakfast but often out of certain items. Shower was always lukewarm or cold. There was a cockroach in the bathroom. Cards stopped working almost every day (even ones I kept in my room). Gym was basic but good enough.
- 5/5
Great location for getting around DC by metro. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. When we plan trips to DC, this our hotel every time.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Very nice to stay
- 4/5
How close the hotel was to the metro and all the surrounding restaurants and attractions.
- 5/5
Great place and location
- 4/5
It's in the heart of Downtown DC! Everything is accessible like food and transportation!
- 4/5
Good room for the price!
- 5/5
Good location Wide variety at breakfast. I will choose this hotel again
- 5/5
Friendly stuff, clean, valley parking and easy to check in
- 3/5
Not much to expect beyond average...Location was good for walks to Capitol. front desk seemed understaffed during peak hours, breakfast OK.
- 5/5
Friendly, welcoming staff, especially the courteous front desk personnel and helpful, kind valets. Comfortable room, but too much street noise (sirens). Wonderful buffet breakfast. The perfect location for walking or hopping on the Metro.
- 3/5
The remote control was missing from my room, and the bar was closed all weekend. The hotel feels small and outdated, and overall, the experience didn’t match the price.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful time in DC. Room was great . Loved having a bathtub!
- 4/5
We visited D.C. for the July 4th fireworks and stayed two nights in 2025. The desk and valet staff were very professional, polite, and welcoming. Requests were met with courtesy and promptly fulfilled. The property was clean, the room was comfortable, though a bit cramped. The commode flushed very slowly. The shower had hot water and very good pressure. The beds were comfortable, the A.C. was cold. The breakfast buffet was nice, although the staff was hard pressed to keep up - both mornings we were there we had to wait for eggs, and the second morning they were out of white milk. The food was good. Many of the other guests at the buffet were insufferably rude, though that's not the fault of the hotel. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and would consider it again for a future visit.
- 5/5
Clean, breakfast, personal.
