Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location, staff, and cleanliness. Many guests appreciate the spacious and comfortable rooms, as well as the proximity to dining, shopping, and transportation. However, there are some recurring complaints about the housekeeping services, room layout, and noise levels.

Great location, spacious and clean room, comfortable beds. Alex at the front desk is super nice. Breakfast is served on menus instead of buffet. The elevator runs with noise and needs maintenance.

Good location. Nice room. Bar that was not open given “events” and booked by third parties - not good to be turning away and refusing those staying. Breakfast with another group company - service was slow. Would not recommend breakfast at this hotel.

Clean. Friendly staff. Great location. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Bar and restaurant on site. My only complaint was the shower head wasn’t the best and the air/heat was loud. But that is being picky. Would definitely stay again.

room phone and refrigerator did not work, Wi fi password on the TV was not correct. Thursday breakfast was understaffed- over 1 hour to be finished. 1 Server for the entire dining room. She was apologetic, gracious and as efficient as possible for the situation. All staff were helpful and gracious. The restaurant was excellent in the evening.

This is a nice hotel and I stay here often but it does feel like it’s been cheapened a lot over the past year or so. They used to give breakfast vouchers and lovely L’Occitane products but now they give cheap products and no vouchers (just a 15% off coupon which isn’t very good). The gym is also quite bad. I’ve stayed here about 6 times in the past two years but not sure if I’ll be choosing this hotel again in the future.

It was very comfortable, nicely designed, and quiet. The staff was friendly, courteous, and attentive. I wish I had asked about parking ahead of time, but that was my mistake. Parking was very easy and convenient. I had just not factored in the extra cost.

Lobby and restaurant are nicely kept and main floor is clearly maintained. The furniture in the room had quite a bit of wear and tear and even some of the lamps were not quite afixed to the wall, etc. The heating/AC unit was inconsistent at night. Didn't really work at night.

The front desk staff was so friendly and gave good insight into the area and how to get around the city. We appreciated that there were two different metro stations within a 10 minute walk. We felt it was in a very safe neighborhood traveling with young children. I wish they had the option to self park, but the valet was very friendly and didn't mind that we wanted to leave our bags in the car while we went for breakfast after checking out.

Our worries were unfounded: the St. Gregory is a *beautiful* hotel with clean, spacious rooms; cheerful and helpful staff; and a charming bistro just off the lobby. The location is ideal, also. We have recommended the St. Gregory to several people already. This will be our first choice, the next time we visit DC!

Sadly the hotel has become quite basic and cheap. I’ve stayed here many times but unfortunately this will be my last. They used to include breakfast for free which they have now stopped. They also used to use fantastic L’Occitane products which they have now replaced with AWFUL cheap synthetic ones. The gym was also really run down and basic with equipment not working. I usually stay many times a year here, around 20 days a year in total but there I won’t be going back after my recent stay. They have been taken over by a company callled Eurostars who, for some reason, think clients now want a cheap and basic experience. We don’t.

The hotel is in an excellent location. It’s pretty inside. The staff was mostly very friendly and helpful. Evening shift was just average. The elevated smelled like body odor but was cleaned after we reported it to the desk. The plumbing in our bathroom was super loud the first night but corrected itself the next day. Beds were SUPER comfortable and the best pillows I’ve had in a hotel.

1. Gym infested with bugs. Had to abandon workout during press-up as wrists and ankles were attacked by insanely itchy bug bites. 2. Loud air con - it only ran on high fan, so it was pretty noisy. Luckily, I had earplugs, which muffled it enough. Also, they charge a “resort fee”… for what? The Lazy River that floats past my cabana??! It’s a city hotel for goodness sake!

I have a lot to say about this stay, I will try to be brief. I had a one bedroom suite for a week. The doorman- Bellmen were professional and friendly. The front Desk staff top of their field- Courteous- Professional- Helpful, Very Professional! The Bistro crew, Very good! I have a Big Shout out for Roberto! I joined him every evening in the bar for drinks/Happy Hour. The drinks were all delicious, he had a fabulous attitude and had Excellent customer service! The Bistro is on the corner with glass windows in a great location! I would like to suggest putting a few Tv's in the bar area to attract more customers. With such a great happy hour and Fantastic Customer service you would expect this place to be very busy, but every night I went, there were not many people. Put up a few TV's and I think the Vibe would change and invite others in!......Roberto is an asset to your company for sure! Regards

I have stayed here many times and generally prefer it to other hotels. However on this trip there was noticeable wear and tear plus many non functioning things like doors not closing for the closet or bathroom. Also I didn’t have hot water in the shower which I asked for help with on my first day of 3 but was never fixed.

I’d highly recommend upgrading the elevators, especially for guests with higher flights. A few times in my stay the elevator was not working and remained stuck until I had to wait for one of the other two. A upgrade needed there. The air conditioning was very loud. Understandable for cutting on and off but there was a loud bang on ours all night long. Besides that, I loved the staff and valet. Room was very nice, hotel was walkable and drivable to my activities and I would stay again.

1 out of 5 stars – and honestly would give 0 if it was an option. I stayed at this hotel with my daughter for two nights while she prepared for an internship at Georgetown. Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. Power Outages and No Support The power went out on our first night, leaving us without air conditioning in 90-degree heat. We were told it was a city issue, and we understand that’s not the hotel's fault, the staff showed zero empathy or effort to help. The desk clerk simply said "it was hot for us too" with no apology or attempt to make the situation better. When I mentioned we booked through Expedia, he dismissed us, saying we'd need to handle everything through the third party. Noise Issues and Inadequate Response Our second night was ruined by an extremely loud party next door that lasted until 5:30 AM. Despite calling the front desk three times, nothing was done to address the situation. The desk clerk seemed annoyed that I called and claimed they "told them" to quiet down, but the party continued for over 2.5 hours with screaming and what sounded like multiple people in the room. Hidden "Amenity" Fees The most frustrating discovery was a $35/night "amenity fee" that is in addition to the room charges we already paid and I guess covers basic hotel services like air conditioning, hot water, and internet - things that should be included in any hotel room. This feels particularly predatory when b

Hidden "Amenity" Fees The most frustrating discovery was a $35/night "amenity fee" that is in addition to the room charges we already paid and I guess covers basic hotel services like air conditioning, hot water, and internet - things that should be included in any hotel room. This feels particularly predatory when b

Nice staff, good location, large well-appointed room. Power outage immediately before our stay meant that the hotel was warm from lack of AC when we checked in. But they had mimosa's and pastries in the lobby to make up for it! There was also a shortage of clean towels and linens due to power outage. Overall, I'd stay there again.

Lovely property and super friendly bar staff! The room was great, too. Unfortunately I booked the room with the intention of pushing a major project across the finish line in the quiet of my room, but there was no internet the entire time I was there and no electricity on the morning of departure (no fault of their own as the entire city block lost power).

Overall hotel is very nice with a great staff and atmosphere. However at check in was told the WiFi was out. Then early morning power is out! I’m thus humid weather and conditions it’s been a huge inconvenience to me and my family.

You can’t find a better location in Washington DC this hotel. It’s walkable to virtually everything. There are many great restaurants nearby and whether it’s for tourism or business, it’s an excellent choice.

Great location, good walking area, nice restaurant and lounge downstairs. Rooms are minimalistic and the room in the bathroom are missing that luxury touch that I was expecting. The air conditioner is old as heck but worked great.

Excellent stay. Great restaurant and bar. Staff was fabulous!
- 2/5
My room seemed to be only partially up-to-date. The air conditioner was extremely noisy and the bathroom was leaking from the room upstairs, the toilet ran constantly and the handle fell off of the shower. Otherwise, the room was in decent condition. Also, watch out for hidden amenity fees and the staff are not the friendliest.

Overall, the hotel is quite nice from the lobby to the restaurant. The check in was quick. It’s in a great neighborhood. The main challenge is housekeeping. We stayed 2 nights and our room was not cleaned after the first night (we were gone from 9AM to 10PM). I told the front desk the next morning and he made a note to have our room cleaned. It was then cleaned, but we ended up with 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel for a double room. Housekeeping needs to be improved. You also pay an amenity fee, so the rooms should be refreshed with new water.

Great stay, loved the restaurant!

The A/C unit made a racket when coming on or turning off waking us during the night. The elevator made a LOT of odd noises that was concerning while in the elevator. Employees said it has been like that for a while. Overall a great stay at a fair price.

I really love VIP Access hotel through expedia. The location of St. Gregory Hotel is perfect as it has access to a lot of nearby resturants, bars, coffee shops like Tatte

The staff is excellent. The dining room is excellent. It's always a 5* stay, which after 4 months of visits I can comfortably state.

Great location with very friendly front desk staff. They also have fruit infused water, fresh fruit and delicious cookies (sometimes) in the lobby for guests!

I slept well. The King studio was lovely. The location was perfect as well as the valet and front desk services.

Restaurant and staff excellent; fourth week in a row staying at The St. Gregory - return because the service is so good.

Suited the location that we were after - pretty much walkable or short train ride to everything.

Super comfortable room, delicious food and drink at the restaurant, friendly staff, good location. Highly recommend. I’ve stayed here at least a dozen times and I’m treated like family.

Also, the toilet was clogged and did not flush properly for the first three days. Very unfortunate. And the primary engineer seemed upset about having to fix the issue, and then again about having to return to try to fix it again. Finally the issue was resolved by a second person coming in. The third issue…..when both engineers were in the bathroom, I said the bathtub was missing the shower mat on the floor and was slippery. The first (upset) engineer said that shower mats were no longer being used, and went on to “explain” why. The second engineer said that the mat had been removed to paint the tub and just needed to be replaced. The third issue for me is that I can’t stand when people make up lies to try to justify something they do not know. I am chalking these issues up as an outlier, but wanted them noted nonetheless.

Great location with very welcoming staff. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Excellent location easy walk to Georgetown or DC sites.

Overall service was fantastic. Great folks at check in and housekeeping. We needed extra pillows and bedding for sleeper sofa. Housekeeping responded quickly and even made up the bed perfectly which we weren’t expecting. Very nice restaurant and lounge area with decent menu if you need a convenient and tasty option. Warm cookies and chilled water in the lobby were a nice touch. Would highly recommend!

Stayed for graduation. Walkable to Georgetown (about 1 mile). Everyone was helpful at the front desk and valet getting me to commencement activities.

I booked a room for a late arrival as I needed to sleep somewhere after my husband had surgery at a nearby hospital and they wouldn't let me stay overnight; I even phoned the property to confirm that I would not be checking in until 10 or 11pm, and they said that was no problem. However, when I showed up at 10:45p, the front desk attendant seemed surprised (and inconvenienced) that I was checking in "so late". Having been at a hospital during the operation, I hadn't eaten since 11am and was starving. They did not have an open kitchen (even though it was a Thursday night) and even their bar was technically "closed" (though they were willing to sell me a bottle of not that great wine (just to get 1 glass) for an exaggerated price of $70) and when I asked of late night dining options nearby, they had no suggestions for me.

Beautiful lobby and bar/dining room. There was no water in the toilet bowl. They took off the extra recreation fee but still.

The sheets were old and pilling. The AC couldn’t be set to auto so it was either freezing or hot and it was very loud and kept waking me up all night. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls

The internet access has been sketchy at best, and that is the only "complaint" I would have with the hotel. The staff is fabulous, the restaurant (food and service) excellent, the rooms wonderful, and the location cannot be beat for convenience to everything DC has to offer.
- 5/5
Staff was wonderful - professional, pleasant, and informative. Restaurant was excellent - food and service was excellent. The hotel is in an excellent location - well located and walkable. This is a well-located, excellent serviced hotel/restaurant. 5* all round.

Everything was great. Easy to access and navigate to many different activities. Just not a super quick response from staff when requesting towels

The service was impeccable, room was very clean. I’ll go back again.

Marcus was really nice at check in and made us feel comfortable and welcome.

Lighting in the bathroom was poor, but that is my only complaint. Otherwise, accommodations, location, friendly staff, and good restaurant are all reasons I will return.

While the hotel itself is beautiful and aesthetically pleasurable, the staff made this recent stay incredible. From the front desk to the restaurant, everyone was warm, accommodating, and so welcoming. I would make this my go to stay whenever in DC.

The hotel has a great location, needs updates in Some areas, my complain is about housekeeping, they don’t clean your rooms, just bring clean towels and that is all, the phone in our room wasn’t working and we had to go to the reception every time that we need clean cups for our coffee, etc

The room was beautifully appointed—modern, clean, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made the stay feel luxurious. I especially appreciated the cozy bed, elegant decor, and the quiet atmosphere that made it easy to relax after a busy day. The location is ideal—just a short walk from great restaurants, shops, and key attractions, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful. The on-site restaurant and bar were also fantastic; I highly recommend trying their cocktails and brunch menu. What truly sets The St. Gregory apart is the attention to detail and genuine hospitality. I felt cared for every step of the way, and it made all the difference. I’ll absolutely be returning and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a refined, welcoming, and memorable stay in the city.

This property was fantastic! Only 1.5 miles to monuments. Lots to do around the hotel. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Bar and restaurants were great. Staff so friendly and accommodating. I will be back. If you do not do valet parking, know that the parking garages close between 10 and 11 pm and you cannot get in or out.

Our evening meal was O.K. but my lamb was over-cooked. I am probably naive to think that an American was capable of cooking lamb. The staff were very friendly and responsive to our concerns.

The hotel was beautiful and the customer service was superb! Will definitely stay here again!
